well, I for one just don't support democracy in general.

I'm curious to hear what your preferred alternative would be.

Aristocracy, to use a broad term. More specifically one based on education and a select parliament based on votes from the elite by that criteria.

What do you think will come out of that? That is to say, is your idea for an aristocracy meant to benefit the people or just to keep the people in line?

An aristocracy of this kind would, of course, not be immune to corruption either. Nevertheless, it would make the government competent. In any other system if a government is competent it will be by mere chance. I'm not saying good or respectful, no, I'm saying competent. The point of a government is to preserve the rights of the people while keeping the country running.  A competent government may be a bunch of scumbags, but they will know better than to screw their own country for their personal benefit and better than to disrespect rights. It also eliminates the need for the focus on how to earn votes and allows oneself to focus on learning things that will be useful for future political decisions, something sorely lacking in many systems throughout history. 


 It would eliminate the problem of short-sight that is inherent to democracy. Most of the people are completely ignorant about the matters at hand, an easily swayed by emotion, superficiality ,they may have no way of verifying lies or researching everyone : and why should they need to? They are hardworking citizens , they have more to do with their lives. But then, if they aren't gonna make an informed and thought out decision , considering the ends for the country rather than themselves, is there really a point in letting everyone vote?
