Yin Cognates

iWriteAboutNothing

Wombats Beware...
Appearance: He's fairly unassuming at first glance. Most wouldn't even dare fit him in with a position with as arduous as a knight. He has the appearance of a noble's child. Thin limbs from years of lack of manual labor and completely clear skin have left him with a less than suitable build for his current position. He has lean muscle, but it's not fully developed. Most of his clothes are just a size too large. He has a rather extensive collection of belts to remedy this.

His hair is a bright, matte color and his eyes shine with the innocence of a sheltered mind. His shoulders are always loose, as if he knows he doesn't have enough muscle to fool anyone. His teeth are a pearly white, a staple from his privileged childhood. He has a small nose and slightly pointed ears, almost unnoticeable to anyone, even paying close attention. He can usually be seen wearing his favorite linen shirt and brown pants.

Name: Yin Cognates

Age: 19

Gender: Male

Sexuality: Homosexual

Hair color: Blonde

Eye color: Green

Height: 5'6"

Weight: 112 lbs

Body type: Ectomorphic

Scars: None

Nationality: Valaetion

Special Ability: He has a variety of small abilities. Yin is very nimble, able to navigate the tree tops of a forest with ease. He has enough psychic power to aid him in swimming better against the current, being able to snap his fingers to draw a spark to start a fire, able to fall five stories without breaking any bones, light communication with Pokemon (can understand 'yes' and 'no' and 'maybe so'), and has a very sharp eye, able to still make out silhouettes in near pitch-black. He has no "special" abilities to really speak of.

Weapon: His primary weapon is a bow and arrow. Under the case of an ambush or if the enemy gets to close, he switches to a dagger with a hook near the handle meant to easily disarm opponents wielding a sword. He still hasn't learned how to disarm opponents effectively.

Armor: He hates armor, usually going straight for metal pads on his knees and elbows, a pair of leather gloves, and a visor-less metal helmet. Under a normal confrontation, he will be forced to wear a metal chest-plate and gauntlets

Fighting Style: He is fairly weak, so will usually try to find an obvious weak point and use that to his advantage. If all else fails, he will fall back to his increased maneuverability to defeat an opponent. Although not the best in hand-to-hand combat, he is deadly from a distance. Lack of armor means he is much faster than a knight without a mount and he is a talented improviser. In straight contrast to his effectiveness from a distance, he is basically a walking corpse close-range.

Hobbies: He likes to carve wood, making small sculptures he stores in his knapsack to sell later. He is talented enough to earn enough to buy his groceries with his sales, especially considering most of his clients are common towns-folk. He makes his own bow and arrows, occasionally stocking up on arrows (cause making those is hard work for what they're worth). He knows how to fish and is almost scholarly-level literate, something he doesn't like sharing considering his family is not very well liked among the knights.

Quirks: He has only been a knight for a year. That said, he is not oblivious to most knightly traditions. He knows how duels work and knows how to behave around people of a higher and lower rank. That's the point. He is squeamish around blood, quite scared of dying. He carries a journal along with his carving knife, though he rarely writes in it.

Personality: He hates being called stupid or immature, though he may rightly deserve it at times. He's very friendly and easy to talk to, until he's angered, disappointed, or used. At times he can almost be considered flirty, but most flirts in return go almost completely unnoticed by him. He's quite oblivious as far as romance is concerned. He loves caring for towns-people and protecting peasants (his main source of income), often off on an errand for someone or camping as a guard outside of small towns and farms. He has a large appetite.

He almost always has a smile on his face, and doesn't have a very determined drive to advance anywhere. He tends to get a bit clingy around fellow nights, following or pestering them until they drop the hint for him to get lost (he's very familiar with annoyed comrades). Yin is fairly content with the position he has now, hiding that uncommon desire with his interest in carving. He has yet to see much as his time as a knight, so he still has that 'fresh' feel to him. It's easy to tell that he's new. He has a very easy-going personality. He hates talking about his family, and is quick to divert the conversation elsewhere if asked.

Bio: He was born into a harsh, strict noble family. In order to teach their children discipline and respect, all of them started life out as knights. The first child to re-gain their title as noble would inherit their parent's castle. Yin's younger brother inherited the castle, who wasn't very fond of his "lazy" older brother. Banned from home, he slowly learned how to make a living based on what skills he had to his disposal. Having dreamed of being a night since his early years of bed-time stories and plays in concert halls, he was never too bothered by his brother's hatred of his life choices.Hated by most of his family, he spends most of his time playing with the village children, carving, and caring for whichever town he runs into next. He is very well known among the peasants in Velaetia, but not by many else.

Pokemon: Eevee

Pokemon's name: Rex

Pokemon appearance: Just a normal Eevee with a green collar. The collar has a pendant with Yin's signature on it. Two small cuts forming the letter "y" on it.

Pokemon personality: Very similar to Yin in that Rex is very outgoing, but he is more wary of strangers. Though he tends to be more cautious, he is also far more lazy, preferring to sunbathe if yin ever enters a friendly scrimmage. Rex will take a duel seriously, but only after peeling his lazy butt off the floor first. He is very nimble and is an experienced close-range fighter, in sharp contrast to his trainer. he prefers cooked food over scraps, often seen sharing a meal with Yin. Despite appearances Rex at least attempts to be as loyal to his partner as he can manage. Rex wanted to remain a noble pet, something the two often argue about in times of frustration or anger (to the best of their ability, obviously).

Extra: Yin and Rex aren't really all too close, they are more like rivals than friends. Rex started off fighting for sport, so resented the fact that his trainer preferred the rugged lifestyle. Yin doesn't easily disclose his sexuality, learning quickly from a year of knighting that it was uncommon outside of his home kingdom. Yin is careful giving away which kingdom he is from, knowing very well it's reputation and dwindling presence in the world.
