In the dull light of the morning, the town of Blooming Grange was abuzz with activity. Shops opened their doors, kids rushed off to school, and the Little Rose Coffee Shop and Tearoom was open for business. The owner and manager of Little Rose, Rosetta Terrence III, was sitting in her office, contemplating. “I work with children. Literal children.” she sighed, taking a sip of her tea. Rosetta, also known as “Boss Lady” was quite busy trying to sort out the finances of Little Rose, seeing if there was indeed enough left over to build the daycare extension.

“Aah!”

The shout came from one Adam Merren, barista at Little Rose, who had the unfortunate luck of having piping hot coffee splash out of the pot and onto his hand. Granted this was not the first time it had happened, and he was quite used to it. He ran it under cold water for a moment before returning to work.

Ding! The customers began flooding in, and among them was Luka Terrence, the boss’s son and only child. “Today’s going to be a good day.” he declared, sliding up to the counter. “Good morning, Adam! Still handsome as ever.” he winked. It was no secret that he liked Adam, and was a shameless flirt. “I’ll take a medium iced green tea.”

That was morning at Little Rose in Blooming Grange, as it had been for a long time.

Margaret Eden
It's my right to be hellish, I still get jealous

For Margaret Eden, the break room was a place of ''move it or lose it''. Having overslept after a long shift at the convenience store the previous night, the young girl had decided to simply prepare in the confines of the bathroom. Within a few minutes, she'd changed out of a shirt and shorts for sleeping, into work friendly attire, and utilized the sink for washing her hair. Exiting the room, she tied on her apron and began her day behind the counter.

''You okay babe?'' She glanced over at her boyfriend, slightly startled at his yelp of surprise. Once satisfied that he wasn't seriously injured, she leaned down to give him a quick kiss on the cheek before moving over to a different area of the counter.

As the customers rolled in, Mary began attending to her first customer, Lisa Stone, one of the first people she'd ever served, whom she was currently talking through her messy divorce. Smiling and nodding as the lady gave her the latest updates, interrupting only to clarify, and inform her that her coffee was ready to go. Glancing over at Adam's section she noticed Luka flirting with him once more.

Since she had no line, and a customer waiting to be served near Adam, she walked over to the two men with a slight smile on her face. Though she never said anything, it didn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that she wasn't fond of Luka or his constant attempts to steal her boyfriend. ''Hey Luka.'' She remarked, before taking the order for a simple coffee, and leaving to prepare it. Upon return, she handed him the order, collected the fee, and turned back to her boss's son. ''Adam agreed to leave me for you yet?'' She joked, with a lighthearted smile, even if she was annoyed by him.

Akira took out her phone, checking the digits to see if she had some spare time to get a drink before she was supposed to meet her student. She smiled, 'Alright, time to go to Rose's!' she thought to herself, happily adjusting the guitar case strapped on her shoulders as she walked leisurely towards the cafe her little sister worked in. Mimi wasn't working now, since she's at school, but it was still an enjoyable place to visit for the amazing drinks, calming atmosphere and staff.

The bell above the door rung out as Akira entered the quiet cafe, a bright cheery smile on her face. "Morning guys!" She called out as she walked in. "How's everyone doing?" She waved to the regulars and staff she could recognize, walking over to stand next to them, with the carefree smile still on her face.
