The US is gripped by the virus, and the dollar implodes. Worldwide, 60 million people die, including over a million in the US alone. The nation is left shattered, bringing an end to American dominance in the world. China quickly becomes the economic center of geopolitics, having controlled the virus through harsh measures and come out largely intact.
America is alone.
2033. The plague finally begins to recede. The new president, James Park, bills himself as a pacifist--he promises that there will be absolutely no foreign conflicts during his term, appealing to a nation exhausted by death and war.
In a way, he's right. There will be no foreign conflicts. Unfortunately, most Americans will find themselves wishing it was some far-away conflict halfway across the world.
March 3rd, 2035. News comes out of Las Vegas that the police are in a standoff with an obscure far-right neo-fascist group holding up a casino. A few hours later, more news comes--the entire police squad is dead, and the terrorists have spread to take over multiple buildings, including the wider area and the city's mayoral and council offices. The National Guard is called in. The next day, you hear that they have fallen as well.
As it turns out, these are no ordinary far-right terrorists. They have what can only be described as psychic powers, and have declared the New Psychic State, planning to take over America. The Second American Civil War has begun.
The good news is that they are not alone in their power. Psychic power seems to be contagious, somehow. You, too, can attain this power and fight back...but you will be hunted. The world is dangerous now.
Welcome to America. Get ready to fight.
Rules
* No live-action faceclaims, please. I'm serious about this. It creeps me out.*Slots are limited--I'm going for a party of four. It's just easier on me that way, especially since I don't GM too often. I will be picky, and you may not get in even if you have a good sheet. Be aware of this when signing up.
*This will be a semi-lit to literate RP. I'm not too strict on how much text there is (quality over quantity) but I expect at least one good paragraph per post, and decent English.
*The roleplay itself will be on RP Nation, but the OOC chat will be on Discord. Easiest that way for me.
*Characters should be normal civilians. Part of the fun of an apocalyptic RP like this is the struggles of normal people to survive in a world gone mad. It's just not quite as fun if you bring in Navy SEAL Badass McAwesomepants right off the bat. Obviously, this also means no psychic powers at the start--that'll happen over the course of the story--but feel free to PM me if you have certain powers in mind.
*The Golden Rule: Don't be a jerk. Follow site rules, don't godmod, don't metagame, don't harass me or other players, etc.
*Special note on harassment and bullying. I will have a zero-tolerance policy on this. If I find out you're pushing people around over a make-believe internet game, you're done, period.
*Finally, the GM's word is law. I'm willing to negotiate on things, but once I've made a decision, it is final and to be respected.
