Introduce Yourself!

Hi there. I met someone through nanowrimo who mentioned that they do play-by-post role playing and I thought that would scratch an itch I have had for a long time. I used to play D&D a long time ago, and I'd like to get back into it. It's been hard to find a group (and time) so I thought this might be the perfect medium. So, in terms of experience, I haven't played in a while but when I did it was mainly in a D&D like setting (D&D, AD&D, palladium). I used to be one of those rule freaks who had memorized every table and every rule -- you know the type But now I'm more interested in role playing and creating a shared narrative experience.

What interests me outside of role playing? I like to create beautiful things. I know that's vague but there are a lot of things I like to do, and the common thread is striving to make something that makes the world just a little bit more beautiful. Primarily I do that through illustration, wood working, writing, math, and code. Yeah, I know: those last two may seem a little out of place

Greetings, I go by Dr Laudanum here, but you can call me just Laudanum, I just had to add that academic title because Laudanum was already taken.

Your experience with roleplay and how long you have been roleplaying.
During the past 5 years, I have been roleplaying on and off, but my experience with creative writing is bigger. Aside from online roleplaying, I am very enthusiastic about TTRPGs, and I usually play them in person, on a weekly basis. Dungeons and Dragons opened me the doors to so many other great TTRPGs, and at the moment I am trying to experiment as many as possible and see which systems and settings I like the most. Some of the ones that I played are Call of Cthulhu, Vampire: The Masquerade, Blades in the Dark, Castle Falkenstein, Cyberpunk Red, The One Ring, Harry Potter D20, etc. My experience as a GM is inexistent though. Perhaps, in the future, I may be able to GM some games.
Aside from the TTRPGs, I am not experienced with group roleplays. Generally, I go in for 1x1s, but I'd like to learn about how group roleplays work and, who knows, even participate in them.

What interests you have within roleplay, such as genre or settings.
Just as in literature, my roleplaying tastes are centred around historical fiction, sci-fi (cyberpunk and biopunk, mostly), dystopia, horror (psychological and Lovecraftian are my favourite subgenres), high fantasy and steampunk. The roleplays I am looking into are most part of the time settled on the past or the future. Worldbuilding is something that I appreciate greatly: coming up with new universes and all the internal and external rules that command such worlds with my roleplaying partners is so satisfying.
I am not very fond of fandom roleplays, but if we roleplay with OCs in a pre-existing setting, then I might consider it. Slice-of-life isn't something I am interested in as well, even though I like to use small slice-of-life scenes in order to introduce some sort of break from angsty situations and/or comic relief from time to time.

What interests you have outside of roleplay; such as a hobby.
Usually, I don't have time to engage in many hobbies, but whenever I can, I often choose between these ones:

• reading
• writing
• drawing/painting
• playing the guitar
• swimming
• horseback riding
• playing TTRPGs
• learning languages
• watching series/films/anime

My interests, in general, are very eclectic, however, they gravitate around the following ones:

• Medicine
• Science in general
• History
• Mythology
• Music
• Art
• Philosophy
• Literature

Despite the fact that I like creative writing, my writing experience is mostly built upon opinion articles, reviews and technical articles. About a week ago I started attending fencing classes. Still deciding if I actually am going to keep up with them, but I am enjoying it a lot! We are all a bunch of nerds there haha. I like playing videogames as well, in spite of the fact that I don't do so in ages.

Why you decided to join RpNation.
I am searching for a place in which I can find roleplays that are more connected to my interests in general, but also in order to make some new friends and to learn new things, as well as improving my writing skills.

Overall, I am a huge cat mum haha. I have 5 cats, one of which is 10 years old at the moment, but she looks like a young kitten, despite her advanced age. The last cat we rescued is around a year old now and she is so energetic! We also have a dog. He was meant to be a hunting hound, but the hunter decided that he didn't want him and his siblings, and, unfortunately, things weren't exactly going to end well for Freud (my dog) if we hadn't rescued him and his siblings on time. Sadly enough, we couldn't keep them all, but we found very good homes for the rest of the puppies and now they are living with families that love and take such good care of them! Aside from the cats and the dog, I also have a turtle: he is 19 years old and up to some weeks ago we thought that he was actually a female. We renamed him Leonardo, due to the Mutant Ninja Turtles. Not the most creative name ever, but that cartoon had such a huge impact on my childhood.

Roleplaying is a hobby I enjoy, and one I learn more about the more I indulge myself. It is my hope that I'll have many opportunities to improve while collaborating with wonderful people of this very website!

Hello! This was my first time on this sight so I thought I would introduce myself. I used to do a lot of online role plays, but I eventually drifted in to playing IRL games with friends. However I thought it might be fun to get back in to some online games. I have a lot of experience playing a lot of different settings. From science fiction, to fantasy, to post apocalypse, to super heroes. I do some small dming, but not often yet. I look forward to getting into some good games with you guys. On a side question, where would I go to get into a story?

Joined on a whim, I've always been a fan of a good, loose roleplay. I'm also bad at introductions.

Uuuuh...I write and draw as a hobby, and have over 200 characters that almost all exist in one large multiverse. As such, I'm very good at playing the...unofficial DM, I guess you could call it? I can supply a vast world and plenty of characters to interact with, along with detailed rules on how a world could work if need be.

I draw mostly anthro art (I do not count myself as a furry. I just like drawing strange looking critters.), but have some aliens and human-looking characters, too. I guess it's good that smut isn't allowed here because I don't much care for it, but I do have some characters that can come off as...creepy. I try to have characters that are all unique and have differing world views. When I'm in character it's best to remember that I do not necessarily hold the views my creation does, obviously. That would be a big yikes.

Hopefully I can make some new RP partners and create some fun new works together? I'm shy but nice so feel free to drop by and say hi! I'll get the hang of this site eventually, I hope xD

My name's Jada and I've been roleplaying for about 5 years? I've been roleplaying semi-literately for only 2 of those 5 years though. These days I'm really in South Park cuz I think it has a lot of potential. I don't have anything against one-liners but I do dislike people who roleplay with one-liners not reading when I say I'm only looking for literate and semi-literate roleplayers. I joined RP Nation to find more people interested in the roleplay that I am also interested in.

My name is Maize, and I'm new to this site, but I've been RPing for over 11 years!
I'm personally into a lot of different Roleplay types, and I'll honestly accept whatever you wanna offer. My favorites are apocalyptic, hurt/comfort, overall angsty stuff... I may have a few issues, but that's not much to worry about! Fluff and romance are stuff I'm perfectly willing to do as well!
Outside of RP, I don't really do too much. I watch YouTube and I film cosplay tiktoks. I also draw, but I highly doubt I'll ever be posting any of it anywhere but discord.
I decided to join here the other day because I realized I tend to gravitate more obscure interests that don't tend to have a lot of RPers, so I'm here in hopes of finding some!
Oh! I also own 3 different pets and I love them all! 2 cats and 1 little leopard gecko! The cats are both small, pure black cats named Miracle and Jiji, though we call Miracle Bubby because I'm dumb and accidentally said that instead of 'Baby' once. The leopard gecko is Sophie and she's my little baby!
