An 18 hour flight from Glasgow was nothing at this point. Lauren had travelled the world with his band so this was his normal. What wasn’t normal exactly was the way the lead singer of their band, FLAVR, paced the private jet over and over until their bassist had to say something.

I need you to stop. You’re making me plane sick!” Nova never felt comfortable with planes, even with the international tour they are still currently in.

Javad was the first of the whole crew to get married, being with his high school girlfriend for this long, Lauren was surprised it took this long. It was wild to them that Javad and Mallory would have a destination wedding on top of it all. His birth parents wanted to go all out since… well Javad was given up for adoption. Their guilt made sense to turn into a lavishing 10 day event. Lauren wasn’t going to complain with the end of the tour meant “real life” was starting for them.

We will be landing in Cancun, Mexico in 20 minutes. Please fasten your seatbelts for the rest of the flight.” The air stewardess woke Lauren up from the intercom as his messy hair seemed to stick onto his skin. He needed a haircut but that was a future Lauren problem. Instead, he peered over the window to see the blue ocean and palm trees. Shit was getting real.

The band boarded off the plane together, a car just for their suitcases, as they were escorted to the normal customs procedure. It wasn’t a big deal for any of them, knowing the wedding was lowkey outside of the wedding itself. There wouldn’t be fans waiting let alone paparazzi. The cute game they played was “who can get through customs the fastest”, where they all pick different lines and see who gets out of there first.

Lauren picked the elderly couple struggling in from of them, taking a leap of faith if their cute elderly aura. It was funny how it worked. He was in and out of the line before anyone else, even with the old woman’s shaky hands on the passport scanner. So they waited, not seeing their bandmates in site as they leaned against the wall.

Instead, their eyes people watched until someone caught there eye. “Oh shit.” They mumbled through their smirk, “Hey, hey! For Mal and Jay’s wedding right?” They called out like trying to catch a taxi at the familiar face. “Holy shit, it’s been forever. How are you?

Procrastination station full stop. Despite her excitement for the trip, Persephone waited until far too long to pack the night prior so when morning came around, she was exhausted. Mornings never were her forte. She could barely manage with morning jogs, but it gave her the right amount of time to have a clear head, which was exactly what she needed for the day. Persephone dressed as casual and comfortable as could be for the drive and flight, a simple tank top and shorts, paired with a flannel she stole from Leon at one point. No, it wasn’t the cutest but she was damn sure to be comfortable on the flight. She stuck her head into the guest room where her cousin was staying, furrowing her brows. "I can't believe you aren't packed yet, usually you're the first one done." When Juniper didn't even look up, she blinked. "Junie? Are you even listening to me?" She asked, making Juniper jump. "Sorry, What?" Came the reply, making Persephone roll her eyes. "You need to finish packing, June. We leave soon." She said before exiting the room to check on the status of the others going with. She chuckled when Chelsea came bounding to her with Selene following. Persephone lifted her niece up and held her on her hip. "It's alright, Sel. I got her - go finish packing." She said, smiling at the toddler. Persephone had one more person to count, her housemate. Catching sight of him, she smiled. "Are you all packed or do you still have more to do?" She asked, switching the side the toddler was on so she could pull her phone out to check it. "We leave in fifteen, people." She called out so the others could hear her before heading to the kitchen to fix Chelsea a sippy cup of juice so she'd have it when Phoebe came to pick her up. Soon enough, Selene was saying goodbye to her daughter as their sister picked her up, making Perse smile.

Glancing at the clock she cursed softly. "Everyone pile in, c'mon." She called out, grabbing suitcases to put in the car. Once everything was done and the door was locked, Persephone was on the road making surprisingly good time to JFK International Airport. Persephone noticed Juniper was already up and out, making Persephone roll her eyes as she handed her keys off to Phoebe so she could drive the car back and house sit once everyone was out and had their things. Persephone didn't know how she managed, but she had gotten separated from everyone, making her sigh softly and shake her head. She went through the normal TSA things, all smiley and polite. Before she knew it she was at the gate waiting for the plane, boarding it when it was time. Persephone was no stranger to being on a plane considering her job, she could only hope she had decent seat neighbors. A little old lady sat one seat away from her, the middle being left open for some reason. "Oh aren't you lovely, dearie. You look like one of those models I see in my fashion magazines." Came the compliment. Persephone smiled politely. "Thank you, ma'am." She had responded. However, by the end of the first out of the flight, she wished she hadn't opened her mouth because Grandma never shut up. At one point, Persephone considered acting like she didn't know English but considering she had talked to the lady in the first place, that would've been a bad idea.

Honestly, Persephone couldn't be happier when they landed. She stepped off the plane and headed for customs, flashing her passport and making it through easily. She met up with Juniper after June had gone through customs and glared at her when she laughed at her. "You look like you had a fun flight, Perse." Juniper had teased, making Persephone groan. "I had a seat neighbor who just wouldn't shut up. The entire plane ride. I almost pretended I didn't know English just to get out of it." She said, making her cousin laugh which just earned Juniper another glare. Persephone stood guard of their luggage as Juniper changed clothes, idly checking her phone.Hearing her cousin speak up, she pocketed the device and glanced around. Persephone noticed Lauren and waved in greeting, nudging Juniper who looked at her confused before noticing Lauren. Juniper had waved with a smiled before turning her attention back to her phone, making Persephone roll her eyes and head outside, shading her eyes from the bright sun.

Why couldn't Leon shake the feeling that he was meant to be doing something right now? He wouldn't have set an alarm for so early if he wasn't, but he couldn't-

Before he could finish wracking his brain, his housemate's voice floated into the space, questions of packing not yet directed at him putting everything back into focus. Quickly, he rolled out of bed with a soft thud and began looking for his suitcase. Vague prayers aimed at no one in particular filled his head as he clung to the hope that he hadn't unpacked from his last trip to the Bahamas. If anything, they would just sniff test and do laundry at the resort and everything would be fine. A suit was another issue, one he'd have to deal with eventually but right now he had bigger concerns.

Managing to fish his suitcase out from the depths of his closet, Leon laid it on the ground and knelt down, silent supplications to his past laziness growing more urgent. The weight of it suggested that they should be alright, but the luggage could just as easily be filled with clothes as it could be with assorted trinkets they hadn't found a spot for yet. As he unzipped and opened it, Persephone's rounds reached him and he looked over his shoulder at her and Chelsea. "All good, prepared as always," he responded, the expression on his face making clear that he was talking absolute shit.

15 minutes was enough time to throw together an outfit for the flight, toss some shoes into his luggage, which thankfully did have semi-appropriate clothing in it, and maybe brush his teeth. They'd done more in less.

He... almost succeeded. If he hadn't spent seven minutes trying to find his vape, he would've had plenty of time, but his priorities have always been a little wonky. Whatever, he had a travel toothbrush and toothpaste, and there were bathrooms all over the airport.

    ~•~•~

One of Leon's - only - favorite traits about himself was that he fell asleep with stupid ease on long car rides and flights. If Perse and he'd been sitting together they probably would've talked shit for a bit, but she seemed otherwise occupied with someone's grandmother, and so he promptly knocked out. Going through customs is a shitty experience on a good day, and being half asleep does little to make it better. He made it through without being subject to a full cavity search, but somehow feeling more tired than he had before his nap.

Being alone wasn't exactly their forte, but Leon figured they wouldn't get much time to themself in the next ten days, so they split from Persephone and Juniper almost immediately. Looking up from his phone as he walked through the airport's main doors, he blinked at the massive Margaritaville sign staring at him from across the street.

His first mistake was checking the time. His second was pretending not to see the designated taxi section. His last was crossing the street.

Leon was never known for his brilliant decision making. He'd also never been much of a drinker; alcohol was too much hassle, too little reward. So how, exactly, he'd ended up sitting at the bar for nearly two hours and spending such an exorbitant amount of money in the world's most obnoxiously obvious tourist trap was lost on him.

"Yo, man, I gotta cross again to get a cab or can I flag one from here?" they asked the lovely man who'd enabled them for the better part of the afternoon, accent thicker and slower than typical. When the man - Gabriel? Alejandro? - directed him to the bench outside of the glorious establishment, Leon shot him a gracias and gathered his belongings. He walked in the general direction of where the dude pointed and immediately regretted everything he'd ever done.

Slow and steady wins the race. Using his luggage in the same way one might use a walker, he eventually made it out of the Margaritaville and to the street.

Flagging the cab was a relatively painless process. He supposed an evidently not-sober tourist was a favorite amongst cab drivers in the area for one reason or another. Stay awake, stay awake, stay awake. The mantra repeated in his head for the entire duration of the ride to the resort, attempting equally to save himself the embarrassment of being a useless drunk in front of the driver and the embarrassment of getting robbed blind in front of his... friends? Old acquaintances? Was it even fair to call them that when half of them probably hated his guts?

Who the fuck was even coming to this thing?

These were questions he'd worry about in a few hours when he actually had to deal with it; for now, checking in was all that mattered. The resort was gorgeous in the way that makes you feel both welcome and like your very presence was ruining the entire atmosphere. Standing - swaying gently, as though the slightest breeze might knock him flat on his ass - in the lobby, he simultaneously wanted and dreaded seeing someone he knew, partially because he didn't know who to expect other than the girls he came with and the happy couple.

Looking at Me

Was she overdressed? Yes.

Did she really have to get up at 4am to get her hair and makeup professionally done before her flight to Cancun? Absolutely!

Penny had a reputation to uphold, she had just been named to take part in the next Dolce & Gabanna show and she couldn't chance being caught by the paparazzi without looking her best.

Well, that is what she told herself, the truth was that Penny was going to see her old school friends, and some of these people she hadn't seen in years so she wanted to make a good impression, show them that she was doing well for herself and that she was still the perfect pretty blonde that she had been in school, but less needy and clingy, of course. What she would never admit is that for some reason knowing who she was going to see, made her feel like she was a teenager all over again, making her feel like she wasn't enough, like she wasn't worthy. It brought her back to living under her parents roof and hearing the constant fighting and ... she opened her eyes as she brushed the thoughts away, she was not going to think about that time, about her parents, it was good vibes and good vibes only.

After about 2 hours, her glam team confirmed they were finished and Penny thanked them, letting them out of her house before going back upstairs to get changed. Her eyes lit up as she twirled in front of the mirror in the dress that she had chosen the night before. This dress brought her back to the time she spent in Disney playing Sleeping Beauty and she needed all of them good vibes to get through the initial awkward catch up that was sure to come later on. As she slipped into her silver heels she heard a car horn sound from outside and checked her phone "right on time" she muttered to herself as she grabbed her suitcase and left her house.

-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*

Stepping off the private plane she had chartered and now four glasses of champagne in Penny was feeling a lot more relaxed and excited about the whole thing. As the flight crew put her bags into the car that was sat waiting for them, Penny took a quick selfie of herself with the plane in the background before getting into the backseat of the car.

"Oooohh i love this song" she practically squealed as Looking at Me by Sabrina Carpenter began to play on the radio and Penny sang and danced along in the backseat, a grin growing on her lips as she gave the performance of a life time for the poor driver. It didn't take long for them to arrive at the resort and Penny hopped out of the car still singing as she looked around in awe, she knew that Mallory and Javad had good taste and would spare no expensive but even just the initial view was more beautiful than she could have imagined.

Two resort workers, or at least Penny believed them to be, came out to meet her and offered to take her bags into reception for her. Penny thanked them in an absent tone not really paying attention to what they were saying or doing as she continued to look around, singing in a faint tone as she began to walk towards the hotel main building slowly almost as though she was in a trance as her eyes focused on the water beside her and her mind drifted off into the days ahead and what they would be doing.

Finally snapping from her thoughts, Penny suddenly looked around confused as to how she had gotten so deep into the resort. She checked either side of her and realized that her bags were not with her either. Running her hand through her hair, she thought hard about the last few minutes and remembered the people taking her bags but she couldn't remember where they had said they would take them too. She looked up towards the hotel and all thoughts of her bags vanished as spotted a familiar figure standing alone. Before she had time to even think about it Penny heard her own voice scream one word "Leon!!" as she raised her right arm to wave him in her direction.

Excited to see someone she knows, Penny started towards him with a skip to her step, a skip that probably wasn't the best idea in the heels she was wearing. Just as they reached each other Penny felt her foot land wrong, her hands automatically reached out to Leon in the hopes to steady her but it was too late and she had just enough time to close her eyes before she felt herself hit the water dragging Leon with her. A loud deafening splash confusing her senses as she hit the bottom of the pool.

So much for the glam

Ahhhh, the fresh smell of a clean airport. Anything was better than the looming scent of Axe and disappointment that filled the plane she had just exited, and Olivia was more than happy to be the first one off. A paid right that she didn’t have to foot - unless you consider entertaining a monotoned man’s midlife crisis as damage enough. The one thing about having gotten ready just an hour ago meant that she no longer had her bulky earphones perched on top of her head, leaving her exposed to the nightmare of noises around her. She had barely made it out of her terminal when she paused to check her phone for service. That brief moment was just long enough for a pipsqueak of child clung to her side - no older than five years old. Blinking a few times, Liv looked around just to make sure no one had out this gremlin up to it before even glancing down. In that span, the squeal of whining rung in her ears, and she cringed. No audible words, only what she could describe as a mandrake from Harry Potter. “Okay, okay,“ There was a soft frustration behind her voice, but she pushed the annoyance aside so she could uphold her duty to the airline. “Let’s find your parents.”

Only, instead of going on a manhunt for his oblivious parents, the redhead found her way to security. Luckily, this is where she found a single father trying to explain to the guard how he had simply misplaced his son, and how it had been almost half an hour since he’d last seen him. Swinging the little boy’s hand as they walked, she leaned down a little bit to whisper to him. “Don’t say anything. We’re going to sneak up and surprise your daddy,“ The little boy just nodded and sloppily wiped away tears with his free arm, even though snot was still gushing down his bloodshot face. The two men in front of them were so enveloped in their frantic conversation - security now on the phone trying to put out an APB for this child literally standing right beside him. One second, there was yelling, the next… the father let out a loud yelp when he finally noticed the pair. Olivia smirked at the sight, backing up a bit so they could have an actual reunion. The man took out his wallet to hand her money, to which she just chuckled and turned away. He even grabbed her hand.to stop her from leaving - ugh, the audacity.

Locking her green eyes to his brown ones, she shot him the most intimidating glare and made sure he got the hint. As soon as he let go, Liv took out her phone and called for a car, and let autopilot do the rest.

When she arrived to the resort, she let out the longest huff as the realization really set in. Not only would she be around people she hadn’t really thought about in years, but she had committed to it by agreeing to be a bridesmaid. There would be no ditching because she was bored. Oh, but this thought alone formed the devilish grin across her face: she would just have to keep herself entertained. The world was her playground, after all.

Rather than walking straight inside for check in, she allowed the employees to take her luggage while she did a little detour. Walking the long way, she had even passed her roommate for the week: Nate. “Get us checked in, yeah? It’s under Walters,” Just beyond his body, she spotted two other people she recognized very well. A happy balance of one person Olivia was glad to be around, and well… Leon. Her teeth tightened as Penny misstepped, and she actually pushed Nate a little out of the way to go and save her. Reaching down to fish blondie out of the 5-foot-deep end, she hoisted her up by the armpits. Once Pen was back on dry land, Olivia watched Leon flail for a few seconds. Hugging her friend closer to her to try and help her get back on her feet, she coldly barked at the villain in the pool. “Just—stand up, dumbass.” In the same beat, she carefully wiped across Penelope’s face to make sure she could see beyond mascara-stained eyes. “Oh, honey, let’s get you dolled back up inside, yeah? I’ll fix your makeup and do your hair,” Warmly smiling, trying to not raise any red flags as to how rough the model now looked. “Would you like that?” Looking back over her shoulder at Leon, she swiftly flipped him off after he stabilized and then gave her attention back to the person that actually deserved it.

Crazy Rap

".... so yeah basically thats how we could all die right now and that would be better than listening to that child" completely oblivious to the terrified passenger beside them, Nate continued to look out the window towards the wing with a small part of him praying to see a spark but alas they weren't meant to die that way, not today anyway.

It was 3 hours into the 3 hour and 45 minute flight and a child about two rows back from Nate had been screaming and crying since about 10 minutes after takeoff which as the high wore off and began to be replaced with drunkenness' had led Nate to spend the last hour saying his thoughts out loud about all the glorious things that could go wrong on this flight to the poor passenger sitting beside them.

Movement on the aisle caught their attention and he turned to face the stewardess with a smile on his expression as he once again lifted his left hand over his face to show the tattoo "HELLO" in greeting to get her attention "Can I have a whiskey this time please" he asked as he gave her back the five empty cans of beer to be thrown out.

Taking the small whiskey bottle and the glass from her, Nate sank back into his seat moving his shoulders in an almost happy dance sort of way, this happiness only lasted a couple of seconds, however, as the baby once again infiltrated his ears with its excruating screams. His body almost seemed to slump in defeat as he poured his whiskey into the cup and took a rather large gulp before placing it down on the tray.

"I wonder do they use this as torture" Nate looked at the passenger beside them. "It would be perfect, oh oh we could recreate saw and use it as constant noise in ........ hey man are you ok?" Nate's eyebrow raised as he noticed how pale and timid the man was "It's the noise isn't it I know I'm almost tempted to just yeet myself out too but we must nearly be there"

An announcement for cabin crew to take their seats for landing sounded over the intercom cutting Nate off and he could have sworn he heard the man sigh in relief but he knew it was because the crying was nearly over and in only 20 minutes they would be off the plane with no baby near them. Oh how glorious would the silence be

Once the plane had landed, Nate grabbed his bag and rushed out of the plane almost falling down the stairs in his haste to be on the ground. Putting his arms out wide he twirled in a circle laughing almost manically at the lack of crying he could hear. His seat friend rushed past him and as he looked in Nate's direction, Nate held up his right hand showing the words "goodbye" in his direction.

"What a nice guy, I hope he's at the resort" Nate spoke to himself as he walked towards customs. Thankfully the line wasn't too long and within 40 minutes of landing, Nate had got through customs, picked up his bag, met a friend of a friend who gave him all of the supplies he may need for the 10 days and was now in a taxi on the way to the Resort, less irritable and more stoned than he had been since he got on that flight.

"Merci" Nate exclaimed as he got out of the taxi and paid the man. He had only gotten his bags out of the boot before staff from the resort arrived to take it for him "Oh I could get used to this" he spoke out loud before slowly following them towards the reception, taking everything around him in as he walked.

"Livvvyyyy" Nate exclaimed as he saw her walking towards him, an overly big grin on his expression. "Aye Aye Captain" he saluted her before walking towards the hotel to check in for them, completely oblivious to what had happened behind him.

Once checked in as husband and wife she shouldn't have let Nate do it Nate took the key cards and walked straight to the bar to get a pina colada. As he waited for his drink it was only then that he saw what had happened, an eyebrow raised curiously as amusement took over his expression as he looked across the pool at Olivia holding a soaking wet Penny and Leon standing in the pool.

Reminders

vincenzo hsu

  • How long had he been stuck at the airport? How long had he been pacing around, waiting to speak with a live agent? Originally Vincenzo planned on taking the same plane as Mayan, but he wanted to avoid LAX at all costs. Go figure that this flight would be delayed anyway. He'd been up since two, maybe three in the morning due to the shitshow that was a post 9/11 airport. I knew I should have flown from Long Beach.

Vincenzo massaged the bridge of his nose in frustration before deciding to hang the hat (or in this case, the phone). He'd already bothered the desk attendant three times now, one for each hour that passed by without a word on the status of their plane. Between his inquiries and a rather annoying blonde woman, it was clear that the attendant was getting irritated so he abstained from asking on hour four of his delay.

Everyone around him seemed equally weary, most on their phones, but a not insignificant number of would-be passengers sleeping by their luggage. He couldn't blame them though. Between his early start and lack of sustenance, he was nodding off. He was not but a zombie when he stood up, mumbling a request to watch his things to the person next to him despite them having headphones secured around their ears.

He shambled to the nearest cafe, salivating at the thought of a bagel as a zombie would want to feast on some brains. The hunger was insufferable, dizzying even when combined with the AC that blasted through the airport.

Alas, it too had its delays.

The espresso machine was broken. The kiosks weren't accepting credit cards. The new hire burned several orders. That was nothing to say about the lines that stretched from every eatery within the terminal.

"DoorDash order for Steven J.?" the barista shouted.

Who the fuck is ordering DoorDash from an airport? he thought as the queue progressed.

"NOW BOARDING FIRST CLASS PASSENGERS FOR FLIGHT 2269 FROM SANTA MONICA TO CANCUN."

Shit. Shit. Shit. He checked his boarding pass as he finally came to the register, for once thankful that he had a late boarding group.

"Hey there! What can I get you?" the cashier chirped.

"Hey, I...um..." he closed his eyes, the anticipation killing the words in his throat.

    "Sir?"

    "Everything bagel with cream cheese."

"Will that be plain, blueberry, lox-"

    "Plain, please."

"And would you like that heated?"

"No that's fine," he answered forcing a smile.

"Alright, that will be eleven dollars and fifty cents. Would you like to pay with cash or card?"

"Card." He tapped his VISA against the tablet turned to face him, clicking quickly through the prompts and stepping to the side for the next customer.

"WILL VINCENZO HSU PLEASE COME TO GATE 22?"

Seriously? Now they decided to stop delaying the flight? The smart thing to do was cut his losses and wait for the inflight meal, but he'd waited over twenty minutes in line. He'd overpaid for the bagel by a good five dollars and his hunger was bridging into hanger.

The minutes felt like hours as he waited for the fated bagel, both the nexus and the remedy for his anxiety. He didn't dignify the thought that his gaze might have been a touch too harsh on the employee making his bagel nor the speed at which he snatched the bag from the countertop.

His ears burned as he scanned his boarding pass, kicking himself for all the earlier instances of bugging the flight attendant. There was no way he was flying back on this airline. Not with that woman's eyes boring holes into his back. I guess I could always swim home, he thought sardonically.

It wasn't long before he stashed his carry-on and took his seat, eager to enjoy his first meal.

Unfortunately, he'd knocked out on someone's shoulder before he could take his first bite.

    It was loud.

Music playing while people already sipping on alcohol and spilling their drinks all over their bags. It was weird to see it all in daylight instead of the San Francisco nightlife for the lanky bleach blonde male. Finn shuffled his backpack in discomfort as he sat at a bench eating a concha pan dulce in hand with a nice sugar sweet coffee to start sizing himself up.

He had no clue where to go now, just people watching as influencers all pose in front of the colorful CANCUN sign. The strong smell of a cigar caught his attention before the whistle did. A stocky man in a bright yellow taxi pointing at him and just yelling, “Where?! Where?”.

It took Finn a second to recognize he was being talked to, just enough time for the man to get out of the car and start grabbing his bags. “Uhh… Do you know… Azul Real-” Finn stumbled as the man was so insistent on taking him to his destination. He hardly had time to pull up the

Si si, I know.” He flung the passenger door open and Finn wasn’t going to question it. Finn’s first mistake was assuming there wasn’t another location called Royal fucking Blue. The taxi man starting to shout at the loading zone, advertising anyone to the hostel, “Azul Real! Azul Real!” A man of hospitality noticed the height of the out of place tourist and opened the front passenger seat instead to accommodate. “Very tall.

Thank you… Gracias.” Finn awkwardly did a casual bow, before ducking into the front seat. He squinted at himself in confusion. They don’t bow here, idiot…

Juno didn't really fly that often, she couldn't really afford it, nor did she really want to. The idea of being stuck in a tin can as it was hurtled at hundreds of kilometers per hour through the stratosphere wasn't exactly her cup of tea. What actually was the stratosphere? It sounded fancy, she'd have to google that, later... Anyway, the plane was fast and suspended in the air using some law of physics she didn't understand. The whole going on holiday thing wasn't exactly fun, either, which was definitely counterproductive. She was in a strange place surrounded by strange people. Had she forgotten something?! She'd gone through her holiday checklist a hundred times over, but there was always something she'd forget. What if she'd remembered everything, then her bag gets lost? Maybe she should just go back home--

Final boarding for flight 597 to Mexico...

Shit.
Well, it was either go or waste the £137 she spent on a ticket, plus however much a private hotel room was going to set her back. Stupid destination weddings. That was way too much stress. Maybe she'd finally get a tan! No... Juno didn't tan. Juno shriveled up like a sundried tomato. I'll just get married in the alley behind my apartment...

She scooted awkwardly down the centre aisle of the plane, knocking her backpack into the arms of disgruntled passengers. Stupid girl, one of the last to board, smacking everyone with her oversized backpack-- how the hell did that make it through customs? Surely it didn't fit in that dumb carry-on measuring thingy. What did you call those things? The little frames you stuff your bag in to see if it's small enough-- remember that video of the guy getting his bag stuck in there?

She clumsily stuffed her bag into the overhead compartment before plopping into her seat with the thud, taking a deep breath. They better have some good movies... This was gonna be a long ass flight and she wasn't going to be watching Real Housewives the whole damn time.

2 nature documentaries and a nap later, her plane touched ground. She jumped in her seat as the passenger beside her began enthusiastically clapping. Woohoo! The pilot didn't fly us into a mountain! She awkwardly clapped along. Was this good plane etiquette? What even was good plane etiquette? She kept her shoes on the whole time and she only cried once, that had to be a good sign... and 4 hours of shoe-wearing had to be a record for her. David Attenborough just has such a way with words...

She disembarked the plane, backpack slung over one shoulder, headed for the cool circular conveyer belt to hopefully find her suitcase. Unless Mallory was okay with her attending the wedding in her pyjamas, that suitcase was essential. Remember that video of those crabs that ended up on the conveyer? That was awesome. Man, I wish some crabs would show up right now... Little weirdos.

Who knew it was possible to day dream about crabs for half an hour? Well, it wasn't all about crabs. Crabs became bugs, because crabs are basically the bugs of the sea... well actually, 'sea bugs' would probably be the bugs of the sea, but those are actually isopods. They can grow up to 1.5 feat, that's pretty cool. Did you know they can eat an entire alligator corpse? Well, it takes them 51 days, but how long would it take YOU to eat an alligator corpse?

Alligator corpses aside, it was time to get the hell out of this airport. Juno was hungry and she sure as hell wasn't going to be paying airport prices for peanut M&Ms. She dragged her suitcase over the tiled floor, the wonky wheels bouncing along the grout. She'd been around WAY too many people, it was time to lock herself in her hotel room and lie in the dark until the welcome party began. Then, she'd drink enough to deal with the guests, go home, order a takeaway and sleep for 12 hours.

Oh fuck, customs. That meant she had to act normal. Why am I acting so nervous? Maybe I forgot to unpack my travel pipe bomb from the last trip. I can't leave the house without it. She sighed, joining a queue.

As she headed for sweet, sweet freedom, having fooled the TSA that she wasn't smuggling drugs into the country, she heard a familiar voice.
"Hey, hey!"
Oh God, I said I DIDN'T have a bomb!
As she turned, she saw the floofy haired man she went to highschool with, now with a goatee. He looked a little bit like a drug dealer, but he kind of always did. Well, he was an indie musician now, they all kind of looked like that. She smiled and waved, shuffling over, her suitcase almost tipping on the way.
"Hey! Uhh--" She began. Oh no, small talk.
"You look... different," She told him, "but in a good way! I'm uh, I'm okay. How are you?"

I swear that I'm doing my best

Nerves rattled his whole body from the moment he received his invite.

It had been years since he had last seen anyone from highschool. Even when he was attending highschool, it wasn’t like he saw many people to begin with. At first it was one or two days spent in bed, trying to find the courage to push through nausea to stand up and get something productive done to ensure his day wouldn’t go to waste. However, his health began to resemble a rollercoaster ride in an out of date amusement park. The unexpected twists and turns that tied knots in your stomach, followed by the painfully slow uphill climbs and followed by what feels like your drastic fall to death. So, those days turned into weeks, and escalated to months; up until the point where he spent two thirds of his high school years either within the fine white walls of a medical facility or staring outside his bedroom window from his bed, day-dreaming what it was like to venture the outside world once more.

So, yeh, it was safe to say he was nervous about seeing everyone. Once known and slathered all over the local news and yearbook at the sickly cancer teenager who was fighting all odds; his body rejecting every hair follicle, helping him to resemble a smooth naked mole rat, the chemotherapy making it beyond impossible to hold any food down had reduced him to skin and bone, and the energy that once sparked through his body had dwindled, only allowing him to surfice enough gusto to upturn his lips into a half assed smile upon his white, lifeless face. But, I tell you what, it’s amazing what not being sick does to a person. His face now full and tanned with rosey plump cheeks and hope in his eyes. His head now covered in luscious thick dark locks, celebrating their return along with every other hair strand that erupted from his pores in victory. And the greatest triumph of all was being able to free walk upon his own two feet without the need of assistance or with a walker or wheelchair. Beauty from ashes, a story of survival and healing.

Now, just don’t let it slip that you never had cancer to begin with like everyone thinks you did

The glare of the sun hit the pavement, reflecting upon his face. Sammy squinted, trying to find a solution to his current problem; how in the hell was he meant to get to this place? Having never had the chance to travel around America, let alone fly internationally, he really wasn’t one to be doing all of this on his own. His brows furrowed, his nose and lips crumbled into a frown as he gazed back down at his phone, attempting to make some sense of the directions he had been given. “Azul Real…” he hushed to himself under his breath, as if speaking the name of this place would cause it to magically appear right before him. Another pause followed but the deepening of his already deep brow, and confusion splattered across his entire face. He released another tutter under his breath, as if this strange continuation of speaking it’s name would manifest something, was interrupted by the sounds of a nearby taxi man.

Azul Real! Azul Real!

Wide eyed, Sammy’s head snap out of confusion and now alert with his surroundings. “Azul Real?” he called back towards the man. The enthusiastic driver nodded his head, waving towards him to lure him to his car. Well, he really didn’t have anything to lose, right? With bags in his hands, he hastily made his way towards the taxi driver who so kindly offered to take his luggage and place it into the boot of the car. Sammy thanked him before opening one of the back doors, climbing into the backseat. As he took his place, hands already clasped upon the fraying seat belt, brown doe eyes gazed upwards to find someone sitting in the front already. “Oh… h-hi,” he stammered over his words, his hands struggling to connect the seat belt connectors for a moment. “Are you uh… Going to Azul Real too?

Finn was pretty good at remembering faces, something he got used to doing with his mom’s tendency to meet up with… interesting folks growing up. So when another sucker person stammered his way into the taxi just as Finn did, he couldn’t help but analyze him. He couldn’t place a name to the face, maybe it was good there was no reunion this early.

Yup… Azul Real.” His low voice of uncertainty echoes while the clank of his chair moved forward to get his new friend more room. Their driver slammed the back shut before throwing the two tourists thumbs up to start the journey to the Azul Real hostel. “I know you, right? Or… my brother might know you? I’m Finn.” It was so easy for Finn to fall back into old habits, specifically bringing up his much cooler brother. It was formalities to shake hands but just as Finn pulled his hand out and reached over, the engine made a concerning noise. He only grinned to mask his concern before sitting straight forward, pulling up his phone for navigation that loaded so slow… He forgot he was in a foreign country for a moment, waiting for the spinny thingy to locate him. He had a terrible thought:

This is the perfect way to get robbed…

The taxi slowly moved out of the loading zone. Banda music played loud with the windows down. Finn’s initial worries lessened as his navigation loaded up, even if it didn’t follow the location of the taxi car. The smell of the ocean, palm trees swaying… For a second he didn’t worry about a thing, only to suddenly remember he had company other than the cigar stained driver. “So, you know Allison and Javad?” Finn couldn’t pull a better topic for small talk? Of course his fellow passenger knew the bride and groom. They were both going to the same resort for their wedding…

He could feel his cheeks warm from the dumb thing he just said. He needed to come up with better subjects when he sees people he actually knew. “I mean – which side invited you? Allison or Javad?” Finn made sure to look him in the eye, totally sticking the landing as the driver proceeded to go straight instead of turning with the busses Finn missed earlier.
