History: Isail comes from a declining old money family. When he was ten, he got into a plane crash that ended up killing his father and, unbeknownst to him, lodging a piece of toxic material into his skull that exacerbates his depression and nightmares. He apprenticed under an abusive wizard, where he also met his rival, Rosaia Namli. Upon completion of his apprenticeship, he bought a house downtown and installed a spellwriter in order to develop his own spells and potions. He eventually made a potion that kept him awake indefinitely, but not without side effects. After an incident where he blacked out in front of the board while presenting a research project, he is required to sleep at least once a week or he will be stripped of his license to practice magic. Isail's mother, Fidoria, runs the family estate and a publishing company known for fiction and a small, human interest-focused newspaper. His older brother, Maevus, runs the family's bank and is determined to prove that Isail was responsible for the plane crash that killed their father.

Nysia's childhood was split between time spent in her mother's awful care, and with a kindly neighbour, Januth, who nurtured Nysia's love of adventure and exploration. On her 16th birthday Nysia ran away from home, and started a life by herself, carving out a meagre living by running odd jobs here and there. She cultivated a love of creative endeavours, science, magic and travel, hoping one day to explore and experience the wider world. Though her childhood sometimes plagues her, she's worked hard to overcome the difficulties of her past.

They were eager for her to one day take over the family business, but Meg was determined to build a legacy of her own. After many discussions with her oldest friend, Pazon, the two opened Maverick Magics and Metalworks, transforming their office and workshop into a highly productive, profitable hub for magical production. Meg had one previous relationship, but they were forced apart long ago, and she could never bring herself to get over it. Instead, her family is the workers of MMM, and her elderly Airedale Terrier, Mal.

History: He grew up close with Megyrian Maellis, but his parents preferred for him to focus on his studies instead of socializing. Theirs was the first generation of his family to really hit it big, with his mother as the lead catalogue designer at a high-end department store and his father managing a local shipyard, later turning their wages into funds for business ventures of their own. When their fathers would bring them along to observe how they conducted business, they found each other's company more interesting, and they became fast friends. As he grew up, his parents pressured him and his siblings to excel in their educations and start high-paying careers. Pazon found himself more interested in sports and gambling, but it turned out that these avenues were what led him to his success. Through the connections he'd made over the years, he found his way into the world of business, and it was his connection with Meg that started MMM. However, no matter how successful it becomes, his parents still push him to take it further. He has a wife and two children, whom he loves dearly.
