Realistic or Modern Zombies!

Phoenix killed the last zombie that was an immediate danger, but there would be more coming. She gestured to the ambulance up ahead. "Y'all see the ambulance? If we can get to it, I'll drive all y'all to where Sarah wants." She turned to Sarah. "You said Matt's house, right? Can you give me directions from here?"

Michael took a damaged iron crowbar nearby to use it temporarily as a melee weapon. He quickly got back to the group and looked around, wary for the next zombie.

Dianne Byrne & Celine Montero

It's been a while since her family became zombies. Maybe you're thinking that Diann should be really really sad now that her parents are dead, she is but not that much, she's kinda happy since her parents are dead for they were never like parents to her at all, the one she mourns for is her brother whom she loved a lot. But there's no use mourning in a place or at a time like this.

Right now Diann is reading one of the books of her favorite writer, Rick Riordan, she'd been reading this the weeks before this happened to everyone. She had been reading for hours bent upon finishing this book in her safe haven. Why is it a safe haven? Because Diann used the books in the public library, piled them all together, to make a makeshift barrier that surrounds her for 20 meters while she reads. It was a good way since if she hears a moan and many of those books falls means it's either a clumsy bitch or a zombie. Diann's been following the guides from Zombieland and Resident Evil films.

"
Ugh... "

Sounds were being made, the slow sliding of shoes to the library's wooden floor. Diann's head popped up from the book and checked from which direction the sound was coming from. Several books was heard coming from the eastern direction, slowly Diann crept to see if the maker of noise was human or a monster. Moans are heard and these aren't ones that can be heard from a passionate kissing scene or porn, these are ones that you see in those zombie films and it's never a good sign at this current situation. Broken nose, green-ish skin, tattered skin and clothes, smelly as hell. Yes, it's a zombie and one thing can only be done... Killing it.

It was great coincidence that the zombie was standing in front of a bookshelf, it made life easier. A little effort in pushing made the shelf rock, a little more and it went Thud!! and Splat!! At the very same time. Satisfied with killing a zombie Diann hurriedly took off, after all that much noise will a attract a lot of zombies. She used the broken window as her exit, a book in her hand and a metal bat at her shoulder.

At the very same time...

How long has it been? Days? Weeks? It wouldn't really matter. Celine lost every ounce of Time Perception she had. Who would care if you've been walking on the streets, alone, starving in the middle of Z.Day? Walking without 4 of her other friends, Celine strives to survive despite the horrors, Celine clings to positivity, claiming it's all she have left that differentiates her from the living dead. Perhaps that was exaggerated, I mean, she doesn't particularly eat human flesh, smells and looks like a corpse and is incapable of speech but Celine's mindset runs differently from... the norm. Others would've been scared shitless, incapable of doing what Celine is doing, looking out into the world, positively.

Celine continues to walk around the streets aimlessly, trying to avoid the occasional encounters with the undead, should she come face to face with one. She knows her incapability to rescue herself would be her demise, such would be the obvious choice. Her bags, though only moderately heavy, contributes to her continuous exhaustion, despite having quite the number of rations on her bags, she'd save it up till she at her limit.
Being an extremely busy bee has it perks after all she chuckled as she relates how... helpful it was for her to be among the busiest students in class in surviving a zombie apocalypse.

She puts herself into a halt as she hugs the wall of a large abandoned building one of which had designs she's quite unfamiliar of, her country had none of these types of buildings after all, and carefully walked around it, being wary of her spot till...
Thud! the sound made Celine jump a bit, but became relieved that the sound came from inside the building. What was that? normally, you'd try to ignore this, considering it could be a random zombie horde but knowing Celine, she would look on the brightest side of a black pot and decided to check it herself. A figure jumped out of a broken window, with a slight squeak, Celine jumped in surprise as well. Collecting herself for a while, she called out to the random figure. "Uhm! H-hey! Wait! Excuse me!" shyly calling the person out.

Diann was already walking away from the scene she had just caused, the sooner she gets out the safer she is... In a way she's safe from a crowd of zombies. It was weird to say that there's a stupid bitch wanting to be eaten calling out to her, at first she thought it was her imagination but when she looked back she saw a teen calling out to her for real.

Diann scanned the girl quickly for bites or scratches but that doesn't seem to be the case with her, she was clean as a newly bought porcelain. Diann noticed a zombie just behind the girl, tall man with a eaten right cheek and bloody mouth. Diann ran to this girl and pulled her to the side then...
Wham!! Bam!! The zombies head was crushed like mashed potatoes, blood and rotten meat scattered the side walk. Diann smiled in satisfaction at her work, it wasn't everyday you get a good smashing like that.

Diann went back to the girl and signals her to be quiet. Diann quickly placed the book to her backpack and grabbed the girl's arm and made a run for it, for the fact that more of them were coming. To the alleyway they go then up the stairs for a better talk. Once they were there a bit of breathing to slow the fast heartbeat was done it was time for a bit of questioning. "
Hey, are you ok? What you did back there was one of the greatest ways for those lustful monsters to come and get you, yeah?"

The girl didn't even realize it, the zombie that nearly got her, everything was happened so quickly. From being rescued to being on the run to hiding in a nearby alley way. Her rescuer wasn't much of a casual talker, questioning her of her safety to scolding her for doing such stupid acts, nonetheless, Celine appreciates two facts, she's finally found another human being; two, she's found someone to talk to.

With a smile, she replied. "
Y-yes. I am fine. Thank you for rescuing me and sorry... I'm not used to not having anyone around me in a while so I got excited." she stood up, only catching her breath now and stretched. "I'm Celine, Celine Montero. May I know your name?" she added.

Diann check below if any of those things followed them and luckily there wasn't. The girl started to talk claiming that she was fine and sorry about what happened earlier which was fine by Diann al long as everything was ok. She introduced herself as Celine Montero. "
Mine is Diann Byrne. B-y-r-n-e which is pronounced as burn. If we are gonna stick together then don't ever shout or scream, be the calmest you can be in any situation because panicking won't do you any good. And also... we can't stay here for long it's not the best thing to do so c'mon. Let's get going." Diann motioned Celine to follow her and she did. They walked aimlessly looking for a place to stay when night falls or maybe searching for more survivors. Who knows, only fate can decide for them now.

“Yeah,” Sarah nodded, “I can get us there.”

She scanned the street, empty at the moment but sure to be swamped before long. There had to be hundreds, maybe thousands of them in this part of town, out of sight down alleyways and in buildings, desperate for a meal now they’d depleted the population. The occasional groans and half-formed vocalizations of diseased minds confirmed their presence, getting closer every second they remained here.

“So… run for it?”

Phoenix nodded. "Alright, y'all. On the count of three, we run to the ambulance. Sarah, you go to the passenger side, I'll take the driver's side, and the rest of y'all can take the dogs to the back. There's only one seat with a seatbelt back there, plus the cot. There's some handles on the ceiling to hang on to." She adjusted the crossbow and poised to run for the ambulance. "One. Two. Three!" She made a break for it, unlocking the door before they reached it. She flung open the door and climbed in. She put the key in the ignition, but didn't start it. There was no need to attract more zombies.

Sarah bolted, all thoughts of pacing and restraint abandoned as the sounds of the horde grew louder. A few had stumbled into the street and charged their fleeing prey with awkward gaits and flailing limbs, deadly infectious nails slicing through the air. Sarah weaved through them, dodging those she could and dropping those she couldn’t with unbalancing strikes and quick throws.

Fatigue sank into her muscles, sooner than it should have, and halfway there her chest tightened as though someone had tied a cord around her lungs. She considered slowing her pace, just a bit, but fast uneven footsteps from behind urged her on. She was nearly there anyway, just two dozen feet to the line of cars.

She made to leap over the hood of one when the world spun, and she instead landed with a grunt, pliant fiberglass cushioning the impact. She rolled across and fell to the street, catching herself on all fours before she struck the asphalt. The infected behind her, thankfully not thinking to jump, bent at the waist as it hit the vehicle and slammed its head down. Sarah launched to her feet, snatched up her dropped duffle bag and sprinted the last few feet to haul herself into the ambulance, going slack the moment the door slammed behind her. Panting, she reclined against the seat and shut her eyes.

Faye knows that some people may be still alive after the virus rapidly spread through out the whole country, but it was unexpected for her to able to meet not only one, but five. Aside from that, there were also dogs that made her think she have seen them before. Placing that thought aside, she heard a girl introducing herself to her. Since Faye was already on a panic, she turned around to the green haired girl and introduced herself out loud while sprinting towards the street that has less zombies.
"You can call me Faye! C'mon! There's too many of them."

As Faye sprinted towards the other side of the road, there she saw someone familiar standing at the middle of the street.
A girl with a ginger like hair color. Where have I seen her? She tried to remember the time where she was at the hospital and there was an emergency. However, because of the ginger haired girl that was so good at driving the ambulance, the patient was able to arrive on time and was able to be treated by the doctors. Faye was just able to take a glimpse of the girl that time, but only through the window since she's a bit busy taking care of the other patients. They weren't really that close but the girl was a well known paramedic in their hospital that is why she knows her.

After a long thought, Faye had finally remembered who this ginger haired girl was. She was a bit relieved because out of 5 survivors that she has encountered, there was at least one of them that she knows. Phoenix was able to clear out the zombies that were blocking their way. The ginger haired girl then ran into the driver's seat of the ambulance and unlocked its door. She then hopped inside the ambulance just what Phoenix said and held the door open, waiting for the others to hop in as well.

"What a bad day to be old." Michael mumbled to himself. He quickly tailed behind the group and quickly went into the back of the ambulance. He unslinged his rifle and loaded it. He waited for the others to get in as he prepared himself to shoot any zombies down if he had to.

Phoenix anxiously waited for Dani to get in the ambulance. She could see her in the rearview mirror. A zombie missing an arm appeared from between two cars on the right. It lurched towards her, grabbed her with its remaining arm, and tore a chunk out of her neck with its crooked teeth. Bright red blood squirted out of the torn jugular. One thing that Phoenix had learned is that once someone was bit, they turned. She turned around in her seat to talk to the people in the back. "Close the door! We gotta go now!"

Michael watched in horror as Dani gets bitten by the zombie. It was a terrying scene but one that somehow in a way, Michael is kind of used to it. He hoped that it won't happened to this new group but alas, it had happened in front of his own eyes.

Michael quickly slammed the back doors shut and sit to the back near the front seats,
"There's going to be more I bet. Where are we going?"

Sarah’s brow furrowed. With her eyes closed she couldn't tell what was happening, but there was an urgency in Phoenix’s voice that hadn’t been there before their dash to the ambulance.

She twisted in her seat just before Michael slammed the doors. Just in time to see. A few months ago she would have been sick, but now… it was terrible what a person could get used to.

“East.” She was a bit relieved that her voice still wavered, at least. “Take this to Plodder and turn right.”

Phoenix began driving quickly and turned east as soon as she could. Several zombies banged on the side, and Phoenix drove faster. "Is everyone else alright?"As soon as she reached the road, Plodder, she turned right. "Now where?" She asked. Checking her rearview mirrors, she couldn't see any zombies that were close enough to be a threat.

"I'm good." Michael said as he settled onto one of the seats in the back. He laid down his bag and took a sip of water from his canteen.

“Yeah,” Sarah nodded. She was dead-tired now that the adrenaline was receding from her system, and her heart was still trying it's hardest to break out of her ribcage, but she'd be fine with a little rest.

“Stay on this until you see a BP station. It'll be in,” she glanced at the scenery blurring past and gave up on guessing a time, “...a while. Almost at the city limits. Turn left, then right again at the next intersection and we'll be on his street. It's a dead-end.”

She’d have plenty of time at least. With directions given and unable to fight it any longer, although she knew it was a bit rude, she began to doze off.

Michael kept his canteen and cooled himself down. He retrieved his Physics notebook within his suit. He wore his glasses and laid back a little before he began to read his notebook.

Koda and Angus fidgeted in the back. They were used to having the back to themselves. One dog would ride in the front passenger seat, and the other would stay in the back. Koda finally climbed up on the stretcher and laid down. His tail hung off the edge.

Phoenix thought the girl, Faye, was familiar. "Faye, right? Did you ever spend time at the hospital?"

Diann Byrne

Hours has passed and finding a good place to stay was hard. Especially now that the sky was turning into the dark shade of purple. Diann looked at their surroundings, there wasn't any of the zombies nearby and was good to go. She signaled Celine to come out from hiding by the trash can and motioned Celine to follow her. They've walking nonstop since they saw each other, no small talk was made because even if Celine talked Diann would just ignore her or gave the girl a glaring look.

They passed by an intersection and Diann was somewhat familiar with this street, she'd been here a few times when she was visiting her cousin, Layla, which was a good place to stay in. Layla claimed that they were going on a one month vacation last two weeks ago.
Perfect. Just what we need. Diann tapped Celine's shoulder and told her about the plan she had in mind. "I had a cousin who lived here on this street, we could stay there for a while and stock up on supplies. After that going to the woods might be a good place to start adventuring again, we can eat fruits which I hope aren't contaminated by whatever it is that's doing this." Diann continued walking as she explained to Celine her plan. Few minutes later Diann halted to a stop, her stomach growled loudly in the dark and quiet neighborhood. Ugh, so embarrassing... No matter people get hungry every time.

"We have to cross the street, I'll go first and you follow when I signal you. OK?" Diann walked slowly to the other side of the street, once she was there she looked at the windows to see if there were any moving shadows inside the houses since the electricity of almost every house in this neighborhood was lit up. Diann turned back to celine and gave her the go signal.

Faye quickly went to the back seat, near to Phoenix, waiting for the others to hop in. Meanwhile, she noticed a zombie approaching Dani's way. The zombie grabbed Dani with its remaining arm and took a chunk out of its neck. Seeing the blood gushing out from her neck almost made her throw up. She actually isn't used to seeing those things yet, although it may seem common, it was never a nice sight to see. Michael quickly slammed the doors close right after everyone safely hopped in.

Faye lets out a big sigh and looked at her medical bag, checking if nothing was lost. Her stomach growled causing he to blush a bit. She can't help it, she was really hungry after all. Faye just sat there, thinking if her mother and brother were still safe. She actually had no idea where they were supposed to go but that didn't matter, as long as she's safe, then she would be perfectly fine.

"Faye, right? Did you ever spend time at the hospital?" Phoenix said. Faye was a bit shocked as she heard her say her name. "Yeah, you're Phoenix right?" She said giving her a friendly smile. "I wasn't able to stay there cause almost everyone there already turned into zombies it even included my father so.." Faye had totally forgotten that her father was already one of those walking corpses. She tried to change the topic not wanting to make the moment awkward. "Soo, how long have you been working as a paramedic?"

Celine Montero

Celine's getting tired, there's no doubt about that, every tick of a minute, exhaustion catches up to Celine. If she would've been traveling alone, she would've never at least reached half of the ground she's covered with Diann but such was not the case. She'd rather have no strength left to walk rather than be all alone in such a time. Diann's been very reliable too, being able to do what Celine couldn't, lead. Hide here, hide there, follow me, wait here. Each command, Celine followed. She's already amazed as to how 'chill' Diann is with the situation.

The duo has been rather quiet, Celine maybe quite the social person but she's also the quickest to identify when it's right to talk to a person or not. Past experiences ever since the start of this outbreak was truly horrifying for her but her optimism blocks out any negativity and a smile is permanently etched unto her face to which, is the only thing she shows Diann at times when they do catch eye-to-eye. Celine wouldn't mind the silence till...

"I had a cousin who lived here on this street, we could stay there for a while and stock up on supplies. After that going to the woods might be a good place to start adventuring again, we can eat fruits which I hope aren't contaminated by whatever it is that's doing this." suggested Diann, breaking their silence. In reply, Celine gave a nod, smile still etched on her face. They continued venturing the streets, heading somewhere with a clearer goal in mind. Minutes later, Celine heard growling but it wasn't from any of the undead nor of any animal, it was from Diann. Diann's starving and so is Celine, a couch or any chair to sit on as she eats one of her packed meals would've been great for the time being but getting to a shelter with comfortable furniture and not having to turn your back every minute or two would've been better.

They'd arrived at a street, Diann volunteered to go in first just to check. She scanned the surroundings of the other side of the streets and then nodded, signaling that it's safe. Celine without no hesitation, scurried towards Diann, not noticing that a speeding ambulance was heading her way.

@Bluebell @Sweetronica @Kestrel @MrPotato

"I've been a paramedic for about...three years now, I think. Before that, I spent two years as a Search-and-Rescue dog handler. But then Koda was hurt, and he lost His leg and eye, so he had to retire," Phoenix explained. "My real name's Angel, but my fiance nicknamed me Phoenix, and its just kinda stuck."

As she drove, Phoenix noticed a shadowy figure out of the corner of her eye. It suddenly darted across the road, and Phoenix slammed on the breaks. It was a person.

Calypso

Diann was waiting for Celine to cross the road, she let her took the time silently listening to their surroundings. Celine was already halfway there when humming was heard and a light flashed at the corner of Diann's eye. It was a car. "Fu- Celine watch out!!!" Diann shouted out loud, it was unlike her but she didn't care. She ran to Celine, fast as she could, but the car was faster.

The car was hit the brakes and luckily Celine was safe. It was close, too close and even Ms. Positivity might be traumatized by the experience. Quickly Diann hurried to Celine's side, "
Are you ok?" Diann asked the poor girl, showing an emotion of care and sadness where in the last few hours she never gave the girl anything but an emotionless and irritated look.

Sarah’s head shot up, startled awake, and her gaze snapped to the figure in the street. Had they hit her? She was out of the ambulance in a flash, eyes sweeping the street. There was another girl running towards them, but her expression was too concerned and her movements too coordinated to be one of the Infected.

Sarah reached the front of the ambulance a moment after the other girl, her voice a bit louder than necessary in her panic.

“Is she alright?” She turned to one they’d nearly hit. “Are you hurt anywhere?”

"Stay here," Phoenix said to the rest of the group. She hopped out and approached the girls. "That ain't smart. I almost hit you. What are y'all doing out here?"

Michael had actually been sleeping while he was reading. He was startled when the ambulance suddenly stopped. His notebook fell from his grip. He picked it up, "What happened?!"

Diann Byrne

As soon as Diann came to Celine's side and asked how Celine was feeling she fainted. Diann was able to grab her, the shock of almost being hit must have been too much for her. A girl came out asking if we were ok, "Just fainted, no wounds." Diann said answering the blonde woman. No sooner did another one came, this time it had fire for her hair. "That ain't smart. I almost hit you. What are y'all doing out here?" The later asked.

Diann couldn't help but snap at the the girl's first statement. "
That ain't smart? Weren't you the one speeding through this road even if there wasn't even any of those stupid creatures?" Diann exclaimed, she even surprised herself that she would react that way to someone who didn't really do anything to her. Anger gone and simple frown was plastered on her face. "I'm sorry, it wasn't right for me to yell. We were going to take some rest at my cousin's house and stock up on supplies since no one is in that house. Again, I'm sorry for yelling at you." In a sincere tone Diann stated her apologies.

Diann took off Celine's back pack. Fate already decided that they would ask for help and so she will. "
Can we hitch a ride with you?" Diann asked the red haired girl since Diann won't be able to carry Celine and all of their stuff at the same time.
