Is there still going to be post count thresholds on certain forum functionality?

No.

The only reason that was done for HTML was because it was in beta and how dangerous it was. For HPs, we don't know. HP's requirements and systems are changing all the damn, its been our passion project for years.

The BBCodes that were created for the pre-this RPN would all return right? o:

yes :O

I'm looking forward to having the old site style back, the more I think about it - especially the off-white background and post boxes, and the dark gray default text. That was the best, it was so easy on my eyes and felt like reading a paper.

That was RpN Default v4 ? 5?

I lost my notes on that.

I'm already working on the next setup. Think I'm just going to buy something more popular and tweak it a bit. Though I'm completely motivated to do something completely in google material design but there is already a popular style I can alter thats based on that.

Hey, my web design teacher always said: "Don't reinvent the wheel. Licenses exist for a reason, if you find a theme you like just buy it and tweak it." :3

Quick question, and I know it's probably been answered before, but will my Roleplay change at all?

By that, I mean will the overall structure be changed? As I enjoy it set up the way I do now, with the RP image and background, the images beside the threads and the overall look and feel of the HP system. I just hope I'm not forced to be put back into the tab system we had prior to the switch.

Also, will post macros come back? I've missed them xD

As it is right now, probably there will be some changes.  We aren't sure if the main page (with text and image and all) will be able to stay the same.  The threads and all inside it should stay as-is, though, we won't be pulling HPs apart and putting all their threads into different places.

I miss post macros too!

The only thing really effected for a while will be this area:

As Kaerri said.

Actual RP content is fine and will stay organized :)!

Ah, I see. I could probably deal with retranslating all of my HTML back to BB Code again, it's just I got pretty anal about how the RP looked, to the point where I wanted to have the threads organised by ease of access.

I liked how easy it was to put BB-Code-heavy posts into the reply box without having to copy and paste them from somewhere xD

Yay :D! I don't necessarily mind about the background and image, it just made the RP feel a bit more 'official'. I was mainly worried about the organisation I'd made, so I feel at ease now. Although if you guys are planning to allow us to add the images again, I wouldn't complain :^)

Oh, one more question I forgot about;

Will the moderator and title system remain in place for the HPs? It's a lot easier on me if the members of the RP are able to see who are moderators, as opposed to being asked who was able to accept characters. as well as them being able to hide/delete posts that break the RP's and site's rules while I'm offline.

...Not that I'm not glad to be back to bbc and have the cool stuff the site used to have with the bbc coding... but...

What worries me is the whole "newer HTML posts may break"...

Like, will they become completely unreadable?

Should I save the text-only versions of my html posts in my HP to save them from being an unholy coding mess once the "reverse" update starts? D//x

I apologize if this has already been explained/ asked. I am dim and forever late to the party... s:

If you have text-only versions, I'd say don't remove them.  Simpler coding like text colors and such shouldn't be too bad, but some of the more complex stuff could get pretty messy.

I can't wait to make nice BBcode posts again, a bit rusty so I'll have to practice lol.

Yeah! BBCode is back!

...

Shit now I have to remember how to BBCode xD

More importantly: When will the update occur do you think? Just an approximate date.

I'm happy with the possibility of BBCode coming back and all -- I love BBCode, and was quite proficient at it a while back... But the fact that Source Editing is no longer available is exceedingly worrying, not to mention upsetting. I had thought that we'd be able to use HTML coding up until the last minute for the transfer... Not the day of the announcement notifying us of the future change. It's kind of surprising that the only notes regarding the loss of Source were in the last page.

Without the ability to manipulate the Source, I can no longer invent colorful CSs and/or Posts; I can only copy my pre-existing codes via the manual click-and-drag. Using such a process makes certain templates (most notably ones with fully functional HTML/CSS Tab and Accordions) become dysfunctional. I'm sure a lot of people might scoff at the thought of being upset over something so purely cosmetic, but I take great pride in my posts, and having them no longer work and  -- most notably in my case -- not be able to fix them despite knowing how is quite infuriating, you know?

As it stands, this is like the original transition happening all over again... But nothing but editing capabilities have been changed -- or, more accurately, stripped away. I can't even learn a new method to beautify things as it stands, and (from the sounds of things combined with my own pessimism) I'm thinking it'll remain that way until we go back to BBCode... And that thought kind of sucks.

What is the date that BBCode will come back, exactly?

If no solid date exists, is it possible to bring Source Editing back for a while longer?

There's nothing wrong in what you feel in regards to the "source editing" being turned off/removed. I am unfamiliar with how things have changed in terms of formatting since the switch over, but I do understand having something that is equally as important as roleplaying itself. I wonder if compromise is possible in that regard unless the "cons outweigh the pros" in keeping it on until the total site shutdown in order to change programs. I at least wanted to say that you are not alone in this department in terms of aesthetics in posts/roleplays.

Thanks for being frank with us @The Dark Wizard. I look forward to seeing another switch. I won't wish you buglessness (that would be foolish and futile), but I will pray for minimal and easy to splat bugs.

Does the shift back to xF mean that we'll be getting the site dice roller back? Or was that one of the third party add-ons that initially caused issues with the platform in the first place?
