Here is our Character Thread. I'll reprint the changes to the book creation rules here.

So, for this run, I am letting everyone start out at Essence 3, and for Attributes, instead of the normal 8-6-4 points you normally get, I'm giving everyone 9-7-5. As per the Errata, you get 18 Bonus Points instead of 15, and the final change is that you get 10 Charms, 5 Dedicated and 5 General, instead of the 4 and 4 that the Alchie book says. All of which can be increased as normal with your Bonus Points.

A House Rule that Sherwood has suggested that I like is that if someone picks up the Man-Machine Weaving Protocols, you get a free Spell with the Charm slot.

Since I am new to this, I am going to be very hesitant to allow any custom Charms.
 
New Keyword: HARDY
Each purchase of a Charm bearing this keyword works like a purchase of the Exalt's native version of Ox-Body Technique. This entirely replaces the Charm by that name; players lose those Charms and spend the refunded XP on Charms with the Hardy keyword.

No character may benefit from the Hardy keyword more times than their Essence score. An Essence 5 character with seven Hardy-keyworded Charms only benefits from the equivalent of five purchases of Ox-Body Technique until he raises his Essence score.

No character may recieve the benefits of the Hardy keyword from any Charm not considered natural to his kind. Eclipses cannot learn Bruise-Relief Method and thus gain extra health levels, nor can a Malefactor grant extra health levels when bestowing Transcendent Desert Creature upon her followers as a mutation effect.

Background:
Geniuses of all five Sodalities. Master generals. Well-read adjudicators. Compelling lectors. Golden Degree Developer's past lives have never been anything less than the best, and always of the Tripartite. He would have expected no less.

One of the younger Alchemicals of Kamak, Developer is still no fledgling like the newly created Thousand Gears. His five years of existence have been productive. While decanted as for crafting objectives - accomplishments including improving resource extraction systems used by the Conducters and power efficiency with newer Luminor lamp models - Developer took advantage of the competence focusing of various Augmentations to boost his abilities as a diplomatic speaker, and more than respectable combat capabilities.

Much of this facility comes from an insight into the Great Maker's Design that is rare if not unparalleled in its depth. This same understanding has made him increasingly concerned by the extent of Autochthon's compromised systems, and fueled his support for the work to breach the Seal of Eight Divinities.

Having devoured the writings of the Tome of the Great Maker, Developer is quite certain that the resources of Creation and the immense capabilities of the Solar Exalted (with characteristics similar to the Orichalcum Caste) can bring the relief Kamak and the titan require.

That he might see their technologies and grand creations is a given bonus.

Silent Wheeling Crescent (Shortened to Crescent)

Concept: Master Spy
Caste: Moonsilver
Anima Power: By reflexively spending five motes, a Protean may suffuse her being with the flowing grace of quicksilver. In this state, her quickened senses perceive the world moving in slow motion through a faint silver tint. In contrast, she perceives her own accelerated body moving at its normal pace. Observers note only the preternatural flexibility and deftness of the Exalt’s movements, provided they have a chance to notice anything. This power reduces by one (to a minimum of 3) the Speed of all of the Mirrorblade’s actions that have a Speed greater than 3. It activates automatically at no cost whenever the Alchemical’s anima reaches the 11+ level of display.
Anima Banner: A ring of spinning wheels alternating between bright moon, and total darkness

Background: While Alchemicals surpass mortals in terms of their abilities, even they cannot be everywhere at once, and sometimes mortals are needed to fulfill some tasks.
Among such tasks is keeping watch on neighboring nations, rooting out spies, and even taking out some threats. The one known as Silent Wheeling Crescent, used to perform such tasks across multiple incarnations, until Kamak decided they needed an Alchemical to fulfill such tasks, especially if they intend to investigate Creation, as they have been cut from it for millennia, and have no idea what to expect when they emerge, if they succeed on breaking the Seals.

Name: Gleaming Marionette of Relentless Progress (shortened to Marionette; familiar name ‘Marion’)

Concept: Brilliant tactician

Caste: Starmetal

Motivation: devise a Stratagem for uniting the Octet in virtuous service of Autochthon (may shit to an idea of using Creation’s resources to save Autochthonia following a breach in the Seal, though that would be after introducing proper Autochthonian orthodoxy to Creation’s chaotic and sinful societies.)

Appearance:
Gleaming Marionette is five feet of metal, crystal, and clay in the shape of a young woman, perhaps in her early twenties. Though its light gray color betrays it, her clay ‘skin’ molds itself into athletic yet distinctly feminine curves as it covers subdermal musculature. Reinforcements of a white-jade alloy, filigreed with swirls of starmetal, run along her ribs and down her spine. The Alchemical has an inverted bob of silver hair which comes just below her chin, which always seems to be perfectly positioned. Marionette’s eyes have a sclera of white quartz, with an iris of blue jade ringed by starmetal. Her gaze is always calculating, but still warms when turned upon the mortals she works with.

Except when in the heart of a patropolis or in the company of close friends (and sometimes even then), Gleaming Marionette of Relentless Progress can be expected to be wearing Compassion’s Bulwark, a suit of superheavy plate forged with starmetal. Because of that magical material’s significant rarity, the Bulwark is far from a traditional set of armor: plates of a platinum-titanium alloy support a network of crystal pylons (adamant and otherwise) that is connected by a web of starmetal conduits, producing a combination field of probability and force that deflects and absorbs all but the strongest attacks. This field (active only when worn) is invisible when perfectly still, but motion causes it to phase into visibility, akin to a prismatic heat mirage; the greater the kinetic force, either from speed of movement or force absorbed, the greater the visible effect.

(4th Dexterity Augmentation) Replacing her major limb joints, Marionette has hollow crystal spheres which house a small gem of softly-glowing adamant ensconced in a net of clockwork gears forged from a starmetal-orichalcum alloy. This artifice has a resonant interface with the moonsilver cap placed the opposing bones, allowing the limb to freely swivel around the crystal orb on a nearly-frictionless liquid surface.

Personality:
Marionette is thoughtful, but decisive. Even when standing still, she looks ready to spring into action at any moment, as if she is only momentarily stilled, rather than seeming truly relaxed. Her mindset is much the same, perfectly willing to change direction should new information arise, but determined to be doing something. A holdover from several prominent lives as Estasians, the Starmetal is very focused on the Four Virtues, though she believes that Nation’s preference for Valor and Conviction (at the expense of Temperance and Compassion) to be a fundamental flaw resulting from Luminous Exarch’s Philosophy of Unity. She believes that Estasia has the greatest ambition of any of the Eight (with the possibly exception of Yugash and its Project Razor dreams), but that it is currently flawed in its methodologies for instigating that ambition. Like the cogs of the Great Maker, Marionette believes the Octet should work closely and cooperatively, turning all their combined resources (and distinct specialties) to the common goal of serving and saving Autochthon. Having been made one of the Champions of another nation (and one with a far from friendly history with Estasia, if any do), Gleaming Marionette is wary of an attack by the Militat on any Nation that should succeed in breaching the Seal of Eight Divinities.

In social situations, she initially appears to be reserved, waiting until she has a fair read on the other individuals and/or the situation at hand, before enacting a plan. Sometimes, Gleaming Marionette even notifies others of the plan before she implements it. This has given her a reputation for rashness among other, older Exalted and the Tripartite but [so far] her ideas have yet to explode in her face. She respects other Champions and, indeed, things they are the key to shepherding (but not leading) the Eight Nations, but (no doubt as a partial consequence to the reason behind her creation) is not always sure that the other Exalts can be trusted to take the correct actions.


Background:
He was a scholar-monk in Jarish, who began to study the workings of the Great Maker as a means of establishing new Supernatural Martial Arts, so that His human devotees could come closer to enlightened understanding.

She was a Militat commander who discreetly manipulated the Tripartite, to ensure her caste could survive and adapt to the changing situation, political and environmental.

She was an analyst-priest who foresaw the tectonic movements of her Nation away from bountiful resources, and manipulated the administrators into paranoia instead of decadence, causing them to greatly expand the stockpiles that would save lives in the famine times to come.

He was an administrator in Nurad who called for widespread renovation of Lumpen living quarters. He died for his insistence, but the investigation turned up evidence of corroded girders that could have crippled the patropolis.

He was a Yugashi Luminor who died at the end of the Elemental War, but not before spearheading a secret project on how to turn Sovan soulgems into a weapon…

A newly constructed member of Kamak’s Champions, Gleaming Marionette created to analyze the Nation’s own weaknesses and be an unorthodox strategos when/if war was necessary should Seal of Eight Divinities be broken. She has been fast-tracked into combat readiness and put in charge of a platoon of Populat volunteers (dubbed “Glass Razor”). Given considerable autonomy in preparing Kamak for the potential of warfare, Marionette has striven to fulfill her purpose no matter the socio-political uproar it might cause. She had been assigned to ascertain a method of ensuring that Project Razor serves the needs of Kamak, whether it is Yugash, her home nation, or another that succeeds first. No matter the nation in question, Marionette must knows she must prepare for a military move by Estasia. Unhappy with either the current political situation or the decline in resources available, Gleaming Marionette nevertheless took up her mission with fervent dedication, determined to find a way to aid her homeland without harming the Octet or Autochthon himself. So far, she has lead several successful excursions out into the Reaches to harry or outright eliminate the forces of the Void.
