Anime & Manga What did You think about Death Note’s Anime End?

Rogue Kitsune

The One And Only
This probably has been asked many times. But what did you think?
Did Light’s death make you :xFmad:
Or  or inbetween?
And who’s side were you on?
Light’s or L’s?
Just curious

It was a disappointment. The series lost its identity by the end of season 1 and became a parody of itself in season 2.

I don’t really know when season 1 ends and when season 2 begins but I’m guessing season 2 was when N and M came. And I do agree eventually it became a parody

Yea somewhere between the time when light fully went for world domination and L's death, was when I felt the series drop off. The author didn't take that moment to end the series properly and it suffered for it.

Light was my baby!!!!! How could he die?!!!!! </3</3</3</3</3</3</3</3</3</3</3</3</3</3</3</3 And yes I do know that I'm over dramatic.... Deal with it plz.

No, I understand. Im over dramatic about things myself sometimes. In fact when Light died, here was my response: **** YOU NEAR. YOURE GOING IN MY DEATHNOTE.

Bacon is fluffy Bacon is fluffy is right in that after Season 1, the show dropped off considerably. I just wished that the show ended at season 1. The thing that I disliked the most about the ending of the show was Near. I fucking despise Near with passion. He is JUST like L, and the way he talks about L is just bullshit to me. He is not an original character in the slightest and is a piece of shit. Mallow on the other hand was someone that I liked. I really did not like how easily Light was outsmarted by Near. There were tons of ways that he could employ to make sure that he killed Near. He got sloppy and impatient which ruined Light for me as well, due to the fact that his season 2 acts cannot hold a candle to the shit he did in season 1.

A satisfying end. While I was skeptical about the story still going after L's death, Light got the poetic justice he deserved at the very end. I recall being almost just as invested and on the edge of my seat in the second half, feeling like it was a necessary continuation.
Kira's laugh and mental breakdown, though. You can't deny that's not one of the show's best moments.

I wanted Light to win. To see what he would have done after he had the world in the palm of his hands. When I first watched the series, I rooted against him but on my most recent viewing, I couldn't help thinking Light from the first season wouldn't have made the silly mistakes he does in season 2 which get him caught.

I completely agree. The only difference is that I was never against him. I'm told that I can't dislike anyone so I guess that's why.

I honestly fell in love with him once he got the name of that woman who came to talk to his dad. He was like "I am Kira" and as she walked away he was like "My father is available to talk to" just to rub in the salt. Too bad season 2 was such a shitter.

All I know is that the Manga ends a thousand times better and I just can't acknowledge the Anime's end... I can't
It was lame and anticlimactic

In the Manga it was perfect in every single way and very ironic why did they have to change it, whyyyyyyy? >O<

Years later and I'm still disappointed...

I need to read the manga but as far as I'm aware the authors wanted to end it AT the end of part 1, which I guess everyone's already spoiled XD
Ie, when L Dies.
But everyone wanted them to continue it so there we go.

Honestly, I'm happy Light died. He and his God Complex could bring nothing good. 8V9 Light's one of the only characters I truly hated (hate for his person, but I admire him as a character, especially since he can ignite such intense dislike from me), and he got his just-deserts!

The stuff between Light and L was never recaptured. The entire second season would have been a single episode's worth of confrontations in the first season.
However, I will say
Kira supporter
But if Light had won, his eventual plan was bad. He was going to kill all the homeless and anyone he saw as useless, not just criminals, so...
Yay? Didn't live long enough to see himself become a villain?

I don't believe criminals deserve to die so easy. They deserve to be in jail or prison until they have suffered enough (severed their sentence.) I especially believe this for those who commit crimes against children of their own free will because of what happens to them in jail and prison. I also didn't like Light because he put his family in danger, he had a God complex, and was mentally and emotionally manipulative to women. So disrespectful. I know villains (I see him as a villain) aren't exactly supposed to be completely likeable. But my BIGGEST issue with Light, is that he had a good life, and he threw all that away for what? To stop being bored? To become "God of the new world"? You can't have good without evil. One CANNOT exist without the other. This is true in the sense that Light is a criminal for killing all those people (not just criminals). This is one of the reasons I support L. One of the reasons why when I saw the ending... I smiled, and cried in relief because (I have no life so this stuff actually matters to me more than most) L would finally be peaceful...
