Chitchat Chat for hockey fans

It likely won’t ever happen and I don’t expect to see it either. But while it could become quite annoying at times, I think it would be pretty cool if NHL games introduced a element of BAP that’s a realistic aspect of draft day for any league and that’s draft day trades… Like trading up or down for picks. (Since I don’t believe NHL has draft day trades of draft rights to players like the NBA does or least I can’t recall a time where that has happened.) Regardless, it could be cool and throw in a wildcard element to the process.

All this kind of thinking occurred while returning to the BAP process in 22 since I don’t feel like playing my goalie veteran BAP.

I totally agree, although you and I both know EA would NEVER lol.

True and agreed 100%. Lol. I guess it kind of has a random/buggy version of that, kinda, where teams pop up within the interview process that are not realistically picking in that range and/or appear to take you with a pick they didn’t have in RL or even game order of draft picks. But that feels more like a glitchy thing then a actual input by EA. Haha

A more organized and real feeling version of that though would be cool.

Yea but it's still stupid lol. I wish they put more effort into BAP and the single player game modes instead of the money making gambling game modes like HUT. : /

Agreed. Lol. Also agreed with the investment of time and effort by EA with different game modes. HUT doesn’t need nearly as much as they are getting. Offline and single player modes could definitely use more time and effort.

Exactly. Plus it's a small portion of the fan base that actually plays that mode.

Exactly lol.

I'd hate to be a football/Madden fan rn.
The past few years I’ve mostly cut out Madden & MLB the Show cause they never really change anything but updating rosters and maybe logos/names in situations where those would come up. Gameplay, game modes usually have stayed the exact same imo for so many years in a row. Even the Home Screen & etc was the same style for some time til recent years. But yeah, Madden lost its touch imo and got really lazy. They were late to the mycareer/BAP game mode and while the Madden version of it, isn’t bad, it’s not as good as others either imo.

MLB the Show I don't play too much although I should since believe it or not, I'm actually a big baseball fan.

In fact I just finished watching a horrendous Mets loss to the Nationals. :/

I kinda cut MLB the Show some slack, cause I’m not sure their company that makes the game… does anything else outside of mlb the show, so budget wise I kinda cut them slack. Although at the same time maybe I shouldn’t haha. Cause all the time they should have for MLB games.

But I have played MLB 22 the Show off and on this year. Caught it during the free game option with the pass on Xbox. It’s not bad this year. But yeah haha, I can’t recall if we’ve talked baseball or not, but I was thinking you were mostly hockey if not only hockey sports wise. (Though plenty of room for being wrong on my part)

Oh ouch, really? Lately haven’t seen much baseball since working overnights. Watched a bit of premier league earlier before hitting the sticks with BAP. That’s rough though, did the Mets rest some key players?

Ah I see.

I don't play it too much because I like NHL better and I prefer to play REAL baseball irl to the video game version, but my friends LOVE MLB The Show 22.

And yea I haven't been watching too much of my Mets because I've been busy, but I'm disappointed because we are one of the hottest IF NOT THE HOTTEST teams in baseball this year.

The 2022 Mets have been AMAZING and so fun to watch. The Nationals are like last in the division, we should have easily beat them like we usually do, especially at home at Citi Field...

But other than the past few Nationals v Mets games, I can't complain about my Mets. They're so amazing and I love watching them. Such an amazingly talented and dominant baseball club.

Understandable.

Yeah the Mets this season have looked pretty good. Not too surprising imo all things considered and Buck on the bench as manager. I’ve got a friend from bowling that’s from New York and a Mets fan, he’s been pretty happy with the team this year.

Nationals with their team and trading Soto, tough loss for the Mets. But 162 games, bound to lose a few tough ones to teams that shouldn’t be winning those games ordinarily.

But yeah understandable there. Mets have been good.

For sure they have. And yea, VERY good year to be a Mets fan.

Yea the Soto trade from Washington to San Diego was wild. But yea this is one of those tough losses, like the Islanders loss to the Buffalo Sabres. We shouldn't have let the game get away from us like that. Trevor Williams didn't pitch too well and Fedde for the Nats was admittedly on fire today, we couldn't do anything about him.

But yea all in all the Mets have been excellent.

Idk if we have discussed but do you watch baseball? If so, who do you cheer for being from Utah? Being from NY and an Isles fan, the Mets are an obvious pick. Plus I have family that are Mets fans.

Yeah for sure.

It was and kinda surprised how stacked the Padres have become in a short time these past few years. Kinda nice though cause I can’t stand the Dodgers haha and want somebody to knock them out in the Division besides playoffs. (Though I might grow tired of SD over time just cause they will remain a threat for my team) But yeah, that’s true, pretty good comp there imo. Also understandable from the player performances stand point as well.

They have been. The new owner definitely changed the game for the Mets.

I can’t recall if we have or not tbh. I do watch baseball though and it used to be one of the many sports I played on leagues growing up as well. Team wise, since most of my childhood was local TV only, some sports like (Baseball & Hockey) becomes pretty limited on what teams you see play on Fox & NBC pending the sport during the influencing years. So for me, despite my favorite player as kid being Hideki Matsui. I’m a Brewers fan. I’ll cheer for the Yankees as a AL team/secondary option though when my Brewers aren’t affected by it. (Another reason to hate Boston teams lol. Also made for plenty of back and forths with my step-grandpa who was a massive Boston Red Sox fan & Boston teams in general) But ah well I digress. But that’s understandable there being from NY and the Isles tie there. Also makes sense family wise as well. Being from Utah, we’ve got a pretty wide mix aside from neighboring state teams, We’ve either got a heavy dose of big brand teams (L.A, SF, NY, Boston, Dallas) or neighboring state teams like (Colorado, Arizona & now Vegas if they are winning enough for the bandwagon jumpers haha) though we’ve a healthy dose of Packers fans too. (Myself Included)

Overall my Brewers haven’t been bad by any means this season. Fun to watch at times and frustrating as well haha. Only downside is we have fallen further back of the Cards in the division after a nice run at the top.

Agreed! Boo Dodgers I can’t stand them. Good for SD getting stacked, Padres take a lotta Ls lol.

Definitely. Happy with the changes tho.

Ah I see. Brewers are a solid first choice. As a Mets fan tho, the Yankees part disappoints me lol. Jk, but the Yankees are probably one of my most hated teams in the league.

Also yea, that big Red Sox vs Yankees rivalry.

Although I despise the Yankees and their fan base (funny too because all my friends are Yankees fans), I have 0 problem with the Brewers. A cool team with a sick ass uniform and logo tbh.

Ah that’s interesting to hear the different types of fans there. I assume they’re dominated by the D backs and Dodgers (also Yankees because it’s a recognizable name and logo and lots of people bandwagon it).

True. They’ve only been ok this season. Mediocre at best tbh.

Yeah it’s good to see for San Diego tbh. They took a lot over the years and honestly they’ve got a pretty nice park at Petco as well. But yeah, Dodgers fans and that team is extremely annoying to me. Astros would be pretty high up there as well and right there with Boston and L.A Dodgers for me. especially since the Astros cheating allowance a few years back. And their response to it all. Sickening imo.

Understandable.

Also understandable lol. If not the Hideki Matsui influence and many games seen play on fox during the childhood years, I don’t think I’d be a Yankees fan either tbh. But yeah Brewers are awesome can’t disagree obviously haha.

Yep for sure. Crazy how many times big name players from both sides go to the other, right after several years on the opposite side of the rivalry.

Yeah understandable haha. Yankees have that kind of effect. Steinbrenner likely never helped that much either in changing the image Yankees have with other fan bases.

Agreed! I always loved the logo and uniforms of the team. Also always loved Miller Park (Not a fan of the current park name. But changing it in the first place doesn’t help either haha) And been a big fan of Bob Ueker.

Surprisingly D-Backs are in the minority among baseball fans I’ve seen over the years. Rockies might hold a slight advantage out of the neighboring state team fans. Colorado in general makes up a fair portion of team fans across different leagues here. (Mostly Broncos & Av’s but still) Dodgers, Yankees and Red Sox for sure though. A few Giants here & there baseball wise. But definitely dominated by those 3. D-Backs as a kid, seems like there were a lot more fans around though. But not as much now seemingly. (Least not publicly with how they’ve had it rough in recent years) Also true about the Yankees brand haha.

We do have a pretty strong fanbase for Real Salt lake though and the Women’s league team (Royals I want to say was the name) when we had one and will again when they return through rumored expansion. Not much division in the state when it comes to soccer.

True. They’ve only been ok this season. Mediocre at best tbh.
Yeah we’ve fallen off a bit, so mediocre as of late sure. The lack of offense from a power standpoint and overall low team batting average is showing more and more. (Tellez & Yelich make up the majority of our power and offense) Pitching wise, we’ve got a few great pitchers and the rest is decent to pretty inconsistent for the long term goals this season. Til those improvements happen, we won’t be living up to the early season sleeper expectations we had coming into the year and were playing like at one point. (Sleeper pick playoffs run wise)

Yea no problems with San Diego for me.

Those Dodgers fans and Astros fans suck tho but Braves, Yankees and Phillies fans will always take the case for worst damn fanbases in the league.

Oh that’s interesting. Kinda cool to see for that woman’s team.

Yea kind of unfortunate how the Brewers fell off but you didn’t fall off as hard as the Nationals did after their 2019 WS win.
