Prologue

The skies are quiet as the stars sparkle, but do not speak. A tom that seems to blend into the night sky watches with reflective golden eyes before his trance is broken by a light and comforting voice. “Ravenstar, this leaf-bare is colder than normal. You shouldn’t be out here so late into the night,” the white she-cat meowed to the taller tom. Ravenstar did not turn and it seemed like her words would be lost on him until his deep voice broke the silence.

“Cloudpetal, Why do they remain so silent when we are suffering? Is it just us? Is our clan doomed to be broken once again?” He sighed as he turned his golden gaze away from the starlit sky. Cloudpetal approached the exhausted leader and allowed him to lean against her as she whispered comforting words.

“There is hope, Ravenstar. Starclan speaks in hushed words,” the black tom’s ears shot up and his mood lifted.

“You have spoken to Starclan?!” he exclaimed as the white she-cat was taken by surprise and almost lost her balance.

“I am not sure, but I have been seeing a foggy image of a small cat-like body waking against a mother that is not their own. I think perhaps this kit will be our answers,” she meowed. Ravenstar purred as he rubbed against Cloudpetal.

“I am lucky to have my sister as my medicine cat. Thank you, Cloudpetal,” she purred in response as the two returned to camp. The sky was still silent, but their spirits were singing.

Chapter one: Our Journey Begins

The camp seems busy as the sun sets at its highest point. It beams down on the cavern based camp as the cats within it begin to share tongues with fresh-kill deep in their bellies. Leaf-bare has recently passed and new-leaf finally shows with the greening of trees and the returning of prey. Skyclan seems content in their home hidden away within the trees just behind the borders of Shadowclan and Thunderclan. Inside the nursery, there resides a kit that refuses to open its eyes. It has already been three moons, but it has refused to even peak at the world that has brought it in. The small kit snuggles against the adoptive clan mother, Feathersong, before being nudged away.

"Now, now, little kit, I think it is time that you welcome the new-leaf," she purred softly to the kit who seemed to grumble in response. Reluctant, the kit stood up and opened its eyes much to the pleasure of Feathersong, a fairly pretty silver she-cat. This had been the kit's mother since the clan found it barely alive on the border where no clan resides. They had saved the kit, but, due to shock according to the medicine cat, it had refused to open its eyes. It was clear to see why Feathersong's light colored eyes sparkled with emotion.

The kit first decided to look at itself.

This is the clans camp. This is not cannon placement for skyclan, but is a possibility given the current story line.

Let us find out a little bit about our kit.

What is the kit's gender? (I just want to keep this simple given we are dealing with cats. I have met cats that are both, but it would be easier to just stick here)

> Male

> Female

What is the color of its fur?

> Enter a color or pelt type. (also add fur length like long, short, medium)

What is the color of its eyes?

>Custom color that isn't unlikely like no pinks. (hard to find images for unrealistic colors)

Chapter one

The kitten looked down at her short, blue/gray fur. It was soft still fluffed by kitten fur and had a unique tannish/orange underbelly. She found her fur rather beautiful and raced to check out the nearest puddle. Looking down into the puddle, she noticed her eyes were still changing color, but she bet they were going to be green from the way the color seemed to be forming. She tumbled slightly as she tried to turn around in excitement and tumbled on her rather long legs.

"Those legs will make you a swift hunter," Feathersong meowed and the kitten purred in delight as she got back upon her paws. Her adoptive mother was more silver, but the kitten could swear that they could be related though she lacked the stripes. She knew they were not by the voices that came in and out of the nursery from time to time asking about the strange kit which she had learned was code for her.

"You're finally awake!" a fluffy, black and white tabby tom barreled into the kittens side. This was his littermate and the only surviving kitten from Feathersong's first litter.

"Wolfkit, be gentle. She is getting use to her surroundings," Feathersong meowed and the kitten wondered why she wasn't related to the pretty silver tabby, but this ball of fluff was.

"Desertkit, come see!" a rather tall, kit with a spotted coat approached the two. He is as tall as Wolfkit was wide, she thought as she gazed at him. Well, my legs are longer, she decided to add to herself. Desertkit's mother did not seem to be around and Feathersong was looking after him.

"Well, it was about time," he responded, though showed little interest in the scene. Wolfkit was the first to speak up after a moment of silence.

"We should go play out in camp! Can we show her the camp, please?" Wolfkit begged Feathersong, who looked weary about allowing the three to go out.

"Okay, but be careful," she meowed and the three bounded out of the nursery. There were many cats out in the camp that all appeared to be chatting and sharing tongues while the sun was at its highest. She was amazed by how many smells were in this one area. Many cats turned to watch her and she started to shift uncomfortably until....

Chapter one

Many cats turned to watch her and she started to shift uncomfortably until Wolfkit barged in to her, on accident, and she was tossed into the fresh-kill pile. The sweet scent of prey could not hide the feeling of complete embarrassment she felt. Duskkit thought about just seeing if she could bury herself into the pile of dead carcasses, but knew that it would only lead to someone dragging her out. Her ears could pick up whispers and sighs of disaproval as she uncloaked herself from the pile and tried to keep her eyes leveled. Wolfkit seemed oblivious to his mistake, but she saw no reason to make him feel bad when he had only been so welcoming.

"Wolfkit, you should be more careful," the deadpan meow of Desertkit lectured the fluffy tabby. Wolfkit looked at his paws before turning to apologize to his adoptive sister.

"I'm sorry, Duskkit. I got so excited!" he meowed barely able to keep the infliction out of his meow. Duskkit only purred and swatted him playfully over the ear.

"It's Okay, Wolfkit," she meowed before being interrupted by an angry meow.

"What do you think you are doing?!"

Chapter one

Duskkit turned around squinting her eyes anxiously awaiting her punishment.

"Father!" Wolfkit squeaked and Duskkit opened her eyes in relief. The fluffy warrior's voice was harsh, but his gaze was sweet and loving towards the three kits. Duskkit knew his scent well. He was a fairly involved tom towards his mate and kit and she even liked to think he cared about her to. Raccoontail's question had still not been answered, but Duskkit decided it was best to allow the more active kit to respond.

"Duskkit opened her eyes so we were showing her around," Wolfkit responded energetically. It was clear to see were he got his cheerful personality as soon as Raccoontail responded.

"Wow! Congratulations Duskkit! What a fine warrior you will make," he meowed with so much joy as if the kit was his own. Duskkit felt warmed by the tabby warrior and felt herself puff up her chest in response.

"Even so," Raccoontail started turning to look sternly at Wolfkit, "You need to be more careful. The other cats do not appreciate having kits roll all into their food," his eyes tried to stay stern, but Wolfkit's sad, downcasted face caused the tom to quickly fluff Wolfkit with a bushy tail. Wolfkit's laughs were muffled as he was overcome with the powerful force of a floofy tail. Raccoontail stopped, but Wolfkit still jumped after his tail as he finished speaking.

"I can't get on to you adorable kits. I have a hunting patrol to go on, so stay out of trouble," he purred before getting up to leave causing Wolfkit to trip on his father's tail and fall flat on his face. The little tabby kit didn't miss a beat as he quickly begged his father to go with him, but was rejected and turned back around to the other two kits.

"He said no," Wolfkit told them as if his expression didn't speak loud enough. "So what should we do?" Duskkit looked around. She had a lot to see and a lot she could do. The whole world had opened itself up to her when her eyes opened, but she was at a loss.

Chapter one: The End of Kittenhood

Duskkit waited for the other two toms to decide where to go, but both looked at her for the response. It made sense since she had not been around the camp before and had her eyes closed for such a long time. Duskkit started looking around the camp. It was so big and she was just so small. She noticed the multiple dens with each having a unique smell to it. The nursery usually smelt of milk, but the other dens held a different trait to them. She found herself drawn to a den that seemed to hint at having younger cats in it as well. It was like the scent of milk was fading, but the cats within it had just left the nursery.

"Can we go to that den?" she asked politely as she pointed her tail to the stone den that resided next to another den of stone that was much larger. Wolfkit's eyes grew large as he bobbed his head quickly.

"That is a great place to visit!" he meowed, though Desertkit did not share his enthusiasm. "Maybe Harepaw and Mudpaw are in the den!" Wolfkit didn't bother to wait to see the others agree as he raced ahead towards the den. Desertkit walked much slower as he waited for Duskkit to follow beside them. The fluffy tabby was already in the den when the two made it and he was chatting up a storm about something.

"Oh, here she is!" he meowed, hinting he had been talking about her to the two larger cats. They weren't nearly as big as Raccoontail, but they were at least twice the size of the kits. Duskkit could sort of guess who was who before Wolfkit introduced the two.

"This is Harepaw," he pointed to a pretty dusty colored she-cat with light green eyes. She had a very fluffy tail that seemed longer then the rest of her fur. "and this is Mudpaw," the tom bowed his head to Duskkit and she noticed how wide his dark stripes were. They almost covered his whole brown pelt. His eyes were also green, though brighter than Harepaw.

"It is great to see you are up," Harepaw said sweetly to the young kit.

"Yeah. We were wondering if you had eyes," Mudpaw joked, but it was gentle and it made Duskkit purr.

"So you are apprentice?" she meowed and they nodded.

"We became apprentices right before you showed up," Mudpaw began. "We have already been so for about two moons now." He looked proud and it made Duskkit excited to be an apprentice. She thought these two were quite friendly, but the friendliness soon vanished as she scented new scents entering the den.

"Kits!" she heard a hiss and she turned around to see a tortoiseshell she-cat enter with her nose twitching in disgust.

"That's Speckledpaw. She is about a moon older than both of us," Mudpaw meowed. "and crankier," he joked, but Speckledpaw didn't seem all too please with Mudpaw's whispering.

"Shut your muzzle, Mudpaw!" she growled and Duskkit couldn't help, but duck away to avoid her tongue.

"Speckledpaw. Did you meet Duskkit? Remember, the kit that Ravenstar brought from the river," Harepaw meowed as she lightly stroked the she-cat's side. Harepaw must of had some magic abilities, because Speckledpaw seemed to settle down before turning to look at Duskit.

"Another non-clan born cat. Aren't we enough?" Speckledpaw sighed before going deeper into the den. Duskkit felt a slight ache in her chest as she wondered who else thought that way. She had only meet cats that seemed to be really friendly and treated Duskkit as if she was one in the same, but Speckledpaw made her realize that perhaps not everyone thought that way. She looked around at the warm, sympathetic gazes of the other cats and felt herself wanting to crawl back to the nursery.

"Why don't you go ahead back to your den?" Harepaw suggested and Duskkit wondered if she had read her mind. The three nodded with even Wolfkit not making a big deal about it. Duskkit felt very tired all of a sudden as she dragged behind Desertpaw. She kept her eyes downcast as she feared the looks she would see on the other clan cats' faces.

"Did you have a good time?" Feathersong's soft voice told Duskkit she was back in the nursery as she quickly picked up pace and nuzzled herself into Feathersong's belly. Feathersong purred, appreciating the affection from Duskkit. She started to rasp her tongue over her two kits as Desertkit returned to the other side of the nursery where his own mother, similar in pattern to him, was beckoning him for a bath. Duskkit found herself wanting to ask Feathersong if she belonged here, but she knew that the sweet, gentle queen would tell her she did, but that seemed rather bias. Instead, Duskkit nuzzled next to Wolfkit and Feathersong as she fell deep into a comforting sleep. She would worry about belonging later.

Since this is the end of chapter one, we don't really have any actions (since we are doing a time skip). Instead we have create a clan cat time

Create-A-Cat

Rules to this: This time around I only want warriors for Skyclan. One made per-person. These could potentially be mentors for the three kits.

Deputy is allowed to be made since they would also be a warrior, but only the first person to make deputy gets the deputy and all others will be changed to warriors.

I only need image and personality. It can be really simple, but I will fill in the rest.

Chapter Two: Make an apprentice out of you

Duskkit had never felt so nervous before... I mean there was that one time in the apprentice den, but that didn't matter now. She puffed out her chest to try and make herself look large in the puddle outside the nursery. Looking at her reflection, she noticed some dirt on her fur. Mousedung! Wolfkit must of rubbed some off on me, she sighed in defeat until a rough tongue went over it to clean it. Feathersong had walked up from finishing cleaning Wolfkit to assist Duskkit in her grooming.

"Thanks," Duskkit meowed letting out a squeak due to being so anxious. Feathersong purred as she finished.

"You are much easier to bathe than Wolfkit," she joked as she rubbed her head against Duskkit's. They stayed that way for a second allowing Duskkit to breath in unison to Feathersong.

"You will do fine. You are going to make a fine warrior," she encouraged her daughter before giving one last rasp of her tongue on the kit's cheek. Duskkit nodded as Feathersong walked over to stand by Spottedthistle who seemed to roll her eyes at the other queen. Spottedthistle never did care for Feathersong's way of parenting. She told her that she should treat kits like the warriors they are meant to be and not the kittypets she was raising them like. Duskkit preferred her mother's way of parenting. She had seen Spottedthistle's expression of love and Desertkit could keep it.

Duskkit looked back down in the puddle. She had grown so much these past moons. She was still the smallest out of the three friends, but she looked like a part of the clan and not just an inconvenience. She gazed over to the Tall Stone where Ravenstar seemed to be already preparing to lead them on a new path. Wolfkit had already bounded over and Desertkit stood tall next to his mother as she whispered something encouraging in his ear. Feathersong had a harder time making Wolfkit sit still, but she didn't seem to mind his excitement.

"I need to join them," Duskkit told herself as she walked over. Today would be the day she became an apprentice.

We made beautiful cats and now it is time to pick the Mentors of our three apprentices. Their mentor could determine the path these three kits take, so pick as a leader would and decide what cats best suite these kits.

Who will be the mentor of Duskkit, Wolfkit, and Desertkit?

> Ravenstar (the leader)

> Copperleap (the deputy)

> Cloudpetal (the medicine cat)

> Sparkshadow (The senior warrior)

> Silverthorn (the ambitious warrior)

> Beetleroot (the lover warrior)

> Mouseswipe (the patient warrior)

Chapter Two

Duskkit gazed up at the leader, his tall stature making him look as if he reached into the tree tops. His gold gaze rested on the three kits and Duskkit felt herself shiver. It was as if he had so many expectations for them and she feared she would not be able to fill the plans he had made. Even so, she gulped as he beckoned for Desertkit to come up first.

"Today Skyclan shows our growth in the form of kits," Ravenstar called to the cats  that already were attentively listening. Duskkit felt her paws itch with excitement as his voice rang out. Looking down at Desertkit, who now stood beside him, Ravenstar began.

"Desertkit, you have reached six moons and so it is time that you be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Desertpaw," The clan called out his name before being silenced by Ravenstar with a mere flick of his long black tail.

"Your mentor will be Sparkshadow. I hope she will pass on all she knows to you," Sparkshadow approached. She seemed well aware of the fact she would be a mentor, but she still looked quite proud. Duskkit couldn't help, but think he was rather lucky since the warrior was similar to Desertpaw and would probably be very wise in her teachings.

"Sparkshadow, you are ready to take on an apprentice. You had received excellent training from Jaystalk and you have shown yourself to be patient and observant of your surroundings. You will be the mentor of Desertpaw, and I expect you to pass on all you know to him," Duskkkit shook her head as she thought of the possible choices of her mentor. Just please don't let it be Silverthorn, she begged. The silver warrior didn't like Duskkit much and he probably wouldn't treat her fairly. As Duskkit looked back, Wolfkit was already on top of the tree stump. He could barely keep still and Duskkit couldn't help, but feel proud of her adopted brother.

"Wolfkit,  you have reached six moons and so it is time that you be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Wolfpaw," Ravenstar paused as a loud WOLFPAW rang out in the crowd above the other cats. Duskkit could hear a sigh from Feathersong knowing it was Raccoontail. "Your mentor will be Copperleap. I hope she will pass down all she knows to you," the older deputy stepped up

"Copperleap, you are ready to take on another apprentice. You have trained many cats into great warriors, and you have shown yourself to be Wise and Fair. You will be the mentor of Wolfpaw, and I expect you to pass on all you know to him," They approached each other and she touched noses with Wolfpaw. Now Duskkit couldn't help but be jealous. He got the deputy as his mentor, she grumbled in her head. Even though she was jealous, it was rather suited since the older she-cat would be more experienced in dealing with the hyper apprentice.

"Duskkit," Feathersong whispered and Duskkit turned back to see she was looking up at the stump. Feeling slightly embarressed, Duskkit scrambled up the stump and almost tripped into place. Luckily, she caught herself and settled in front of Ravenstar. He smiled down at her and it calmed her racing heart.

"Duskit, you hace reached six moons and so it is time that you be apprenticed," Duskkit felt her heart pound in her ears as he spoke. "From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Duskpaw," Duskpaw. She chanted her on name and listened for it to be called among the other cats. She could pick out a few voices like Wolfpaw and Desertpaw and even Raccoontail, but she couldn't help but think that the clan seemed more silent towards her.

"You will be mentored by me, Ravenstar and I shall pass down all I know to you," he meowed and Duskpaw fell speechless. She thought she heard a gasp of surprise from the crowd, but was too distracted to know if she really did. Ravenstar bent down and touched noses with Duskpaw and she couldn't help, but purr. She couldn't help, but feel so lucky to be the apprentice of the Leader. As the finished touching noises, the cats started calling out the apprentices' names one last time. Duskpaw didn't bother to compare how many times her own name was said among the others, she felt proud and satisfied. There was nothing that could take that away from her.

Chapter Two

As the clan settled their cheering, Ravenstar flicked his tail as a call to end for the meeting. Duskpaw watched her new mentor still slightly in shock he had chose her of all the apprentices. Desertpaw would be much more suited as his apprentice, she thought before Wolfpaw came running forward. He purred and rubbed his face against hers in a greeting. She felt like his own excitement would increase hers as he pulled away.

"I can't believe we are apprentices to the clan leader and deputy!" he exclaimed. Duskpaw looked around for Desertpaw, but the apprentice seemed to be listening to something his father was saying. Silverthorn just made her feel weird and she shook the thought away.

"Yeah, I can't believe it either," she agreed with Wolfpaw. Desertpaw soon joined the three, though he didn't add much in the terms of conversation. Duskpaw was just happy to see he wasn't told that as an apprentice he shouldn't hang around her anymore. She felt like the silent tom really helped to balance the trio.

"Wolfpaw, Duskpaw, Desertpaw," Copperleap called to them from beside the fresh-kill den as the three bounded towards her. "Are you hungry?" she asked them. Duskpaw's stomach still felt jumbled and she couldn't imagine keeping down food so soon after her apprenticeship. She shook her head along with Desertpaw while Wolfpaw grabbed a mouse without a second thought. Duskpaw cringed, wondering if the deputy would get on to Wolfpaw for not being told he could eat, but she just watched him finish before she spoke.

"We are going to go on patrol since the patrols are all rather filled and we seem to have a little time to show you around the territory, at least," she meowed. There was something light in her tone as if she was teasing them, but Duskpaw figured she was missing something.

"This will be amazing! We get to go on our first apprentice training together!" Wolfpaw pretty much summarized what they already knew. Copperleap purred at her apprentice's enthusiasm.

"I hope you have that kind of excitement even when looking for ticks," she meowed before motioning them to follow her. Wolfpaw made a nasty face at the thought and Duskpaw couldn't help, but laugh to herself. She even thought she saw Desertpaw give a slight smirk, but he would probably never admit it. Ravenstar and Sparkshadow were waiting at the entrance for the others to join. As Copperlead bowed, the patrol started out the camp. This would be the first time I've been out of camp, she thought not counting she was technically born out of camp.

"So which way are we going?" Wolfpaw meowed. "Is that mouse? Can we hunt?! Are we going to make it back before the sun goes down?" Wolfpaw's questions flowed out his mouth like water on a Riverclan cat's pelt. Duskpaw felt herself cringing again, before noticing the patient expressions of the three other cats. The were all some of the oldest cats in the clan with Sparkshadow being quite a bit younger, but even she had an experienced way about her.

"Probably, Not now, and depends." Copperleap answered three of the four questions. "Why don't you guess which way we are going?" she meowed to Wolfpaw and the patrol stopped. Wolfpaw's eyes grew with panic and Duskpaw wanted to help, but even she wasn't sure. How do you figure that out?  She questioned herself as she started to think of the answer too. She looked towards Desertpaw who had his nose in the air sniffing. Can I tell by scent?  She considered. Lifting her nose to the air, she started to see if she could notice any scents. There was prey scent, a mouse (like Wolfpaw said), and another patrol... Her eyes grew wide as she looked over at Desertpaw, who just nodded as if he knew everything. Wolfpaw was still in shock due to being put on the spot like that. He couldn't seem to think properly.

Duskpaw felt herself shift... What if I am wrong, but what if I am right?  she looked back at Desertpaw, who stood quietly. He seemed to be giving her the chance to speak up, but she felt herself freeze. At the sametime, she hated to leave Wolfpaw without a leg to stand on. What should I do?

Chapter Two

Copperleap was still waiting patiently for a response from Wolfpaw who looked as if a piece of fresh-kill was caught in his throat. Desertpaw remained ever silent, unwilling to step in or maybe he just didn't see a reason to. Sometimes Duskpaw wondered if he didn't realize how cold his personality could be. Well, unlike Desertpaw, Duskpaw decided she should speak up. He is my litter-mate afterall, she thought determined. She figured there was a high chance she would be wrong, but she had decided to take a chance and humbly accept if she was wrong or right.

"I think I might know," she responded in a slightly whispered voice. Wolfpaw looked over to her with eyes of pure relief like Starclan had shown him their hunting grounds. All three mentors turned to look at her with expressions of intrigue. It made Duskpaw think she had become the prey and she now understood why the usually energetic Wolfpaw had froze up. She felt her skin under her fur burn as she tried to pull of the courage to speak with confidence, though she didn't want to seem to presumptuous either.

"Well, I was thinking that perhaps we would use the lake and the rivers or streams to be able to tell which way we are going," she started. She kept her eyes gazing up at the three mentors as she looked for signs that she was on the right track, but they all remained empty to answers, so she continued. "The watery areas have to smell different like murky or with a hint of fish, so if the scent was strong that would mean we were headed towards the lake. The sound of water running could also be an indicator that we were coming close," she finished her thought with a gulp as the mentors looked towards each other with some mutual thought between the three of them. She glanced at Wolpaw who seemed to be considering what Duskpaw had said and then at Desertpaw who seemed rather impressed with the answer she had given. I guess that means that isn't what he was thinking, she thought as she recalled he had nodded as if they had had the same thought.

"That is a rather unique answer for such a young apprentice," Copperleap spoke as she turned to let Ravenstar walk forward.

"It was well thought out and I appreciate that you were willing to answer even though you could be wrong," Ravenstar praised Duskpaw. The she-cat felt herself glow as she dipped her head in thanks for the praise. "Even so," Ravenstar began again and Duskpaw realized she had not been right, but Ravenstar's warm tone did not seem to be scolding or at least was not starting out that way.

"the lake and river are not the best indicator to the exact direction we are going since we have two streams on both sides and the lake ahead. A trained cat could figure out which direction we were going with that, but there is a much easier way that even you three could know from growing up in camp," He finished and it made Duskpaw start to think. Desertpaw pointed his tail once again, but decided to speak out this time.

"The previous patrol went towards what ever border is that way, so I assume we are going this way," he meowed without a single tick of anxiety in his voice. It sort of made Duskpaw envious, but she realized she could learn a lot from Desertpaw. Maybe it is because he has such intense parents, she considered.

"That is correct," Sparkshadow meowed having been quiet most the exchange. "and we should probably head towards that path. Which leads to the Shadowclan border," she added as a way to provide some information. Ravenstar and Copperleap nodded in agreement as the group started to move forward. Duskpaw's mind still reeled with information.

"That was very good thinking, Duskpaw," Ravenstar had slowed to be next to his apprentice.

"But I should of just thought more simply. I over thought it," she meowed, though she didn't seem to down on herself.

"True, but your ability to overthink will be a valuable asset in time where simple thinking can only get you so far," Ravenstar encouraged before walking back up to Copperleap who seemed to have something to inform the leader. Duskpaw felt good about speaking up and she could feel her confidence growing. Even if I am wrong, I am going to try everything until I know it all! Duskpaw encouraged herself before catching up with Wolfpaw who seemed much better now.

The scent soon became strong as they must of approached the border. The mentors had stopped and were speaking which gave the apprentices time to take in their surroundings. Duskpaw could smell a strong tang in the air that made her want to gag as well as prey and other things. Wolfpaw already seemed to be exploring a pile of leaves nearby and Duskpaw, with a new found sense of confidence, wanted to explore around her as well.

Chapter Two

Duskpaw followed her nose towards a sweet scent that lead a little bit a ways from the awful smell of the border. It smelt familiar like something she had scented as a kit and she found herself drawn to it. The mentor's seemed rather distracted and their voices were just mumbles in her ears as she focused on her target. A mouse scuttled across the grass, but even that did not budge Duskpaw's focus. When her nose reached the scent at its' strongest, Duskpaw surveyed the little green stalks. They were rather short and slightly out of place it seemed. Their leaves were really tiny and it was rather bright green meaning it was still rather new. The scent was enticing and Duskpaw found herself wanting to try the plant for herself.

"What is that?" Desertpaw interrupted her thoughts as he had apparently gotten tired of sitting around by himself. Duskpaw shook her head to show she wasn't sure as the taller tom leaned down to give the plant a quick whiff. He wasn't as drawn to it as Duskpaw, but he seemed to be pleased by its' scent. "Maybe it is some type of herb," Desertpaw suggested and Duskpaw agreed once again amazed by Desertpaw's quick thinking. She wondered if perhaps it was edible. Maybe I had it as a kit, she thought before Wolfpaw came prancing over having noticed the other two gathered.

"What are you two starring at?" he pushed through and sniffed the air catching the plant's sweet smell. "That smells delicious!" he meowed as Desertpaw quickly placed a paw up to stop Wolfpaw from continuing forward. "Hey!" Desertpaw glared at Wolfpaw making the overly energetic tom sit down in a slight pout.

"It isn't safe to just eat things," Desertpaw commented and Duskpaw could see what he meant, but she also felt like Wolfpaw and wanted to try it...

What should Duskpaw do with the plant?

> Report it to the Mentors.

> Take a small bite

> Let Wolfpaw take a bite

> Write in.... (this can be something totally different and not concerning the plant)

(This one is rather small, so I will probably write another one tomorrow if this gets enough responses)

Chapter Two

Duskpaw decided against her urge to eat the plant and instead she sighed and decided it was best to inform the mentors.

"I will go ask and see what it is," she meowed to them while narrowing her eyes at Wolfpaw. "Don't you take a bite out of it until I return," she meowed playfully before walking off towards where the mentors were still congregating. The seemed to be talking about scenting cats teetering on the edge of the border.

"Do they think we are ignorant?" Sparkshadow growled. "It is like they are testing how far they can get before we say something!" Copperleap nodded in agreement while her own mentor and leader seemed to be hiding his thoughts. "We should teach them a lesson! How dare they try and make fools of us!" Ravenstar rested his tail on her shoulder to calm the she-cat and Sparkshadow settled down.

"I know how you feel, Sparkshadow, but we cannot do anything without catching them in the act... Do not worry, we will show them that we can protect our own borders." he meowed before turning towards Copperleap. "We will need to double the patrols along side the border and tell them to be very quiet in order to catch a few tails of them," Ravenstar instructed before turning around to see Duskpaw. The other two turned to look at the young apprentice as well.

"I'm sorry," Duskpaw meowed in apology, but Ravenstar just purred in response.

"I see you have a question," He meowed,"What is it that you are curious about?" Duskpaw had sort of forgotten about the plant while overhearing what she had just heard and found herself curious about what had occurred.
