Would France be the father or something? Wouldn't UK be like an adoptive parent since they just came and took over lands with people on them already?

France is most definitely the father of canada who then took off and left leaving canada to be adopted by great britain. Also there was a time in which there was a custody dispute between spain, great Britain, and the netherlands for america. Also, Australia is a child that was sired by GB but Australia is a rebellious teenager.

Ireland was the Mama's boy who eventually grew up and left to be a relatively well adjusted adult but part of ireland misses irelands mother a lot.

Why am I building personalities of countries?

I guess its fun to do. I wouldn't say Australia is rebellious since Australia stayed loyal to UK. I'd say they're more of a kid who was sent abroad. What do u think of Germany?

That kid who was a real bully in the past (which is a nice way of putting it) but grew up and regrets everything he did and is constantly appologizing.

Also, Canada is a rather polite person who is friends with America despite the cintrast between their personalities.

North Korea is a recluse who hate's his brother, South Korea, and just stays in his house all day, only going out to buy groceries.

I don't even think he leaves the basement. China has to buy the food for him.

China is the guy who thinks he has his s*** together but every couple of years he loses it again. He finally has a stable job though but even that's a bit wobbly.
