The Arrival

You received the invitation, or found one, or killed for one. Either way, You made your way into the basement in the Wooden Dagger Pub in the sleepy town of Lystol. What you found was... a bit different from what you expected. A group of misfits with little direction beyond their leaders basic instructions: Take Missions off of the job board, and make The Blue Moon Company known again.

Your leader, Tome, has left on other business, business that will send him abroad for quite some time. He's left it up to the members of his company to elect a temporary leader and to continue the good work of The Blue Moon Company until his return.

As you and your comrades size one another up, several missives flutter on the job board, revealing one from the depths that Tome seemed to have overlooked shortly after posting it.

Eltrial Halfson awoke with a start, the same old dream haunting him. He shook his head and shivered sitting up slowly. He groaned, he was so used to sleeping on the ground, his body felt sore after being on a softer bed after so long. He pushed himself to his feet, and pulled on his leather leggings, lashing them tight with his heavy belt, the kilt pieces falling to his sides as he stood up and secured it. He reached down and slid on his boots, tying the cords that held them in place tight. He thought back to the shoes he had seen before, and shook his head. They were ridiculous, but he still wanted to try replicating them.

Leaving the storage room he was using as quarters, he made his way into the center common room, where the main table was they had interacted at the days before. There, on the table, was a knife, with a note.

Gone on a mission, Back after a while, Keep the Company Running while I'm gone, One of you needs to run things while I'm gone, Best of luck.

With a grunt, Eltrial scratched his head, "Well that's... unexpected..." He said aloud, to himself as he walked over to the summoning bell on the wall. He picked up the knocker and began to strike it rapidly. He'd do so until the Company had assembled.

@BlankName (Here's how and where it begins kiddo's. Here's the rule to entering. You came in, you were brought into the Company, and then after a few days of RnR along with some revelry, Tome vanished, leaving us with jobs on the board and nothing else. It would be pleasant if everyone posted before we begin in earnest and if everyone would post in similar fashion to what I put up, IE, waking up, coming out of respective lodgings, and entering the central room.)

Nightmare woke up in an odd position, she had been leaning against the wall while sharpimg her knife. 'I must must have slid down and fallen asleep.' She thought to her self as she frowned, 'since when did I sleep?' Shaking her head she stood up and stretched her soar muscles and picked up her discarded dagger. Placing it on its proper self, she looked around her small room. Pulling out today usual black out fit, she sighed. Slipping on the black pants and dim purple tank top like shirt she quietly worked her hair into place below her shoulders and opened her door and heading to the central room. She walked up beside Eltrial and looked at what he was reading. "Well I will be damned."she whispered. Shaking her head she stood back to her height. "What do you think he's doing now?" She asked Eltrial duly. @Kazanna

Ireth was awake early as usual but she hadn't ventured out of her room. She said on the floor thing to work on her control of electricity. She would do well only for so long before she grew afraid and had to stop. She tensed and closed her eyes when she heard movement. Someone else was awake. She stood up and stretched some walking outside her room. She saw Eltrial and Nightmare. The woman she hadn't spoken with much.

She read the not on the table and looked to Eltrial. "You're in charge then?" She asked and looked at the job board and groaned. "I can't stand dwarves...." She muttered "of course they aren't very fond of elves either." She muttered.

Thalia was woken up by the sounds of chatter. She couldn't really remember what happened last night since it was all a blur but she tries too. Thalia threw her legs off of the bed and stood up, she walked over to the bathroom and she took a quick bath. When she was done she dried off and put on her armor. Thalia walked out of her bedroom and walked downstairs to see if she can find anyone.

Evan woke up, like every normal person, he was in a horrible position. Just laying down was enough for him. As walking up and stretching, while still in bed, he rolled off his bed and stretched again. Evan saw his Gas Mask hanging on the wall, and how he had to do a seminar today, it was Dr. Zhujiaos Seminar on how to kill a reality bender, and Evan had the perfect idea on how to do it.

After getting dressed, brushing his teeth, spilling tooth paste on his clothes and than getting dressed again, he headed to the table in a maze that he called his home. Once Evan saw the note, he gasped and than looked over at the three. "Your in charge than?" Evan didn't really like the choosing of Eltrial to be in charge but Evan had to go with it, because he's in charge... Ugh. Evan than remembered that the seminar on 'Reality Benders and You: How to survive when existence doesn't.' He finally got an idea.

Since Evan had the idea, he set up some muffins and coffee for everyone to grab, and whilst planning, Evan dropped a few things in there, but he can't describe them. He than sat down at the table, than stood up and walked over to where he can get everyone's attention.

Low thuds could be heard from Fireflies room. Something repeatedly hit against his walls. The noises only stopped to be replaced with the shuffling of his feet and would start up again. Hearing the summoning bell he set his darts on the table. Ant grabbed the boys darts and began to organize them.

"Who's ringing the bell this late at night?" He yawn rubbing his eyes with the sleeve of his over sized shirt. Dragging his bare feet against the dirt floor he placed himself in front of his bedroom door. He picked up his teddy bear helmet up off the ground then pulled it down on his head. He wrapped his small hand around the door handle and pried the door open just enough to let the let cut the darkness of his room and allow his small frame to slip through. "Are we going to play darts?" he whispered holding a single dart between the cloth of his shirt that hid his hand.

He wore the same dingy tan cotton shirt for a month. He liked the over sized shirt because he didn't have to wear pants.

  • Cierra

    Cierra was, as usual, awake before everyone, sitting by the table and eating a meat bun of sorts she had bought the day before. The girl was of course, never tired due to her background and people were usually amazed that she did not sleep for extreme periods. Due to her being an old member, the brunette got used to giving directions and such now to the newer recruits, and has spent generous amounts of time listening to their banters and quarrels through the passing days.

    The girl has also been out on some singular missions during that time as well, but nothing technical and she had missed the guiding hand of Tome, for he always made her feel as if she was going in the right direction, like, a father. The boy had even helped her in her quests against Arianna in the past, and the duo had even come as far as getting into the deep and dark businesses of Aphinos and Fiisora, the witches, or heralds of a world to be reborn in their image.

    Cierra had yet to bring Aphinos to her end, but with a reluctant Arianna inside of her, the brunette felt more ready than she could ever be to pull of such feats as fighting a force moving up the stairs to becoming the definitive god. Though, all of this just played out in her mind, and one could never make her choke out these thoughts, not once, not ever.

    Post Scriptum

    I always feel like i'm missing something.

    Edit: And it was my Level.

Once Evan noticed more people at the table, he got ready for the seminar.

"Afternoon, everyone. Have a seat. Get a cup of coffee and a muffin. Also, a reminder: the Seminar Rooms are a weapons-free zone. Please make sure you've surrendered your weapons at the reception desk. I know, it's bullshit, but the last thing I need is someone complaining because one of you was walking around the area with your piece. Everyone good? Cool."

"Today's seminar is about a subject near and dear to my heart: Reality Benders. Type Greens. Mary Sues. Bixbies, Shapers, Wizards, Gods, Devils, Outside Observers, call them what you will, these are the guys that change reality based on perception and willpower. I've made a career out of both being and killing these guys. You're here to get certified to do the same thing."

Virion Glyngeiros

Virion had been hold up in his workshop for the past two days, he didn't even come out to sleep or eat. His work was much more important to him than any of those trivial matters. He had been trying to perfect a new speed mutagen, but was having very little success. He heard the bell ringing off in the distance summoning him to the main room. "Ugh, why now?!?" He shouted to himself as he pushed his chair back and stood up. He stumbled a bit, but eventually regained his balance and proceeded out the room. He hadn't been on his feet at all during those two days, so it was taking him quite a bit to get to the main room. Once he got there, he saw a majority of their group had already been waiting in there. He sat down at the end of the table in his usual spot and put his feet up on the table, leaned back in his chair and folded his arms. "What's so important that I had to stop my work?" He asked in an angry tone.

Evan quickly started the seminar. "Okay did everyone grab a cup of joe and a muffin? Good." Evan needed everyone to have the cup of coffee and muffin, both would be nice but he just needed them to eat one. "Okay so for the new people, I am doing a seminar that's near and dear to my heart, killing Reality Benders. So, to get refreshed just have the cup of coffee and or muffin and your good." Just needed them to eat it.

A loud thud and a violent shout erupted from Karut's room as the bell sounded, and with a mighty kick, his door broke off its hinges and fell to the ground. He crouched through the doorway, his size always a problem for normal rooms, a barrel in his hands. He made his way over to the main room, his face scrunched up in annoyance, and once he had reached everyone, he set the barrel down with a thud, a bit of dark brown liquid sloshing down the side of it as he stood there, staring down into its contents.

Eltrial frowned, and after Karut arrived, he hit the bell again, loudly.

"Well at least someone brought something useful to the table. No, I'm not the appointed leader. Read the note. It says one of us needs to lead, not that I am the elected." Eltrial said with a nearly flat tone.

With a sigh, he took the dagger out of the table and slid it into his own belt. It held the Company head's emblem. "If I must lead, I will, at least until someone else rises that is worthy of the mantle. We might as well take up a- Dwarves?" He asked with a frown.

Eltrial squinted his eyes at the posting board, he took the posting down and considered it, "Fifty pounds... that's a bit short for a company as large as ours... We'd want to negotiate." His gravely voice ground out.

"But no, First, We discuss the matter at hand. We discuss this." He said holding up Tome's note, "We follow our orders. One of us must lead, the others must follow. Then we address this." He held the posting up in his other hand.

Eltrial carefully rolled up the posting, and slid it into his belt, beside the dagger, and then began tearing the other note apart slowly. He dropped the pieces onto the table, Enough for one each to the members of the group. "Write a name. Who you want to lead, We'll leave it to blind voting." He turned and crouched down, picking a piece of charcoal out of the hearth, he paused, pondering who he thought was to lead.

"...eeeh?" Fireflies tilted his head to the side. Confused at was going on. "Tom died?...what a shame." He spoke in a monotone voice. He jumped down each step that lead to his room until he was at the bottom. He walked up to the table and grabbed a piece of the torn paper for himself. "The firefly would be a good leader... she knows a lot of things." He was referring to the firefly that befriended him when he was locked in his parents cellar.

He picked up a pen and held it, "Um...." His big bear eyes glanced around at the other members of Blue Moon. "...I can't write..." he said with a low embarrassed tone just before he quickly curled up under the table.

Karut sighed as he put a lid on the unfinished Ale barrel and turned to the table with the note, picking it up and giving it a once over.

"Hmm......a temporary leader, huh? It's gotta be someone with experience, that's for sure. Maybe some sort of people person?"

He scratched his head as he spoke. In truth, he wasn't quite sure what made a good leader. He had always been the follower, so he thought that these traits are what made someone suitable for leadership. But then again, what did he know? He was just a Minotaur that brewed the drinks.

Ireth smirked as her comment agitated Eltrial as she knew it would be. "Their dwarves there is no negotiating with them." She said as she sat down at the table looking at the muffins and then at Evan "what did you do to them?" She asked lightly. Not about to eat something that seemed to be eagerly pushed at them as he went on about his seminar.

She looked at the piece of paper dropped in front of her and looked around the room. Picking a leader from those she knew so little about. That was crazy.

@BlankName

Estellise Althea Albion

Essi sat on top of the bed with her legs folded neatly underneath her thighs. She was leaning on the nearby windowsill and appeared to be staring out into the distance. This was a common practice for her in the mornings. The earliest parts of the day were one of the only times that she was able to enjoy complete silence, allowing for her to collect her thoughts and reminisce about the past. Her life prior to coming to the Blue Moon Company wasn't something that was particularly pleasant, but it was something that she definitely didn't want to forget. The mind always did its best to protect itself and keep the person sane. However, this also meant that a sacrifice would have to be made. In the past, this sacrifice had been the memories of her life back when her parents had still been alive. No matter how bad things got and what kind of old trauma's were forcefully dug up, she wanted to keep her memories intact. Losing them again would mean losing a piece of herself. Perhaps it was primarily her paranoia causing her to think about her life every morning, but this practice served as a reminder to not live in the past but simply honor the memory of it.

Suddenly, loud knocking noises rudely broke Essi out of her reverie. Realizing that this meant that someone was calling for all of the members of the company to gather in the central room, Essi quickly braided her hair in its usual style and made her way downstairs. She kicked the door of the central room open and walked in with a yawn. Once at her destination, she noted that many of the members of the company had already been assembled in the room. However, there was something odd: their leader, Tome, was no where in sight. If Tome hadn't been the one to summon them, who had?

Her unsaid question was soon answered when the half-giant, Eltrial, spoke up. Apparently, their so-called leader had ditched them to go on some sort of business trip or whatever it was and had instructed for them to choose an interim leader. Soon enough, the half-giant ripped up a separate note and dropped the pieces of paper onto the table instructing them to write the name of the person who they wished to lead as the leader. This was a blind vote so it was alright to write exactly what she thought, yes? Taking precautions and copying Tome's handwriting rather than using her own usual style, Essi quickly jotted down something onto her piece of paper.

Folding the pieces of paper and tucking it into her pocket until it was time to hand their papers in, Essi looked around the room. Everyone else was still contemplating on their choice. To be honest, she didn't really care too much for the person who was to be their interim leader. They were a group of misfits. The half-giant wasn't too bad, but he was rash at times. The alchemy nut of an elf was much too enthusiastic in his experiments and was too irate when it came to being interrupted. The shadow-shifter was completely out of question. The blonde she-elf...well, she wasn't all that bad, but she didn't really seem like the type who could lead a band of misfits. The reality bender, like the shadow-shifter, was also out of question. The...sentient bear was still just a child. Her list could simply go on and on. Pretty much none of them were really fit to lead and if someone wasn't born a leader, they were sculpted into one. At this point, it didn't matter who was chosen. The results were going to be virtually the same in the end.

Members gathered around a leader, not the other way around. Essi was someone who preferred to pave her own path, but she did listen to the requests of people she respected or felt deserved that privilege. This applied to Tome as well. No one else in the company really invoked a feeling of respect within her, so it was only natural that she would be unable to decide on a leader using such an arbitrary method. Sure, this would be the normal expected method of selecting a leader, but that was when people were well acquainted with the candidates. It would have been much simpler if you could just pick someone with half a brain, but intelligence didn't always mean you were a good leader. Also, at this point, she wasn't really sure of who thought about the best interests of the company most.

This method is idiotic

With a sigh, Eltrial felt a wave of chaos brewing through the room, the general confusion over the note, and the election process made him want to simply leave the situation, but instead, he remarked, "In any event... we need to figure out who is to lead... No, Tome isn't dead, He's simply left on a mission, He'll be back... I think..." He said, sliding the knocker away.

He grunted, and rolled his shoulders, moving to the table itself, he picked up one of the tiny muffins and sniffed it, "What, is a Seminar?" he asked as he scratched his choice onto his scrap of paper. He had little idea of any of the others skills as a commander, and he'd trained, and led warriors into battle himself before, He didn't care for leading, but he knew the rigors of leadership well enough to carry out the duties of a commander well enough, so he scratched his own name onto the scrap of parchment, folded it up, and dropped it onto the table beside the muffins. "Lets get a move on with this though, the coffers of this place don't fill themselves I'm sure..." He paused, glancing at Cierra, "Do They?" he inquired to her curiously.

@Veirrianna Valentine @Knight Nate

Ireth looked at Eltrial "I think it's a training of sorts." she answered his question she herself didn't know much about them but it seemed the most logical. she looked at her paper and sighed scribbling down Virion's name. At any rate she would rather be under the charge of another elf especially one who didn't think she had darkness in her. It didn't take much to get her to accept her own gifts but it was nice to not have someone say it was wrong, especially her own kind. She of course could never think to lead such a big group of people w/ many races. That was beyond her skills, she came to this company to find herself or a new path, but not in that way.

@Kazanna @The Endergod

Leah woke to the sound of many people bustling about underneath her. Rather than do something useful, like pitch in to the conversation, she just laid there and listened as everyone spoke, her eyes closed but ears and mind wide open. It wasn't hard to discern the problem, everyone was in some form of tizzy over the fact that their leader, a man she'd only spoken to twice, had disappeared somewhere. Quite frankly, she didn't understand why it mattered. So he wasn't here to hold their hands, okay, cool, neato, but wasn't everyone here an adult? Or close enough to an adult to be able to take care of themselves anyway.

Rolling around and placing her elbows against the rafter beam, the fae-orc girl looked down at Eltrial and blinked a few times as she tried to rationalise how she was taller than he was before remembering she was on a rafter. To be honest, he was the first to take action and immediately defaulted to diplomacy. So yea, that was her vote, the brawn that had a brain.

Pulling an errant seed from her clothes, Leah took aim and tossed it expertly to bounce off Eltrial's ear.

"Hey, tiny, got a great idea," she called to the half-giant from above, "If there is a tie, can the tie breaker be a dual? It'd be fun, eh? And the loser can make the next meal, for all of us."

Red hastily rolled over in bed when he heard the first bell ring. 'Another meeting? Ehh, Five more minutes' He thought to himself while drifting back into the sweet embrace of sleep. Not soon after, another bell rang, disturbing him once more. Red rolled off of the bed and onto the floor making a large thud echo throughout the basement. He delivered a heavy sigh before picking himself up and opening his messy wooden wardrobe only to find his beloved belts, rags and amulets. Red snatched his usual flexible leather clothing and quickly put it on before taking a second glance at his wardrobe.

'Hmm...' He pondered the choice of what to wear when he quickly came to the realization that he was already running ten minutes late to the seminar. In a quick, decisive manner, Red grabbed his usual belts and cuffs before clicking them all in place and running out of his living space and into the common room, arriving in a mere second or two.

"Whats going on?" He asked everyone with a puzzled expression before taking a glance at the note on the table. 'Tome is gone? That's absurd, he'd never do something like this, would he?' Red thought. He pondered the idea of a new leader for a second, this idea didn't really go well with him. Sure, Red had ordered and strategised before, but he was never very good under extreme pressure.

With white hair surrounding her delicate face like a shroud, Evangelina quietly slept underneath a plush blanket, her head resting against the fluffy pillow. Her sleep, however, was interrupted by the sound of a loud ding coming from the bell located in the common room. Gently, Evangelina's eyes fluttered open, revealing a pair of sapphire blue irises that shimmered slightly. She was instantly greeted by a series of soft hoots resonating from outside her window. Sitting up, Evangelina smiled warmly towards a large owl-like creature sitting patiently on the windowsill, watching as he tilted his head to the side. It seemed the bell had woken him up too.

"Hello, Aanu. It's a little early for you to be up, isn't it?" Evangelina asked softly, glancing around the room for a quick moment. He cooed quietly in response, ruffling his brown feathers. Slinging her slender legs over the bed, Evangelina slipped out of bed and began getting ready for the day. She wondered why the bell had rung so earlier. The snow elf hoped it wasn't an emergency.

Once she had slipped on her white dress, Evangelina made her way downstairs, leaving Aanu to rest peacefully on the window where he began to once again fall asleep. She entered the common room where everyone else was gathered, the smell of coffee and muffins hitting her in a wave as she entered.

"Hello, everyone." Evangelina called out warmly, flashing everyone one of her lovely smiles as she approached the table they were standing around. She overheard the fact Tome was gone, and in response, a look of concern flashed across her pale face.

"Tome is gone?" She whispered, her blue eyes filling with worry. Her gaze traveled to the note sitting on the table, quickly scanning the words over.

@Anyone in the common room

Eltrial sighed, and crossed his arms over his chest, He grunted acknowledgement and nodded, "Aye, He's gone. Said he'll be back, but who knows when. Said were to carry on the business of the Company in his absence as normal and to elect a leader in the mean time. I've proposed voting, but... it seems the shock that he's gone is a higher priority at the moment." he said with a grating tone.

He glanced up at Leah, and raised a quizzical brow at her, "Fine with me. But don't expect mercy if it comes down between us runt." he said with a grin.

Virion looked over at the food placed in the middle of the able and looked at with a little disgust. He wasn't going to even attempt to eat anything, especially because it's so early. Eltrial said something about electing a new leader and started to toss pieces of paper out to everyone. He looked down at the scrap of paper that lay before him. He could honestly care less about who would be their next leader. Although he had no experience leading people, or a want to, he still wrote his own name down. If anyone was to lead them, it might as well be some one with actual intelligence. After scrawling his own name down on the scrap of paper, he folded it twice neatly and placed it back in the middle of the table. "Now that that's over, can I go back to my workshop? I have important business to attend to."
