Realistic or Modern A Broad Grey Line

Police Detective Alex Infini stood patiently in the bank line at the mall to withdraw cash. He could have used the ATM but the line was just as long, if not longer, and he enjoyed human interaction, and it gave him time to consider gift ideas for his family. He could have just as easily paid for everything with credit or debit, but his daughters knew how to read bank statements and he wouldn't put it past them to steam envelopes.

He smiles at the thought, they knew all the tricks. He'd handled the rebellious teenage years by allowing them to get away with anything they could - and stiffly penalizing anything they couldn't. He considered himself a crafty old law dog and enjoyed having younger minds to keep him on his toes. Beyond that he'd hid many a wild escapade from his folks when he was younger and he still knew a few tricks his girls didn't. His novel solution seemed to have worked so far, and it at least ensured that any youthful indiscretions were kept discrete and thereby didn't get out of hand.

He was of average height but stocky with hidden muscle. He had an open face, honest, with dark blue eyes. His hair was blonde, dulled to the color of damp hay in the winter and recovering from being buzzed military short in summer. He is a bit too warm in his black pea coat but he keeps it on out of long habit. He has a concealed carry license.

He arrives at the window, and withdraws a few hundred dollars. He and his wife did well, but he was borrowing against their monthly budget until his Christmas bonus came through in a few weeks. It'd be alright though, in the end. He was a planner and abhored last minute shopping.

Today was supposed Marshall Murdock day off. He was getting a espresso at the local Starbucks shop when his personal phone vibrated in his denim jean pocket. There were only two people who ever called him on personal phone, the retirement home and his step-father. Taking his phone out, Marshall saw an unknown number and it said to go to the local city bank that just so happened to be across from the coffee shop. Before Marshall could even swipe open the text, the message disappeared. Marshall let out a frustrated sigh as his shoulder tensed and did as the texted had asked. The need for espresso was long forgotten.

Marshall Murdock was older fella and one could tell by few grey hairs that began to replace his normal light brown hair. He blamed it on the stress of the job as well as the passing of his biological farther. Though Marshall was rather short and thin, his reflexes were still at their peak despite his older. age. One of the few reason why Marshall became private investigator and worked alone, was because he didn't work well with others. In addition to poor social skills, Marshall, over his lifespan lost respect for the police force. This not to say he down right hated them, but he thought the department could use some revamping.Rather then becoming an activist,he decided to become a private investigator. Which also meant both his love and social life were non-existent.

He had dark brown eyes and usually wore jeans and white button up t-shirt. You could tell when he on a job when he was wearing a suit and caring a suit case with him. His face was always stone cold and his eyes rarely gave away his emotional state. Marshall had short temper and wasn't one to listen to others opinions. He too had a concealed licensed.

Upon entering the he noticed that there weren't any on duty cops or security. At least none that he could see. What was even more strange was it seemed like lights within bank were flickering.but only slightly. Marshall couldn't see anyone who looked suspicious or stood out within line that was for cashing in checks or desk where they made them. What Marshall failed to see was the dark grey jeep and hot pink van that pulled out in-front of the bank.

That's when the lights went out and everyone began to scream.
