She studies, her eyes clearly focused on one goal: getting an education and getting the hell out of there. She's an orphan, given up to St. Agnes' Orphanage when she was younger, and unless she wanted to stick around and become a nun herself, she needs a scholarship. Because she moved around from foster home to foster home when she was younger, Serena's quite selective about her friends, only letting a few within her close circle. She has her eyes on an Ivy League, and someone will have to pry her admission out of her cold, dead hands. She's the topper of the school, valedictorian three years in the running.

Relationship with Olivia: Their friendship began tentatively, with Olivia asking Serena to help her out on a math problem. To Serena, it sounded as though the girl genuinely wanted help, and that's why she softened. Originally, Serena had been wary about the girl, but as the months passed, it seemed as though Olivia was truly being friendly. Serena would help Olivia with whatever work she had, and when the tutoring sessions were filled with jokes and secrets, it was clear that they were growing closer. Thus came the SAT day, and Serena quietly noted that Olivia pulled strings to make sure that she sat next to Serena. A though occurred--and she had a sneaking suspicion that Olivia was using Serena to cheat. With a quiet note to the proctor, Serena shifted seats to a different location to take her test in peace. Her suspicion was confirmed when Olivia ceased being friendly after that stunt she pulled. Serena was stung, she was slightly hurt that she had been used in such a manner--but she had better things to focus on. A month had passed before another altercation. When sitting for an AP exam, Olivia's placement happened to be right next to her. It was random, so there was no way that she could request a seat change. At the end of the six hour test, just as Serena stepped away to grab her things, she came back to her test completely soaked in water. The entire test had to be invalidated, and a make-up test had to be scheduled. But Serena would never forget the smug face of her desk partner, whose area was immaculate and relieved of water. To this day, she's bitter that she wasted her time "saving" this girl's grade for nothing in return.

Thoughts: Oh, the cheater? She probably pissed off the wrong person, and it came back to bite her in the ass. Can I please get back to work? I have better things to do than talk about someone who was the bane of this school.

Born in Tokyo, Japan, Yukitake grew up happily. He was an only child, but he had many friends, his bubbly and energetic nature making him quite popular. His parents were constantly traveling for business, leaving him at home and sending him cards here and there. There were times when he wished he could've gone with them, but a young boy his age wasn't welcome on such formal trips. Still, seeing the postcards from around the world inspired Yukitake to dream of a future in another country.

When he was in his junior year, he decided to take a year abroad. It was an impulsive decision, as he didn't even know a wink of English beyond simple phrases. It was tough, incredibly so, but his cheerful outlook on the situation never wavered. His first few relationships were awkward, the language barrier causing a ton of misunderstandings and inevitable complications. As the year went on, and his understanding of the language increased, he began to correct his mistakes and fix his slip-ups, soon becoming integrated into the community there.

When his months were up and it was time to go back to Japan, Yukitake was devastated. Even though an acquaintance of his had died, he wanted to go back. He just felt so alone in his family's big, empty house. A desire to see his friends again swelled up in him and he signed up for another year abroad, his studies there in Japan be damned. None of this was taking into consideration his future, which he didn't mind since he likes to focus on the here and now as opposed to the bigger picture.
