Name: Kildran Tusk-Faced Boar


Description: One of the more abundant animals of Zeldwa, the Kildran tusk-faced boar is a mid-sized mammal of the Suidae family that is mostly found in the countries of Kildra and Roadalia, and sometimes in the forests that border Libertia. Resembling a common wild boar, it typically reaches lengths of around 5 feet and heights of 4 feet, though some have been found to be larger in the deeper Kildran forests. Its relatively small size when compared to other wild animals of Zeldwa is not an indication of its ferocity, however. The nature of the Kildran tusk-faced boar is not a pleasant one, and the beasts often pose a danger to farmers and unwary hunters.

Multiple large, dense tusks protrude from its head and face, and the size and number of tusks on each animal is usually a good indication of the creature’s age. Younger specimens might exhibit only 2-4 tusks, while it is not surprising to find up to 12 or 14 tusks among the older, more vicious creatures.

History: After many unsuccessful attempts at domesticating the Kildran tusk-faced boar, they became heavily targeted in the game industry for their meat and tusks. In many areas of Kildra there is a boar-hunting season every year, which is often opened by the Queen’s hunting party and closed with a feast. Despite being hunted in abundance, they are not a rare or endangered species, and aside from making their homes in deep forests, can still be found on their outer edges and occasionally in the fields and meadows of Kildra and Roadalia.
