Benjamin Jones
Age: 20 (2012)
Height: 6’

Appearance: Built Farmboy

Years of lifting hay bails and working on the ranch have put muscle on Benjamin. He has just enough fat to make sure those muscles aren't ridiculously toned, and that he has weight to back them up, but he certainly is attractive by normal standards. His eyes and hair are both brown though his hair is more on the sandy brown side and his eyes on the mellow, oak brown side of things. He often wears stained white t-shirts and tanktops with faded blue jeans when working, and he wears polo shirts and button ups when he's coaching. He has a pair of gloves that are high standard he is very protective of; even has his initials on the inner cuff of both.

Personality: When All You Have is a Hammer, Everything Looks like a Nail

Ben has often been seen as one of the less intelligent just because he doesn't talk much. Well, he just doesn't talk much around people he doesn't know. Around his family and around people he knows, he's actually very talkative on any subject he knows about. Namely building and fixing things, but also nature itself and baseball. He's a pretty easy going guy; not the type to become easily angered. One of the few things that does anger him is insulting or threatening his family. He knows how to hunt and has a gun that belongs solely to him and if his family were in danger, he would take it upon himself to protect them at any cost. He often shoulders more work then he should, and he's just not the type that asks for help. He hates being a burden on other people, and often does what he can to help and support people that need it. At least the people he knows and cares about.

Likes - A good days work, Watching/Playing Sports, Being Outdoors, a Home Cooked meal, Iced Lemonade on a Hot Day

Dislikes - Fighting of any sort, Yelling when direct at people, threats or insults to his friends and family, people who are lazy

Fears - Losing his Family in any way, shape, or form.

History - The American Dream... not so much a dream

It was fairly common for the families that lived on farms and ranches to be rather large. Benjamin's was no different. He had 3 older brothers, one younger brother and 2 younger sisters. It was a full house, and that wasn't including his parents, his neighbors which were more family (Aunts, Uncles, cousins) and all of the animals they cared for. Benjamin grew up in this; always surrounded by family, never really exposed to the outside world until school.

When school did come around, he was definitely one of the guys who goofed off more then listened to the teacher but it was mostly because he didn't understand and didn't know how to ask for the help to understand. It was like all the other kids were struggling too, but just wouldn't admit it- at least in his mind. That being said there was no task that Ben would back down from when it was physical. Physical Education was one of his best classes, that and biology surprisingly enough. He just had a natural interest and understanding of both the human body and the things of nature. Throughout school he struggled quite a bit, only keeping his grades together enough to be able to participate in sports.

The expectation to go to college was heavy on his shoulders, despite how two of his brothers had joined the military after high school. How his brothers even managed to make it into the army with what happened t their father was forever a mystery to Ben. Having lost the man when he was 6 , it was a devastation the entire family had to work together to overcome. The military became a bad thing the day the men showed up at the door with the flag and the news his father had been killed. And yet both Josh and Timmothy decided to join in, but Ben was having none of that. He didn't really know what he wanted, so he went to college for a year on a sports scholarship only to realize that that's not what he wanted. He ended up coming back home to his mother's both delight and dismay. He has a reputation with the family at the moment as being a slacker, despite being a hard worker around the ranch. It's not really... something to be proud of, dropping out of college. Still, his brother's death had been quite the wakeup call and Ben realized he just wanted to be home. And so he got a job as a baseball coach, and then began working the ranch to earn his keep.

Family: Broken Pieces make a Whole

Mother - Emma Jones (52) - Stay at home mom, very overprotective. She and Ben have a distant relationship

Father (deceased) - Thomas Jones -45- died in 1998 - Military man, died when Ben was young. He never really got to know him.

Step Father - John Miller - (54) Mail man, which is how Emma and he met.

Oldest Brother (29) Josh Jones - Military man, never really had much to do with Ben. Spent more time with Tim. TIm's death hit him hard, but he's still in the military

2nd Oldest (deceased) Timmothy Jones -25- died in 2011 - Military man, was very close to Josh. Another brother Ben never really got to know, though.

3rd Oldest (25) Gene Jones - Going to college for a degree in law. Trying to escape farm life completely; was a bully to Ben most of the time growing up.

Ben (20) - dropped out of college to come home, works as a baseball coach during the baseball season

Younger Sister (17) Sarah Jones - She's definitely hit her rebellious streak, but she and Ben have stuck together like glue and she tends to confide her troubles to Ben.

Youngest Brother (14) Michael Jones - The baby of the Jones' family, Ben and Sarah both looked after him and protected him from bullies at school. Ben looks upon Mikey with fondness.

Youngest Sister (5) Lilly Jones - A child born between their mother and step father, Ben isn't entirely sure what to do with her. She's very pretty, of course, and a sweet enough kid but still Ben doesn't know.

Uncle (45) Eugene Jones - Ben's favorite Uncle. They often go hunting and fishing together. Was more a father then his own father was.

Aunt (42) Cindy Jones - She would often have Ben and Sarah over at their house and spoil them with sweets like a grandmother would, except she was cooler then any grandmother (not that Ben had anything to compare to. His grandparents passed away before he was born).

Cousin (17) Mindy Jones - Ben's best friend other then Sarah; very close. Mindy is who Ben tends to confide in, despite her being 3 years younger.

Cousin (15) Joseph Jones - Mikey spent more time with Joseph and Joanne but Ben appreciates them for being Mikey's much needed friends.

Cousin (15) Joanne Jones - she is Joseph's twin and though they're fraternal, they may as well have been identical since they look very much alike.

Uncle (39) Evan Jones - kind of estranged, he is definitely the crazy paranoid uncle. He helps out on the farm, but otherwise Ben doesn't have much to do with Uncle Evan.

Location: Altamont, Utah - USA

Ben has spent almost all of his life in this place, except for the year away he was at college. He prefers the quieter life of the rural town, and the large ranches. Not that he dislikes people, he just doesn't prefer their company except in small numbers. He loves hanging out with his sister and cousins, but doesn't like being surrounded by a lot of people.

His house is the largest on the property- it was Ben's grandparent's house and Ben's mom never really left the house. She just continued to live there, and when she got married her husband came to live there as well. The house his Uncle Eugene lives in is smaller, but still a fair sized house. It's a short walk away from Ben's and he often spent more time in that house then his own if he could help it. Uncle Evan's house is a little log shack that the man built himself. He is almost always in it, unless he's doing his chores on the ranch.

Anna-Klara ”Anka” Alm/monthly_2016_11/ankaaa.jpg.16814e233b0966fa94de774a52452e3a.jpg

Age: 20 (2016)

Height: 5’5”

Appearance:

Preppy, artsy, collage student

Anna-Klara is short and sort of thin, which makes her fit a small frame and look rather frail. She is still fit enough from running a couple of times a week, but she is nowhere near the more athletic form she used to have when she was younger and played badminton several times a week. She's got big, deep-blue, eyes and long, blonde, hair that she dyes in velvet or copper reds more often than is good for it. She sometimes wears large, black, fake glasses and likes to wear colourful, fluffy, scarves and sometimes artsy beret caps along with her otherwise preppy to chic fashion of clothes. When putting on make-up she always goes for the natural with defined eyes kind of look.

Personality:

High expectations lead to high disappointments.

Anka is a bit quriky and always very curious about other people. She is seen as a charming and seemingly happy person in most cases, and is never far from making new friends and contacts due to her ability to strike great first impressions. While she makes new friends from one day to another she has problems opening up enough to actually make close and lasting friendships, which is a fact that constantly haunts her. Anka likes to think of herself as sophisticated and artistic, but there is a touch of pretense over her. She always acts as if she knows more than she actually does. While she is curious and likes to try new things, she is actually the kind of person to shy from things that she doesn't excell in at once, and she has a hard time admitting to herself that she is not in control of a situation. This is one of her biggest flaws, since she usually learn things both quick and well once she actually allows herself to fail and try again.

Likes – A good book or movie, Singing, Drawing, Cafés and Student pubs, Badminton , Extra milk in her coffee.

Dislikes – Violence, Losing, Eating meat (She's a vegetarian), and people who brag about their accomplishments.

Fears – Not being good enough or letting anyone down.

History:

Quite ordinary and always second best.

Anka grew up in one of the more decently regarded suburbs of the Swedish capitol city - Stockholm. Her childhood was quite regular and ordinary, she was happy, did well in school and had no problems finding friends. But even if she was a good kid that never get into trouble it was somehow never enough, she always felt that she didn't do well enough, that she didn't have good enough friends, and that she wasn't satisfying the expectations of her parents. Why? Because of her older sister, Frida, who always did everything better than her. If Anka got good grades then Frida had perfect grades, if Anka got a silver medal  at a badminton condition then Frida already had seven gold medals, and if Anka had nice friends Frida's friends was regarded as saints. The only thing Anka seemed to do better than her sister was drawing and singing, so naturally she became interested in art. When Anka was done with school she moved, to Uppsala, for higher education in arts and literature.

Family and friends:

Mother, Father, Sister and some strange kids.

Mother – Elisabeth (48), works as a clerk in the a local pet store. She is very caring and is often a bit too helpful. She gets along well with Anna-Klara but they do not always agree on Anka's choices in life. Elisabeth constantly remind Anka to be more like here sister.

Father – Anders (49), works as a carpenter. Has a sort of chilly relationship to Anka as of late. He doesn't really take her struggles seriously. He always were over protective however, and as such he doesn't like the fact that she live by herself in a far away city.

Sister – Frida (24), currently on her last semester of medecine in Umeå. As Anka's older sister, Frida has always been there to set the standard – an awfully high standard. Even if Anka was always doing her best she was never as good as Frida, not in school, not with friends, not at Badminton. The two sisters do get along, but truth be told, Frida was always their parents' favourite, at least according to Anna-Klara.

Classmate - Hannah (20), currently in the same class as Anka. She is sort of a nerdy girl from Uppsala that loves videogames and comic books and sometimes dresses in hoodies with cat ears. The two get along well and hang out all the time at university, though they live in different parts of town and seldom see each other outside of school.

Dormmate - Danielle (22), a girl from the Swedish west coast that studies to become a teacher in home economics and arts. She is very caring and very... Christian.

Dormmate - Michael (24), a guy from the north of Sweden. That is currently in his fourth year of biotechnology... Something! He is a nice guy who's acted sort of like a big brother for Anka, showing her all the cool places and clubs in Uppsala.

Class/Dormmate - John (25), is in the same class as Anka and  Hannah. He is a nerdy rocker kind of guy. He is a decent enough person but can be rather lazy and careless and sometimes be a bit full of himself. Not a perfect combo.

Location:

Student dorm/ghetto in Uppsala, Sweden

As of the last couple of months Anka lives in Uppsala, the fourth biggest city in Sweden. Though it's big by Swedish standards it's actually quite a tiny little town by most other standards. Anka makes her home in a tiny room in one of the several large buildings in the area known as Flogsta. It's a neighbourhood that primarily houses students. It's far from a quiet place, and is sometimes called a ghetto due to the fact that it's very run down and seems to have it's own rules and laws.

Theme Song

I chose this song because it feels to me that it's about not opening up and hiding feelings of the inside. Might be an miss/overinterpretation though.

Supporting Cast (2016)

Hannah Limone (Anka's classmate)

Hannah Limone

Age: 20 (2016)

Height: 5'4"

Appearance:

Part skater, part Weeaboo.

Hannah is just a tad bit shorter than Anka. She has medium long blonde hair and icy blue eyes. Her way of dressing her hair and putting on make-up is often kind of exaggerated in the way that makes one look like a doll (more precisely in Hannah's case, a Japanese one!). Her clothes are more so on the streety, or skater kinde of side of things. Though, her favourite hoodie has cat-ears.

Personality:

"Something between a know-it-all little sister and a pet seal"

Hannah is a calm and observing person. She is smart and well-read on a rather wide amount of subjects, and is prone to correct anyone who happens to be wrong about anything. Though she can be sort of a know-it-all,  she is easy-going, talkative, and likes to make jokes and laugh. It's obvious that she spends a lot of time on the internet, since her way of phrasing herself as well as her humour resembles that of internet memes and trends. Though she is actually very smart, she can come off as clumpsy and gullible in social situations, something which she often use to make people laugh or to feel at ease around her.  She can be forgetful of things, and is sort of a spender.

Likes - Anime, Manga, Video Games, Comics, Computers, Skateboarding.

Dislikes - Mainstream music, stereotypes and prejudice, religion.

History:

From rural to urban

Hannah grew up in a house that lay in the middle of the forest close only to a tiny village in the country a some miles outside of Uppsala. When she was a kid it was a good thing; she could play in the fields and forests, fish in the lakes and just be surrounded by nature. Due to the remote location of their house, she was a rather lonely child, not that she had any problems getting friends, but no one lived very near so she only ever met her friends in school. This made her spend much time playing games, reading, and browsing the internet where she still spends much of her time. However, when she became older she started hating living so far from town and all her friends, which made her decide to move in with her grandfather and brother (who had done so a few years prior because of the similar reasons) by the age of 16. She then went to school in central Uppsala and became sort of a jetset kid and took up skateboarding. As of late she studies art and litterature at the university.

Location:

Sweet but sorta inaccessible apartment

Hannah lives together with her older brother - Theo (25) - in a big and fancy apartment in the central parts of Uppsala. It's actually their grandfather's apartment, but they live in it since he's been in a coma for several years. Anka and the others seldom visit Hannah since her brother clearly doesn't like it when they are there. The only time they ever really visit is when Theo is not at home or if John is with them (since he is good friends with Theo).

WIP

Danielle Orre (Anka's dormmate)

Danielle Orre

Age: 22 (2016)

Height: 5'11"

Appearance:

Thin, tall and traditional

Danielle is rather tall, a decent bit taller than the average woman in fact. Her dark brown hair on the other hand is not so long, it's cut a bit below the shoulders in a bob-cut, though she likes to wear it in a ponytail most of the time. She wears unfashionable glasses and dresses in a rather classic way, preferring blouses and shirts with jeans rather than any edgier and modern alternatives. She doesn't wear much jewelry, save from a silver cross necklace.

Personality:

A day wasted on others is a day not wasted on oneself.

Danielle is very helpful and caring, always trying to make sure other people don't get into bad situations. That being said, Danielle's idea of good and bad isn't always in line with her subject's. This often leads to Danielle's 'helping' getting in the way of other people, and sometimes to conflict. Why? Well, she is guided by a very strong traditional christian faith, and even if she quite modern in many ways, her way of seeing things can sometimes appear very conservative (especially so to the young students in the one of the world's most progressive countries). It's hard to explain new things to Danielle, since she is the kind of person who sees things in black and white or right and wrong.

Likes - Flowers, cooking, art, going to church, peace and quiet, the ocean.

Dislikes - Noisy neighbours, alcohol and drugs, cold weather.

History:

West Coast Best Coast Change Coast

Danielle hails from a tiny town on the Swedish West Coast, which is a rather short part of coast in the southern parts of the country, wedged in between Denmark and Norway. She grew up in a big house with many brothers and sisters. However, Danielle is something of an afterthought child, and as such many of her siblings were already grown up or in their teens by the time she was born. She didn't have many friends growing up, so naturally she developed her imagination quite a bit and left time over for her to help out at home, in church, and with her uncle and aunt's florist shop. In school she didn't do all that well, she had to really pull some weight to understand things that most other kids seemed to grasp instantly. This was what led her to eventually getting into arts, which was a subject she seemed to be able to grasp just as easy as anyone else and where she could put her imagination to good use.

Location:

The homiest room in Flogsta

Danielle lives in Flogsta, the same building and corridor as Anka, Michael and John. Her room is very nicely decorated, with curtains sewn by her mother, many beautiful plants and flowers and other things adorning the walls and shelves. All furniture is very nice and classy, not the ordinary Ikea crap that most students buy for their temporary homes in Flogsta. Being in Danielle's room is like being in a 'real' home and not some run-down box like most other student's homes.

John Falkk (Anka's dorm/classmate)

John Falkk

Age: 25 (2016)

Height: 5'9"

Appearance:

Rocker with a nerdy touch.

John is of about average height and weight. He has medium long hair and a beard, both equally messy. It's easy to tell that he the guy goes to the gym once in a while since he has some visible muscles on him, and due to the fact that he wears a bit too tight, often black with a band logo, t-shirts just to show it off. You clearly get a rocker kind of vibe from him; trashy blue jeans or skinny black jeans and leather jackets. But he also sports many accessories that betrays his nerdy side; Millennium Falcon keyring, Nintendo themed converse, and most importantly, his signature Batman cap.

Personality:

Usually things eventually gets better.

John is laid back and lazy most of the time. He is in no way a hard worker and simply counts on everything to magically solve itself if it gets to complicated for him to handle. He is never really worried about anything that concerns just himself. He does however try to show a bit of care for his friends and family, but is not the best listener around nor does he give very good advice. He simply likes to be in the centre of attention too much.

Likes - Batman, Star Wars, Video Games, Rock music, Partying, Sleeping.

Dislikes - Reading, Weeaboos, Losing, Sports.

History:

One step forward takes two steps back

John grew up in one of the suburbs to Uppsala. His parents were often arguing when he grew up, and there were times when his mom would go to live with her friends for weeks in a row. This made John's home a rather insecure place, and as such he spent as much time as possible hanging out at his friends' and playing video games. When he was a teenager he was in the same school as Theo, Hannah's older brother, and the two quickly became best friends and John even lived with Hannah and Theo for a while to get away from his parents. John has switched programs at the university more times than is good for him, and he already has student loans way above his head.

Location:

"The dungeon"

The room furthest into the corridor and certainly the least homey one. People simply call John's room The Dungeon because it's always in such a mess. Under the layers of clothes and pizza boxes, there are a spider's net of cords that are hooked up to the gaming consoles, big PC with two computer screens, three or something electric guitars, a big freaking sound system and a huge flatscreen TV. The ceiling light is broken and has been for the past month, not that John bothers to replace it.
