but we're both feeling unsure of the topic and are kind of using it as a last resort kind of thing. I just can't think of anything that anybody else isn't already doing. >.>

Destruction of nature?

I'd be unsure too about trying the gender issues thing. I mean, pointing out a problem is easy and all, but most discussions on the matter are so one-sided that I don't see any solution working. Then again, if you pushed the common narrative, I'm sure there are points for that too.
Then again, I don't really know what the speech is for... So I can't offer you a suggestion

2 biological genders yes, but gender identities? Which has been something that has been recognized for centuries, is something else

And here is exactly why I would be doubtful of using that topic and I imagine also why dandy dandy is doubtful of it: Bring it up once and two very volatile sides pop up

I do agree with Idea though, maybe the gender thing isn't something to talk about, if it wasn't resolved two thousand years ago then it ain't gonna get resolved now. As o said, destruction of nature would be good, or even coral bleaching due to accelerated natural global warming

I was talking about gender identities. It is a major problem in today's society and needs to be discussed, but I was afraid of seeming bias or uneducated.

We have decided on a new topic, though: technology and internet addiction.

Internet addiction? Forgot that was a thing

The thing with the speech is, it has to be relevant to the audience somehow anyway. Gender identity wouldn't, by my assumptions, relate to most of them because they relate to female/male- biological genders. That's also why coral bleaching wouldn't work either. Nobody relates to coral. It simply isn't important enough for most people.

I feel like technology addiction is a relative topic.
