You can owe that to the environment she grew up in. In takes a village, as it were, and when you all share the same situation, and the situation sucks, and you watch as one day your classmate wakes up, and they just "don't have a mom" or "don't have a dad" enough times, you stop fearing it could be you next and start accepting that the best you, or anyone else can do, is be there for them.

Couple that with the fact that their shelter is effectively a large agricultural shelter, it the 'farming' did well to instill solid work ethic and understanding that sometimes if you want your situation to bear fruit, you gotta do a little digging in the dirt.

A perfect scenario melded with a solid personality to make a good person pretty much.

Besides, it isn't like she wants for much. She came back online from being lauded a hero/saint in real life, and her immediate default was to go work as a virtual orchard tender. She would prefer a peaceful life, but if she thinks she can help, the least she can do is try.
