Chapter 2: Of Protagonists and Plot Devices

THE HERMIT
Bern soon found herself looking right in the eyes of a pair of twins; toddlers, she noted, both instantly looking afraid of her. It was unsurprising, though; Bernkastel was naturally a very intimidating woman. As Masakazu made his narration on how they were Bismarck's flesh and blood, she lifted Phineas, staring into a pair of bright green eyes for a moment before running a finger across his chin. The man did have a point, so she'd give credit for that. She would have to knock off some points for not retrieving the right targets, but ah well. This only caused her to formulate a plan on how to get Bismarck and Chuck to her hideout. She handed Phineas off to another soldier, followed with Nikolas, instructing them in Latin to put the twins in a cage. With that, she watched them get sent away, and, after doing a couple victory backflips in midair while humming (and causing a good amount of nosebleeds in the process), she went back to her sprawled-across-the-air position, facing Masakazu once again (and giving Yozaku a good view of what was beneath the dress).

"I won't deny it, Masakazu, I can't say I am angry at you," she said calmly, a hand moving to touch his cheek gently. Once again, Bernkastel was mildly flirting to get what she wanted. She had learned to play these men like a violin; and when she did this, it created a beautiful melody. "Now for the next task at hand—blackmailing the targets. I'd recommend calling Bismarck. He's more likely to give himself up and less likely to put up a major fight. Now if we could just–" Bern paused, witnessing a girl run into Yozaku; she immediately pulled out her scythe and lunged, attempting to pin the girl against a gravestone. Once she succeeded, she stared at her silently.

She was beautiful.

Shit.

Eyes wide pinned against the gravestone, Katie breathing became quick and fast as she tried to come up with a way to get out of this situation. Coming up with nothing she finally decided to continue with her plan of apologizing and begging for her life.

"I-im so sorry I didn't mean to stumble on this I'm just on my way to work I really don't want to die which I know is always a possibility in this town but please don't kill me I won't say anything about this I didn't even hear anything I don't- I can't- I won't tell anyone just please don't kill me." She rambled tears filling her eyes quickly.

One of the Bismarck’s children must’ve gained Bern’s interest. Masakazu bit his lower-lip, his whole physiology was screaming out his loosely kept mindset that was riddled with apprehensive backlash from what he had just brought this lady-friend of his, death was not of which he feared but more or less the idea of disappointing Bernkastel, after all he had his full interest placed into captivating this dame. Upon thoroughly examining Phineas, Masakazu was relieved to see that she accepted this offer of his although it may of been a bit of a let-down not seeing Bismarck or his brother’s smug face being beaten ruthlessly to a pulp, at the minimum it was favored to have her still be in good gracious with the fearsome Oyabun after this transpire of events. After sending both Phineas and Nikolas off with a undisclosed soldier she openly rejoiced by doing a few celebratory loops, one after another as she remained hovering off the ground with Masakazu getting a helpful glance at a more bodily image of her. He never knew the purpose of why she worse such a dress, especially when everyone in the vicinity could cast their peeping eyes to the lingerie underneath, or maybe she believes that could be used as an advantage over an ally or enemy? Fortunately for the opposing force they’d be able to see something pleasant before being brought to the ‘void’. “Oh heh. Thanks!” He shivered from a mixture of embarrassment and her dainty hand sliding a few of her knuckles against his cheek in a seductive manner.

If Masakazu wasn’t infatuated by her before, he definitely was now. His heart-strings may be frozen from time to time but Miss Bernkastel knew a way around, she could melt them into icy-droplets and send his temperature into an everlasting elevation of warmth. “Bismarck isn’t exactly good at listening to orders, just so you know. I’m sure he’s had plenty of time to think things over now that he doesn’t have his kids present! Ha, should’ve seen the look on his face, priceless! And when I rammed a freaking bus into his store, now that was beautiful.” Masakazu knew that idea was a bit over-dramatic and sloppy but he had to drive a point home that he wasn’t one of those ordinary ruffians that would demand things and make pointless threats just to seem ‘tough’. He was man that was all about making a spectacular entrance and having those that cross him be used as an example to those that even think of acting up around him. Bern’s rapid succession of movement was alarming at first as she moved towards something but Masakazu was intrigued to see another face, Yozakazu, a pig. "Closest you've came to catching me, so close but yet so far." He smiled, taunting him as he walked past only to see Bern negotiating some woman. Yozaku, a random girl that somehow stumbled through the wrong burial ground on her to work! Instantly she regret her decision after being pinned up against headstone, tears flooding her eyes and making a loud fuss about not wanting to die.“Jeeze, she’s real siren. Who the hell wanders through a cemetery on their way to work? She drunk or something?" He situated his rear-end onto one of the flatter surfaces that the gravestones had to offer, not the most comfortable but it would do in the meantime. Masakazu couldn’t help but think about something else, as he pushed his hand to his chin. Was Damien one of Bismarcks guys? No, that wouldn’t make sense. Run of the mill thieves would’ve made off with pricey loot not documents and information. Bismarck’s guys weren’t exactly spies either.

Yozaku Ishimori
Yozaku sighed rolling his eyes as Bern flirted with the help. He smirked watching as she flipped, as the opertune time arrived Yozaku was sure to take plenty of panty shot, although the scene also caused a server in his neueobanks to overload, which made several Sparks fly from his ear. "The only reason your ass isn't hanging from a noose somewhere is because you're useful to Bern. Don't push your luck, hehe" Yozaku's voice suddenly taking a dangerous, and robotic turn. More rusty, and static, with just enough cold, metallicism to make it unerving. He was quickly shaken out of it as someone bumped into him. His eye widened in shock, as he nearly fell on his face.

He turned around to see who had bumped into him, prepared to chew off the ear of some Devicto Mortis lacky off. But was startled to see it was a girl, he stood up wiping the dust from his clothes,"Damn! Watch where you're going girl! You may find yourself bumping into some unsavory individuals."

Yozaku joked, crossing his arms and standing behind Bern. Then he looked at Masakazu, raising an eyebrow at him as if to say,"really?" He looked around them then cleared his throat, talking rather low."Umm well considering we're doing business in a cemetery, I wouldn't say it's all the crazy a idea. Besides, the cemetery is far safer a place than the streets. Don't have to worry about getting killed, because most everyone here's already dead."

Yozaku poined out, then turned to Bern a massive grin spreading from cheek to cheek on him. He walked next to her, and leaned into he ear, a playful yet sly look in his eye.He had known Bern long enough to know what was going on between her, and the strange girl. " You know, I have no interest in her, but if you really think she's so cute I wouldn't mind inviting her over for one of our...Um sessions."

Bernkastel looked calmly at the girl for a moment, observing her as though she had never seen a girl in her life. She was a pretty one, she noted, cocking her head as she rambled on and on about not wanting her to kill her. There was a long pause, and her eyes flickered to Yozaku when he spoke, her cheeks turning pink. What was she doing?! She needed to turn back into Scary Bernkastel, and quick. Of course, she looked pretty scary anyways, what with her practically glaring at Katie for a long time. After a few minutes, she seemed to make her decision, putting her scythe away and looking to Yozaku.

"Cute. I want to take her home," she said softly, grabbing Katie and hugging her like one would hug a new doll before handing her off to Yozaku. "Yozaku. Do me a favor and take her to The Heart. Make sure she doesn't get away." After saying that, she got back to her conversation with Masakazu. Life was just getting better and better by the minute. She was practically getting her happiness handed to her, an idea that the female was very fond of due to her very low-key laziness. She smirked at mention of crashing a bus through Bismarck's store. That alone was enough to bring Bernkastel happiness, and it was clear she was pleased when she leaned into Yozaku, smoothing out his shirt as she looked into his eyes. She felt willing to mess with him just a little; his reactions were always amusing to Bern. "Well, Masakazu, you can't deny the feeling....." she said calmly, trailing off a little, then adding with a smirk as she drew away, "....Of victory. Our two organizations make an excellent team, and now that we have a strategy, we can demolish that wretched gang that calls themselves Llyria Harp."

Trololol, as Eduard Khil would say.

  • Vendetta's cackles slowly grew quieter after Stewart's response. Her big grin shrunk to a small smile, which shrunk to a frown. Blinking, she looked down at the demon with confused look...before taking out a vial of white vinegar and throwing it to the floor, causing the salt to get carried along with the streams and the circle to be dispelled. Not wasting anytime, she immediately grabbed the demon, threw him over her shoulder like a sack of potatoes, and booked it out of his room, ignoring the cage of two small children being carried past her.

"YOU KNEW WHERE HE WAS AND DIDN'T TELL ME?!" She cried to Stewart, quickly running into her room and grabbing her gauntlets, as well as some extra vials of catnip, before running out and about in the tombs again. That bitch DID know! She told STEWART, but not the one who was actually looking for the fuck?! And it was smack dab in the middle of omega too! She had seen it and heard about it, but she didn't fucking know that Jumbo was actually WILLIAM FUCKING HENSON! An orphanage! An orphanage for god's sake!

Jumping out of the secret casket, she ran past the 'queen' herself and two of her little toys, some dumb cop in over his head and a little fuck-face gang leader or something.
"SCREWYOUBERN!" Vendetta yelled quickly before she began to book it for the Omega sector. She had a rat to kill.

Filled with confusion as the lady the the scythe hugged her, Katie slowly started to get a hold of herself as she was handed over to the man she fell on when she first got in this situation. Wiping the few tears that had fallen she took a couple deep breaths she looked at the woman in a mixture of relief and confusion.

"You mean your not going to kill me?" She asked cautiously, not wanting them to suddenly change their minds and leave her for dead in the cemetary when she still had so much work to finish. After a shot pause she continued her stuttering.

"Thank you b-but I need to get to my diner. I'm already an hour late for opening and the owner of the building is coming by so I can pay the lease and I really don't want to lose it. I-if you could just let me do that I'll do anything you want just please don't change your mind about letting me live!" Her request seemed rather silly now that she thought of it. If they were going to keep her for who knows what then what was the point of keeping the diner? But it was to late at this point, she could take back her words now.

Masakazu Fuma.

(Location: Hell City, Devicto Mortis HQ)(Currently: Wondering about Damien.)
Masakazu overlooked Katie’s frantic actions for a minute, she was practically convulsing with fear as she pleaded for her life to Bernkastel. Seeing the terrifying thousand-yard stare in that woman’s blank gaze and the stone-cold expression sprawled across her face made him get all sorts of jitters inside, butterflies felt as if they were sprouting within his heart from this woman’s authoritative attitude and a willingness to instinctively cut someone’s throat if they ever got on her bad side. She was an absolute lunatic with a craving desire that boasted only herself, Bernkastel was a queen amidst a chess-board, she knew how to play the pieces and move the pawns without feeling any regret for the ones that are taken off the board, Masakazu’s imaginary day-dreaming state took over as he envisioned both of them, not a perverse dream of the sort but more of an insane one. In this delusional fantasy, Bern and him were enjoying themselves by flaying someone in a basement, most likely Bismarck as their screams sounded alike and afterwards they turned to each other with a heated passion felt from their actions as they begun to partake in romance. Masakazu never heard how elegant that sweet chuckle of hers sounded in person, she was overjoyed to have all these drones around her and he was none the wiser. Of course he’d get immediately jealous when his puppy love crush was leaning up against that dirtbag Yozaku. He basically threw himself onto a grenade just so she could be happy and this doughnut eating mongrel of a police chief intruded on their ‘love’. Masakazu was unaware of Bern’s intentions but he was a bit confused as to why Chief Ishimori was here making himself look ‘pretty’.

Damn him, he thought, clenching his fists out of spite until he felt a wave of air push through his own lips. Obviously he was going to have to step his game up, she might’ve been impressed by this little showing but he had something in store for her that he wanted to show, something that would guarantee both of them to have a chance if not more! “Absolutely, Lydia Harp will face judgment day and all of us will cherish the day we place their heads upon spikes and drink to our success.” He’d have to agree with her on that aswell, both of them being allied together was one of the best things that could ever happen, united both Tora Syndicate and Devicto Mortis could claim Hell City and eventually the surrounding territories next to them. Masakazu wished to mention one more thing before all of them went back inside and into the bowels of Bernkastel’s headquarters, he wanted to give her a present that would hopefully mean more than anything to her, pushing all those that fancy her away and securing a route for his love. “Oh, i’d like to mention something to you Bern, there’s something i’ve been planning to give you! Something that i’ve held out for a very long time until a special occasion presented itself! Our enterprises have been struggling through hardships whether it be Lydia Harp or so forth, but a few months prior i’ve discovered a being, this ‘creature’ looks like a human but don’t let it fool you. No ordinary flesh and bones could kill at such a rate, even I was dazzled. So i’d like to give you!” Vendetta’s odd-timing was something he didn’t expect and at such the worst moment causing him to bite his lip from shock and to yell out “Damn it!” After she popped out of a casket like some sort of maniac and proceed to yell a profanity at Bern before scattering out of the eerie place with a head full of steam. She was absolutely bonkers, so much so that even Masakazu wouldn’t take an interest in her, that and she was a bit too young for his tastes.

Yozaku Ishimori
Yozaku wasn't shocked when Bern hugged the girl. He always had known her preferences, but in his self deluded ways, thought she could learn to love him more than others. To he perfectly honest this wasn't a issue though, of Bern wanted to keep some female pets around he didn't care. He nodded, grabbing the formerly begging for her life girl. His expression soured as she began asking to be let go, only to go do something about a diner? Did she really think they'd fall for something like that? Honestly? Yozaku leaned into the girl, now face to face with the girl. He put on his policemen charm, a kind dependable feel coming about him."Don't worry, I'm someone of high standing. I can make certain your diner, and all are safe. So please, relax, and come with me." He said in the gentlest, and most kind of voices, the complete opposite of his robot voice.

He then lifted the girl up in his arms, carrying her much like a groom might do a bride. Although he was distracted momentarily by Bern, who saw it fit to taunt everyone as usual. As she leaned into him, he leaned back into her, not getting close enough for a kiss though. He didn't want to start infighting after all, that wouldn't be good. Not only would he and the force have to break it up, but it would put a damper on Bern's plans. He gave an annoyed look to the criminal scum, as he started talking about some killing machine."God! How stupid are you? Why would we need such a person? Not only would they posse a threat to us, but our plan is a bit more sophisticated than mindless slaughter. After all Bern likes to make her slaughter personal, and we'll thought out. But the thoughts what the fuck," Yozaku blurted out suddenly cut off by vendetta, his human eye twitched in disbelief, as she basically insulted Bern. He furrowed his brow in irritation, and his cybernetic arm turned into a large tazer like gun."Ohhh please let me do it Bern! You can even decide the wattage!" Yozaku pleased, his arm charging up, and locking on, preparing to fire. He had about enough insults for the day.

He just kind of watched her grab her gauntlets, quickly rushing back to his room to retrieve his sword, Legatum de Exubilius, and, after testing a few swings, he grabbed a piece of chalk and his chalkboard, stuffing them in his bag, before joining the raging Vendetta and following her out of the casket, reminiscent of a duckling following its mother into a lake. He snickered at the profanity shouted at Bern; Vendetta was really funny sometimes. Once they were out of the graveyard, he smiled cheekily at Vendetta, placing his sword in its scabbard.

"Hey, Vendetta, can I skewer the tiny human with my sword? Can I? Can I?" he begged, giving her the puppy-dog eyes as he waved his hands about for emphasis. This was just so exciting; they were going on a tiny human hunt! And Vendetta was angry, which turned it pretty comical to Stewart, who enjoyed the face that she made whenever mad at William, that little rat of a teensy-weensy human! Yes, it was because of William that he, the Demon of Nails Scratching on Chalkboards and Sin of Incompetence, was having to act as though he cared about Vendetta's personal vendetta against a silly mouse boy. So, in order to rule the world, he would stoop to the role of mere servant. Stewart's head became filled with the thought of after her victory and after the mouse boy's blood was painted across the floor. That was when he would claim his first victim. He looked to Vendetta, keeping an oddly cheerful grin that didn't match his thoughts spread across his face.

Then, after a long pause, he stopped in his tracks. He had walked slightly ahead, now very close to the JTA headquarters. A small giggle erupted from his mouth, then he turned to Vendetta, his arms clasped behind his mouth as he smiled at her.
"Welp, here we are~! This is gonna be fun!"

Bernkastel noticed Masakazu's obvious jealousy for Yozaku; she smiled slightly as Masakazu drew her attention back to him by telling her he had another surprise for her. A surprise, hm....? That definitely sounded like an intriguing offer, so she nodded at him, trying to imagine what it could be based on the description. By the sound of it, it was some sort of creature, and a damn scary one too. She nodded, almost completely ignoring Vendetta as she walked past, shouting "screw you" in her direction. She looked back at Yozaku, surprised when he pointed his gun at her Furfur, then placed a hand to her mouth, allowing a low chuckle to come out. "My, my, aren't you the toughie," she said softly before shaking her head, grabbing his gun and pushing it down. "But no, Yozaku. I tasked you with bringing this girl down to my room and I expect you to do that and only that. I don't like being disappointed....perhaps I'll reward you later with something special if you follow my orders."

After having given her input there, Bern then let out a slightly annoyed sigh, looking back at Masazaku. A small small returned to her face as she decided to go back to messing around with him, casually taking his hand and unrolling the sleeve....to check his watch. After having seen the time, she smoothed out his sleeve once again before whispering in his ear. "All right, you have me interested. Show it to me, Masakazu."

Bernkastel wasn’t one to stray away from freaks, including ones that Masakazu have yet to discover on his own! Seeing that furious woman trail out of the cemetery with a morbid intent was a bit humorous to watch aside from it causing him to bite his own lower-lip out of shock of course, oddly enough that lunatic of a woman had an extra appendage swaying behind her, a tail of some sort? Strange, he never knew she was enjoyed being around feline creatures! Maybe Masakazu could how her his own pet british shorthair, hopefully that would get her attention, or somewhat. Oh well, there’d be a time and a place for that but as of now he was more preoccupied with this showing that he had prepare for Miss Bern, a previous project involving human experimentation and so forth had now been used as a gift, one that Yozaku didn’t appeal to from his harsh expressiveness. “So, let me ask you something. Firstly, have you managed to hold your own against more than two or more gifted humans or do anything remotely productive while I was out trying to apprehend Bismarck and his sibling? Wars are but mindless slaughter, sending in pawns to do dirty-work while the kings and queens sit back and survey the mayhem. Wars are won through strength not only in numbers but in a single unit itself. This experimentation isn’t a mindless killing machine but something more! Something that she can use to have an even bigger advantage.” Masakazu shrugged off his insult with a rebuttal, facing the other way from him in disagreement.

Chief Yozaku, to think that Devicto Mortis would allow such a character to associate with them without even having a notion against it, he has a particular vengeance against criminals including himself, one of the reasons why he has bad blood with Masakazu. Either that or a few Tora Syndicate members in the past might’ve killed a few officers but surely it must’ve been a “Misunderstanding.” Things tend to spiral out of control when it comes to high-tension situations, “You complain to me about violence yet you wish to electrocute that cat-girl thing? My, you’re a bit wishy washy, but no hard feelings. Besides we’re all in this together! I mean, why else would you be here, alive, breathing, not strung up by a noose from one of the branches of the many weeping willows surrounding the graveyard.” Hostility was evidently present in his tone as he mentioned the last few bits about hanging him up from one of the trees like a late Christmas ornament but typically, Bern was there to act as a serene breeze of comfort. Masakazu sensed her taking his hand and unrolling his sleeve, it wasn’t exactly a sensual touch but he was alarmed by the fact that it was her touch and her touch alone. Why did she have to be so damn cute? He clenched up with a nervous expression over his face as she checked the time before closing in to whisper in his ear about being interested. “This well, prototype. Isn’t here as it’s locked up in the bowels of Tora Syndicate, Stuck in an 8x8 room that’s reinforced with 13-15 feet of concrete around it, not because it's specifically that unstable but more due to the fact I do not wish for a potential escape. Yozaku is right about one thing, this well.. Person, is very dangerous almost so that it’s been doped up with a certain chemical that prevents it from acting out, it works by using infrasounds at close distance, making the effects worsen. Well that’s what the sciency guy said! She put up one hell of a fight when she arrived though! Nobody knows her identity and she wouldn’t speak, we just called her Six from the tattoo on her cheek.” Masakazu mentioned before reaching into his wallet and pulling out a photo of the woman that he confiscated off of her a while back.

Bismarck didn't have much to say; in fact, he just kind of watched in horror as the man spoke, not feeling up to moving or doing anything at the moment. He did dismiss Dumbledore, staring for a long time into the flames before Maria put them out. He felt pathetic, not even helping when his kids needed him the most. There was a pause, then he forced himself to sit up, feeling the world spinning around him, then he broke down for what felt like the fiftieth time this day alone. He stopped himself before he could, instead nodding when Elizabeth asked if he and Chuck were okay. He was....well....alive. Sighing, he de-summoned Patronus, then, taking a deep breath, leaned against the wall to help himself stand. Once he was able to do so, he kept limping, snaking past the fire his phoenix had started, through the living room, up the stairs, then into the store area. His eyes were watery from both the pain and the sadness; his glasses lenses had caved on the right side, he still had a bullet lodged in his right arm and it hurt. But not nearly as bad as it hurt knowing that he had failed to save Nikolas and Phineas.

He looked over to Maria, seeing her slumped against the wall. Ah...Bismarck looked to his right, feeling his heart ache even more than it already was aching, at the large hole in the wall caused by a truck driving through their store, men shooting at his products and his verey carefully organized displays. The only thing that he had been proud of himself for before he became a father....but even now, he failed. He paused for a moment, then limped over to his wife, using the last of his energy to just go over to her. He took the chance to sit down; Bismarck's legs were aching from too much....just too much. Obviously trying not to cry, he turned to her. That fiery, beautiful girl that he loved, with her head bowed and this hopeless expression on her face...that's what made a few tears fall down his face as he leaned his head against her shoulder, ignoring the pain to just try and comfort her. He wasn't entirely sure what to say, though, so he just decided to be by her side. Once something actually did come to mind, he looked at her, his brown eyes slightly spiked with tears.

"........Th....They won't get away with this.....Chu-Chuck's calling for help and....and I'll try to contact someone too.....th-the more people we have, the less likely Bernkastel is to win....r-right?" He smiled weakly at Maria, then, noticing a pair of medical tweezers that had fallen to the floor, he took them, staring at the bullet wound then back at the tweezers, before taking off his shirt and showing the wound to Maria. "Erm.....I...I hope it's n-not too much trouble, bu-but are you okay with.....ah.....getting the bullet out? I-I do-don't want to be a nuisance with a bullet stuck in my arm...o-or something....I-I could patch you up in return....th-then we could maybe call Sierra.....w-we all know that she'd be mo-more than happy to help out...."
Maria Jones
Maria sighed heavily as she looked around the room. The store was in shambles, the kids were gone, and there was really nothing they could do about it. As of right now all hope rode on whether or not Chuck's plan worked. If they couldn't figure out where Bernkastel even was there was absolutely no point. Hell City was massive, people were murdered and sometimes didn't show up for years if they even showed up at all. She didn't want to think that they might be trying to kill her children or some other drastic thing, but that was a very real possibility.

When Bismarck walked up to her she looked up, then back down as he sat beside her. She did little more than put an arm around him and lean against him a bit when she felt his head on her shoulder, no words being spoken yet. She was trying her best not to start crying again herself, trying to keep strong despite her depressed and defeated expression. It was definitely different than she normally looked by far, for once the neko was entirely out of ideas and the drive to do things. When Bismarck spoke she managed a soft smile and nodded, "Yeah...I'm sure he'll help a lot.." She replied. She had a tiny glimmer of hope, even if it was just that. She had to after all. It wasn't like her to entirely give up, though for the most part she had done so entirely.

At his question she chuckled just a little, ruffling his hair and grabbed the tweezers. "How many times have I dug bullets out of you over the years?" She teased, leaning up a bit to get a better look at the wound. "This'll sting." She said as she started trying to get it out. "And yes...Sierra would be a good person to call. More help the better."

THE LETTERMAN Mitchs98 Mitchs98 Sugary_Paragraphs Sugary_Paragraphs
Bismarck immediately tensed up as he felt the tweezers soon started pulling out the bullet, lightly gripping Maria with his good arm as his eyes squeezed shut. It was painful, but he didn't want the wound to get infected or for him to be stuck on the sidelines. Not in this battle. He smiled sadly at Maria's teasing, feeling a light blush form on his face.

"Too many times....." He answered tiredly. If he had a nickel for every gunshot wound he received, every dastardly hit he took, he would probably have enough to buy a house in Alpha. He pondered that just for a minute. It was kind of sad to most people, but somehow, in some twisted way, it never bothered Bismarck. The best way to explain it, in his opinion, was that he was constantly getting hurt because he didn't want his loved ones getting hurt. And if that was right, he was doing a darn good job at it.

It was funny; there was a certain numbing feeling surrounding the injuries he had received. Guess it was because he had gotten beaten up so many times in his lifetime that it almost didn't matter anymore. Sighing a little, he looked back at Maria; he was grateful for her getting the bullet out of his arm for her. Bismarck made a mental note to bake her a thank-you pie later. Because a), he was glad that she was getting a bullet out of his arm and b), Bismarck was a stress baker.

Pandora looked up when Tanner mentioned entering Kathy's house, not believing his suggestion. B-But wasn't that bad? The young girl bit her lip, casting her gaze down to the ground. She then nodded slowly and timidly, unfurling her wings as she still held Tanner. "I-I....I think I know where she lives, so I could take you there, if you'd like...." the girl said quietly, only to shriek in alarm.

The head of the recently deceased Beta to Pack's Law had just rolled over and bumped directly into Pandora; the girl went a pale grey, staring with a shocked expression at her head, but even more shocked to see the rest of the Beta's body just feet away. There was a long pause, then the eyes lazily opened and Pandora received an oddly cocky grin from the head.

"What's this talk of invading the Thomas house?"

No answer from Pandora; just a bunch of stuttering and a surprised look as Lambdadelta's body stood up, grabbing her head and fixing it back on. She rolled her head around a couple of times, trying to get rid of a crick in the neck, then, when satisfied, turned to Tanner with a mock-pout on her face.

"Tanner, I'm ashamed of you! You do realize that Catalon will throw a fit if he finds out!" she chirped, waving a finger at him scoldingly. Then she smirked, crossing his arms. "But I won't tell if you let me come along...after my sweet asshole of an ex beat me in that chess game, I'm just about ready to scream~!"

Pandora fainted.

"--I mean, really, I already knew I was screwed once she pulled the Ruy Lopez on me, and it only got worse as the game came along....I was so close to getting the privilege of stabbing her, too....." Lambda pouted, crossing her arms as she grumbled, "So unfair..."

Katie still quite in shock about everything that happened stayed quite in the room the half cyborg put her in. She knew there was no use trying to bargain or find a way to escape. Besides, the man guarding her was obviously strong if he had been able to hold her with only one arm. Though she could have done without the hand on her ass thank you very much. Perhaps she could bargain with the woman who sent her here in the first place. She didn't seem to unreasonable.

Her thoughts were interrupted by a rather loud grumble and a pang in her stomach, reminding her she hadn't eaten anything all day. Rather nervously she called out to get the man's attention.

"Excuse me but you wouldn't happen to have anything to eat do you? I didn't have time to grab breakfast this morning so I'm a little hungry..." She trailed off, a bit anxious while she waited for what she hoped would be a positive answer.

Bern listened amusedly to the two men arguing, still relatively close to Masakazu as Yozaku stormed off to actually follow her orders. That man was easier to manipulate than a hand puppet. She then listened to what Masakazu said about the "gift"; it sounded like an intriguing proposition to her, and her eyes lit up especially when he mentioned that this person was dangerous. Perfect. She needed more of that within her forces. She nodded at the details, even mentally noting each of them while thinking of all the things she could do with this "Six" girl. She took the photograph from Masakazu, giving it the once-over. A small smile formed on her face.

"She's a pretty one," she murmured, running her index finger on the edges of the photograph. "She looks just as strong as you say she is, too. That's good." Bernkastel handed the photo back to Masakazu by carefully folding it and placing it in his shirt pocket. Her hand lingered there just for a moment before moving away to tug on her collar, a small sigh exhaling from her lips. "In other words, I'll take it. Thank you, Mazzy." And feeling especially manipulative at the moment, she leaned in and kissed him on the lips. It was a short and sweet one, but Bernkastel knew it would make him go all flustered. It was fun making him think she cared that much for him.

Having this consistent argument with Yozaku was setting its toll on Masakazu, each deliverance given from his windpipe continued to ridicule him for having such a harebrained scheme, of course his suspicions of this newfound specimen was reasonable as this test-subject that the Syndicate leader acquired was dysfunctional and had a probability of going rogue, even if that was the case, Masakazu felt an overabundance in confidence when it came to this project as it took a year of testing on one living being to eventually break the girl’s will and discover a method of ultimate control over the subject. Despite how dangerous it could be, he felt that odds favored him and that any opportunity that strived for success should be taken even if it meant having risks involved, without risk there would be no challenges to face! Everything would be bland, too mediocre for the likes of a crazed man. Smirking, Masakazu listened to him all the way without interrupting him just to humor him for a moment but still have a distasteful expression written across his face that embodied arrogance. He nearly busted a gut when the puffed up police chief mentioned him having to always look over his shoulder, threatening to send his little ‘piggies’ after him once he outlives his usefulness. That just meant that he had more toys to play with! Once he heard Bernkastel’s remark, he eventually followed through and darted back inside to the headquarters, Masakazu couldn’t help but give him a friendly gesture as he left, waving his hand at him before giving him the middle-finger salute.

“Toodles.” He scoffed, turning back to Bernkastel with his arms crossed over his chest while alleviating his inner-tension by inhaling a fresh of breath air and exhaling out his stressful thoughts, his wonders about what would happen when all of this ended was a bit concerning. Firstly Miss Bern had that officer in her mitts but then again, she was working with the police, but it was probably for a good reason. Masakazu felt like she’d make a decision in the end that would have them still remain as business partners but of course there was variability around the subject at hand. “Yeah, she’s no Bernkastel though.” Masakazu said, letting a small flirtatious comment slide by as he listened to hear continue on, he was ultimately unprepared for what had happened next. Feeling a random tug on his collar, he looked at her as his eyes widened. She pulled him closer? This was a bit too close, he enjoyed being within this sort of length of her but he was quite flustered by her behavior. Then after a one-sided exchange of words he was given a light kiss that made his eyebrows ascend up his face, once Bernkastel departed her lips from his, Masakazu’s face remained the same as if it were frozen in complete shock. “Uh.” Not only was he unable to render all of his thoughts completely but he couldn’t speak properly either after, only letting out a simple confused sound as he looked at her. “You’re welcome. So uh, er.. Not sure when you’d like to see the person in the flesh but i’m up for prepping the girl anytime but if you’d like for me to assist you with a few things i’d be delighted. Have anything in mind for those children? Perhaps that traitor of mine?” He asked, straying a bit away from what happened, not that he didn’t like it. Masakazu never had an experience like that with someone with the likes of her, someone who he genuinely enjoyed. This was a first, hopefully it wouldn’t be the last in his mind.

She giggled a bit as she peeked her head up and smiled, looking around her slightly rundown but still decent room. She hopped out of bed and pulled her jumpsuit off, kneeling in front of the bed and setting it aside to pull a box out. Rather than a closet she stored every single item of clothing in a box. She rummaged through it, deciding today she would try out a dress. It couldn't hurt, right..? She was slowly not being bothered by people seeing her stitches anymore, of which there were quite a few all over her body. Sure she could of probably pulled them out and the wounds healed...but she didn't want to risk it. She had no idea what they were even stitching together at this point and didn't want to hurt herself.

Dress acquired she hopped up and went to take a shower. Afterwards she got dressed...though had no underwear of any kind to speak of. It was a foreign concept to her, the girl not even owning a pair as she normally wore her jumpsuit wherever she went. Now dressed she hummed softly as she walked down the stairs to get breakfast, simply getting herself a bowl of cereal and basically inhaling it. Afterwards she made her way out of the heavy steel door that separated her home from the outside of Omega. Though most people knew not to fuck with her regardless, more than a few trying to kill her but failing miserably.

The albino girl continued her soft humming as she walked down the street, red eyes scannig everything. After a while, by sheer dumb luck it would seem, she was running full speed down the street from a pack of angry dogs. "Noooo! Leave Shiro alone! Shiro doesn't have food!" She cried. Nearing a graveyard she questioned why there was a random big building in the middle of it but didn't question much. No, soon she basically re-enacted Kool-Aid Man as she busted through the wall. Though rather than shouting 'Oh yeah!' like our red colored friend, she was screaming like a banshee and ended up colliding directly into Bernkastel. "SAVE SHIRO!" She screeched, having no idea who the woman was but hey maybe she could help.

THE HERMIT
Bernkastel couldn't help but smile at Masakazu's flustered reaction. That "uh" said enough to her as to how he felt about the kiss, not to mention his expression was the most amusing she had seen in a long time. She listened to him trying to regain his composure, looking overall amused as he let out a confused noise. By the time he changed the subject, she knew that he had fully recovered from the shock, and that he'd likely be in shock for a long time. For once, she didn't draw away, staying in the same place she was in, thinking of what exactly she would do with the traitor. Then again, she already knew exactly what she would do to him for daring to betray an ally. "We will get information from him. That's the most simple way to describe it. Of course, I can't really say that he will come out unharmed from all of this. Because I have a mind to break his arm....betrayal is a sin, especially in Devicto Mortis....and especially to such an important ally as the Tora Syndicate. What a terrible person...." she added, moving away to dial the number of Chuck Saedor. Might as well torment him for a moment or two.

Regardless of whether or not he answered the phone, she spoke gently, softly as she flew a bit to the left, lounging in midair.
"I have recently received a package named Nikolas and Phineas Saedor," she commented, looking boredly at her nails. "It seems the delivery man handed me the wrong package, though........maybe if you surrender the package I want, then I'll give you the package that is yours. You know I want you and your brother, eh, Chucky?" The next sound was loud and crazed laughter, then Bern hung up, just seconds before a white-haired girl burst through the wall of the graveyard and leapt at Bern; she tried to fly up to avoid the girl, but found herself pinned to the ground. Her heels just barely touched it, but it was painful to Bernkastel. A part of the spell that made her sky-bound was that the ground would feel like she was standing on a bed of nails.

Totally worth it, but not Bern's greatest concern as she glared daggers at Shiro; she had shouted at her to save the girl. Frustrated, she shoved Shiro off of her, pointing her scythe at a bunch of rabid dogs that had been chasing her. Then she glared at her own men, flying upwards a good six feet.
"Occidere eos," she commanded coolly. The Devicto Mortis lackeys followed her instructions, drawing their guns and shooting the dogs. Bernkastel herself beheaded a couple, and, her dress stained with blood, she turned to Shiro, swooping down so she was right in her face.

"Leave."

Lily stopped in her tracks upon hearing Samson's annoying voice; she scoffed, turning to face the man with a hateful expression on her face. "'Oh, look at me, I'm Samson Hearth and I'm gonna solve everything!' Yeah, like that's gonna happen, buddy. Do you have any idea what kind of idiot you are?" the Grim Reaper snarled, giving him the death glare. "Summoning Lucifer and leaving Hell to be ran by the God of fucking DEATH. I'm getting TEN TIMES more work than before while old Lucy is sittingf around making everything worse. I hope you go to hell so Hades can kick your ass," she added, crossing her arms as she gave Samson the look-over.

"All the same, you're offering a ride and bullshit, so I guess you can tag along. But try anything and you'll be honored enough to die of death." At this Lily took out her scythe, looking at it fondly. This thing had tagged along on all of her Reaping missions in the last seven years. Masakazu was still a bit discomposed as to what happened, Bernkastel without any reconsideration went up to him and gave him a compassionate peck on the lips. Only just recently have they’ve been associated with one another and now the relationship that they’ve now had went up drastically? From Masakazu’s standpoint he just thought she was a straight to business type of woman just from the actions that she’s demonstrated alone, from being satisfied with capturing of two children that could be useful assets to that awkward kiss instead of being embraced with a hug, obviously the unwise gang-leader wasn’t aware of his gullibility but Bernkastel was gripping this advantage tightly and using it anyway she could. Soon she spoke of the traitor, Damien? Masakazu remembered that initiate’s beating during his bout in the arena, being placed up against ten other men and trying to endure a brutal beat-down for at least fifteen minutes, being the stocky sort of man he was, Masakazu thought that he’d probably get a few good hits in and be able to withstand the pummeling of fists but he didn’t expect him to take out all ten of them within that fifteen minute marker! Only using his legs and hands to neutralize his opponents, he was no ordinary aspiring syndicate member, this individual was certainly a spy, but from where?

“You sure you don’t want me to do it? I wouldn’t want to stress you out by making you deal with this troublesome member of mine, unless you’d like to release some steam then that’s entirely up to you! You can do whatever you please with him, but there’s no doubt in my mind. That captive is holding information and he’s working with an organization but it couldn’t be Lydia harp, this person wasn’t after anything of value except documents and his demeanor seemed very professional, almost military.” Scratching his head at the puzzling situation, he trotted around from left to right with his hands behind his back and his face convulsing with random thoughts pertaining to this traitor. Who’d profit from getting information from criminal organizations? Nothing made sense and everything was hush-hush, all he knew was that getting information from Damien was going to be quite the pain in the ass. Speaking of pain, a dark memory soon presented itself after the sound of loud barking was heard coming over a grassy sloped hill and into the confines of the grave-yard. Dogs, nothing but dogs! This wasn’t his day, Masakazu panicked as he heard the loud mutts approaching. Acting quickly, Masakazu hid in one of the opened sepulchers among the cemetery. He sure desired the ability of flight which his female companion had, if he did he’d be out of this place in a heartbeat! “Please tell me that the dogs are gone.” Masakazu poked his head out from the opening of the concrete sepulcher while darting his pupils from place to place, watching out for any stray canines that managed to escape Bern’s wrath.

Yozaku Ishimori
Yozaku wasn't happy he was on babysitting duty. But he would do just about anything for Bern. So long as it had both their best interest in mind. Yozaku frowned, glaring at Katie, his stance showing his annoyance. He was rather guarded with his arms crossed and his rather muscular figure blocking the door. "Damn lousy girl, gotta baby sit her, better be worth it." He grumbled to himself, then his eyes narrowed suspiciously as the girl asked for something to eat. He sighed, rubbing his temples , frustrated by the situation even more now. "If you're hungry theirs some donuts on the bedside over their."
Yozaku said pointing out the dozen donuts he had brought over this morning. He hadn't gotten to eat many, due to immediately being set out on a mission for Bern. His tone was rather hostile, and stern, and his glare didn't waiver for a moment. "So what exactly are you doing here anyway? It's a dangerous place for a girl like yourself. Or are you more deadly than you appear, after all there are no innocents in hell city." Yozaku seemed to gaze off into space for a moment, as if he where focusing back in on reality.

Samson Hearth

Samson smirked at Lily's hateful glare, only giving her a fond smile in return."Oh I know, I'm the kind of idiot who unleashed hell upon earth. Then sits back, and watches the world burn. It's rather amusing don't you think?"
Samson asked a cocky grin adorned upon his face. A rather handsome face at that, he was truly grateful for his position in this world. It had become so much more amusing since ole Lucy returned. "Oh wait, I suppose you deal in death, so it's rather tedious work for you. I do apologise for that, I was hoping Lucifer would do something about that. So you wouldn't need to worry about collecting the souls as much." Samson said a genuine look of sympathy on his face. As if his bubble had just burst, he didn't wish tedious boring task upon anyone. But still he needed his amusement, so someone had to suffer. He stood up and walked next to Lily, placing a hand on her shoulder. A sly look on him, as she warned him not to try anything," oh don't worry I wouldn't dream of doing anything to interfer with your endeavors. I just enjoy watching,"
He said with a eerie laugh, the meaning behind his words truly tickling him."As for what motivated me to bring back Lucifer, well I'd have thought you have been informed by now. Don't you feel it? The end of the world is nigh."

His eyes seemed to light up at this thought, a great blue flame roaring in his pupils, down to his very soul." Oh yes, the world is going to end, nothing any of us can really do to stop it. So I thought it wouldn't be fair to leave ole Lucy out of the fun." Samson rose his free hand, and a blue fireball appeared on it." Oh yes, the world's going to burn, and when it does. I'm going to watch it from my throne!"
Before he could be bothered to explain his meaning he slammed the fireball into the ground, and it erupted covering both of them in glorious blue flames. Then they'd be gone, having teleported to their designated location, via Phoenix flame express, only a figure of smoke left, which had a silluette of both their bodies, before it vanished into the air.

  • William fist-pumped when Lily nodded her head. YES! One down, one more to go! He turned to Rika, a big grin on his, but it wavered when he saw her look unsure again. He was about to say something, but Lily had already beat him to the punch, causing him to mock-pout at her. He blinked at Rika's answer and sighed. She was still worried about this time-loop thing. William listened into what Lily was saying and nodded to what she was saying, grinning with twitching mouse ears. And his grin widened when he saw Rika nod to Lily. Aw, yeah! She was on bored! Operation BeatupBernkasteltToSaveBismarck'sKidsAndHopefullyGetSomeSnacksAfter was a go! Or, BBTSBKAHGSSA for short!

He blinked when Rika sat back down and sighed, giving Samson a watchful eye as he walked out with Lily before wiggling himself down one of the legs of the table, he made his way over to Rika and patted her thigh. "Rika, Rika, Rika. You're forgetting one thing!" He jabbed two thumbs toward himself. "Ya got me, this time! And Chuck, And Lily, And Bismarck, And Maria, And Eliza...or Eleanor..Or was it Elena?" William narrowed his eyes, trying to remember the other cat girl's name, but in the end just gave up and shrugged. "Anyways, you not only got grimm reaper on your side, but four members of Lyria harp and your super-smart and incredibly handsome main squeeze by your side!" He consoled, winking. Now, for his surprise! "Now, pick me up and take me to the basement, Rika! I got a way to win this thing!"

  • Lily stared calmly at Samson, staring boredly at her nails as he spoke of how the world was going to end. Jeez, what a drama queen, announcing that the end was nigh. "That's your problem," she said quietly, watching as he went on with his shameless display of his superpowers, even tossing a flame to the ground and shouting. Guess it was time for her to do her part by grabbing him by the collar and shoving him roughly against the wall, staring at him for a while. ".....And guess who'll be cleaning up His Royal Highdund's mess? Just guess!" she half-shouted, ramming his body against the wall once again. It was clear that Lily was pissed with Samson, the little shit who thought that he had a damn throne.

"You have no throne, buddy. No subjects bowing to you, no servants, no point in even being in this Hell City," she sneered. "Understand this from the point of view of someone who's sent the damn souls of clowns like you to the Underworld for seven fucking years, you are insignificant. Just another Phil who's pulled a dick move. Just another person. Just another idiot." The Grim Reaper let go of Samson, a small smile on her face. "The Underworlds are rumored to be the descendants of Charon, the guy who ferried souls to the Underworld. My family immigrated from Italy to New York City in the 1920s and settled down in one of the upper-class neighborhoods of the Bronx. Every member of the family has been trained to send dead souls to the Underworld, our namesake. If the world's gonna end, fine by me. I've been trained not to give a shit, just like those before me. Any questions?

  • After the phone call with William, it took Chuck a bit to get dressed in his combat attire. But finally, he was ready. He looked at himself in a mirror, giving his black and red outfit a look. A looked more appropriate on a gruff and tough assassin who stuck to the shadows rather than a short and meek Eighteen year old who was about to run into a graveyard. He gave his mirror self a long look, noticing the bruise he had gotten from the Gangster's punch. And he was about to go against Bernkastel and possibly her whole army of cronies...maybe this wasn't-

His eyes widened when he heard his phone vibrate on the desk. Going over to it, he picked up the phone and squinted his eyes at the number, pushing up his glasses as he did so. What...Who was this? Eventually, curiosity got the better of him, and he answered...he really wish he hadn't. His eyes twitched as he heard the voice of Bernkastel ring in his ear, and he clenched his fists as he listened to her words. She...She still thought this was some kinda game didn't she? Narrowing his eyes at the annoying cackles she called laughter, he closed his eyes and took a big breath. Right.

He wasn't just going to Bring himself and Bismarck. He was going to Bring Himself, Bismarck, and anyone else they could find. And when he got there, he was going to beat the living shit out of her.

Walking into the front store, he cringed at the mess. Soldiers, some alive, some dead, and some in between, were all over the floor. Water was everywhere. He frowned when he saw the bus still wedged in the wall. With a sigh, he turned to Maria and Bismarck. "...I-Is there anyone el-else I-I sh-should call before we g-go?"

Maria Jones
Maria just sighed and nodded silently in response to his words. It really had been too many times, far too many that any of them had gotten injured not just him. Though he certainly took the brunt of any injuries that were ever incurred by far. How he managed to do it was beyond her. He stayed so strong throughout everything, even now with his son being kidnapped by that crazy bitch. Just how he was holding up was a mystery. Even worse….why was she the one wallowing in sorrow and doubt? She was always the strong one, that was how their relationship worked. No matter what she always stayed strong…didn’t she?

No…in the end it was always Bismarck there to pull them out of the fire. As soon as the bullet was removed, which was rather quickly, she pulled him into a hug. No matter how many times she told herself she would try to pay him back for all the things he’s done for her and her sister, she never did. In the end it was he that always stayed strong and got them through everything. Sure, she protected him all the time. Though that didn’t matter to much. If you wrote down a list Bismarck sacrificed his own wellbeing for theirs far more than she ever had. As it stood now there was a very slim chance she even caused things to get this bad. Perhaps if she had of tried to reason with the man this wouldn’t of happened.

Though, this was also Hell City. She didn’t entirely trust anyone to be reasonable whatsoever here. She didn’t say nothing as she hugged him, simply looking up to Chuck. “Can you call Sierra and Alisa?” She asked. “Maybe Shiro to..” She said. “We need all the help we can get.”

Shiro Fujima
Shiro ignored the woman glaring daggers at her. She’d deal with her next if she had to! Oddly, people didn’t scare her nearly as much as the pack of dogs that had decided to chase her down. Likely smelling the cookies she had in her bag…or maybe they just had something against an albino girl walking down the street in the middle of the day? Either way, here they were, and they’d probably attack the rest too. She was surprised at the amount of strength the seemingly younger girl had, though sort of just sat off to the side trembling when she was shoved off anyways. She watched passively as the evil doggies were slaughtered relentlessly.

She didn’t actually mind. Sure, she liked dogs, but not ones like those no, those were mean evil dogs that wanted a Shiro snack not cuddles. She inched back just a little bit when Bernkastel demanded that she leave and shook her head slowly. “Nuh-uh. There could be more dogs out there!” She replied. “Shiro is safer in here.” She decided, nodding slightly. At the moment, the guns and potentially the scythe were the only things that looked threatening to her. Mostly the scythe seeing as it could cut her limbs off, or her head off. Even still it just didn’t click for the girl the kind of situation she as in right now.

She did however find Masakazu’s reaction fairly amusing simply because he seemed to be more of the strong body guard type than someone to hide from dogs. Then again, she could literally punch a hole straight through concrete and not even blink and she was running from them…so there’s that.
