Plot: Your homeland of Izarya is wartorn and on the verge of total destruction. As a last ditch attempt, mages from all over the nation attempt to try to summon great machinations to fight the enemy. The only problem is that you have been deceived and betrayed. The people who you called friends and family have betrayed you and have chosen you as the sacrifice for the summoning. As they plunge the knife into you, you hear a voice asking you if you don't want to die. You don't want to die. The voice grants you your wish and says you will be reborn as a demon and can soon exact your vengeance alongside others like you. You grow cold before waking up in a meadow in another world. You feel horns on your head and you look into water and see you have changed. This land where you have been reborn, it belongs to you and those who have been reborn there with you. It is a new domain in the demon world. You have to build it up. A summoned portal allows you to travel to the human world where you need to harvest souls and people for food and resources. And while you are at it, you can get your revenge.

Basically, you were reborn as a demon and alongside others you have to build your new home and grow your domain. Souls or rather their energy are valuable in the demon world. Other domains will send you resources and workers in exchange for souls. You must also feed, at the very least meat, better human meat. If you don't necessarily want to kill humans, you need at least to harvest some of their blood. While the other types of demons from the other domains only eat humans as a delicacy, eat demon types base food is the creature they are based off of. Pig demons eat pigs. Goat demons eat goats. And so on.

Demons: Demons all have horns but there are different types of demons. Most demons are based off of animals. The reborn humans have become demons that look mostly human, just taller, sharp teeth, horns and normal to pointed ears. Demons are also a lot stronger than normal humans. At least the demons who are of similar size to humans are. Demons can have an alternate grotesque form, called a horror form. But not every demon has one or wants to use it.

Setting: While the original world was more of a European culture with high fantasy. The new demon world is more similar to Japanese culture. You can wield magic. At first just one type until you learn more. Magic types are elemental (wind/air, water/ice, fire, earth, dark, light/healing, lightning), blood magic, summoning, buff/enhancement magic, beast magic, necromancy/death magic. You get to have a trademark weapon (no guns).

Demon World: The demon world is another plane. A different realm altogether. It's borders aren't known, but it seems the demon world is governed by a demon god. The demon god's appearance isn't known, but every demon knows their voice. The demon world is made up of many domains, each to a different demon type. The domains neighboring the human-demon domain are the pig demon domain, the bear demon domain and the elf demon domain.

Human-demon domain: The human-demon domain is new and features green meadows, clear waters and a large volcano at it's center. At the base of the volcano is a portal to the human world. It can only be activated by the human-demons or the demon god themself. The domain is large and plentiful and the environment is a lot like how it is in the human realm. At day the sky has a purple hue, at night two moons come out, one is red, the other is orange. So far, there are no building in the domain because they still need to be built. However demons from the neighboring realms are willing to help build a basic settlement for the new demons.

Izar, Izarya

3rd of the 7th month, year 1281

Izarya had been involved in war for the past two years with the situation growing more desperate by the week. A major army found itself just a day away from the capital of Izar and had met an opposing force on the way.

Akazulia Shikurea of Izarya, 3rd princess of the Izaryan royal family

From her balcony in the palace, Akazulia could see a battle raging in the distance far beyond the city walls. Smoke billowed from the battlefield and flashes of fire from the battle mages were even visible from so far away. Akazulia was worried. Her family seemed to be tense lately and the workers in the palace were not only concerned for their safety, but also of that of relatives. The war was fierce and Izarya had been losing one battle after another. The nation seemed to be backed into a corner.

Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. "Y...yes?" Akazulia answered. It was her mother, who opened the door and said: "Akazulia, the family is meeting downstairs in the main hall. We have a surprise for you." Something felt very off for Akazulia as her mother never come to get her in person but usually sent a maid to get her. Also her mother had a smile on her face that seemed insincere and her eyes had an emptiness to them. However, Akazulia shrugged it off and nodded. Maybe her family wanted to try to warm up to her in these times. Maybe they were going to give her a gift to try to make up for being so distant most of her life. She then followed her mother down the hall.

Akazulia noticed that there was no one in the halls, only them. Usually there would be maids and workers passing them along the way. But no one passed them. "Where is everyone?" Akazulia asked, yet her mother kept silent. Weird. Maybe they were all in the main hall. Maybe it was a surprise banquet for her. She felt excited. They walked down the stairs and soon arrived the main hall. The only ones there were her father, her four brothers, her two sisters and a number of mages. A magical circle had been drawn on the ground.

"Akazulia. We have been in this war long enough and we, as the rulers of Izarya, have to protect our nation from foreign aggressors." The king said. Akazulia nodded. Then the king continued: "As part of the royal family, you need to be strong and it has been determined that you are most suited to be a hero to the nation." Akazulia became confused. Did they want to put her into military service or marry her off to a foreign prince in exchange for aid? "Heroes have to sacrifice themselves for the wellbeing of their communities. With your help, we can summon a great warrior to fend off our enemies."

"Put this on!" The queen said as she shoved clothes into Akazulia's hands. Akazulia was getting scared. This felt all very wrong. The outfit she was giving looked like bathing attire. She felt a pressure to obey and put it on. As soon as she came forward from the curtain, one of her brothers grabbed a hold of her while another began binding her hands behind her back and her feet together. "What is the meaning of this?!" Akazulia screamed. Her father spoke up: "As I said, heroes make sacrifices and you will be making that sacrifice today." Akazulia's eyes grew wide as she began to understand the gravity of the situation. They never intended to have her go out and fight or so, but they intend to sacrifice her for some ritual. "How can you do this?! I thought we were family!" She yelled. Tears started flowing down her cheeks as they attached the rope above and began to pull her up. "Please! I am begging you!" She cried. However they all just stood there and watched, no one showing any empathy. She then tried to call for help. Maybe the workers could save her. "Help! Someone heeelp!" She screamed.

The king smirked and said: "They can't come save you. They have been told to stay put in their quarters." Akazulia's heart dropped. Her family had betrayed her and intended to kill her for some ritual and there was no hope of salvation. With the realization, she felt a sensation of deep disdain for her family. However before she could open her mouth and say something, a blade struck the back of her neck as she hung upside down by her feet. Her head hit the ground and everything started to fade away.

Suddenly, she heard a voice. The voice seemed otherworldly, yet still warm. The voice asked: "Do you want to live?" Akazulia was dying and knew so, but she didn't want to go out like this. So a simple yes came to her mind. "You would be reborn as a demon. You would leave your humanity behind. Are you willing to make that sacrifice?" The voice asked. Again with these sacrifices. She thought. Screw it. What do I have to lose at this point? Yes.

"Excellent." The voice said as Akazulia's mind faded to white.

In an unknown meadow

As she opened her eyes, she witnessed a purple sky above her and felt grass beneath her. She shot up, asking herself if she had been dreaming. The woman put her hand on her next. Her head was still attached to her body. She felt something on her head and suddenly felt a pair of horns. "Wha...?" She mumbled. The woman decided to see what else was different. She felt her teeth and they were sharp. A red kimono was her clothing here and she wore two toed socks with some kind of sandals.

"Wait, what was my name? A.... Aka...?" She asked herself. Then it came back to her mind. "Akazulia Shikurea of Izarya." As she said it, it left a bad taste in her mouth. She recalled everything that happened. Everything from the treason her family committed to her apparent death. She didn't want her old name anymore. It contained the family name of traitors and a name given to her by people who didn't love her. But what should she call herself now?

"Kokoru---" She heard the otherworldly voice whisper. The newly reborn demon woman responded with a "What?" but after giving it thought, the name sounded decent and it seemed to be offered by the disembodied voice of whatever entity had her reborn and apparently cared more about her than her past family. "Fine I will go by Kokoru and I will carry it with honor for as long as my crimson blood flows through my heart!" Kokoru said.

What she said gave her an idea. She would call her new lineage Crimsonheart.

After setting her identity straight, she looked around. The land was vast and the meadow was beautiful and untouched. It seemed there were others like her around her in the same meadow, who had yet to wake up.

Higamiya Tosashi, student of the Higashi-school

Being located far from the border meant that it took a while for the enemy soldiers to reach the Higashi-school but they did inevitably reach. Thanks to the skills of some of the masters and all students of the last two ranks they managed to put up a decent fight until the enemy changed tactics and went with a siege. The small amount of available food, water and other supplies led to the creation of the tournament, meant to decrease the number of mouths and make the least promising students at least indirectly useful.

17th of the 4th month, year 1282

Tosashi of course wasn't happy with the result but he wasn't surprised by it either he had been the oldest student of his rank for quite a while now and knew his fate the moment the rules were explained. He had considered running away but didn't see much point as he probably would die anyway. He mostly felt guilty for the other eight students all of whom were younger then him, which was why he arranged to go last, that way the others would hopefully have less time to worry.

At the stroke of dawn Tosashi and the others were brought out to the front of the school where the elder would kill each sacrifice personally, not wanting anyone else to have to carry that burden. The youngest was first. Tosashi's turn came both way too soon and way too late, but like every one else he walked up to the elder seemingly without hesitation.

In one single stroke his head was cut off from his shoulders before Tosashi even had time to realize he was within reach. "Do you want to live? You would be reborn as a demon. You would leave your humanity behind. Are you willing to make that sacrifice?" Despite thinking that that voice had to be a hallucination Tosashi was surprised at how willing he was to accept. "Yes! Yes, I want to live."

In an unknown meadow

The next thing Tosashi knew was that he could feel himself lying on grass and that he heard the voice of some girl. He was scared to open his eyes because he was sure he would see the body of the elder loam over him before everything would fade away. The sensations didn't disappear though and after thirty seconds had passed he started to believe that this might be real after all. After taking a deep breath to calm his nerves and because he could he forced himself to open his eyes. Seeing the purple sky nearly convinced he was dreaming after all and he wondered how he could be stupid enough to think otherwise until he realized that he was breathing. "Is this real? Am I alive after all?"

Manaka tighten the rag around herself as she felts a chilling sensation traveled through the cell wall. The dungeon was never comfortable but for some reason today feels different. It's like the atmosphere changed, as if the world itself was preparing for a significant shift... Ahh. Who did she tried to deceive anyway. Her blood pressure was getting even lower and she simply becoming more vulnerable to cold, though she was surprised it took her more than three months to weaken her body to this level. Counting all the seconds passed might actually really helped her survive?

8.678.583

8.678.584

8.678.585

8.678.586

She couldn't see a single thing. However, she could easily heard a couple of heavy footsteps approaching from distance. Both wore steel legplates, both walk at exact same pace, both carrying polearms. The guards coming!

8.678.647

8.678.648

8.678.649

The door of her cell creaked open and Manaka instantly covered her eyes with her hands. The light coming from the hallway was too bright it hurts, worse, the light wasn't even that intense but her eyes had became too sensitive after being kept in the dark for too long.

"Is this one of the sacrifice? She's just bones and skin."

"Yup. She's a duran assassin who got captured a few months ago. Killed a few noblemen with poison then a few more with explosion."

"Damn invaders. Really hopes this ritual works, or else my son might need to go to war. Hey, you. Get up!" One of the guard grabbed Manaka's hand and yanked her upward, forcing her to stand up even when her legs could barely do it. Her mouth was hanging open, she was trying to say something but her throat was too dry she ended up only letting out some guttural noises.

Unable to resist, Manaka could only followed blindly as the guards dragged her through places. Her eyes hurt too much she couldn't even open it, but she could heard the murmur of people they passed, the sound of steel boots against carpeted floor and a massive double door being opened. The door was then closed behind her and the guard kicked the back of her leg so she would fell into a kneeling position.

After a few seconds her eyes were finally able to adapt to the room's dim candlelight and the first sight she saw was a massive magic circle covering almost the entire floor of the room. There's a rather large aclove where a few mages and guards stood to oversee the room. Manaka slowly tirned her head to try seeing the room better and she found out that she wasn't the only one dragged here it seems. A total of eight individuals were placed on certain spots on the circle, intertwined with runes, infernals and even more symbols that she couldn't understand. She had been imprisoned in the darkness for months, she knew nothing about this ritual they're trying to do, but this reminds her of all the humiliations she received ever since that day and for a brief moment anger flashed on her eyes before the guards put a black sack to cover her head and tied her hands. She won't forget this, she won't forgive this!

A loud rattling sound echoed through the room and Manaka turned her head upward to see the source of it. She wished she didn't see that. On the place of where the ceiling should've been was a massive and complex structure made of iron, barbed wires, spikes and drying blood. Moreover, she did notices that thing was roughly shaped like a magic circle that might be complimentary to the one on the floor. This room was more than just ritual chamber, this was a mass-sacrifical room created with total efficiency and zero empathy in mind.

This, this was unacceptable. She refused to die like this! Manaka could felts her entire body trembling, yet she somehow found enough strength to stand upright and stared at the only mages with golden trimming on his robe. His eyes stared back at her with no emotion, as if he's looking past her. This one was an archmage and was probably the one leading the ritual. If she needs to die, then she wanted to at least take one of them down!

Letting out a desperate shriek, she charged forward with her hand extended. She would choke him, gouge his eyes, bite his throat. Whatever. Just one person, let her take just one.

*smack*

A gauntleted fist hit her in the jaw. Manaka's body was thrown like a ragdoll and she couldn't even think once she hit the floor. Her eyes were getting heavier, she couldn't keep her consciousness...

The last thing she remembered was the sound of chains and steels grinding each other as the spiked ceiling was brought down to execute the sacrifices.

--------------------------

Manaka gasped for air and jolted into sitting position. She's not in that room, she's now in a meadow. Purple sky was laid bare above her and she could feel her musculature was back to normal, back before they threw her into the dungeon. She remembered accepting an offer, though she thought she was just dreaming. Crossing her arms and digging through her skin with her nails, Manaka was making sure what was happening now was real. She could feels blood flowing down her arms.

"It's real. It's real. IT'S REAL!!!!" In a mixture of joy and relief, Manaka spread her arms wide and let out a long chuckle, which then shifted into a maniacal laughter.

Ajen Castiel
Shortly before his realization:
1647806898600.png
Poison. These darned aristocrats who shared his bloodline, had the guts to poison him?
"So you finally decided to take ac..." A sudden urge came upon him. He had to cough, to clear his throat, he couldn't breath.
"How unfortunate, that I don't have much time left." He let out a sigh.
"I've done my duty. But do..." Another cough he could not hold back.
"How pathetic." An expected remark from his useless cousin, clearly projecting all of his inferiority and failures onto him.
"The great duke of Castiel, reduced to such a sorry state. Don't worry, your Son will soon keep you company. A pause.
"My apologize, I forgot how much you hated him." What was he talking about?
"Hated? I..."
"You seem perplexed? But you can't possibly mean? Oh my." Mean what?
"My dear cousin, how could you be so oblivious? Did you really not realize, that you showed your contempt so clearly each and every day for him? Everyone knows you hate your own son! Why try to hide it even at your deathbed?"
That wasn't true. Not once did he show contempt for Tarun's Actions, how could these fools dare claim otherwise! "What rubbish are you claiming?!"
He stood up from his chair. "Thank you for reminding me, that my duty has not yet finished."
A single slash. And his cousin was a head lighter.

"Lars and Valgor." His two most trusted guards.
"Mylord what happen..." Ajen's mouth had blood running from it.
"Not now, we need to get out of here. I am..."
A strong relapse. He couldn't control his coughing any longer whatsoever.
His time was running out. He knew fully well he wouldn't make it.

After he finally stopped coughing and regained his composure, he managed, with his few remaining men, to reach the entry to his now in enemy hands fallen castle. During this little journey, but a single question ate away at him.
"Tell me truthfully Valgor, what do you think of my relationship with my son?"
"Mylord I don't..."

"Valgor!"

"You do despise him mylord, am I not right?"

So his cousin wasn't lying. His legs almost gave out. Had his behavior really looked as if he hated him? So he had failed one of his most important duties. And there was no chance for redemption, not anymore. A sigh.
"I've got one final order..."
"Mylord, we won't leave you."
"You will! And now listen. I beg of you not as your lord but as a father who has failed. Protect my son." Another sigh.
"My time is running out. I won't make it. I can't right the wrong I've caused and as such I beg you as a friend not as your superior to follow what I have asked. You must not serve him after my demise, but at least keep him safe until he can do so himself. Please."
He was now on his knees, a small price to alleviate the suffering he had caused.
"Now leave! I should still be able to buy you some time."
They followed his last plead without question. Ajen was ready for what would await him. Slowly more and more of his relatives and their troops came into his view. His end was approaching and his relatives seemed eager to accelerate it even by a second. While his relatives swung their glamorous knives at him and more inched closer, he came to accept, that he had completely failed. That he couldn't redeem himself, all because of his arrogance. Had he only noticed it sooner? He couldn't have, no matter how much time would have passed, he would have still failed. And so, he was almost ready to face his death.
Yet there was one last thing he had to do. One last thing he had to verbalize, to accept.

"I failed you."

But then, right when he was on the verge of accepting, when he had already crossed that bridge, a voice threw him back to the other side. A voice which offered him a chance to right his wrongs himself. How could he refuse? All for the small price of abandoning ones humanity? He had already lost it, the moment he failed his son. And as there was nothing to lose but only to gain, he accepted the voices proposal.

He had woken up, but everything was different. He was different. His body had changed. His power increased. The voice had delivered. And this place, grass and flowers where blooming everywhere. And the sky. It was purple! Just what was this place? And where did this damn laughter come from? Was the voice laughing at his past failures? No, unlike the voice, this laughter definitely came from a single direction, not from his head. Maybe it was a sign? Was he supposed to follow it? It didn't matter, he couldn't tell where or when he was, so he might as well just follow the loudest noise.

Somewhere in Izarya's kingdom, Town in the FrontierThe day began the same as the many before it, distant screams of the battlefield where Izarya’s army fought against the invaders, while the life in the frontier town tried to be the same as before the war. But the evergrowing slums caused by the greed of the nobles within the town was a reality not many could ignore.

Hans is a resident of the slums, a bit more wealthy than most who live down there, especially since he had to feed about thirty kids and himself each day, money of course had to come from somewhere. Since a few years back he and the kids he feeds became a part of an organization, where dirty works are the most common of tasks, stealing, killing, arson, and so on. This day was different, someone nominated Hans and his posse a rather important mission. According to it a few of Izarya’s mages are suspected of turning against the kingdom, their job was to kill them even if the suspicion turns out to be false.
Having received such a mission Hans along with his posse began preparing for it, it took them most of the day to get ready, and as night began they got to work. Arriving at an old mansion near the city center they jumped above the walls surrounding it and into a balcony on the second floor, from there they saw a group of people standing above a circle. It was their targets, so without even thinking Hans jumped from the second floor down onto one of the target's back plunging his two knives into him, with his posse shooting down two of them, Hans was left with the last one.

So he ran forward towards him and just as Hans was about to stab him he saw their face. It was an old man his face full of terror and fear, but it was familiar. As the old man fell and died Hans remembered from where he knew the person, it was one of the people from the slums, he then quickly turned his head back and was about to yell to ‘fall back that it's a trap’ a volley of crossbow bolts flew towards him, many piercing him making him look like a damn porcupine.
His lungs were slowly filling with blood for one of the bolts pierced them, but he still had to say something.
“How dare you do it? I raised you.”
A cough spews blood out of him, but he continues nevertheless.
“I risked my life together with you!”
As he said his last words another volley of bolts entered his body, and as the circle began to glow, his posse threw bottles to the ground followed by a singular torch which lit the building aflame.
Hans was on his death bed with only the ability to think left he heard a voice say to him.
“Do you want to live?” Hans simply replied. “Yes”
Then the voice asked again “ You would be reborn as a demon. You would leave your humanity behind. Are you willing to make that sacrifice?”
Hans replied once again. “Iv became a demon to survive, so becoming a literal demon now isn't any different.”
As Hanse's consciousness began to fade he heard the voice once more. “Splendid.

Unknown Meadow
As Hans laid there on the ground he could not believe it, he was alive, so that voice was real, but how. Being a bit lazy Hans continued to lay there on the grass as it was soft and comfy, then his thoughts began to wander.
’So I'm alive. Based on the noise around me I'm not the only one who received similar treatment. But what to do now? And how should I call myself, since using the name given by that organization leaves me with a bad taste.’
While thinking as such he heard the voice once again but this time far more clearly.
“If you desire to discard your old name then I shall grant you another. From this day forth you will be called Nyx Gunju.”
Feeling a bit theatrical at the moment Nyx flipped around and landed on his knees, then he took both of his kukri knives and plunged them at the ground while saying.
“I hereby declare I shall discard my old name and life, and thereby accept the new name granted by they, and lead a new life at your command. So from this day forth, I'm known as Nyx Gunju, your servant. Oh, great unknown voice.”

After creating that scene, Nyx took his knives from the ground and hid them behind his apron, and stood up while cleaning his knees from dirt.
Then he took a look around and realized he was far closer than he thought so probably everyone gathered here could hear him talk.
Realizing how weird of a situation he probably created he began to scratch his head behind his ear finding a sharp short horn hidden behind his weird side bangs, that he styled each day to imitate cat ears.
He then spoke once more but louder and clearer.
“So it appears, all of us died, but lived thanks to the grace of whatever the name of the voice is. I'm Nyx, lets's get along shall we.”
Ending his little speech with a big smile on his face.

Kokoru Crimsonheart

Kokoru took a look around the meadow and wondered how these clothes got on her. It was odd. These clothes werent anything like what she knew from Izarya, but they were comfortable and she could move easily in them. The horns on her head still needed getting used to. She expected demons to have short stubby horns. Hers were large and curled like ram horns.

She saw as the others began waking up as well and approached them. "I guess we were all reborn here for a reason. One moment I am pleading for my life and I get decapitated by a family member as a sacrifice for some ritual, then the next moment I wake up here as a demon with the urge for vengeance against those who betrayed me. I am just wondering if the requirement for this ordeal was the same as mine or if you all had different experiences." Kokoru said out loud. She hadn't intended to voice her thoughts out loud and apologized before making her introduction: "Pardon me, I was just thinking out loud. I am Aka..., I mean Kokoru Crimsonheart. In my past life, I was known as Akazulia Shikurea of Izarya. I was a royal princess, but since I had been forsaken and murdered by my family, I am no longer royalty and shouldn't be treated as such. I never really felt like royalty in the first place as I was neglected by my family and practically raised by palace staff who showed me valuable skills such as cooking and swordsmanship."

Then something came to her mind: "Speaking of swordsmanship and cooking. Great voice, with what should be fight and can we eat normal human food? Though I'd rather have the appetite for something meaty right now." The voice then made itself known: "In regards to weaponry, look to the side of your waist. There you will find a weapon suited for you. See it as my gift. As you grow in strength and experience, so will your weapon. In regards to food, your appetite is correct. You need meat to survive, at least blood. The best and most nutritional meat for you, my children, is the meat of humans."

Kokoru looked to her side and found a katana in a black and red sheath on her belt. She pulled the katana out and it was a katana that had a blade made of a metal that was black as obsidian. Kokoru took a swing. The sword was well balanced and felt almost like an extension of her. "Wonderful." She said. Upon hearing that while meat would be sufficient sustenance for them, human meat would be better, Kokoru asked: "Do we have to? My murder ultimately made me lose hope for humanity. With all the bad that happened in Izarya, all the suffering that humans cause to each other, I am not sure if humans will even taste that good. Or are you saying that for us demons, the meat is especially palatable?"

An amused voice then said: "So many questions! For your subspecies of demon, it is especially palatable, just like pig demons love pork and elf demons eat elves. Speaking of which, the demons of the neighboring domains will send you some resources as a welcoming gift. You need at least somewhere to live and basic necessities before you can be self sufficient. Until they arrive, you will have plenty of time to get aquainted with each other."

Kokoru then replied: "I guess those are the quirks of being a demon. But thanks for all the help you have provided us with. At least I will honor you, demon god, if I may call you that." She turned to the others and smiled: "I am sure we can become good companions and friends and help each other achieve our goals. I hope I can put my trust in you!"

After she calmed down enough Manaka was finally able to analyze her situation. First, regarding herself, she immediately noticed that the wounds she just inflicted to herself were currently closing, as in, a magical force was sewing it back. Then there's the horns and the clothes, though it wasn't that weird compared to the fact that she just got reborn as literal demon.

Secondly, regarding the other people around her, there's a few of them who apparently just changed their name. Seemed the voice encouraged them to do so. Her? Manaka had no intention for a name change, if she managed to get back into the human world and successfully took her revenge wouldn't it be better if she could rub her name to all who had done her wrong? She wanted maximum suffering for them, and death would simply be too merciful.

Anyway, the first person who drew her attention would be Kokoru. She had a baby face yet she's much taller than Manaka herself. Also, she basically just told everyone her life story, despite her claim that she just got betrayed. Manaka unconsciously let out a brief sigh. For some reason she was very sure Kokoru wasn't lying, in that case she's just a naive person. Well, Manaka appreciates honesty, although she wouldn't do the same thing.

"My, what a fate. Let me introduce myself then," Manaka performed a little curtsy while slowly making eye contact with every person nearby. "Manaka Oboro. Hope we can work well together."

He stood as the blood started to seep from his wound over his heart. He fell to his knees, then onto his side as he watched the man who stabbed him run...the coward was sniveling and shaking as the blade in his hands dripped. He wanted to move but something in his body kept him from doing so. He saw as the man was tackled to the ground and held down by his soldiers. Good men, he thought, having trained them all well. Memories of them filled his mind. The ones good and bad. Seeing new recruits join and loosing some others...that was war. Yet here was that noble brat, the one meant to serve as a sacrifice, the one that he and his unit had been forced into putting up with...getting to live. No, more than that, he was the one that killed him. All because some of the people in charge refused to follow his advice. "Do not speak of matters outside you expertise they claimed." Always the same words whenever someone had anything else to suggest or questioned their motives or ideas...his vision had started to blur more.

There was noise...voices. He heard one of the commanders speak. "We cannot waste this opportunity. We'll never get another chance at this. Continue the ritual!" No please...not this way. Do something, try something! Those were words he screamed in his mind. When he tried to talk all that came out was a garbled mess. He could heat the faint pleas of his soldiers as their voices mixed. All of them were pleading for another way, for something else to be done and not let him die...to take his place. Color and shape became one. The noises became seemed further somehow.

"Do you want to live?"
"What?"
"Do you want to live? Even if it means forsaking your humanity and living as demon?"
"...yes."
"Very well."
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
The grassy field around him felt comfortable, as if it were a bed from a palace. He opened his eyes then immediately moved his hand to his chest.

Where the wound had been was clean. No blood. He looked at what he wore. No longer was this a soldier's uniform. This was something more akin to the clothing of higher nobles. The cape was strange to him as it seem pristine, as if straight from a tailor, but was also torn, as if it were worn for many years. He stood, as if all he were waking up, as if all he'd experienced were merely a dream. He looked around at the others, surprised over others also being there. "If you'd like, you can receive a new name. A way to fully cast out who you once were." He nodded then walked over to the demon to the one in the red kimono. "From now on your name shall-"

"I am Arturo Plateado" he spoke cutting off the voice before it could finish. He knelt on one knee before the former princess his head looking downward. "I was a soldier before arriving here. Though this is a new world, I feel it would not be proper for me to start this new life without apologizing for my failure to protect you. I am sorry for my inaction."

Ajen Castiel
1649370945900.png
He followed the laughter, just until he heard a familiar voice. A voice, not meant to be here. Her highness, the third princess. It was no surprise to him, how she had been treated, yet he could not stop but see the irony. Had his son not felt the same as her? He may have had reflected on his behaviour or at least seen through his failure, but the effects of his actions, the causality, was by no means different than that of the king's.

A voice creeped into his head, speaking of human meat and how it apparently would taste especially well to the new body he was inhabiting. He did not care for taste however, the food he had eaten since his reign as duke, always tasted bland anyway, as such, taste had rarely ever been of any importance. So It did not matter whether he had to eat it at any point, if it was available, he would consume it, as much as he would anything else.

What was of greater interest, was the voices mentions of a weapon, there was indeed one directly at his side, he had noticed it sooner, but upon closer inspection he had to stop for a moment. It had in it's form, shape and weight striking similarities with the former sword he had used, it even felt as if it was an extension to himself, not only because it rsembled what he had used before, no it seemed even more fitting for him, even more adjusted to his body. Not to speak of, that he felt it being connected to his mana. To his very life force.

A truly most curious artifact, one he would have to take a closer look at another time. Especially, since his thoughts were disrupted. "Arturo Plateado." Said person, who claimed to be called as such, had stepped forward and kneeled down before her highness. The name, his name, it felt familiar. Yet Ajen could not remember why. The only thing that popped into his mind, was the Military. Yes, afformentioned person had some kind of association with the military. Maybe a general? No, he would have remembered. But then why, did he felt this sense of knowing? Oddly enough he even apologized for his inability to protect her highness. But he could not have been a royal guard. Even less the princess' guard. At least he had confirmed, to be a soldier, not that it helped in anyway to determine his former rank, but alas, he felt it, his thoughts were once more drifting away, he was drifting away.

But before he could lose himself in thoughts, he had to at least introduce himself, despite his notoriety. Most probably wouldn't know of his appearance. He stepped forward. Just before he could start his sentence, another person however had already started. It's voice, he recognized. It was the voice which he had previously followed, the laughter he had heard. The voice's owner, introduce herself, as Manaka Oboro, this name however, did in no way sprout a sense of familarity at least. Which was not necessary good, since the intentions of the other two, he could most likely more easily try to identify, this woman, he had no previous interaction with, at least according to his feelings, which he knew had been faulty for a long time, as such, her intentions would be difficult to discern.

Yet there was no more time to waste, he once more prepared himself to speak up, this time successfully.

"What an illustrious round we have. Your highness - he bowed - while you may not remember me, I was a servant of the crown. Ajen Castiel, former Duke of Castiel. It is truly a pleasure to meet you once more, although it saddens me, that we meet under such unfortunate circumstances."

Nyx Gunju

While others were introducing themselves Nyx was just strolling around them in circles, looking at every single one of them.
After the former duke finished his greeting, with both hands at his hips and his head held towards the sky he spoke.
"Ah, a former princess, a soldier, and a former duke. Also a crazy lady. It almost looks like I don't fit in with you all."
He said while forming a small and cheeky grin on his face before continuing, his talk.
"Where are my manners? My name is Nyx Gunju, or do you rather want to hear my former name which should have even less meaning to most of you. Hans Humpty a killer for hire from the Black Hand organization, at your service."

Nyx wasn't raised with a lot of knowledge about manners through the years he picked some from his employers or targets for 'cleaning', so he slightly lowered his head and performed the wimpiest bow, most of the people here ever saw.
While bowing he continued with his little rant.
"Seeing that all of us died one way or another. Can I safely assume all of us were betrayed? The princess by what was supposed to be her family, I by my posse, and you three, you know how you died."
After that little spill of deduction and information, Nyx straightened himself, letting out a little sigh before saying yet another series of words meant to drive a sense of purpose into him or the other, maybe even to lift their spirits.
" I can't promise that I will help you fulfill your vengeance, for I have my own to fulfill. But you need to know my blade shan't be drawn against any of you, for we bear the same fate now. Yet a single question stands what are we gonna do now? I might be good at killing people and raising animals but that is not enough to live a self-efficient life here. So what do all of you bring to the table known as our future?"

After Kokoru had introduced herself, the other newly reborn demons began to introduce themselves too. The first one, a black haired woman with a red streak in her hair, had introduced herself as Manaka. Kokoru then responded: "Delighted. I really hope we do work together well." The next introduction was one by a brown haired demon who described himself as a soldier in his past life. He apologized for not being able to protect Kokoru in her past life. Smiling, Kokoru said: "No need to kneel or apologize, Arturo. We are equals now and my death was neither your fault nor was saving me within your reach. Even if you had been in the palace at the time of my death, going against the king would have been an immediate execution for you. As practically siblings now, what matters is that we have each others backs in the future and work together."

Another voice was heard. It was a face Kokoru had seen before: A duke of Izarya. Ajen Castiel if she remembered correctly. As he introduced himself, he was just as formal as the former soldier and it seemed she had remembered the duke's name correctly. "Like I said before, you do not need to address me as [your highness] anymore since we are now equals. I remember your face though. We have met a couple times before. We all seem to have come here due to unfortunate circumstances."

Finally, the last one to introduce himself, named himself Nyx Gunju, formerly the hired killer Hans Humpty. Kokoru made a polite bow and said: "Delighted to meet you." When he guessed that they all had been betrayed in one way or another, Kokoru replied: "It seems so." Nyx, stated that he had his own vengeance to fulfill, so helping the others fulfill theirs wasn't his priority. At the same time he stated that he wouldn't bear any hostility towards the others as the shared a common fate. Upon mentioning his skills and asking the others about theirs due to working towards a future in these lands, Kokoru replied: "Other than combat, I have some skill with woodworking and weaponsmithing. When you are basically raised by servants, you learn a lot of things. I can do more, but my best skills are stated woodworking, maybe it is sufficient enough to call me a carpenter, and weaponsmithing."

"Anyways, I guess there comes our support for building our basic needs such as shelter and resources." Kokoru said and pointed to a group of pig demons and carts heading their way. "If they will build us homes. Should we have them do it right here or up in an elevated location like a hill or a mountain? I also wonder how long it will be until we can venture into the human world. I feel like I have the power to at least raise a little hell in the human world. But maybe it would be wise to hone our strength here first before venturing through a portal and seeking revenge."

"I'm so relieved that we aren't going to fight each other, I was just a humble doctor so I don't have combat experience. Also I don't know much about the anatomy of a demon but feel free to tell me if you need medical help~" Mana chimed in. She felts a bit more relaxed after knowing some information about the others.

"A home on a hill sounds nice, are you thinking of building a castle, Kokoru?" Manaka asked Kokoru back while her eyes scanned the horizon to see the beautiful untouched land. There's a brief glimmer on her eyes before she continue.

"Although, I think I want my house to be in a large plain with easy access to water. There's a lot of land here for us so I want to try my hand on some... farming~" Manaka stated her plan while displaying a wide smile on her face, though the way she said the last word hinted that she has more in mind.

Ajen Castiel
1650152414600.png
Once Ajen had finished, another voice entered the conversation. One claiming to have been an assassin previously to the current situation. And a name, Nyx Gunju. Yet neither his name nor the name of the alleged assassination organization was known to Ajen. How unlikely. However he had after all only recently found out just how blind he had been for so long, missing other things, was therefore by no means unexpected.

He sighed.

And now this alleged assassin, Nyx, even claimed he wouldn't draw his sword against any one of the group, simply because they shared the same fate? Did he really think, his words be they true or not, would be believable? Maybe he did. Maybe he did not, his following question, did however seem to show, that he had some willingness to cooperate. Or that he was a good talker. Whatever his was, the question itself did posess some value. Value, which was at least in part revealed immediately.

He had not expected for her highness to be adept at such mundane tasks, yet he couldn't claim, that it had surprised him, with the treatment she had to go through, evidently one had to find other ways to survive on ones own as good as possible...
Helpful, yet at the same time, painful.

Ajen had to stop his thoughts from straying off. What better way was there then, other than to at least answer the question or questions, as it seemed, that during his short recollection, the number had trippled, albeit unlikely that any one would be surprised at his answer to his abilites.

"As you wish. I did not intend to respond to you as such any longer Kokeru regardless of your request. So you have not worry. My previous show, was the least bit of courtesy I had intended to give to you, based on your former heritage. Apologize if my answer however feels lacking.
Aside frrom mentioning that the sword at my hip is not a decoration, one can assume that I indeed posses the qualities to manage a fief. I know, shocking, I was indeed a noble, who at least fulfilled his second most important duty."
If only, his competency had stretched further.

One of the other questions did however indeed surprise Ajen. That her former highness Kokeru would actually think about basic positioning of structures and ask for opinion on whether a higher laying vantage point would be of greater benefit or a easier access to the ground and an easier way to expand, was outside of his expectations. She showed potential, just like.... Anyway. She showed potential, but had forgotten to take into consideration other things, which became even more glaring with the question that had followed. For while regardless of the glaring problem, Ajen would certainly prefer a quicker visit of the human world and a quicker visit with his child, she had nonetheless failed to recognize, that making a decision based on the current information, was unwise.

Not because one shouldn't act without enough information. No. Rather, it should be quite simple to gather the required information without any trouble. For why, would the defensibility of the coming buildings matter, if there was no threat that could reach it? And how could she even ask whether the group should venture outside, without knowing the exact combat abilities? He had to intervene. Yet, he had to not once more fail, not once more fall back in to old habits.
Not. Once. More.

Ajen clasped. And tried to form a smile. He hoped it wouldn't look to bad, after all, he hadn't smiled, for... a while.
"Brilliant. Truly outstanding, that yours truly Kokeru, would actually be thinking about the future in such a manner, that yours truly, would posess the foresight to consider, how important the location may be, is truly astonishing. Yet, I hope that this former servant of yours, may give you a piece of advice as your fellow companion. It seems to me, that yours truly, has rushed a bit too far. Pardon me, if I am unconcrete.

What I mean to say, is that you Kokeru, should before asking these questions or while asking these questions, also have asked the one responsible for bringing us here, how likely it is for humans to acess this world to begin with. Or to say it in simpler terms, first determine the threats that may come up in the future. Be they of human, demon or another origin. Before that, deciding on the location may be to premature.
However, if you indeed wished to hear my opinion, based on the current information, then I'd prefer the flexibility of flat land."

He bowed towards Kokeru.
"I truly hope, that my seemingly harsh words, are not seen as mockery, for they are not. I do find it astonishing after all, that you developed such tactical thinking, despite your circumstances. Now to answer your second question. I would prefer a descend as soon as possible, after all, I have matters to attend to, which in fact, need to be urgently adressed."

Arturo rose from where he knelt, having done what he wished. He listened as the introductions where made. "During my previous life I was well known for my strategies and negotiations skills. I am also proficient in various weapons though I prefer to use weapons more like spears and such." He looked around at the area, while this hill was beautiful it seemed far too exposed. Wait should he be thinking like that. After all, who knew that they were still alive? Would anyone even come looking to kill them? Perhaps he should learn to ease up on his military mentality...at least for now.

He thought about more of what he wanted...his life had been in service to the military for so long that he had no real interests of his own and now in this new world...the possibilities. The way that Ajen spoke reminded him of the double talk that some of the nobles he would sometimes guard speak. He detected no sarcasm in his voice however. He was also sure he recognized the name.

"Are we sure they'll build them for us? We've no idea how...amenable these demon will be." He didn't want to appear paranoid. This was new world for all of them. They only had one another...strangers forced into a situation none of them wanted to be in. Each of them chose this. That thought lingered in Arturo's mind.

"I don't need a castle. At least not for now. I am fine with a house that has a bedroom, a bathroom, a study, a kitchen, a dining area, a garden area, as well as a separate building for smithing and enough space to exercise and train my combat ability. Maybe a spare room for guests would be a good idea. If I want anything bigger later I can either set aside an area to expand or pick a new location and give my old place to a follower. But even if we are theoretically rulers of this domain..." Kokoru said before the voice chimed in: "That's practically. You ARE the rulers of this domain." "Ah, alrighty. Even thought we are the rulers of this domain, I don't need a castle or lair as extravagant as what the royal family had. The extravagance of the castle irked me. How could a royal family leave so lavishly when even at peacetimes many families were starving. Pssh. Humans." Kokoru continued.

Once Ajen had commented and criticized her, Kokoru replied: "I think you misunderstood. I didn't find tactical locations of any concern because I expect it to be nigh impossible for humans to invade this realm. I expect to open a portal or pathway, a demon may be required. And since we are receiving assistance from other demon domains, I guess a domestic threat is also unlikely. Additionally, at this early stage we just need something basic to live in and could consider to relocate into something bigger later on."

The voice chimed in again to answer Ajen and Kokoru: "Yes, to travel here, a demon is needed. How are humans going to get here if they don't even know the location? Many humans might not be aware that a demon realm could exist. And domestic threats are unlikely. Rebellions still can happen as they have in the past due to poor leadership, but by contract, domains are forbidden from going to war with one another. If relationships amongst rulers and archdemons are sour, they should sort it out amongst themselves and not send their followers to their deaths in their stead."

"Very wise. You sound like a very benevolent deity. It seems you care deeply for your children." Kokoru responded.

Arturo had asked about the nature of the demons coming and the voice said: "Fear not. You will find the pig demons to be very collegial." "Yeah I think, they had said that the other domains will assist us." Kokoru said.

"As for a building location, I will go for the edge of the forest, in the flatter parts of these lands. While a hill may be nice, I don't want it to be an arduous trip for potential visitors." Kokoru said in regards to building locations.

Soon the pig demons arrived. They were bipedal, their feet were like pigs feet, yet their build was humanoid. They were a bit wider than humans and had hands like humans but with fur on top depending on the color of their fur. Some pig demons had the heads of domestic pigs, but as demons they possessed horns. Other pig demons were more similar to boars and even had tusks. "So ya are the new ones? Kinds of reminds me of the elven ones, just with different ears and rougher. We heard there are five of ya. So we will split inta five groups ta built ya yer houses. I am Yoshi, the vice buildmaster of the pig demon domain. Just tell me crews where ya'd like ta build and any specifics of what ya want and they should be able ta build it for ya. Just keep in mind, the bigger ya want it, the longer it takes and there is another limitation. The biggest ya getting is a mansion. If ya want a castle, ya need ta provide payment like coin, exotic meat or resources." A larger pig demon said.

Ajen Castiel
1651011150000.png
He had overthought it. Not again... Again! Why didn't he arrive at the logical conclusion, rather than the one he preferred? Why couldn't he see, just how his actions appeared to others! He was so damn stubborn and arrogant, and that was why he had failed. He had to stop thinking, there was no merit, just the truth, the truth which he had looked upon again and again and again. So many times, always coming to the same conclusion and yet, he had not learned! Not changed! Predestined to fail.

No... He had to calm down. Yes. Calm down, occupy your mind with something else. Building! Absolutely, the demon's question had to be answered. So what did he want? What would aid him the most in his quest? A small hut, certainly would be nice, but the comforts of sleeping quarters, were undeserving for him, after all he had done. But why would he need a mansion? His right to a mansion vanished, the moment he failed his duties, so many years ago, yet there was a clear advantage to it. While his son shouldn't ever need to visit this realm, if he wanted to guarantee his success, he had to accept, that he alone was not enough. It was after all clearly that line of thought, which lead to his arrogance, or at least fueled it. He had to force himself to work with others, not to mention, once his wish had been fulfilled, the likelihood of him disappearing, was not null.

All these factors, made it all to easy to choose the mansion, not for himself, but rather for his goals and his son's future aids. As for the location... It didn't matter, it wasn't for him, then might as well...
"It is most pleasant to meet you. I am quite thankful for your kind assistance. Since your offer is so generous, I will certainly take you up on it. As such I would have to ask of you, to construct a mansion, right here where I am standing. Ah... And if I may note. Please focus on constructing a mansion in which as many beings can live as possible."

Ajen now turned back to Kokoru.
"Now as I had mentioned, I would prefer to start an expedition as early as possible. Yet for exactly that reason, I ask to see the combat abilities of each one of us, as such, my suggestions would for each of us who are capable in a physical confrontation, to portray their abilities in a sparring match against each other. Since the information gained from such spars, certainly should help decide, whether it is wise, to visit the human realm so soon. And as I am the one suggestiing, I wouldn't mind to start. If you wish to... avoid a physical confrontation between us even if it is but a mere spar, I will however heed said wish."

TanteRegenbogen TanteRegenbogen mysteryxio mysteryxio Spoiled Bread Spoiled Bread Megilagor Megilagor

"Oh my, a spar? I think I will pass, but if its regarding the visit to human world I think as soon as we finished preparing here it would be better. I have things I want to acquire in human world. Now, please excuse me as I want to look for a good place for my house." Manaka briefly waved at the others before she walked towards the pig demons.

After a bit of small talk the buildmaster assigned 3 of his crews to follow Manaka and the woman joyfully leads them. She carefully keeps her sight on the ground for suitable spot and after a few minutes of searching, Manaka finally gave the signal for the pig demons to start building. Its on a clearing a few dozen meters from a river with fertile soil. She asked for a large yet simple house, a few other buildings for what she said would be a farm and a large expansive cellar system beneath all those. That last request threw the pig demons off slightly but after more discussion and a schematic that Manaka drew on the ground they finally nodded in understanding.

Elven demons Arturo thought I never would have imagined such a race as that would also be here. He began to feel his mind racing with things he wanted to ask, but not here, not in front of everyone else. Sure, he was friendly with them and they were all in the same scenario, but he still was unsure if he could trust the others. He thought of what he wanted built. A mansion was fairly extravagant for him. Sure his house was big growing up, he was from a minor noble family, but sleeping in barracks had changed his preferences. Still, when else would he get this opportunity, to receive a home with no stipulations at all. "A pleasure to meet you Yoshi." He extended his hand towards the newly arrived demon's. "If possible I would like a large house, something that isn't necessarily a mansion but still fairly large if that makes any sense. I'd like for it to have a huge library, a few studios for different uses, and a wine cellar. A nice kitchen and dining room plus some extra bedrooms too." Arturo thought for a moment. He wanted enough room to try all of the things he never got a chance to experience before. Find out who he was before all this happened. "This may seem like an odd request but is it possible to have some stables and an observatory built as well. As for the location, somewhere near a river or even a waterfall and enough room to plant an orchard as well. I haven't had a chance to explore this realm yet so if that location is a problem let me know please."

"I suppose a duel does sound appealing" Arturo said intrigued by the idea of testing out what this new body could do, "though I've no desire to go back to the human world yet, a part of me is wanting to battle. Especially since that's always thought that's how I'd go out." He pointed to an empty spot a little ways away. "If we're gonna do this better to be away from where the construction's happening unless you want to get in the way." Part of him was also wondering how this body would compare to his previous one. Whether there were any type of enhancements made he'd yet to know of.

Nyx Gunju

Nyx looked towards the pig demons with a sense of ease, for he trusted them more than people themselves, especially since they were supposed to build their homes.
For that very purpose, he took a quick glance around the area, before calling one of them to him.
The area chosen for his new home was a bit of a walk from the place they awoke in, it was a clearing just before a small forest with a little lake fed from the larger river by a tiny stream.
While the area might not have been much it was the greatest for him.
"If you can create a house for me it would be great, it doesn't need to be big, it just needs to be safe and sound, so you know a bedroom, a kitchen, and whatever else a normal home would have. Oh and a fenced area outside by the lake with some roofed area, since I do plan to have some animals here. That's all I need. But if you feel it needs something more then I leave that decision to you. "
After showing the pig demon the area and explaining what he wants to be built here, he nodded towards him with a slight bow as thanks before turning around and returning to the people he arrived herewith.
Then he looked at Ajen after hearing about a spar.
"While I am up for a challenge of a spar, that does not mean I know the proper etiquette for it. So if I end up taking it too far do let me know."

In response to Ajen, Kokoru replied: "A sparring match might be nice, but we might be completely different in skill or experience levels. Wouldn't different sort of competition be better to better evaluate each one's abilities? Such as we could do different challenges that affect different skills, such as one depending on ability to use a blade such as cutting blocks of wood and a challenge to test one's ability to move like completing a course that needs one to run, jump and maybe even swim. And if use of a blade is decent enough we could still see in a sparring match how well each demon can wield a weapon. If we shall just do a spar, I will be willing to. However my skills arent that great. So I am sure I would lose to most sparring opponents that this stage."

Looking for an appropriate area to eventually carry out a spar or a competition, Kokoru spotted a clearing not far from them that could eventually be a good spot to carry out the spar or competition. "If we are going to spar, how about that clearing over there. It is out of the way of where our residences are being built and we should have plenty of room in case anyone causes more damage than they intended to." Kokoru said.

Nyx Gunju

Nyx nodded hearing Kokoru's little spiel.
Then after she finished speaking he said his own words with a bit of a smile on his face pointing towards Kokoru.
"That is actually true. Good job little one! But yeah now that I look at all of us, I don't think our sparring will do much. I specialize in sneak attacks and assassinations, so fighting against anyone in a fair match is already at disadvantage to me."
As he spoke he came closer to Kokoru fighting with himself to not pat her on the head he spoke once again.
"I can safely say if you've been within my grasp back when I was a human I might not have been a murderer, or at least the one who leads me would be righteous. Yet a question still stands do they want to spar or a little challenge to test our skills."
After saying what he did Nyx began eyeing the others gathered on the plains to see their reactions. Who approves, whos against it, whos nervous and whose relaxed, some of those traits are what is desired by him in a comrade, the others are what he despises, but no matter what he decided that the little one next to him is worth listening to.

Ajen Castiel
1652823577300.png
It was true, the most honorable way of fighting would not necessarily show the skills of everyone that was present. He should have taken such simple facts into consideration, without needing the guidance of another! Frustrating... And disappointing. This behaviour of his, would lead to failure in the future. It did in the past already, and evidently still was present. But there wasn't anything he could do just in this very moment to change it.

Nyx's proposal however... a challenge? Maybe? A spar, epsecially this one, wasn't meant to determine the hierarchy but rather show the limit of everyone present all to determine the future course of actions, and being pushed to said limit would even be beneficial for him. And a challenge... yes, it certainly would be a challenge. After all, there were capable individuals present. And even if he was certain he'd beat each and everyone in a direct confrontation... as Nyx said, a challenge would be desirable in whatever form.

"I... agree with your words. Therefore, let me make a slightly different proposal. Since a combination of both a challenge and spar seems possible, I propose just that. Even if my arrogance may blind me, I am still certain that either of you would be bested by me in a honorable spar. So how about I take the both of you on? We could even see how well the two of you work together."

TanteRegenbogen TanteRegenbogen mysteryxio mysteryxio Spoiled Bread Spoiled Bread Megilagor Megilagor

Arturo thought on Ajen's words. Two on one...that does sound interesting. Especially if Nyx believes that he can only handle sneak attacks. He nodded as he thought over the idea. "I've no objection to that if you don't," he said as he made a slight gesture to Nyx. He then had an idea and turned toward Kokoru. "You said you're not confident when it comes to fighting correct? Perhaps while this is going on you could inform Manaka of what we're doing as well as come up with different challenges for us to try. Who knows? Some of the other demons might want to see our contests of skill happen." He understood that it was likely she never received any real training given her lifestyle be he also didn't want to leave anyone out, perhaps if he'd been more inclusive when he had been alive then...No, he couldn't have those thoughts in his head. He had to stop thinking that way. That man would've always been a monster to be around. In the future though, he'd have his vengeance soon.

"I don't mind us just sparing but I do want to see what else this body is capable of. I do plan on doing more than just fighting while I'm here." Arturo proceeded to move and stretch his body, taking stock of it for the first time since reincarnation, beyond just the clothes and were his wound was. He felt more energized and loose than he had when he was a human. He no longer felt his previous war injuries acting up. He felt a smile ease his way onto his face as he wondered what else this new body was capable of. What powers he may also have.

As they all walked down to the area she had designated as the sparring ground, Kokoru listened to everyone's input about if they would participate and what they anticipated. When Ajen had the idea of doing a two on one spar, Kokoru replied: "I am up for whatever. If you are that confident about your abilities, then be my guest." Soon they reached where they would spar and would sort out the sparring matches.

Later

Kokoru was out of breath and sweaty after the spar. Her hair was a bit messy too. "Sorry about the damage. I think I may have been a little too reckless." Kokoru said referring to the damaged woodland and the slash marks in the ground. "I hadn't expected my new body to be this light and this strong. But as I had expected, I still lost. I don't have the experience of actual battle, but only from practice while I was at the palace. I think I should practice by swordfighting and maybe firstly focus on drawing my sword and try to end a duel as quickly as possible to make up for lack of experience or endurance."

Maybe sometime in the future, when she had gotten better at swordsmanship they could spar again.
