Realistic or Modern A Sheep in Wolf's Clothing

Everything that had the misfortune of being in the warehouse was suddenly exposed to bright UV light, vampire and human alike, making the tall forms of Oxford and Vanessa seem even lankier, the light revealing what used to only dwell in the shadows...

But instead of bursting into flame like Dexter had hoped, or at least hunch over in extreme pain the vampires simply growled as they bared their teeth...
And retrieved thick sunglasses from their pockets, putting them on. More dramatic than it should've been as finally a pair of round glasses adorned Oxford's long face and a mirrored biker one rested on Vanessa's puckered nose.
"You're the fools here, thinking we'll just walk into an obvious trap unprepared!" Vanessa proclaimed with a grin as Dexter clenched his teeth, looking over to Emma who was just frozen in place...
"I..I'm going to die here..." The woman whispered as her eyes widened.

"Raven! More power!" Dexter finally spoke, urging his accomplices to push the lights to their maximum.
Only for the lights suddenly to go out with a rather satisfying buzzing...

Followed by a childish giggle coming from the rooftop.
"The vermin gnawed through the cables!" Raven cursed as she readied her own weapon, retrieving a curved knife and a handgun and stepping closer to Dexter.

Being singled out was exactly what pack animals like the Vampires went for, killing them one by one if they got the chance.
A chance they wouldn't give them.

For as much as they might have shielded themselves from the light it still left them wounded and drained, making it still a fight that was in the hunter's favor.

"Emma! Get over here!" Dexter yelled, watching the woman still stand in the middle of the room like a monument.
"Now!"

Only for Vanessa to dart right into her direction, claws extended as a murderous glare could be seen flashing behind her glasses, Oxford adjusting his black leather gloves first as his pale white eyes rested on the four hunters standing shoulder to shoulder, allowing himself a faint smile....
"How the tables have turned..."

Just as Elara had recovered from a momentary burst of blindness, it soon returned as the light strengthened and then suddenly died, leaving her sightless for the time being. But as faint silhouettes were returning, she was able to see that Vanessa had leaped onto Emma with claws outstretched, they burying themselves deep within her flesh, the woman screaming as the other hunters cursed. But they couldn't aid their companion as Oxford suddenly appeared before them, his predatory eyes gleaming a bright luminous white. He had been about to strike when Raven fumbled, getting hold of Elara once more, her blade positioned beside her neck. "One move, fangs." She snarled. "And she dies." He grew cautious, eyes flicking from each of them but only to glance upward as a series of high pitched laugher echoed eerily, Holly landing atop the hunter roughly. She screeched and tried to get her off, but the girl already had affixed her fangs to her neck, drinking greedily. Oxford cursed, knowing the stupid girl had a chance of infecting the bitch. But now with the other three distracted upon that display, the young teen already having stood and backed away, her eyes shinning fiercely, he made his way beside Vanessa's sister and easily rid her wrists of the ropes that bound her. "We'll talk about this later-" he managed to say before diving out of a harpoon's path.

Dexter breathed heavily, his already aged visage looking even more ancient in the heat of the moment. Their plan had blown up into their faces, and he damned himself for dragging his friends into this mess instead of having waited for the bigger hunter packs to provide some backup. Instead he risked everything to end the vampire threat and yet here they were, raven breathing stertorously as she was choking on her own blood, the fiendish vampire looming over her body, lapping at the torrent of blood gushing from her neck. Emma had it worse, her ruined form lying on the ground with a pool of dark blood growing larger by the second around her lifeless frame.

it was only him and two of his younger accomplices now, or rather just him, the other two having already fled the scene. They were in a way wiser than him.
Gritting his teeth to the point of chipping them the old hunter reloaded his weapon, watching Oxford disappear into the shadows as he dodged the silver harpoon....

But just as he readied his weapon to try and end the wretched pale-eyed demon's life a crimson pair of eyes came into sight as Vanessa leaped at him from the shadows, teeth bared as her bloodied claws lashed out at him.
She would end him for what he did, paying for what he did to her sister.
Her pupils narrowed into predatory slits as the vampire threw herself unto the vampire hunter, the two of them tumbling to the floor as they tried to end each other.
Claws slashed at aged skin as a hunting knife drew black blood, making the sounds of Vanessa's hissing fill the warehouse as the sounds of Dexter being disarmed followed, his knife scraping against the cold floor as the two of them landed not far from Elara...

And he knew it was his end, even if he managed to kill the Vampire the others would devour him where he stood and with one last push Dexter decided to make the vampire regret ever having settled down in HIS town.
"You took my family, monster! I'll take yours!" The old hunter chuckled as he pressed his harpoon against Vanessa's abdomen before grinning widely.

....

Pulling the trigger Vanessa screamed like a banshee as the silver harpoon pierced her midriff, the projectile with its silver thread leave her back as time seemed to freeze...
The sharpened projectile, now black with Vanessa's blood flying towards Elara, Dexter's gaze following his weapon's path towards the one responsible for his own hunter family's demise...

Elara's mouth feel siightly agape as she narrowly avoided the spray of her sister's unnaturally dark and thick blood. "Vanessa!" The scream tore through her throat as she rushed over to the vampire's side, Oxford quickly dealing with the hunter, the wet snap of his neck resonating around the warehouse before he joined the human woman. It was clear the harpoon was made of silver as well as the wound being more than fatal. But for now, seeing the shirt Vanessa was dressed compeltely drenched in blood was enough to have her fall silent, the older vampire busying himself by wordlessly checking for signs of life.

A pained cough escaped Vanessa's throat as black blood gushed forth, forming a small river running down her pale chin. Whatever internal organs the harpoon may have skewered were less of a problem than the biting sting of silver that made the vampire's flesh grow numb and lifeless, even more so than it usually was.
All the while Oxford was pressing his hand against the wound, his usually calm demeanor dissipating as he watched black blood seeping through his fingers, the flow of blood seeming never ending as the pale-eyed vampire let go of a throaty "Bloody hell"

As the crimson glow started to fade from Vanessa's eyes the Vampire turned towards her sister, her lips slowly shifting into a pained grin, only vaguely mirroring her signature toothy smile of hers.
"Seems like it was a tad too late to be an actual decent sister for once, huh?" The vampire remarked weakly, flinching as her hand came to rest over Oxford's own, trying to stop the bleeding. Removing the silver harpoon under these circumstances would only quicken Vanessa's end, unable to regenerate from such a fatal wound, yet she clung to undeath with all the might she could muster up.

And everyone was forced to watch how life seemed to just drain from her body. Even Hollie who seemed to never be able to hold still was visibly shook and quiet like a graveyard, only slowly stepping towards her fellow vampires.
"Oh well...It was my fault for ever dragging you into this anyways..." Vanessa mumbled, raising her hand towards Elara as Oxford gritted his teeth.
"Hang on...There has to be something we can do. If we get back home fast enough we're just going to empty all the blood bags for you, just hang on damnit!" Oxford cursed as he pressed his hands against the wound, the silver leaving its mark as his own hands started to feel numb as rigor mortis started to set in for both vampires.
"Blood, all we need is blood to patch you up! Just keep holding on!"

As they mentioned blood was necessary for the undead woman to remain as alive as she possibly could, Oxford's eyes wide eyes immediately went over to the lifeless body of Dexter, blood that was still warm sitting within his veins not that far away. Moving quickly, he went to try and shift the rather large man's body, but was having noticeable difficulty. Not all that sure if he would be able to move it in time, Elara remained on the ground beside her sister. "You were doing what you always did..." She replied earnestly, albeit sill with clear hints of concern. "Trying to get the best for everyone, seeing as it was blood you were after." She knew she was stretching the truth a bit more than she should've, but she couldn't help it seeing as Vanessa was bleeding out before her.

The older vampire finally reached the siblings with the corpse, he lifting a lifeless wrist to his mouth and using his fangs to tear open an artery, blood flowing freely as he shoved the limb into Vanessa's mouth. "Drink." he instructed, sounding more like a concerned father rather than an undead fiend.

Groaning in pain as she shifted her numb body Vanessa's hands came to grasp the hunter's wrist, nails burying into still warm flesh as the vampire pressed her gaping maw against the flowing stream of blood. Greedily taking in the life essence that allowed her kind to live so unnaturally long, yet instead of matching the image the media had of vampires, the beautiful aristocrat with pale skin and dreamy eyes, the scene unfolding before Elara's eyes was one of a starved beast feeding on human blood.

The vile sound of blood being lapped up and fangs burying into dead tissue echoed through the abandoned warehouse as everything seemed to grow silent, a wide smile starting to appear on Holly's face as color returned to Vanessa's face, the vampire soon enough growling as her hand came to rest on the silver harpoon that had impaled her, pushing it out through her back as her black blood tainted the floor behind her.
Finally pulling the silver out of her body Vanessa exhaled in relief, lying down in a pool of her own blood as her hand came to rest on her forehead, groaning like someone who had been kicked in the guts...

Breathing heavily the vampire tried to regain her composure, the wound the silver had left only slowly starting to mend, tissue starting to regrow as the blood stopped flowing.
"Welcome to the realm of the un-living." Oxford remarked with a soft smile as Holly glomped him from behind, grinning wide like a child on christmas day.

"Humor doesn't suit you, Oxford." Vanessa chuckled, her face crunching up into a pained grimace as Oxford helped her up, supporting her as they turned towards Elara.
"Well, turned out better than expected, huh? All these bastards are dead and we won't have to deal with any of this stuff anymore."

"I wouldn't count on it." The british vampire remarked with a raised eyebrow as he motioned towards the exit.
"Let us leave this morbid place." He added as he avoided stepping into the ruined remnants that used to be Emma.

It didn't take long for them to drive back to their lair, the house seeming even more lifeless than last time Elara had visited them.
Stepping out of the rusty bucket they called a vehicle the four friends made their way over to the front door, the key turned in the lock as the creaky door swept open.
"Home, sweet home, huh?" Vanessa remarked with a grin as she turned towards Elara.

Yet once they were inside and made their way into the living room they were greeted by a all too familiar sight sitting on Vanessa's personal armchair, a triumphant grin creeping unto Emilia's face as she looked over the four vampires.
"Damn guys, you look like shit."

Only for two coven henchmen to appear out of the shadows, overwhelming the vampires.
One of them pinning Holly and Oxford to the floor as the other roughly shoved the human and still recovering vampire forwards, sending them tumbling to the ground right before Emilia's feet.
"Oh, how the tables have turned, huh. Really thought it was so easy?" Emilia remarked with a cruel chuckle.

At the sight of the dilapidated home, Elara soon felt slightly comforted, but that didn't last all that long as Emilia was found seated on a chair within. Two unfamiliar and most likely coven entwined vampires at her side. The woman spoke as if she were a villain within an over dramatic action film, which didn't help the situation as the human looked worriedly to Vanessa although unwilling to stand. "Oh how pitiful." Emilia remarked sarcastically. "The poor human looking for her big bad sister for help." Finding her voice, she somehow was able to force out a response, eyes narrowing slightly but not loosing their fearful gleam. "You realize that I had fooled you as well." She sat up a bit more within her chair. "I had my doubts and should've dealt with you when I had the chance." "If you had doubts why didn't you do something?" She replied quickly, the vampire clearly unwilling to admit how she had been tricked with the grunts beside her casting her glances. "Enough of this..." she muttered. "Get them up and into the damn van." Standing as of the coven members grabbed Vanessa, roughly lifting her from the floor as Emilia decided to be oh so generous and take Elara. "Try anything." She said with an eager, fangy smile. "And I'll tear her neck op-" she was quickly cut off by one of the other vampires. "Watch it." He growled. "The boss wants them alive. You're the expendable one."

Even with them being at their mercy Vanessa couldn't help herself but to grace Emilia with a mocking grin, flashing her eight curved fangs in defiance. "From being my underling to becoming the Coven's dog. My, my, you're really making history here when it comes to the shittiest promotion ever." The weakened vampire chuckled as Emilia's eyes narrowed, a gaze that could make milk turn sour, yet Vanessa was awfully nonchalant about it...

Yet in her head she was running around in circles, cussing and trying to come up with a plan to get them out of the coven's grasp. Yet when she glanced over to Oxford even he was in a pickle, showing just how many powerful vampires made up the coven's ranks, being able to even overpower the pale-eyed Brit.
Turning her attention to Elara Vanessa raised an eyebrow, trying to show none of her concern.
"Don't worry, we'll get out of this in no time!"

"You wish..." Emilia remarked under her breath as they were thrown into the back of a tacky limo, flanked by equally intimidating coven dogs, with bald heads and sunken eyes. Probably starved and conditioned to lick their master's boots.

It didn't take long for them to arrive at their destination, yet seconds stretched out into what seemed like hours as it felt like they were sheep being led to their slaughter. All the while Emilia's thin lips twitched into a sadistic smile. Whatever she'd get out of this, be it revenge or some sick satisfaction, wasn't probably all she got from ratting out her ex-collegues.
The Coven was a strict hierarchy, governed by pure blood vampires and climbing the ladder to higher ranks was nigh-impossible for a common vampire...

Yet the masters knew that making their underlings cannibalize themselves for their own gain was a sure way to breed cunning and strength in the weaker vampires, and they probably promised Emilia some small ruling position where she could make herself feel better for being just a miserable fourth generation bloodsucker.

Arriving at the backstreet alley to a massive club the four of them were pushed out of the limo, the booming sound of music and the scent of alcohol, blood and other substances making Vanessa pucker her nose in disgust.
They had been lead to one of the Coven's hideouts, where they just abused their power for their own pleasure, whatever awaited them inside was far from being pleasant for them...

"In you go!" Emilia commanded as the coven dogs roughly led the four of them through the back entrance to the club.
The entirety of the club was dark and only illuminated by crimson flashing lights, allowing them to catch glimpses of bodies pressed against each other and blood flowing, a real feeding frenzy for vampires...

Yet they were not allowed to think too much about what was transpiring in the club as they were brought into a smaller chamber, far less dark and where the music was not drowning any coherent thought.
Filled with cages, constraints and one big desk in the middle where a child-like creature sat.
Physically looking younger than Elara the girl on the crimson armchair graced the newcomers with a welcoming smile, tucking a strand of pale blonde hair behind her ear, adorned by red gemstones.

"Welcome! I had feared we'd never see you amongst our family again! It is not befitting our heritage to have these little family feuds. And outliners should be reminded of that!" The young girl spoke as she took a sip of what looked like tea, but wasn't.
"Bring them forth." The ancient vampire spoke, gesturing with her clawed finger to bring Vanessa and her friends before her desk.
