A Wish & a Dream: Sign-Up Thread
It was a dark and stormy night. A man with rags for clothes entered the town library. That is, if you could call it a library. In reality, it was a shabby old hut with piles of worn out, dusty books. They had been delivered from West Atakra three years ago, when the town disposed of their old book supply, and replaced the supply with new books. This man seemed like he was looking for something. The librarian was absent, but there were others. In fact, the library seemed packed. Another man slowly began to stand up from a chair- really just a cardboard box, not a chair- making his way to the man in rags.
"Wudder yeh doin here? Books fer brains, eh?" he taunted. His cronies, also sitting on boxes, laughed hysterically.
"I could say the same about you. Really surprising, to see someone as unintelligent as you at the library," replied the man in rags.
The other man grunted, and ran out of the library. His cronies glared at the man in rags, before following him. Now that they were out of his way, the man in rags could obtain what he was here for.
Where was it? He rooted through the piles of books, tossing them aside, and completely disorganizing them. A ripped up book about physics, a book without its cover, about the geography of Morania- nothing on the topic he was looking for. While he rooted through the books, the man thought about the situation, and his motives.
Poverty. The village was poor. The people were poor. Life was difficult. For years, decades in fact, the village of East Atakra had been in this dead state. There were many, oh so many people who were homeless, and the lucky citizens lived in sad, small dirt huts. Life was probably like this because of the poor working conditions and the lack of jobs. Those who were fortunate enough abandoned East Atakra. Years of hard labor could earn a ticket out of the town. Not everybody had this opportunity. Jobs were so scarce, it was considered a miracle to obtain one. There had to be some other way to improve life. Several years ago, this man- the one in rags- had heard a myth about a mysterious genie. That was why the man was here.
At last! He found it. The book had a orange cover, which was fading into a dismal brown. The corners were peeled up. But the title was still readable. It read, "Radaka: The Genie of the Yys." The man rummaged through the pages.
"Ohh!" He finally found it. Rip! He tore a page out of the book, folding it in half. Bang! The doors opened. Somebody else had entered the library. It was the police. Well, if you could call those bastards police. They walked around with sticks, and wore bandanas. But they weren't helpful in the least. They abused the citizens of East Atakra. The police were oppressive. The man recalled an incident were a young boy was executed for taking a book from the library. Suddenly, the man entered panic mode. He bolted for he second door, not the one he had came though.
"GET 'IM!!!" hollered one of the officers. The man looked back, spotting six officers chasing after him. The man weaved through the city, passing the park (which was an area with dying grass, and dying trees), the city hall (where the self-elected "mayor" imposed oppressive rules upon East Atakra), and even the police headquarters (simply a larger hut). It was a mistake to pass the police headquarters. Six more officers joined the race. It seemed hopeless for the man. But he needed to deliver the message to someone. As he ran, the man folded the page into a paper airplane. He flew it, and it flew into the branch of a tree in the park. Suddenly, the rain stopped.
"Stop!" commanded an officer. The man in rags was surrounded. Twelve officers, in a circle around him. One of the officers came up to the man, and hit him on the head with a big stick. The officer repeated the beating four more times. The man in rags collapsed to the ground. The same officer nodded, and two more officers picked up the unconscious man, taking him away. He'd probably face execution.
Though the man was captured, the police didn't uncover what mattered- the book page. It was still in the town park, tucked between two trees. But what was so important? Well, the city was extremely poor. For years, citizens had attempted to do something about the situation. Many had failed, being executed by the police. But there had to be some way.
Legend spoke of a genie named Radaka, a magical genie who can grant two wishes every century. Legend had it that he lived in the Yys, a treacherous mountain range. Of course, this was just magic, and most people were smart enough to know that magic wasn't real. However, this man believed. He wanted to do something for the city. But he couldn't do it himself. That book page? It spoke of Radaka, and everything someone would need to know to find him. Because the man truly believed that Radaka was real, and could raise the town out of its current state.
Someone would soon find that concealed book page. Someone would learn about Radaka. Someone would set out to find him. Someone would make a wish to save East Atakra from its state of poverty. That person would journey through the Yys, make a wish, and save the town, only with a wish and a dream on them.
For decades, the town of East Atakra has been cursed with poverty and an oppressive town government. About 70% of East Atakra's population consists of homeless citizens, who are unassisted and have no help from the government. The city government is made up of a self-elected mayor, and brutal "police," specifically chosen by the mayor. These police are extremely brutal, and force oppression upon the citizens. People are arrested for no reason, and mercy is unheard of. Most prisoners are executed. With a combination of poverty and the town government, East Atakra is cursed.
But there had to be some way to make life better. There's always a way. Over the ages, people have tried to share their ideas with the mayor. Such include ideas to increase jobs, firing the police force, and more. All have been declined. In the prologue, the man in rags stole a book speaking of a magical genie who could grant any wish. Maybe that was the way.
The current year is 1961. In this ISRP, the characters will find the book, and learn about Radakha the genie. They'll start a quest through the dangerous Yys mountains, and more. But, nothing in life comes easy. They will encounter life-threatening objects, and obstacles along the journey. The characters must find Radakha, and make a wish that will fix the curse that East Atakra has been burdened with for decades.

A Wish & a Dream takes place in the mythical world of Kakayi. Kakayi is an alternate universe, parallel to Earth. It is in a completely different galaxy, a completely different universe. There is only one way to travel to Kakayi from Earth. Legend has it that somewhere in the Himalaya mountains is a secret cave, and on the other side is Kakayi. However, nobody has ever discovered this cave on the Earth side.
Even though Kakayians know all about Earth's existence, and the secret cave, the Earth beings know nothing about either. This being said, Kakayians have not dared to step foot in Earth.
Kakayi is a planet, isolated in an empty void. As long as there has been mythology and fantasy, Kakayi has existed. It was born when the first civilizations created belief systems, and mythology. Kakayi is like a land that houses all of the fantasy creatures that we dream of on Earth. If you can dream it, it exists on Kakayi.
In the Earth year of 476 CE, Kakayi's first empire was formed. It was called Pyskis. One legend states that the dead souls of soldiers of the Western Roman Empire, which fell in the same year as Pyskis was born, left the afterlife to be reborn in Kakayi, and join Pyskis. Another theory explains that bear-men (which do indeed exist on Kakayi) sought to conquer the world. Truth is, nobody knows how Pyskis was formed. Soon after its birth, Pyskis recruited tens of thousands of soldiers, and sent them across Kakayi.
Throughout the next century, Pyskis conquered a lot of Kakayi, forming the five continents of Kakayi: Kakayetti, Joulaponi, Irsaka, Kakayana, and Lara. This was an easy task, because there weren't other empires vying for land. Only small, insignificant clans. Pyskis' influence was great, having control of the entire planet. They reigned supreme for centuries. But, nothing lasts forever.
In 1037, a group of satyrs (which the Greek imagined on Earth, and hence they were born in Kakayi) formed a large group of violent protestors. They ran wild among the five continents, attacking innocent Pyskisers, and even murdering government officials. Pyskis' military met the protestors. The large battle went on for weeks, occurring in all five continents.
Pyskis was winning, and the protestors seemed lost. But, one last idea was hatched. They managed to break into the Pyskis capital, Pyskisia, on Lara, and capture Emperor Godi of Pyskis. The protestors threatened to kill the emperor. The emperor, fearing his life, called for Pyskis to surrender. Even now, in the present, many see this decision as foolish. Pyskis could have lost their emperor and won the war.
Pyskis soon was forced to give up control of Kakayi. The emperor was freed, and the protestor clan banished the Pyskiser government workers and a large group of the citizens to the edges of Lara, which was a barren ice plain. To this day, Pyskiser descendants still live there, and that barren ice plain is called New Pyskisia, a city being built there.
The battle between the protestors and Pyskis is now refereed to as the Pyskis Wars. It lasted nine years, nearly a decade before Pyskis surrendered.
The protestor group decided to upgrade into a kingdom. They were called Foro, and they chose a king to lead Foro. Foro conquered Lara, building a new capital city on the ruins of Pyskisia called Foril. Foro advanced past Lara, raiding the other four continents. But Foro wasn't the only clan in Kakayi.
Several other small kingdoms defended their land against Foro. However, they were defeated easily. These battles lasted for less than a month, and they are referred to as the Petite Wars or the Foro Clash. Soon enough, Foro had conquered all of the continents, except Joulaponi. Foro decided to let all of the other clans they had defeated take control of Joulaponi.
Peace was present for another few centuries. A trade route was established around 1350, titled the Joulaponi Road. Foro and the other clans had a structured trade system, and the economy was doing very well. Many new cities were built around this time, including West and East Atakra. This period of thriving is named the Blooming Era. It lasted from 1350-1500.
Around 1500, a genie named Radaka was born, the same genie that the East Atakrans hope to find today. Radaka traveled around Kakayi, spreading a religion called Radism, which he created. Many Kakayians joined him in his travels. Soon, they reached Foril. By this time, Foro had expanded from a kingdom into an empire. Radaka and his leaders met with the emperor.
However, Emperor Yon was very much against the beliefs of Radism. He deceived Radaka and the Radism leaders, and captured them. The religious leaders were executed, one by one. Radaka watched as his followers died. Next, Emperor Yon attempted to murder Radaka. But Radaka wasn't a mortal, like his followers. Due to him being immortal, Foro could not kill him. Radaka was released and exiled to the Yys mountains, where he still lives today.
His exiling sparked an outrage among Radists. They revolted against Foro. But they were brutally silenced. Radism started to fade in Kakayi. While this happened, Joulaponi, which was a Radist continent, shut off the Joulaponi Road and trade with Foro. This was when trade and the economy started to plummet. This period, which lasted from 1500-1600, is known as the Radism Period.
Foro continued to have an influence. But there was an obvious problem. Ever since Joulaponi stopped trade, Foro found their economy rapidly declining. The same was happening for Joulaponi. The Joulaponi kingdoms were also suffering from an economic decline. They could have restarted trade, but they refused to, still being upset about the exiling of Radaka. One by one, the Joulaponi kingdoms collapsed.
Foro saw this as an opportunity to conquer Joulaponi. They'd soon have control of the entire planet. In 1629, they sent forces into Joulaponi. Since there was nobody to defend the continent, Foro easily conquered it. They finally had control of Kakayi.
Their economy was still declining. The military started to die, with soldiers being released. Soon, savage anarchist groups drove Foro out of Joulaponi, Kakayetti, and Irsaka. Foro surrendered Kakayana and most of Lara to these groups. All that was left of Foro was the capital city of Foril, which was not surrendered. This was known as the Anarchist Raid, which lasted from 1632-1633. Though Foro still existed, they soon fully collapsed, due to an economic collapse in 1640. Foril still exists today.
For a couple centuries, Kakayi had no dominant empire. It was an anarchy. There was no order, and chaos was present everywhere. It was in this anarchy period that towns such as East Atakra lost money and became poor. Jobs were hard to find, and looters were present in Kakayi, who would steal from and kill innocent citizens. What is now called the Anarchist Period lasted from 1633-1802.
In 1802, religion started to rise up again, Radism in particular. Religious leaders traveled around Kakayi. They built civilizations on the five continents, ending the Anarchist Period. Radism became popular once again. In fact, some Radists set out to find Radaka. In 1812, a Radist named Josh Tyberg found Radaka in the Yys mountains. Radaka bestowed two wishes. Josh used them both. However, he died on his journey back home, having fallen off of a cliff.
This gave ideas to other Radists. Large waves of Radists set out to find Radaka. A lot of people, in fact, found him. But, Radaka refused to grant them wishes, due to his strict policy of only bestowing two wishes per century. It was at this time that Radism declined once again, many Radists being furious at not being given magical wishes. Nobody has searched for Radaka since. And in this period, people began to purposely forget about Radaka. Former Radists convinced their cities that Radaka was not real. Soon, Radism was unpopular as ever.
Religious leaders of other religions continued to have influence over the five continents. In 1860, they were pushed aside by some of the first Kakayian politicians. Political systems were formed in all five continents. Most had and still have democratic systems, with the exception of Lara, which is ruled by a monarch. These government systems remain in Kakayi to this day.
Now, let's focus on East Atakra. East and West Atakra were founded around 1350. They were both bustling trade centers. But during the Anarchist Period, both cities became poor. During the 1700s, wealth started to increase again. However, East Atakra elected their first mayor around this time. This corrupt mayor used all of East Atakra's money for his own personal needs. This drained the economy very much, eliminating East Atakra from the "economic race." Despite this, West Atakra continued to flourish, and they became a wealthy city.
Around the 1870s, another oppressive mayor started the first police force. He hired about anyone who could obey his commands. Whenever a new mayor steps up, it is custom for them to replace every member of the police force.
And in the 1890s, the city's democratic system collapsed. A mayor candidate organized for his opponent and the current mayor to both be killed. It succeeded, and by default, the murderer was made mayor. During this time, he removed the city's election system, replacing it with nothing. How are new mayors chosen? They usually blackmail or kill the current mayor, taking leadership of the town.
Both cities remain the way they were in the 1700s. West Atakra is still wealthy, and East Atakra is still cursed with poverty. West Atakra tries not to have any communication with their counterpart on the east. And despite the efforts to improve East Atakra, nothing has happened. The current year being 1961, East Atakra is still digging itself into a hole. Will it ever escape?
Kakayi has a very unique geography. In this ISRP, the roleplaying will only take place on Kakayetti, and a part of Lara. I will only be describing the geography for where the roleplaying will occur.
East and West Atakra are located on the continent of Kakayetti. Ten miles out of East Atakra is the dark woods, where creepy bear-men and evil fairies lurk. Past the dark woods is the swamp of no bottom, where the waters are known to suck one into the water, to their death.
Another several miles past the swamp of no bottom is the field of no end. It's a near-endless that is very hard to navigate, due to the tall grasses blocking the view. Legend also has it that a cunning pumpkin-headed scarecrow ambushes anyone passing through the field.
After that is a valley known as the bowl, or the basin. It has steep rock formations that are easy to fall off of. Those four locations are in Kakayetti. However, the next and last location is located in Lara. The Yys mountain range is known for its deathly, dangerous, and frequent blizzard storms.
That's all the geography you need to know for this RP!
