Emmett wasn't happy. About 4 hours ago, his parents had made him pack up his bags for a long trip to a neighbooring kingdom. They also had very good news for him. "Congratulations!' They had said. "You're getting married!" Emmett had responded with a weak "yay" when they told him what was going on, but he wasnt excited at all to meet his would be bride. He rested his cheek against the cold window of the carriage. Outside, rain battered against the window. Emmett sighed. What he heard about the princess wasn't good. She was mean and haughty, if the rumors were true. Lost in his thoughts, Emmett only realized he had reached his destination when the carriage stopped. He took a deep breath and slide open the carriage door. He then walked proudly down the walkway to the castle door, eyeing the structure with a shudder. Hesitating only slightly, Emmett knocked on the hard, oaken door.

Rick was walking quickly to the door as the parents of the princess yelled to him to hurry up. He was actually in decent shape despite that fact he was a servant. He was a light boy, and his clothes were everything but nice. They were comfortable, and clean, that was all he cared about. Sweeping his blonde fringe from his hazel eyes with a flick of his head, he opened the large oaken door and bowed respectfully."Please come in Your Majesty. They have been expecting you."After Emmett had entered he closed the door and offered to take his bags and show him to his room.

"Ah, yes, that's very kind of you, thank you," Emmett said to the servant boy. Emmett did a quick glance over of the servant. He looked a little younger than Emmett, but sturdy. It seemed like he was in good shape. Emmett was glad it seemed his future in-laws treated their servants properly. Emmett knew some royals beat their servants. It was something Emmett didn't like to think about.

Emmett ran a hand through his thick dirty blond hair as he followed the servant boy to his room. The hall was wide and made him feel small. The prince felt a little self-conscious. "So..." he began, trying to make small talk. "How are things run around here?"

Rick glanced behind him."For you, Your Majesty, you get to choose how some things are run. Overall Princess Ariana's parents, the King and Queen, have complete rule over everyone until they leave the throne and their daughter and you take over."He said as he walked down towards the end of hall."I won't bother you with servants."He said quietly, almost inaudible. He had been hit and beaten when he first began to serve this family. He learned fast but not as fast some others. Which is why he remained quiet about rules for the servants. They were nothing."Here's your room Your Majesty.'He said as he opened the door and set the bags in his room before stepping back to the door."Is there anything else you would like me to do My Lord?"He asked quietly.

Emmett muttered a quiet thank you to the servant. Inspecting the room for a moment, the young prince then turned back to look at the servant. Once appearing strong, the servant looked as though he had shrunk back into himself. Emmett frowned and rubbed his chin thoughtly. He took a step closer and put his hand gently on the servants shoulder, while still remaining a respectful distance away. Emmett was a few inches taller than the servant and had to look slightly down to talk to him. "Thank you for what you've done for me today, but I have one or two more things to ask of you. He guided the servant out of the room and back down through the hallway. "First.... May I have your name? And secondly..." The prince rubbed the back of his head and smiled sheepishly. "Could you direct me to the throne room?" He asked. Under his breathe he added: "As much as I want to avoid Princess Ariana...."

(Its past midnight here so I think that'll be my last post for the night. I have some stuff tomorrow but I'll make an effort to post as much as possible)

As Emmett placed his hand on his shoulder he tensed slightly but did not flinch or pull away. He learned to be unreactive to most touches. He was surprised as the Prince asked of his name."It's Rick, but you can call me whatever pleases you. The royals rarely use my name unless I am in big trouble."He said the last bit under his breath. Then, nodded slowly."Of course, My Lord, this way."He said before walking to the end of the hall and turning left. On the wall were portraits of the past generations of rulers. There was an empty spot on the wall for Emmett and Ariana's picture.

"Thank you, Rick, if I may call you that?" Emmett stared for a bit at the empty space where his portrait will hang. A sense of dread creeped up his throat. He clenched his fists at his sides. 'For my country,' he thought. He continued down the hallway, Rick pointing out the way for him.

Finally they found themselves in front of an orate door. They only waited for a moment before an old man opened the door for the pair. "Your Highness," he bowed. "The King and Queen will see you now."

"Sir," Emmett tilted his head back at the man and walked through the door. He did not know if Rick would be able to follow him in, and Emmett knew he couldn't risk a glance back in front of the Lords. Emmett looked up at the royal family. The king, gruff and aloof. The queen, thin with her noise held high. And in a smaller thtone off to the side was Princess Ariana. Emmett could not deny that she was beautiful, but their was an element to her face that suggested cruelty. Emmett put up the facde he used to deal with royals. He bowed deeply to the ground. "It is a pleasure to meet you all."

(Okay, good night!)

Rick nodded."Whatever you wish to call me."He said glancing back.

Once they reached the throne room, Rick stopped and bowed, putting his hands behind his back and looking at his feet. He never entered the throne room unless he was asked. Especially around the Princess. He always seemed to make at least one mistake in front of the Princess and was often reprimanded, sometimes it was physical but mostly it was just very demeaning words. He couldn't help but watch Emmett. He actually liked the Prince but knew it was forbidden. Especially because they were both males. While Emmett was here, Rick would be caring to his needs. The Princess did not want him to fall for any of her female servants.

((Night! :) ))

"Stand up boy," the King's gruff voice called out to Emmett. "I'm sure you know why you're here...?"

Emmett nodded. "Yes, Your Highness. In exchange for stopping the raids on ny nation, my parents offered my hand in marriage to your daughter," he said, a bit jaded. Princess Ariana's kingdom had been holding boarder raid's on Emmett's smaller, mountainous nation. This marriage might be the only way to force the raids to stop.

The king gestured to his daughter. Princess Ariana was wearing a light blue dress that elegantly draped off her figure. Her long, blond curls were tight up in a bun around her face. A few ringlets framed her harsh face. Emmett stepped forward to the Princess and bowed slightly, introducing himself. Princess Ariana stuck out her hand to him. Emmett bent down and kissed it. It was cold. "Its a pleasure to meet you," he said firmly. "I hope we can get along."

The Princess just tossed a strand of hair back. "Of course we will!" she announced. Princess Arinana grabbed his hand and led him to what Emmett believed to be the dining room. It was certainty more grand than Emmett's mountain home. They sat down at an elegant dining table. Emmett's stomach reminded him it was lunch time. He blushed faintly. "Here we will have our first meal together," said the Princess. The way she said things made them seem like they were absolute truth and nothing could change them.

Emmett only nodded. "Yes." Servants began to bring in plates of fish Emmett recognized as being native to Princess Ariana's tropical nation. Emmett never liked fish, but.... He started down at an unseeing fish eye. "Thank you," he sais as he began to tear away the fish meat. In this strange country with its strange food, Emmett was longing for an anchor. 'Maybe Rick,' he thought. Yes, Emmett was taking a liking to the younger teen. Emmett hoped that he and the servant boy could become friends, because it looks like he wasn't going to get any closer to the Princess.

Rick watched as they left to the dining room. His stomach reminded him that he was hungry and it was lunch time, but he couldn't eat. He knew that. At least not what the royals would eat. He would at times scrounge in the kitchen to find thr scraps from a meal when the food he was getting wasn't enough. He got caught doing this too many times so he started to stop. Sighing he turned to finish cleaning. He stuck close enough to the dining room to hear if he was called for. He was Emmett's personal servant after all.

((Thank you for roleplaying with me, I am really enjoying this :) ))

((You there? xD I'm sorry, I'm just really anxious to continue roleplaying you))

((Yeah, me too! And sorry, today is just a really busy day for me. (Band practice and musical!))

The Prince and Princess finished their meal in silence. Emmett didn't say anything because the Princess was staring at him the entire time. Adeline didn't say much because she was too busy staring at Emmett. Finally Emmett cleared the last fish on his plate. He stood up abruptly and excused himself. "Thank you for the meal, Princess, but I'm quite tired from traveling all day and I think I'll excuse myself to my quarters." He bowed towards her in a jerky manner and left the room, only pausing at the doorway to call over his shoulder, "I'll see you tomorrow!"

After exiting the room Emmett immediately slumped against the wall and found himself right next to a surprised Rick. Emmett glanced over to the slightly familiar boy. "Finally," he sighed. "A friendly face." Emmett put his head in his hands and took a few deep breaths. "Well that was stupid of me," he mumbled.

(I have musical coming up in an hour but Ill rp as much as I can! Will be able to roleplay much more tomorrow)

Rick jumped slightly as Emmett appeared. He had been cleaning an expensive vase. As Emmett spoke though he continued to clean but listened as well."That is the way of the Princess."He mumbled softly."You shouldn't be saying that Your Highness, you are not stupid."He said softly as he finished cleaning, looking up at him."I've been assigned to be your persona servant."He said as he looked at him.

((Good luck with your musical! :) ))

((Might be a little slow responding for a bit this morning))

Emmett rubbed his neck and looked at Rick. "As royalty, I have to carry a certain manner. Very proper, very fake. I said some improper things back then. Things I should not have said." Emmett turned to face the dining roon door. "And I must deal. I must marry her." Emmett shook his head at himself. "Sorry," he apologized to the servant. "I'm sure you have better things to do than listening to me complain."

Rick shook his head softly."I don't mind. Besides, it's my job."He said with a slight shrug."If you need anything, let me know. The Princess has assigned me to be your personal servant."When he mentioned the Princess, he had become a bit bitter. A tinge of pink rose to his cheeks as his stomach grumbled from hunger, easily heard.

Emmett noticed Rick stomach growl and frowned. "Don't they let you eat here?" he asked. He said it in a slightly joking manner, but as the words escaped his mouth, he realized they might be true. "If you have some free time, would you like to accompany to my room? I have some treats native to my homeland, if you'd like to try them." Emmett figured that the servant would politely decline so he added, "Please, think of it as a service to me. I'd like to get to know you better. You seem much nicer than the Princess for sure. "

"When they give us our food every night and every morning."He said softly. He went to shake his head but instead let out a soft sigh."If that is what you wish Your Majesty."He said softly as he looked at him."That would be because I'm not that way."He said as he looked at him."Whatever you wish me to do, I will do."He said lightly as he looked at him.

"Alright," began the Prince. "I've only been here for a few short hours and I'm already tired of the gloom of this place." Emmett straightened his back. "Rick, I order you as my personal servant to come to my room and have snacks with me," he said in a faux posh voice. He led Rick down the hallway, fidgeting slightly again at the missing painting. Emmett did not want to be on that wall. They reached the room and Emmett opened the door. The Prince opened one of his plain bags and dug around, searching for what he was looking for. Finding what he was searching for, Emmett tossed a small, ornate bag at Rick. Inside were some hard maple syrup candies. "May this last you till dinner time. It's a candy made from the syrup of trees in my country."

"I know of a great place to relax and escape from the gloom, it's where I go quite often. "He said as he followed after the Prince, stopping just inside the doorway he caught the candies and quietly, carefully opened the bag. He slowly took out a hard maple Candy and unwrapped it, putting it in his mouth quietly. The flavor danced along his taste buds with joy.

"And where would that be?" ask Emmett. "Lord knows I need a place like that." He casually leaned against his bed frame and watched Rick eat the candies. "Do you like them?" he asked hopefully. For a reason he did not know, Emmett really hoped that Rick liked the candies.

"It's in the gardens. There are beautiful cherry blossom trees all over the gardens. I go there often as its the only place to escape the Princess."He said softly as he looked up at him."It's quiet and the royal family doesn't often go to the gardens."He said softly as he looked up at him, but didn't move closer into the room.

"Ah, that sounds wonderful," Emmett said, picturing the scene in his mind. He tilted his head to the side, wondering why Rick wouldn't venture into the room. The servents at his castle where allowed to tread where ever. Emmett assumed the in this castle servents had to be called to get into the room. He stood up and walked out of the room, brushing past Rick, their arms touching for a second. "Would you mind taking me there?" Emmett tapped his chin, thinking. "Also...." he added on a side note. "I hereby allow you, on my honor as the first Prince of Aluran, to enter my room whenever needed, if that's the reason you do not want to venture in there."

"Of course. I know this castle better then most of the royals."He said as he looked at him. He nodded as he began walking."If you call for me while you are in your room I will enter. Otherwise, I prefer not to as the Princess might not be too happy with me."He said lightly as he handed the bag of candies back to Emmett.

((Going to get Ice cream so may be a bit slow in responding))

"Well, I wouldn't want the Princess to get mad at you!" Emmett looked around the hall to see if there was anyone around. There wasn't. So he bent down until he was at ear level with Rick and whispered, "Would you mind telling what my future in laws are really like? There are many rumors circulating around that they routinely behead people for silly things, like stepping on a flower bed or leaving a tiny smudge on a window. Please tell me they aren't as severe as that."
