It all depends on the go, in my experience I've seen the Devils advocates, at first it starts off fine but gets heated and soon that person is kicked out of the rp

Then you shouldn't GM if you are hard headed, not even the people in the roleplay would want an impossible GM. Why even roleplay with a GM that does that? Why would you even attempt to join one with a ban-happy GM?
CupAndCough
CupAndCough
You just made an excuse on behalf of ALL GMs who rather continue to destroy an idea when criticism would have been nice to follow and perhaps at least listen to. Distilling down to what you just said is: "Well if they are a BAD GM then it won't work"--THEN DONT ROLEPLAY WITH THEM

I would love a bit of MATURITY AND GRACE, wouldn't you? If you are stuck within those roleplays, gain some self-confidence and leave, jesus christ.
The Mechanist
The Mechanist
Cuz they had an awesome plot that no other gm has come up with and people are willing to sacrifice a few freedoms just to be able to partake in such an interesting and unique idea because people are tired of the same old rp ideas that are constantly being used over and over by many gms

THEN MAKE SOMETHING.
The Mechanist
The Mechanist
But you see, you mistake me for someone who has a problem with the gms, I don't have a problem with them, I follow the rules and do what is necessary. Others like you may have the problem, but I personally do not, I've always been a firm believer in "gms role play, gms rules."
The Mechanist
The Mechanist
I do make something, I make one on ones, where both me and my partner can collaborate for an rp
CupAndCough
CupAndCough
Then whats the argument you are trying to make here? Cause I sum it up to "Oh I am willing to deal with a story that will turn to shit cause the GM won't listen to us, but I deal with it cause people won't make stuff"
CupAndCough
CupAndCough
Stop blaming everything else on everyone not doing something, an interesting roleplay is a group effort and not a GMs immature whims and the worst of their natures--If you settle for that then you are a problem. Depending on what you roleplay you NEED this without a doubt.
The Mechanist
The Mechanist
Yeah that pretty much sums it up. Either deal with the bullshit or get out, no ones making you stay
CupAndCough
CupAndCough
YOU CRITICISE THE SETTING BECAUSE YOU CARE ABOUT THE STORY NOT BECAUSE YOU DISLIKE IT.
CupAndCough
CupAndCough
Cause a roleplay is valuable to those who HOST it and those who PARTICIPATE in it. Cause you VALUE the story, but if you find a DISCREPANCY you should mention it. Everyone who roleplays in that story should care for it because we PUT TIME IN WRITING. We put time in HELPING CREATE STORIES
The Mechanist
The Mechanist
And just like in the real world you'll have your time wasted. Just like in the real world no one will listen to what you have to say. So it's best to just shut up, and deal with the bullshit, because you can't always get what you want. You can be a Devils advocate for the better gms,me? I just wanna roleplay regardless if it lasts or not, got 15 other ones going on anyways
CupAndCough
CupAndCough
The real world doesn't always work like that though? I mean unless you have a really shitty lot in life, it feels like this is an argument a battered spouse will create. You wanted to leave a comment on my status refuting my point, I still see it as valid as you only left with "Well he hits me, but he is like the only other husband/wife around.". And then you flip to WELL ITS NOT LIKE I HAVE THAT PROBLEM LOL
CupAndCough
CupAndCough
I want to create a story, I want to feel fulfilled with writing, I care for those who write and who will create their own stories--If congratulating is deserving, then I will. If a person needs to say "I don't see why this is the way it is..." I will listen. If there is need for me to do the same? I will do it--Because that's how you make something other than shitty roleplays.
The Mechanist
The Mechanist
Then make your own roleplay. I've seen some roleplays with hard headed gms that last for more than a year as well, roleplays that have no room for criticism or critique completely outlast the role plays that do. And then I've seen a few roleplays that fall apart because someone asks too many questions, or gibectoo much critique and criticism. As I said I just roleplay for the sake of roleplaying
Devious Dilbert
Devious Dilbert
I agree with this completely.
CupAndCough

Thats. Not. The. Issue. It is creating within in a group effort for a story a GM purposed as it will be multiperson hobby, Therein lies the issue of housing not just a good story which SHOULD BE subject to being criticised, but how pacing, rules, and for some tabletop gaming should be play and how it would better interact with a story.
CupAndCough
CupAndCough
You may not personally care, but it seems to be a consensus so far that this is valued by a lot of players. If anything you are MY devil's advocate to this idea and perhaps integral part of a long lasting and fulfilling roleplay than anything else.
