We're just trying to do the best we can right now - there's very few of us and we're abhorrently busy. Gotta remember this isn't a job - we work for free - and do this on top of all our life things.

You're right. Hours of site work, followed by another thirteen hours of physically hard work at a hospital do not make for a good Admin right now...

When did I say about reverting to the old site? It would have been nice if the product was released functioning than the older vision. So far BBcode is broken (I know you are working on this, as said in the "Dissapointed" thread.) You can only like replies now, instead of having a range of feed back for the creators. Not sure if you plan to add that back or anything but currently I think its strange/stupid that this feature was removed. It also doesn't help having moderators and administrators replying in rude ways such as "Too Bad, really." and "I suppose you'd prefer that?" and as well as that, Meredith said "The first thing I'm going to say: the update is not done yet." If the update is not done yet why was it released? Couldn't you have waited till it finished?

Also if you are stressed out over work of doing physical labour all day, maybe not come on as a administrator, you came on and lashed out.

You can say " We're just trying to do the best we can right now " but telling the people that keep your site alive "Too bad, really" to a few things. Thats not a good way to go around the problem at hand. The reason someone like me has gone around this not in the nicest of manners is because the thread "Dissapointed" started with criticism, but mods were calling it all salt. Thats not a respectable way to handle this situation. I can understand that you are volunteers and stuff, but you still run the site and being a volunteer does not change the fact that you need to go about this in a professional way.

I can handle the update, I'm sure everything will be fixed but as said on twitter "Extremely ahead of our to do list. The site will be back as soon as we finish activating all the new features. Initial process done." Then one of the mods said "the update is not done yet." But again, I'm sure that it will be done and great, but currently, I don't see why its the way it is in a few places but the main problem is the way the moderators are handling the backlash of this. Most of this can be seen in the thread "Dissapointed".

Okay, so let me get this straight. You would rather have waited a week or longer for us to fully update and upgrade the site, is that correct?
metalcity
metalcity
Yes, I don't see why it wasn't like that to start of with. We were expecting it to take a week or longer anyway. Pretty sure I said that but doesn't matter. Referring to the joke I started with "RPN: brought to you by EA " their games would be good, but they keep releasing games before they are supposed to be released. This could have all been handled better if it was fully updated and upgraded to start with. It even said on twitter that it was done before expected. Doesn't seem like that now...

But then we have to deal with a vocal minority who would scream and cry because we too 'sooooooo loooooooonnnnngg' to do a simple site update. Long story short, we don't seem capable of pleasing anyone, so I'm left wondering if we should bother pleasing anyone at all.
metalcity
metalcity
Would you? Would you really? I highly doubt people would have minded if it came out as a full product. But I made a poll to see if people would complain if it took longer. Also you basically just admitted that the site isn't done yet. You really should have waited from any stand point you look at it.
Captain Hesperus
Captain Hesperus
Yeah, people would. History bears us out. We introduced changes to the site and people lost their minds. They claimed the Staff ruined the site. They claimed that the site got worse and would never get any better. But then, stuff got fully updated and suddenly they were deliriously happy. Then we updated something and the same cycle started all over. With the same people waving the torches and pitchforks.

That literally does not answer anything.  You should have not released a unfinished site. If you thing it is acceptable to do so you are actually stupid. And obviously you didn't bring that up and played the victim. I feel so sorry that you own a site and must run it, especially one that you volunteered to do so. What a struggle. If you find it hard to do, maybe not do it... woah, that's an idea!
Captain Hesperus
Captain Hesperus
Okay. Yes, I'm stupid. Thank you for your input.

Captain doesn't own a site, @The Dark Wizard does. Additionally, if the admin team didn't run the site, it'd be shut down. If you're so upset about it being incomplete, maybe just log out until the update is done?
metalcity
metalcity
I know he runs it, just saying generally that it should not have been released in a unfinished state. Also not really upset, just laughable how poorly you are handling the situation. "Maybe log out until the update is done" maybe the website should have been released fully rather than missing features. Ever think about that?  Also Meredith, when I said about not doing the job, I meant you and hesperus. One works 13 hours a day and then complains that he has to deal with people after that, even saying he was unfit to be an admin and the other is rude towards criticism. No problem with the rest of the admins/mods. From what I've seen they have been handling this well.
Meredith

If you're upset about it not being done, you don't have to be experiencing it. Other users are doing okay with the site even in its unfinished form. I don't appreciate shots at my ability as a moderator, but I digress, you are free to have any opinion on my ability that you wish.

I have stated previously that I encourage criticism, but anger does not help anyone.
metalcity

You stated that then called someones criticism "salt"... I gave my opinion and criticism on the site and the way you and captain handled it.

I too am done with this 'discussion'. My statement, which you claim was my admission that I'm 'unfit to be an Admin' was actually me apologising for having worked on the site til midnight, slept four hours then spent 13 hours caring for sick people only to come back to a torrent of abuse for something that was done in what was hoped to benefit users and reacting poorly to that. If you feel I am 'unfit to be an Admin', I invite you to contact The Dark Wizard directly to determine if he agrees with you and have me demoted. As for me, I'm done here.

Additionally, if you have an issue with any moderator, you can contact admin contact through support.

It's highly indecent of any human being to rail on others for the stress caused by the masses. No human being is perfect and no human being can have been expected to handle this outcome on top of everything else with a smile. And I would know, I'm in the business of faking a smile.

If you are helping to run a site that has a few thousand people on everyday, you must be able to handle a situation like this well, without resorting to being rude. If you can't handle it, you should not be running it, it helping it. If you think is is acceptable, you are delusional.
Transparent

Are you any more right to think your behavior is acceptable? And do you really think everyone's perfect at the job right off? No one can turn their emotions off and everyone has a point that they can handle in regards to stress. I highly doubt you've encountered a high stress situation like this so I don't think you're a very good person to be passing judgment.
