Realistic or Modern A New Breed of Justice

PressureCooker

Under a lot of pressure rn
New Carthage was one of the world's largest, busiest, and grandest cities. However, despite its extravagant outward appearance, it was rotten internally. Corruption was always rife throughout the majority of the city, and, following the simultaneous inductions of multiple top-ranking corrupted officials into office, the city took a plunge. Now, both the city's government and law enforcement are controlled by powerful criminal syndicates, who use their new positions to extend and increase their activities all over the city. Although there are some honest cops and officials still in the system, they are too powerless to do anything. Without anybody to take care of them, the good, hardworking citizens of the city live in fear, and few dare to climb up into a higher position in life, lest they attract the unwanted attention of the crime families.

(details will get more specific once the rp is actually set up).

This is where you come in. You take the role of one of the few people who have taken a stand against the crime and evilness that is rampant throughout the city. Your character in this RP is a vigilante, who has dedicated their lives to restoring the city back to its former glory. Your character can be a veteran crimefighter, or a novice, nevertheless, you have the skills and assets effectively make yourself known and feared in the criminal community.

More information: The city's government is corrupt, but not to the point that legal process are ignored. Criminals turned in to the police will receive punishment. However, their sentences my be cut short, or even waived depending on how high their profile is. There are still honest government officials and police officers, but they cannot attract too much attention to themselves.

The city is divided into several parts:

Downtown: This is where all the high rises and skyscrapers are located. Just like in other existing cities, many companies have their headquarters here, and contains the city's government buildings and financial buildings. (example: Major banks, stock exchange, etc.)

Uptown: More suburban than downtown. Few high-rises. Mostly residential areas, and small businesses.

Slums: Area surrounding uptown. Impoverished region, with a notable lack of effective law-enforcement.

Docks: New Carthage has a busy harbor. The docks contain multiple large warehouses, and large storage areas.

Waterfront: Where the wealthy Carthaginians live. Clean, upscale, and filled with high-end mansions, restaurants, hotels, etc. (Imagine a stereotypical wealthy beachfront area).

Industrial area: Located between Uptown and the slums. Home to a large amount of factories and processing plants.

The city is connected by means of several large highways, and an underground metro system.

Crime families:

The city is controlled by 3 major criminal organizations:

The Colombine Cartel: Controls the docks, Uptown, and the industrial area.

The Roman Crime Syndicate: Controls downtown, also pays off the largest number of corrupt officials.

The Pitbulls: A large gang that holds control over most of the slums, as well as a portion of uptown.

All 3 major criminal organizations are on friendly terms with each other.
