if we're going to consider negative press generated around police officers, we should also consider negative media bias against poc, but the difference here is that in a majority of these cases, they are not armed and don't provide nearly a big enough threat to warrant the kind of force that results in death.

a number of these cases have autopsies that determine that the bullet entered the body from the back, and i don't think anything justifies shooting someone from the back. but y'all can believe what you want.

Does that make a difference at all? Even if it is our only source, it's still important to keep in mind that they're not telling the full story. Do you believe them anyway?

of course i took part in the lame status update debate, never said there was anything wrong with it. but anyway, ultimately these problems are practically unsolvable, so idk what you think could be accomplished by justice system reform.

Why don't *you* be a cop for a week in a violent area? No cop is trigger happy. The lives of policemen are threatened too. When they get calls, they don't know what to expect. Cops get scared too. Just like what Daisie said, they're human.

Again, there is inherent evil in the world, that will never go away. I know the world needs fixing, but there's nothing you can actually do about it. Things like this should be expected by now because guess what? The world's messed up. It has been for a long, long time. It shows no signs of stopping.

Also.... what's POC?

POC = person of color

That seems confusing, to sat the least.

but it sure is a little interesting that everyone is so quick to defend the police & only selectively recognize what they see as damaging generalizations in a majority w objective privilege rather than in minorities w histories of being systematically oppressed. especially in situations where they're clearly not the ones being killed, but that's just my opinion, i guess ://

And I know people say 'don't judge a book by its' cover'. But that is literally impossible considering it's hardwired into our brains. Racism is going to always happen, discrimination is going to always happen because we're built to judge people by how they look, mannerisms, and ways of speech, for our own safety.

But, hey, we're only human.

ambrosials ambrosials Don't even start this bullshit with me. I'm a person of color. I've had cops called on me (And for violence. I'm not proud of it). I've been in handcuffs before. Don't fucking pull this minority shit on me. The cops who arrested me were white men. And look at me, I'm not fucking shot in the face!

cops get scared too, yeah, but when they're in a position like theirs, there better be a way more valid reason than fear for ending someone's life. especially considering that cops have to undergo training in order to be a cop. and it's so fatalistic to say 'things suck, they'll always suck' bc how tf are we supposed to better ourselves as a society?

Partaking in a special training regime doesn't remove human emotions and instinct. It provides you the knowledge on what to do in a situation, but emotion can always get the better of someone.
Devious Dilbert

qwerty; qwerty; You're objectively stupid if you took it that way. The point is that cops fuck up. They do. And people dying is bad. We all fucking know that it's bad. But cops aren't trigger happy. And if you honestly believe all that the media tells you without researching for yourself, you're sheep.

And also what Axel said about training and emotion. Finally something intelligent.

police officers do not always act 100% rationally. there are definitely some instances where you could say "yeah, maybe lethal force wasn't necessary." but it's usually in that window where lethal force WAS a (technically) legit option, even if it wasn't the BEST option. you'd just need to train them better, but that costs money and shit. EDIT: and might not work anyway
