Argon gave his son a look of indifference before turning back to Saphira. He nearly laughed at her outburst at what he had said previously.

"Heavens no, I would never give Kuro and the baby princess the throne. If there is a wedding, itd be nothing more than us calming the citizens of Origo. They'd just think we are unified. It'll give me more ways to take the kingdom. My ghost would never pass on if it knew my kingdom was in the hands of the boy." Argon laughed a little bit, and he stared at his general with a look that no one hadn't seen in a while. Argon had been planning to wed the woman of steel for a while now. It would no doubt give him a strong heir, and she was the only person he would ever consider worthy of being his queen. Even if the child they had was a girl they'd be better for the kingdom. Argon didn't actually hate Kuro, but the boy made Argon uncomfortable. He had too many of his mother's traits that Argon could see every day. If Saphira accepted his proposal and they had a strong child, Kuro needed to renounce his claim to the throne for his younger half-sibling. Argon didn't want to kill the boy, but he would get rid of the boy if he acted stubbornly. He'd make sure the boy had enough money to have a comfortable life, but he just needed him out of his sight.

For now, Argon had to live in the present and decide a good time to tell Saphira of his plans.

"We should send a bird with a message to Origo and saddle up for the journey to the castle then. I suppose it'll be dangerous with only us three going in the heart of our enemies, but If i do die, my death will rile my soldiers. Origo will eventually fall, and  I'm fine with that thought even if I don't live to see it."

"Right this way Princess." Iris politely said, bowing slightly as she turned and began walking back towards the council room. After a couple of steps, Sir Reinhold piped up with a little question. Owing for the fact that she had her back turned towards him, she missed his daring glare towards Sir Jackson. A move that she would probably deride him for. If she saw him. After a literal second of thinking, she came up with the perfect solution to a couple of problems.

"That won't be necessary, Reinhold. I have another task for you and Jackson. The trebuchets on the Eastern wall need to be relocated in preparation for the upcoming meeting with the Black King. I want them disassembled and re-erected on the western wall. Oh and deploy a couple at the city square. I'll let you bring along 10 men. That should be enough help for you two." General Iris then turned to face her two knights with a nice, warm smile.

"Oh and one last thing. Get it done an hour before sundown. I know 6 trebuchets may be too much for 12 men but I expect the best from you two.... Or else. ..... That said, I wish you two luck." And with that last, rather ominous warning, Iris continued on leading Princess Rowan towards the Council Room. As they walked, Iris decided to keep her mind off distractions by asking the Princess a rather selfish question. Just a little something to maybe show that she's still human.

"Princess... If you don't mind me asking, do you think I'm a little.... Harsh on the Knights?"

@HuntedFox @Crystal Cali @MuffinRPs

Saphira nodded at the kings thoughts, but she then shook her head at his last sentence. "If they would try to kill you, my king, they would have to go through me. They would all die before they could even attempt a strike." Saphira shook her head again, strongly. "No, my king, they wouldn't dare."

The general did not wait to get a bird from the cage, writing a message. She then rolled it up and put it onto the birds leg, letting the pigeon fly. It was a completely black bird, rare and a only the king and Saphira were using them. Then, the general turned towards the king and nodded towards him. "Your majesty. You and... the boy... should then follow me." With that, she bowed and exited the tent, expecting the others to follow, leading them to the place, where they would enter the city over a ladder.

The pigeon flew to the castle, where a Knight found it, reading the message. His face got pale and he immediately ran, searching for the general. The small piece of paper was written on with black ink. The letters were little artworks and it looked like a masterpiece. But what the letters formed was far from as beautiful.

"His Highness, King Argon, as well as his son and myself are on our way. Expect us at the left wall in exactly 3 hours. Any minute that we have to wait from then on will be seen as personal insult against the king and his land.

Signed, Saphira Blackhand"

The Knight quickly handed the piece of paper to the general. She had to read it as soon as possible.

Admittedly, Reinhold had to say he felt a gush of relief when he heard his superior say, 'That won't be necessary, Reinhold.' They didn't have to watch the princess anymore? Could this possibly mean him and his peer could rest for a bit? This was amazing!

...haha, but alas, any hopes and dreams he had were smashed to smithereens and metaphorically stomped on by his leader, the General. He blinked. A-another task..? No resting..? His tried to keep his demeanor calm but his eyes did betray him. The trebuchets on the... Eastern wall? Weren't there at least six over there?! Only ten men?? Why did she sound like she was being generous? That wasn't generous! It would no doubt take the rest of the current day and a good portion of the next, providing they were permitted to sleep. If that wasn't worse, the General turned and looked at Sir Jackson and himself with a warm smile. ...wait. Why was she smiling at them?? T-that smile... so deceiving... a smile like that should make another person want to smile right back! But when General iris did it, it would make one feel vulnerable, like she was just about to do something unspeakably horrible to you. And you were helpless.

'Oh and one last thing...'

There was more! Of course there was more! She was General Iris! Why couldn't there be more?? 'Get it done and hour before sundown.' Well, Sir William's semi-calm demeanor exploded right then. Not literally, of course. But there was a very dramatic change. His eyes widened, his brow furrowed just slightly and even his mouth opened a bit, like he would say something. But he stopped himself. Usually one tended to hold one's tongue when around the Princess. Or the General, for that matter. Escpecially when that tongue was about to spew a few unclean words. Get it down an hour before sundown?! A hour before sundown?! His disbelief was very evident in his eyes. Six trebuchets, twelve men, Eastern to Western wall, some in the city square... ALL one hour before sundown?! He swore if someone put her in a bad mood he would find them and hang them by their toes. For days. Just when he thought things couldn't get worse the General just happened to decided to add one last little thing. A threat. Who didn't like a nice, typical threat? One that by simply hearing the tone of voice or glancing into the woman's eyes you instantly knew wasn't empty?

Sir William grit his teeth, stiffly forcing himself to straighten up into attention. "Yes, sir." he ground out, trying to sound as polite as he could. Once he watched Her Highness the Princess and General Iris make their way down the hallway to the Council Room, William turned to look at what he called a friend. His Comrad, Sir Jackson. "Jackson, go round up ten of the best men you can find and meet me up on the Eastern wall. And don't allow any distractions. We can't afford to lose any time. I'll go up right away and inform the guards what we will be doing and see if I can find a way of easy transportation to the western wall." As he spoke his voice was strained and he waited just until his peer acknowledged him before quickly heading down the hallway, setting his sights outside and to the Eastern wall.

Sir Jackson smiled back at the general. He had no reason to complain and didn't understand why Sir Reinhold was the way he was. Work was work. They both wanted to be knights so they should have expected both mundane and hard tasks. Sure, they should be training to fight wars and the such, but that doesn't mean they are allowed to. Beau listens to what higher ups say and does as he's told. He's a soldier and used to taking orders. He didn't understand why other soldiers couldn't follow this.

He looked to Sir Reinhold, "Of course." He said, "I'll meet you there with them." Beau walked off, in hopes to find some good soldiers that can be competent in this large and difficult task.

Rowan could not help but to give Iris a bit of a disbelieving look. The expression only lasts for a moment before she composes herself once again, and says "Yes," she says in a gentle, yet blunt tone. "I agree that we should expect the best from them, but they do deserve a bit of compassion as well. Actually, I would argue that a balance of compassion and sternness would be the most effective way to guide them to reach the expectations we have placed upon them."

@Wandering Grim Hollow

"Hm... I expected that sort of answer from you, Milady. Although I feel that I must be harsh due to my background as an outsider. The world outside the walls are far worse then you may think and I feel that the knights here must face this hardship first before they are ready. But I must thank you, Princess, for answering my question." Iris said with a smile, happy that despite her current behavior, the Princess is still her old rebellious self. Unlike Iris herself who completely threw away her past self and lost herself in her nightmarish training and study regimen upon joining the Knights. Just as Iris was beginning to feel better, another major annoyance came. A regular knight who somehow managed to graduate from his time as a squire by dumb luck and loyalty by the way he looks. Iris grumpily took the paper from him and read the contents.

"....... Gather 15, no, 20 men and report to Sir Jackson and Sir Reinhold on the Eastern Wall! I want those trebuchets gone and a large tent set up within 2 hours!" Iris practically screamed at the Knight, the poor man quickly bowing and running for dear life. Iris' expression displayed worry, fear and anger. What the hell was the Black King planning? A test? This is not good. Not good at all. In her frustration, Iris slammed her armoured fist into the closest wall, "DAMMIT!" She panted, feeling the strain of her worries catching up to her, faintly recalling the destruction of her hometown in the back of her mind. To her horror, she just remembered that the Princess was there, a scant few feet behind her.

"Forgive me for that unsightly display, Princess.... I-I just realized how... Nevermind that. We must hasten ourselves to the Council Room. The whole situation has just gotten worse...." Iris flashed a very badly done reassuring smile before starting a light jog towards the Council Room. She slowed down occasionally for the Princess to catch up, no thanks to the skirt but we made it eventually. I didn't bothered knocking.

"MILORD! I have an urgent message from our guests! They demand that the meeting start in 3 hours or else they will see this as a sign of hostility!" Iris reported, keeping her body bowed.

Dave sat up straighter, frowning. Three hours. Three hours to prepare. Not nearly enough time. But, it would have to do.

"Right. You may rise, I've already told you you don't always have to bow." He stood up, walking towards the door to get ready. "Raise walls around the meeting point, I don't want them seeing into the city. Have the royal tent set up for a meeting place and-" he paused as he passed his daughter, smiling before placing a hand on her shoulder. "And have my daughter dressed in something more...comfortable, for her first war meeting."

@Crystal Cali @Wandering Grim Hollow

Rowan briefly opened her mouth to speak up after hearing her father say she should be wearing something more comfortable. She was under the impression that she should be making an effort to make an impression as an elegant princess, but then two thoughts occurred to her: first, everyone in both kingdoms probably already knew that Rowan likes to run around in men's clothing, so why bother? And second, what if this meeting takes an unfriendly turn? Rowan certainly couldn't run in her current attire, yet alone fight if she needed to. The dress, and it's layers were far too constrictive. So, she decided not to question that decision. Rowan does turn to her father and ask, "Is there anything we should discuss in private before the meeting? Perhaps we should make sure we are on the same page as far as what we want out of these negotiations before we head off."

"Yes actually, I would. Follow me." He made his way out the doors or the council room, heading for the front gate to make preparations. He didn't oook over his shoulder as he spook, assuming she was listening. "When I was your age, I could've cared less about the crown. That's the fact of the matter, I didn't care. But, it was also around your age when I took the crown. I was a young impressionable prince who just lost his father and was charged with leading my entire country. You're a lot like me in that way. You'd rather be your own person then live the royal life." He turned around, leaning down to be on eye level with her.

"But, you are royalty. You're my daughter. Which is why I want you with me, by my side, father and daughter. Learn the ropes from your old man. Besides, I'm sure you'd love to get out of those dumb dresses for a day, am I right? I've got a set of armor costume ordered to fit you that should be here soon."

Sir William had quickly made his way straight to the Eastern wall and wasted no time in finding someone to inform. Just as he was done speaking to the guard he turned around to see another guard run up to him, pale faced and breathless, with a good sized group of men behind him. William's eyes narrowed. What was this man doing? "What's wrong?" He voiced his concern and the pale-faced guard did not hesitate in fearfully pouring out the contents of the letter and the General's orders. William even felt some color drain from his own face as his eyes widened in shock. The black King was coming in three hours? What was the meaning of this?? Dishonorable-... they were grasping at reasons to simply just attack the city! How could they let those kinds of people into the blessed city of Origo Aurea? Was the Black Kingdom really looking for peace? Or did they just want to see what they were up against. Well... no more time for thought. They had two hours... no time could be wasted!

His eyes snapped up and he began barking out orders, gesturing to a small group of men. "All but six of you! Go gather sufficient tools to dismantle the trebuchets as quickly as possible! Use baskets if needed! We'll need tools for at least 30 men including yourselves!" He stepped forward as the majority of the men rushed away to better look at the remaining six. "I want you to go gather horse drawn carts to move the dismantled pieces! Waste no time! Go!" He watched the men run away and anxiously and a ran through his hair. "Damn." He muttered. Sir Jackson better get there soon.. he'd need five men working on each trebuchet. Hopefully that was enough... he turned, walking all the way up to the edge and staring down at the black clouds with a hard expression.

What were they doing...?

Beau arrived at the wall quickly with the men he was asked to get. These soldiers were some of the strongest he'd known so they could help easily. "Help the other men," he commanded, "We're on a time constraint." They immediately joined the others and the red headed knight walked over to Sir Reinhold. He had mixed feelings about most knights and William was no exception. These mixed feelings could make or break conversations he had with other people. To be honest, Beau didn't like interacting with people if it wasn't in a formal setting. He just remained quiet for now. They had to get a job done.

Rowan smiles as she looks into her father's eyes. "Well, you know how I feel about these dresses," she says light-heartedly. Then in a more serious tone, she adds "I do not care for the royal lifestyle, but I do care for the people of our country. For them, and for you, I will learn all I can to become a leader this country needs."

@StriderBro

Alister stood outside near the king's tent. His hand tightly gripped on the hilt as he watched all the soldiers. Majority of them avoided him because of his reputaion of disowning anyone who defies him. Alister thought about the kings and the giant fortress that awaited them he knew Alister was ready to fight but he personally wished this war didn't ignite so he can come home to his beloved.... Evalyn. She was the only thing that he had to come back to after everything.  Snapping back to reality he watched a message carrier scurry out of the tent. Though he stood is position and waited.

Sir William placed each hand on top of the small stone wall that lined the edge on the great walls of Origo. In his peripheral vision, he saw his peer, Sir Beau. "I believe you have caught word of our sorely pressed situation?" He asked without taking his eyes off of the darkened clouds. After a few seconds he let out a frustrated sound. "What do you think they are planning...?" This time he turned his head and looked at Sir Beau. He was concerned... but failure was not an option. They would do their part. Whatever they could. Soon it would be up to their very own King.

Beau knew Sir William was curious about what was going on but he didn't care. Sure, what was happening could affect him but it shouldn't bother him. It wasn't his area of debate.

He drew one of his daggers, checking the quality of it and spoke honestly, "It isn't my place to say or even think about what they may be planning. I'm simply following the orders I'm given on a day to day basis and trying to protect this kingdom. I don't want to get involved as I don't know whether I'll like the answer I'm given when I ask the question of what's going on. You should do the same thing. It'll save a headache."

He put his dagger back and put his hand on the hilt of his sword. He didn't like getting involved with something that he could end up disagreeing with ethically.

William didn't know what he actually expected from the indifferent knight. He looked back out to view with a frown. He sighed and straightened himself out. "Unlike you, I do want to know what we're up against. Because when all hell breaks loose, when we are out there fighting, the last thing I want to do is be fighting blind." William turned his whole body towards Sir Beau. "A wise warrior learns about his enemy beforehand. He observes his opponents battle strategies. He strives to truly know his enemy, so that on the battlefield, he can truly obliterate them." William narrowed his eyes slightly. "You want to protect what is left of the White Kingdom? You would do well in remembering this and better educating yourself in the future." He gave a small incline of his head, as the custom before walking away along the wall. He needed to see to the preparations.

Dave smiled warmly, patting his daughters shoulder. "You make me very proud to be your father...go on, get ready, we don't have too much time left. I'll wait for you outside." And with that, he turned from her, heading to the front gates and shouting down the hall. "PREPARE THE ROYAL CARRIAGE."

@Crystal Cali

@(literally anyone who is at the White Castle)

Rowan had a couple of maids help take the armor to her room where she quickly began to change. She threw her dress and the veiled crown haphazardly on the bed before putting the armor on. Once she had the armor all on, Rowan opened a drawer in her dresser and pulled out her throwing knives and sword. The short sword would be easily visible on her belt, but the throwing knives would be attached farther back on her belt and hidden by the white cloak she added to the setup. Once she was dressed, Rowan ran her fingers through her hair, and headed back outside to meet up with her father.

Beau walked so they were face to face, "Well I believe you worry too much. Strategy is important but remember; we are not the General. The General should be in charge of that so I'm sticking to what I'm good at." He turned from him and walked a few paces away, "Following orders." He drew his sword and examined it whilst thinking. The planning whilst being in a war is important but not their priority. They were followers; not leaders. Sure, in the right situation they could be, but right now, in the present, there was no way they were even coming close to that. Beau was sticking to his skills and doing what he was made for; fighting the King's battles for him.
