Introduction​

Hello, everyone! As you can probably tell, my username is WhisperingPines; feel free to call me that (or a shortened version, if you prefer). I am new to this website, but I really wanted to get back into RPing again, so I'm just gonna jump in and make this thread. I think I'll use it as a sort of permanent search thread. Currently, I'm searching for a partner who doesn't mind doing 1x1 RPs. I'm pretty terrible at group RPs, especially if they're in thread, paragraph form. I can never keep up with them and there's usually just too much going on for my liking. I prefer roleplays that are bit calmer and closer knit; I like working closely with my partner to tell a story. I figure I should talk about myself, what kind of partner I'm looking for, and some of the genres and fandoms I like, as well as some ideas I may have.

About Me​

I am 22 years old and I live in Ohio, USA (Eastern Standard Time zone). I graduated college this past April and I currently work full time (with odd hours). I have a couple hours each day that I can dedicate to an RP, so my replies should be once daily, possibly more. I tend to post medium to longer replies, but I believe it all depends on what's happening in the role play as well as the time constraints outside of it. I do like to see at least a couple paragraphs, but I value quality over quantity. If the plot keeps moving, I'm happy. I can code a little bit, so I will throw graphics and fancy things into the RP from time to time. World building is probably one of my favorite parts of an RP. Even in established universes, there are usually places with blank slates just waiting to be filled.

What I'm Looking For​

Honestly, I would really appreciate a partner who is chill and friendly. If RPing is all business to you, then I don't think we would be a good match. OOC chats are important to me as the RP itself. Friendly interaction outside of the RP makes it a more enjoyable and rewarding experience all around, or in my opinion at least. I am not expecting perfection out of a partner; after all, I'm not perfect, so why should I expect it out of someone else? If you make a few mistakes in your post (as I'm sure I'll do), it will most likely be unnoticed/ignored. I will usually only call attention to mistakes if I can't decipher it. Also, I would like to RP with someone who enjoys world building and creating the RP together. I feel that we both will be less likely to drop out or lose interest if we both put in the effort to create what's needed for the RP.

Style​

When I RP, I prefer paragraph style, usually in third person, using past tense. I used to do script style a lot, but that was mostly in real time RPs with several people and several characters. I like the way a paragraph style RP comes out looking like a book. Gore and violence is okay in moderation. Smut/Romance scenes have to be fade to black.

Note: I will never play Canon characters. I'm not comfortable with pairings other than FxM and with age gaps, both characters must be adults.

Genres, Ideas, Plots​

At the moment, I don't have a particular fleshed out idea to work with, just "plot bunnies" floating around. I can tell you about the genres I like, among other things. Firstly, Action and Adventure will always hold a special place in my heart. Fantasy and SciFi are always good options. Slice of Life and Romance RPs I usually avoid; not that I don't like them, I just get bored if they're the main reason for the RP. I love, love, love character interaction and dynamics. Family and friend-centric stories are my favorite and would love to RP something with that in mind.

I don't mind role playing within a fandom, but I'd rather stick to OCs within the universe. So, rather than play as the Marauders/The Golden Trio in a Harry Potter RP, why not explore the lives of characters that aren't canon? What about their adventures at Hogwarts? What sort of trouble do they get into?

In the tabs below, I'll briefly state some of the ideas I have. These may not be fleshed out very much, or they could be full on ideas. We'll see as we go along. Currently I am craving the Animal Crossing idea the most.

  Mayor Tortimer is retiring.
  
  After many, many years service, Mayor Tortimer decided it was his time to give the key to (town name) to someone else. When that someone turns out to be less than desirable, Isabelle – the mayor's assistant and secretary – comes up with a way to make things work for (town name). Having heard that the town is expecting a new resident, Isabelle tells the citizens that the new mayor is getting off the train in a few days time.
  
  When (name) steps off the train, they are surprised to receive such a warm welcome. However, they get confused when Isabelle starts calling them the new mayor. Hoping to clear things up quickly, Isabelle drags them to the town hall and an hour later, they officially become the new mayor. How will the residents of (town name) handle life under someone different?

  This little introduction needs some more detail put into it, but I'm hoping to find someone who will help me. The basic plot will follow the start of New Leaf, however, the RP will not follow the mayor. Instead, it will follow original character villagers of the town! We know what being the mayor is like, so I'd love to jump in and get to explore the life in the town through the villager perspective. I think it will be more slice-of-life style, but it could become more if we decide to really expand and world build in the Animal Crossing universe. I'm thinking we would each play 2-4 villagers and the Main Street shop owners, as well as Isabelle, the mayor, Reese and Cyrus, etc. will be NPCs that we each control as needed. This would be a very easy going RP that could be quite fun.

  A Pokemon ranch is being targeted by an evil organization (like Team Rocket, but an original one). The ranch specializes in breeding starters, but takes in all kinds of Pokemon and adopts many of them out. The ranch keeps in contact with various region professors, including the local one (or perhaps the local one works on the Ranch). The region this ranch is on would be a new/made up one that incorporates Pokemon from all 7 generations. I like the idea of this RP being from the point of view of the Pokemon, rather than the humans.
  
  It'll be super hard to convince me of this one, since I have a rather large one in the works concerning this one.

  Another Pokemon one, sorry. One day, all of the humans just disappear and the Pokemon are left behind. Many of the Pokemon owned by trainers are devastated. A lot of the wild ones love the lack of humans. There is an imbalance with the lack of humans, though. The world can't seem to keep up with the growing number of Pokemon and fights/battles are becoming more frequent. Pokemon are becoming too feral; violence and death is suddenly too real. Pokemon begin to gather at one of Mew's favorite hangouts (a temple, a giant tree) and when he returns, the other Pokemon ask what he knows and what can be done. Mew tells them they need to summon Arceus. To do that, they need to gather all of the type Plates and place them at Arceus' altar to summon him. Only he can calm the feral Pokemon and help figure out what happened to the humans. Or something. Needs a bit more work.
  
  This one will be hard to convince me too. This, I think, would be a very long, very serious roleplay. I'd like to finish other roleplays before I toy with this idea.

  This one is a bit more fantasy. It can take place in medieval times or in modern, it doesn't matter. I got the idea from RWBY. In this show, some of the antagonists are called Grimm. These are destructive creatures with no soul; they are drawn to negativity, despair, loneliness. In my idea, an evil wizard has created a potion/spell that turns people and animal into empty shells - their only duty is to kill and cause destruction. Their power comes from fear and despair. They can be killed. There's so many different ways this can be taken. If you like the overall idea, I can tell you about some of the "sub-ideas" that come from this.
  
  This idea is already in the works. I think my craving may be satisfied with this one already.

  Abandoned or lost animals must make their way home or find a new home; animals are re-incarnated and most protect their new owners in each new life, while learning new things and more about what they were meant to do. Homeward Bound inspired with influences from A Dog's Purpose. I have a few ideas for animal-centric RPs like this. Not quite as fleshed out.
  
  This one should be easy to convince me.

  Apocalypse. Be it Zombies, Weather, Dystopian... I have two character types I really want to play with in this kind of plot. If this draws your interest please let me know.
