Wanderlust

"And then she said Senpai lemme love you long time... then it was a wrap.. quite literally actually hahaha!!!" Charlie looked at the homeless man chuckle for a couple seconds with a satisfied look on his face. "...Anyways." Charlie dug into his pockets and pulled out a blunt, an attempt to reup his high. It seemed he was going overboard on his summer break. He had to be careful though.... the consequences would be extreme if he was ever caught by any fellow military members. For now no one else could know about his career path except that he was going to be a Law Student, nothing more nothing less. He was going to have his fun for awhile and detox in the final weeks of the trip. This would be the last time he would be able to crazy shit in his youth... in exchange for his 4 year military styled education he missed out on the normal college dorm life. Time to make up for lost time.

"Just dont hurt yourself." Phoenix stood now, smoking on the curb of the bus stop. "Surprised his bus aint here yet. Been talkin for ages... oh look! Seems your people made it."

"Oh." Charlie handed off the blunt to his grimy acquaintance. No need for anyone to see that. He smiled wide in his seat, pleased to reunite with the crew. "Hey guys missed ya!" Charlies eyelids fell seductively down as he saw Felice jump out the sardine packed packed first. "... Missed you indeed." He didnt get a chance to see any of his friends leave the RV before he got ready himself. Hes glad he didnt. He raised his head slightly and playfully smirked as she exchanged one of her sassy looks to him. "I thought we lost you, I suppose Jerylin was kind enough to keep you informed on where we were going" She starts to walk away before stopping. "Oh. And Charlie?" She looks back over her shoulder. "You missed a spot" She states referring to a smudge of lipstick on his neck.

Charlies eyes went wide. Phoenix turned around, astonished to the point where he had to raise his glasses at him to make sure it wasnt a bad joke she cracked. The two held a slight stare before Charlie looked back to his friends. "... fucking incompetent fuck. A rookie move... Estupido! You know better than that! Thats why you carry a hankie! Mierda!" Charlie gave out an embarrassed laugh and wiped his neck off with a black handkerchief he exposed from his suits front pocket. "Good looks hehe!"

As Jax came up and walked towards the hotel, Charlie offered a wink, his head still down and wiping his mark. He seemed to get it.

Too bad the fun part was done.
"... oh damn." Charlie saw her coming.

"Beautiful yet deadly! You deserve whats coming... sloppy boy. Had you been thorough you couldve came up with a story. You got lost or you fell asleep! But nooooo!!!"

"Where in the world were you? Why didn't you tell me you were leaving? Cage ordered for you and you never showed! I was worried sick!" Jerylin continued ranting at Charlie not caring if she was making a scene. It was Vegas, so a girl screaming at a guy in the middle of the street was as normal as things got. "You could have at least texted me, but no! Looks like you were too busy sucking face with some random hoe!" She continued noticing the mark Felice had mentioned earlier and the bruise marks that seemed to be appearing on his neck.

"I was-" Charlie realized he should wait. The questions were coming faster than a machine gun "Wait wait wait Jery." Charlie looked across the street and saw peering eyes. Phoenix was stomping on his cigarette and cursing at the gods like a football coach that just lost the world series. The homeless next to him was chuckling softly to himself. "I did, right? Oh no I didnt... Whoawhoawhoa thats not true! I wasnt with a hoe!!!" A desperate attempt to cover the truth. He noticed her expresions. Hurt and angry. Why was she so mad though!? Totally out of character in regards to the way she usually handled her friends though Charlie had to admit. She WAS basically the mother of th group.... but still. He had hurt her. He placed a hand over an eye and looked down, in a tired manner "... Listen Jery I-"

"Look at me while I'm talking to you! Carlos Manuel!"

"Okay now Jay, lets take a breather, you don't need to call me that cmon. Lets just go inside and enjoy the sh-"

She reached over, grabbed him by the jaw and tilted his face so his eyes met hers. That's when he noticed his lost expression and reddened eyes. "You've got to be fucking kidding me. You're high?!" She dropped her hand and rolled her eyes. Of course he was. It was Charlie. As much as Jerylin wanted to see the best in him, she seemed to stumble into a wall every time. This wall left knocked the anger out of her leaving only disappointment. She sighed glumly before shaking her head and walking away into the hotel.

Charlie was caught off guard by the way she grabbed him. She smelled good at least. "No excuse ma'am!" He didnt make eye contact and looked towards her neck. He suddenly sat straight and stern, the complete opposite of his usual laid back mannerisms.

"What? Why would you say that!?"

What a dumb question coming from his alter ego. After four years in one place with a completely different culture than the rest of society, you are BOUND to adopt a few habits and mannerisms. Standing and responding at attention when a superior got serious was the response. Charlie just so happened to let it slip through. He looked at her expression. Tired and over it. She sighed and walked inside the hotel. Charlie scratched his 5 o clock shadow and looked forward once more. "VROOOM!" The homeless guys bus had just arrived.

"... You're an interesting guy." The gruff old man said with a laugh. "Thanks for the breakfast" He pointed to the blunt tucked behind his ear as he got up. Charlie got up too. He smiled at the old man and stood up himself. He gave him a stern handshake. "For her sake, I think you taking that from me will do me so good. Shes hot when shes angry, but Id rather not, ya feel me?" The two exchanged laughs. "Oh trust me young man.. I know! And thanks." Charlie winked. He had slipped some cash into the mans hand during their handshake. Charlie watched him step on the bus but before he got in he said something. "And by the way. I fought in 'Nam. I know a thing or two about asian chicks... Sir... have fun.... but be careful. Especially with certain people. Theyll use that against you... all Im sayin. Gnight." Charlie contemplated that for a few moments, watching the bus pull off, before turning around and seeing Raphy waiting for him.

Before he took a step forward- "AYE!" Tony the Taxi Cab Driver drove up next to Charlie. "Your friends forgot to pay buddy!"

".... grrr. Next time we get an Uber." Charlie growled as he pulled out his wallet. Moments later he stood in front of Raphy and smiled. "Wus good?"

“Umm..” He started, scratching the back of his neck as he tried to think of what to say after that scolding. “Hey there. You missed a good dinner.” He said with a shrug before smiling at Charlie. “Though you had a girl with you so I suppose that’s a bit more fun than dinner with everyone. I don’t know.” He glanced around a few more times before looking back at Charlie but this time with a small blush of an embarrassment.

"... I wasnt with a chick." Charlie snickered. "And I did miss it didnt I? Hmm. To be honest I dont know either. But it wouldve been fun too."

“You’ve gotta teach me how you woo the ladies so easily. I would like to court a girl at some point but I don’t think I’m doing it right.” He said with a small chuckle. “Someone should go see if Jerylin’s alright. But maybe that person should be you. But then again she might be a bit too riled up so that also might not be the best idea. Eh. I would talk to her but she probably doesn’t want to talk to me. Maybe Cage or Jaxson would be best. I’m rambling now…” He said and without another word turned away from Charlie, walking towards the hotel. He faltered for a second before turning around and looking at Charlie. He gave Charlie a look, waiting for his friend to come along so they could continue their activities for the day. Even though the ladies were upset with him, Raphael would make sure Charlie knew he was still there. Something told him Jerylin wouldn't like that but Charlie was his best friend and with that he'd have to suck it up and go against Jerylin if that were to happen.

"It aint hard buddy. Ladies are people too... they just wanna be treated special. You just think too much... we'll get that outta ya though." He laughed it off with an indirect answer, like a true politician. Charlie wasnt one to like talking about it so much. Hed rather help out in the moment.... so perhaps later tonight hell go through a lesson with him. "... She and Felice are tough ones. Stubborn. Dont know how those two get along so much. Anyways those types need time. Ill talk to her soon enough. Oh and another thing.... timing is everything. Hahahha." He laughed at the rambling comment. "Youre fine. A good guy. Muah! Ahh you dressd up nice! You might get lucky tonight!" He put an arm around his friend and kissed him on the forehead. "Lets go eat some mutton and fight some knights what do ya say?"

Phoenix stood by himself in the sidewalk for a while before following the group.

Felice had started walking towards the hotel the show was held in and stops mid-step at hearing Jerylin start to tear into Charlie. She quickly turns back and was amazed at Jerylin's outburst of emotion, all of it being poured upon Charlie. She almost felt bad for him, almost. She was more concerned for Jerylin, not liking her to be so upset, Charlie really screwed up to get her this mad. But then again, she was hardly surprised by Charlie, slightly irritated for him ditching them, he should've done a trip on his own if he was going to go gallivanting around town. Even if she seemed like she never wanted him around it wasn't only because she loathed him but because she didn't trust herself around him. Those stupid charming grins of his just had too many memories behind them, when she was dumb and naive. She was all grown up now, independent and didn't need anyone when she could nearly have anyone she wanted. She realized that was a bit of a selfish thought but it was true, she could get nearly any stranger on the street to blush or hand over their phone numbers if she really wanted to.

She snapped out of her self re-assuring thoughts to keep herself from thinking poorly about herself for still being affected by some of Charlie's mannerisms, when Jerylin grabbed Charlie's face. It definitely took her by surprise, Jerylin was truly upset, not just simply lecturing Charlie on where he was supposed to be, that was just Jerylin. But there was authentic hurt in her voice and it made her angry that her best friend was so upset, she shouldn't have let Charlie get under her skin so much. Jerylin was usually pretty bubbly and liked everyone, always giving the second chance and forgiving but Felice was not nearly so kind, especially when it involved her loved ones. And Charlie's stammering of excuses and answers only infuriated her more, Jerylin deserved more than that. Felice had become quite protective over Jerylin because she knew how invested she could become in people. She waited until Jerylin had walked by towards the hotel before just simply looking at Charlie and shaking her head with a glare.

Felice quickly followed after Jerylin to make sure she was alright, or at least as alright as she could be at the moment. "It's Charlie Jer, don't let him get to you. He's a womanizer, it's Las Vegas and you knew he was going to do something like this. Hopefully he got it out of his system now and shapes up. At least to Charlie's standards" It almost sounded as if she was defending him, at least until the last comment. "You know he would never upset you on purpose, he just got... distracted" As badly as she wanted to tear Charlie down while Jerylin was mad at him, it wasn't fair to Charlie or Jerylin to ruin a friendship over her bitterness. "After the show we'll get a good buzz going and go chase some tail ourselves or just dance our asses off and forget all about this" She states with an affectionate bump against Jerylin in an attempt to cheer her up.

Cage put on an amused smile as Raphael objected his opinion and spoke out his own. He gave Felice a casual shrug when she agreed with him. Realistically, the poems weren’t too bad but the stories such as Romeo and Juliet? That was quite morbid for 14 years old to read in high school with most of the story ending tragically in death and killing oneself. Cage was more of one to read for the plot lines rather than scanning for linguistics and rhetorics. But that argument was for another time since Raphael seemed to scolded himself again. “It’s cool bro,” he grinned before turning his attention back to Jerylin climbing on Jaxson. “Wow Jer, giving Jaxson a free show here, I'm jealous,” he teased as he leaned back against the soft leather of the cab. Cage looked at the time on his phone and received no messages from Charlie. “Man, I hope Charlie is doing alright. You don’t think he got run over by a drunk driver?” The rest of the cab ride was mindless chatter until they all arrived at their designated spot. Since he was the first to get in, he was the last to leave as he waited for everyone to head out.

Once he climbed out, Cage spotted Charlie on the bench and was relieved he was doing alright. “Hey bro, a text would be nice!” he exclaimed before noticing the mentioned lipstick spot. A smirk outline his countenance as Cage shook his head in amusement. “Way to go-“ he was suddenly interrupted and cast aside as Jerylin took charge of the situation. He didn’t know when but Cage already backed away a few steps while his friend was being admonished like a little child. He watched the two exchange words while Charlie was slowly getting smaller as Jerylin cut him off at every turn. “Remind me to never hook up with a random hoe while we’re on an expedition with Jerylin,” Cage murmured absentminded to Jaxson. Although half amused, it went away once Jerylin left and he wasn’t sure if he should run after her. It seemed like he was unneeded once Felice took the lead away and he figured she was better at comforting than he ever would be. After all the slaps he got, Cage swore off trying to make females feel better right away. He needed time to work his corny jokes and for them to steam off.

He stood there awkwardly and stupidly with his hands in his pockets while Raphael talked to Charlie and the girls walked off. He didn’t want to feel like he was choosing sides. Cage felt like if he stood in between of them, it would be like he was on both of their sides; Jerilyn’s for being worried and Charlie for getting it on so early in Vegas. “Well Jax, it looks like it’s just you and me buddy,” he casually tossed an arm around his friend’s shoulder. “Let’s go watch some testosterones rage with a jousting stick as you work your magic with Jerylin. Maybe you can pull a flower out of a hat or something,” he laughed before sliding his arm off and heading towards the hotel. Hopefully this will die off, the tension was so high up in the air, Cage was having a difficult time enjoying Vegas knowing that Jerylin was upset. Once they caught up with the girls inside the hotel as everyone started sitting down for the show to begin, Cage ruffled Jerylin’s hair affectionately. “You okay? Can’t have my baker too angry for Vegas,” he teased sitting on her other side, trying to ease her up. Deciding to go with the one joke he remembered, Cage tried to sooth the atmosphere the only way he knows how. "What do you call cheese that isn't yours?” he paused for suspense and then exclaimed, “Na-cho cheese! Okay, I admit it, that was pretty corny.”

Jaxson Sebastian Mikko

Within the small time frame from the restaurant to the casino, Jaxson felt distant from all that happened. At first it was a feeling of embarrassment when Jerylin sat on him in the cab right in order for the gang to fit. He remembered how his cheeks flared up and his eyes strayed away from the feminine body in front of him. Luckily it was dark outside so his red face was slightly masked from the darkness, but having a warm body on top of him did not help him to cool down. Through the ride he could feel his legs beginning to numb slightly but he did not want to make Jerylin feel like a burden, that was the last thing he wanted to do. This close feeling of intimacy between his friends in the cab burst when Felice stepped out of the cab, remarking to someone on a bench. As everyone slid out Jaxson saw it was Charlie who was there.

Mmmm...seemed like he had some fun without us.

A slight smirk came upon his lips when he heard Felice's comment towards Charlie that soon disappeared when Jerylin exploded. Jaxson was already close to the doors of the hotel near Felice, having already passed by his buddy giving him a small smile. But as he turned around though and witness dear Jerylin becoming infuriated because she was concerned made Jaxson feel a small knot of guilt from granting such masculine approval towards Charlie's actions.
“Remind me to never hook up with a random hoe while we’re on an expedition with Jerylin.” Jaxson heard Cage mutter to him. He did not say anything back since he was at a loss of words. A slight frown came upon Jaxson's face as he watched the hurt on her face and the slow responses from Charlie did not help. As soon as she finished her outburst she stomped away into the hotel with Felice following after.

Raphael said something over to Charlie, but at this point Jaxson wasn't listening. He felt helpless in what just happened. Jaxson knew he shouldn't take it personally but he never witnessed such an emotional outburst. His gray moment passed when Cage slung his arm around him.
“Well Jax, it looks like it’s just you and me buddy,” an internal breath exhaled out of Jaxson's frozen phase. A smile crept up his lips once more as his friend eased his guilt and regret. “Let’s go watch some testosterones rage with a jousting stick as you work your magic with Jerylin. Maybe you can pull a flower out of a hat or something.”

"Yeah! Wait? What?" red blossoming onto Jaxson's face again. But Cage quickly left his side to check up on Jerylin through his brotherly style. A sigh escaped Jaxson's lips as he observed his crazy friend. Ease up. This is Vegas. Can't let Cage have all the fun. And with that final thought Jaxson placed a small smile on his face and walked after Felice, Jerylin, and Cage, glancing back once towards Raphael and Charlie before continuing on.

~Jerylin R. Hazen~

Kick it to the curb

There weren't tears in her eyes, nor did she feel them coming. There was no longer anger in her. Only the disappointment. It wasn't the fact that Charlie had disappeared with a girl. He could do whatever he wanted with his life. Jerylin didn't care. It was the timing. Everything revolved around timing. Out of the three days Charlie could have gone off to fool around like his usual self he'd done it at the first group date they had in Vegas. The one dinner that officially marked the start of their roadtrip. The one she'd spend hours on the phone just to get a decent reservation. The one that was apparently not even the least bit important to him. No Jerylin wasn't angry or sad. She felt let down, not by him, but by her naive nature. Felice had warned her about inviting him. "He'll be good!" Jerylin said. "He's changed!" she pleaded, yet it just took one dinner to prove otherwise. Had Jerylin only listened to her roommate and none of this would have happened.

As Jerylin walked towards the lobby receptionist to get the tickets she had pre-ordered for the show she heard a voice behind her. "It's Charlie Jer, don't let him get to you. He's a womanizer, it's Las Vegas and you knew he was going to do something like this. Hopefully he got it out of his system now and shapes up. At least to Charlie's standards"

"I know it's Charlie, Fel. And I know it's Vegas. It's just..."

Though the scene had been on reply over and over in her head, it was still difficult to bring the words from her mind to her tongue. "It's just that I thought better of him. It's just that I wish he hadn't left. It's just that it was the our first event together. It's just that it feels like he cheated on us again." The last phrase caught her by surprise. Was that what Jerylin was truly thinking? Did Charlie leaving them of some random girl remind her of when he left her for Felice? No. It couldn't be. Jerylin shook her head.

"You're right. It's not worth it."

A smile found it's way to Jerylin's face.

"You know he would never upset you on purpose, he just got... distracted"

To that Jerylin didn't reply, she just nodded her heard and pressed her lips together. She wanted to believe Felicity, and deep down she knew it was probably true. Yet, there was still that gnawing feeling inside of her that was yelling otherwise.

"After the show we'll get a good buzz going and go chase some tail ourselves or just dance our asses off and forget all about this"

Jerylin laughed genuinely. Getting buzzed and dancing sounded great actually.

"You've got yourself a drinking buddy!" She said hooking arms with the girl and walking toward the room where the show would be held at.

Once the two had taken their seats and left others opened for their friends, Jerylin saw Cage and Jaxson making their way towards them. Jerylin waved them over, traces of the previous event completely vanished by now. "Guys over here!" Cage took a seat next to Jerylin ruffling her hair. A playful gesture she'd grown to love, “You okay? Can’t have my baker too angry for Vegas.” Jerylin nodded furiously with a smile on her face. "Yup all better. Thanks for asking." Jerylin rested her head on his shoulder letting her eyes close. He was the perfect height for her head to fit comfortably in the gap between his neck and shoulder. She was glad to have Cage, Felice and Jaxon with her. Even Rafa, who was probably still with Charlie, had a special place in Jerylin's heart. They were her special group of friends who, by the looks of it, would be with her through stupid selfies and unnecessary blowups. They were weird, but hey so was she. "What do you call cheese that isn't yours? Na-cho cheese! Okay, I admit it, that was pretty corny.” Jerylin's eyes opened abruptly happy thoughts vanishing with the tacky joke. Her head rose slowly putting distance between her and Cage. "You just killed my mood." Her face was serious for a second before breaking into a smile and rolling her eyes.

~Raphael~

Raphael blinked, looking over at Charlie as he spoke. After having been attacked by the two young women he seemed certainly fine and for that Raphael respected him. If it had been hi he probably would have went into hiding. The embarrassment would have been too much for him. But this was Charlie and he was Raphael. They were completely different in that aspect.

He blushed in surprise over the fact of
‘getting lucky’, rolling his eyes at his friend but choosing not to respond to it. He scrunched his nose at Charlie, swatting him away a bit though a small smile played at his lips. “You shouldn’t kiss my forehead like that. You might give girls the wrong impression.” He teased a bit as he walked with Charlie into the building, ready to watch the entertainment. Raphael hadn’t grown up with much entertainment and planned to make up for it during this trip- This place being extra special. He was excited to see the knights and princesses if they had any. It was supposed to be a special time.

But it wouldn’t be.

Not with the turmoil that there was now. Not with the fact that his friends weren’t exactly on good terms. The thought of Jerylin and Felice being upset bothered Raphael to no end, his stomach rumbling with nerves as he twiddled his thumbs and bit his lip. He could feel himself beginning to panic just a bit as they got closer to the others and because of that he chose to sit a few seats away to try and calm his nerves. If he’d gotten them under control at some point in the show he’d go and sit with the rest of them. But for now he needed his space. He wasn’t going to be seen as the weak kid again. He didn’t want to be the one they all thought they had to tiptoe around.

He let out a small sigh, glancing over at Jerylin. He wanted to go see how she was doing but the sight of Cage and her together stopped him from doing so. Cage was a much better option. He was so upbeat and energetic. He’d certainly be able to lift her spirits in no time and that was what she needed. Later on when all was quiet Ralfie would talk to her then. He just hoped she would understand that and not think badly of him for not going to see if she was okay now. The thought of Jerylin yelling at him tried to push its way into his mind but he forced it out, refusing to let his spirits dim anymore before huffing. Maybe Charlie was right. Maybe he did think too much for his own good. Thinking always seemed to be his downfall.

“So then that’s my goal.” He mumbled to himself. “Think less and just do. Yeah… That’ll work.” He went silent as the lights dimmed and he looked around the place before his eyes went to the place where the knights would be, ready to see something pleasant to get his mind off of what had transpired just minutes before. Maybe this was what they all needed anyway. A nice, little distraction to lift everyone’s mood. That was always welcomed.

Felice ached for Jerylin and her disappointment in Charlie. She knew how it felt, to think you knew Charlie, to be let in to his soft side that you hoped was his true side, only for it to be blasted into little pieces of hurt, anger, and disappointment. She was however, taken aback by Jerylin's comment: "It's just that it feels like he cheated on us again". She swallows deep before blinking quickly and puts a smile back on her face, deciding not to comment or dwell on Jerylin's comment. She felt relieved when Jerylin laughed and hooked her arm with her own, it put a true smile back on her face. At least Jerylin learned early, she nearly spent a year with Charlie and she hated the lingering icky feelings she had about it, mostly due to the stupidity she felt for falling for him, who knew how long he had been running around on her. She would definitely need a drink sooner than later but she knew this would come up. It was inevitable, she had just hoped not so soon but she refused to dwell any longer on it. Fuck Charlie, he would not ruin this vacation for her or she didn't want him ruining it for Jerylin, she'd simply continue to be apathetic and tolerating his presence as usual. She knew her opinion hardly phased Charlie so there was no sense chiding him like a child, he was a grown man who could do what he wanted and deal with the consequences that came along with it on his own.

She takes her seat next to Jerylin, looking over at Cage and Jaxson as Jerylin called to them, smiling as Cage did his part in making sure Jerylin was alright. She
covered her mouth as she tried not to bust out laughing at Cage's pun, still chuckling under it. "That was horribly amazing" She states, still laughing as she said it. She watches Jerylin's reaction with a smile before back at Cage."Now look what you've done, gone and ruined Jerylin's mood. Can't you see she doesn't want to taco 'bout it?" She laughs at her own joke, before waving her hand. "I know, I know, that was even worse"

She looks to the center of the arena as the lights dimmed and the announcer began to speak, introducing the king with a grandeur of drums, horns, and explosions. A great way to make an entrance in fact. She watches as the various countries try their hand at javelin throwing, smirking a bit at watching Spain's king. She looks to Jerylin with a grin. "I'd like to go and visit Spain if you know what I mean" She jokes, stifling her laugh at her silly comment. The show soon moved onto jousting and she found herself cheering with the crowd when Spain's turn was up. She winced as the losers hit the ground; the booming sound effects, and cracking of the lances, adding drama to the hits received.

"... Why the fuck are we sitting here?" Charlie said slightly annoyed. He shook his head and sighed, looking at the introduction of the King. "I understand why I would sit here, but god damn Raphy, go join the others. I dont like that whole misery loves company shit, and I dont like your pity either." He turned his head slightly with a blank face. He spoke in his usual calm tone to his timid friend. "Your vacation doesn't need to be ruined by me buddy. Go join the others bro. Imma go use el bano. I'll sit next to you at the end when I return." Charlie got up and looked down at Raphael as he buttoned his nice jacket. "Don't worry pops... I'll behave." He turned to his side and excused himself around various people in the audience before going through double doors and making it back into the hall, where his companion, The Phoenix waited for him. Charlie looked at him and turned left down the hall towards the bathroom.

"... Rough out there ain't it? Still though! You're missing the show! The Kings making his appearance ya know! Ahh! To be a King! Imagine that hermano! To be loved by everyone, to eat the best foods and command armies of men who would be more than willing to give their life to you! And of course! A beautiful queen." Charlie stopped walking abruptly and smiled at him before walking again. "Ok we both know that not true hahaha." The two continued walking. "Everyone knows that the best part about being king is that you're allowed to have harems of women that beckon to your every desire. Women willing to do the most freaky, nasty shit that the average modern woman would probably feint at the sight of." They were here. Charlie was about to turn into the library but was pulled back by Phoenix on the shoulder. He patted his face slightly and brought his face near Charlies. "You're a king buddy. Remember that. You're YSB. Young, set, and blessed. Have fun and dont feel guilty or worry too much. Ya dig it?" Charlie smirked and entered the bathroom.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"..." Charlie had just stepped out of the bathroom when he saw a group of three performers rushing to a large door at the end of the hall. He nearly drooled.

"Oh my god... imagine one of them in bed dressed like that." Phoenix raised his ray bans and whistled slightly. "Well... whatre ya waiting for?!"

Just a few paces and he was in front of the door. He pressed an ear against it and heard all sorts of bustling and scattering movements. He also heard laughter and what seemed to be preparations for the show. He opened the door slightly and peeked in. Everywhere seemed busy with makeup and costumes however there was a table full of beverages and food. A pair of the prepared ladies stood there and talked, drink in hand. "One and one. Nice." Charlie licked his lips and prepared himself.

He parted the door and snuck in like a thief in the night. He saw a small table of decorated flowers and nabbed a few, hiding them behind his back in his left hand. He approached the table and grabbed a small drink, so far not getting noticed through the mayhem of knights preparing to joust. One of the girls noticed him since he was close by. He twisted his head and smiled at them, making sure to make eye contact. He made his way closer and stood with the two, talking for a bit before presenting his gift. "... Yeah I'm actually a backup knight, which is why I'm allowed here. You've probably never seen me at rehearsals since Im with the traveling circuit most of the time. The boss asked me to come in last minute. I said fuck it, free food and good company... like yall ;) "

The trio giggled and exchanged numbers, with Charlie reporting that he had to go outside for a call. However he was stopped din his path by what looked to be manager. "Aye those girls just told me youre the backup knight. Listen, France ate some bad sushi earlier, and cant make it. So lets get armored to go. Youre Spains knight tonight. Oh no! Don't go away cmon."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"YAH BOYS! THOUST CAN NOT FUCKETH WITH MEETH!"

Though he surely could not brag too much. Charlie tried his best for the Javelin Throw but inevitably his inexperience caused him to only use his pure strength, and frankly there were bigger, bulkier guys he was in competition with. Despite this he stomped the ground and revved up the crowd, raising his opponents hand. He walked a few paces away from where his Spanish King sat and paused formally. "Next competition milord, I will win it all for La Madre Patria." The handsome man who played Spains King awkwardly laughed, slightly confused at the sight of Charlie, a performer he had never seen at rehearsal. He bowed to the King and turned, hands waving to the crowd. He spotted his group of friends and waved.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Oh shit... Whoa!" Charlie petted his horses head to her calm down. He had only ridden a horse once or twice in his lifetime so felt a bit nervous when he stepped to the line. "Ok... shit..." He held his spear in hand and shield in other.

"Match lasts 3 rounds,

1pt for breaking a lance on the chest and between saddle and helm

2pts for breaking on the helmet and lance at the base

3pts for unhorsing the opponent or making them to drop their lance"

Charlie nodded his head in understanding after the rules were yelled for all the crowd to hear.

"GO!"

"Aaaagh!" Charlie kicked his horse into a sprint and immediately felt unfamiliar with the speed. There was no time to think on it however his opponent, France, was nearing, spear out. Charlie held his out and watched the hand and body movements of the Croissant Crusader. Collision.

CRASH!

"3 Points for France!"

"OOOOOOO!"

The was a mix of pitiful ooo's but it soon erupted into excited applause. France round and boasted to the crowd as Spains squire went to the side of his knight.

"Bro what the fuck? Have you ever done this before?!"

"Shut up... help me up. Im just rusty."

Charlie stood up, armor still shiny, and prepared for the next joust.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

He prepared himself once again on the line. "... You dont get paid enough for this. Wait! You dont get paid at all! At this point this is just you and your pride."

Charlie scoffed and got ready.

Cage let out his sheepish grin at her words. “Haha, killing moods is my forte,” he replied before chuckling at Felice’s own pun. “My bad, Jer, my bad” he couldn’t help but add, “that was cheesy but it was grate.” He pulled out his hand and leaned towards Jerylin to high five Felice. As the lights dimmed and the show started, Cage was excited to see the intense action scenes. The whole show started with music building up the tension and Cage watched the scenes switch to jousting. “Holy crap, this must be how they woo the women in the old days,” he whispered to Jasper. “It’s social darwinism in action!” He wasn’t sure which side he was cheering for but Cage just cheered along for fun. It was similar to watching a Fast and Furious, he only watched it to see the explosions and the mindless action. And of course, hot girls were major factors as well.

His hands went up to roar with the crowd and he was on the edge of his seat until something unexpected came about. A familiar face entered the stage for the javelin throw and Cage simmered down in confusion. He laughed for a second, believing he truly hallucinated from eating too much until the figure waved at them. His stomach squeezed in horror at his happy-go-lucky friend. When did Charlie sign up for a death wish? Cage's head turned on both sides of the auditorium, hoping to spot his friend and laugh about a doppelganger but Charlie was nowhere to be seen. Out of the craziest things they might have done together as a trio, Charlie definitely has topped it.

“Jesus...” he knew there's nothing God could do to protect his friend now. Charlie was suddenly on a horse holding a spear in one hand and the shield in another. Another snicker escaped Cage because he never thought he'll see the day where Charlie is in armor and riding a horse but most of all, he mainly was just in utterly disbelief. However Cage soon got too caught up in the moment, screaming for Charlie to beat his opponent to the ground. “GO GET HIM MAN! GET-,” he pumped his fist in the air and cringed when Charlie fell onto the ground. “This is it, Jax. He’s going to die being jabbed by a stick. I’ll have to bury my friend at the prime age of twenty two. Our trio is going to just me and you bro.” Cage knew he was being a tad dramatic but death was a plausible consequence. It's like if they were watching Cirque du Soleil and suddenly Jerylin came out swinging on the trapeze. Shaking his head and hoping for the best, Cage clasped his two hands together. He leaned back against his seat, anxious to see what’s going to happen next.

The uneasiness that was resting upon the group was finally diminishing by each passing, petty pun. Jaxson felt himself slightly giggling, mostly rolling his eyeballs though. It was expected that Cage would come up with such a plan, but when Felice piped in Jaxson laughed harder. The combination of the sexy Felice attempting at a pun of Cage's level was something not seen normally. He sat next to Cage finding himself gazing off not feeling really connected with the others at the moment. His fingers unconsciously began rubbing the smooth, aged metal of his pocketwatch that rested inside his pant's pocket. Being inside a casino and not gambling was making Jaxson feeling slightly itchy. He could feel that some part of him wanted to head towards the gambling tables and begin his wicked ways of earning money, but then another part of him wants to spend precious time with his friends. Besides spending time with them was the main reason why he came onto this trip. He sighed as his eyes finally rested on the stage where the lights began shining and the room began darkening.

At first there was the reenactments of the kings from different countries in attempts of placing facts with jokes. Small bursts of laughter escaped Jaxson but none were genuine. The show wasn't grasping his attention for some reason, not until the knight of Spain stepped onto stage. The figure underneath the armor seemed familiar that Jaxson was leaning forward in his seat to try and grab a better look. Just when he finally realized who it was, Cage was screaming,
“GO GET HIM MAN! GET-."

Both Cage and him involuntarily winced when Charlie fell onto the ground with a loud thud from the armor. A smile crept onto Jaxson's face and he was cracking up from the embarrassment that Charlie must've felt. He cupped his hands around his mouth and shouted to the Spaniard knight, "Hey man I was betting on you! You lost me twenty bucks!" Jaxson couldn't believe how Charlie got up there, actually he could think of a way that he did, women. “This is it, Jax. He’s going to die being jabbed by a stick. I’ll have to bury my friend at the prime age of twenty two. Our trio is going to just me and you bro.”

"Oh don't worry Cage. Then it will just mean more food for you," Jaxson commented. "Seems Charlie is getting into all the fun. How about after this tournament we hit some tables and win us some money? What amount of money are you guys wanting? 1,000? 10,000? You name it and I bet I can win it."

Felice furrows her eyebrows when she watched the spanish knight make his way into the arena, his movements and posture oddly familiar. She

stared back in disbelief as she recognized the man waving was Charlie. She looks around to see if anyone else was seeing the same thing she was, making sure she wasn't going crazy. Charlie was notorious for his stunts, but how the hell he pulled this one was even beyond her. She soon heard Cage's "Jesus" and his cheering for him and knew that it was not an illusion. She sat back in her seat with the shake of her head as Charlie got ready to face his opponent. "I swear that man has a death wish" She leans back in her seat, definitely worried for Charlie's well being, he had no idea what he was doing, his ego once again was getting the better of him. She winces as he hits the ground, knowing that was going to hurt later if it didn't already. She shook her head as Charlie readied himself for yet another assault. "Crazy mother-fucker" She mumbled with the shake of her head.
She turns her attention towards Jaxson and Cage when she heard about winning money and leaned in towards them. "I can definitely help you with that. I have a talent for distracting men and keeping them unfocused, they don't call me eye candy for nothing. If we stop by the RV on the way to the casino I have the perfect dress. I think we can clean the place out. We'll donate some to charity or something, keep the karma good. But I think if Jaxson plays, Charlie too if he doesn't disappear to some other random adventure, I'll keep the opponents distracted, Jerylin too if she's up for it, and Cage and Raphael keep an eye out for anyone who thinks what we're doing is suspicious we may be set for the rest of this trip." She shrugs. "Just an idea"

She winces as she hears another crack, expecting Charlie to be on the ground again but was shocked to see that Charlie had managed to win that round. After several more rounds the jousting was over and surprisingly enough Charlie managed to win third place. Felice just shook her head as it was announced, he was definitely one lucky bastard. The crew headed out after that, stopping by the RV since it was on the way anyways; so Felice and anyone who wished to do so could change and/or freshen up. Felice didn't take too long, an expert at changing fast being in the modeling business for a bit. She had asked the taxi-van to come back in a half hour hoping everyone wouldn't take too long. Once everyone was ready they packed back in, having more room since she requested a van instead of a car where they were all stacked on top of each other.

Soon enough they were at the Luxor Casino, the music
as they entered the scene. She paused to look back at everyone. "Remember confidence is key, as well as acting casually and not suspicious." She shoots a look to Raphael since he'd be the most panicky of the group. "I have faith in you, just don't fidget too much, act natural" She gives a smile before looking at Charlie and Jaxson "I suggest poker, but ultimately it's what you two feel is the best game to try your luck at. Jerylin and I will your lady lucks, and Cage and Raphael will have your backs in turn of suspicious security, if that works for everyone. If so let's take a walk, split, we don't want to be obnoxiously suspicious by arriving at a table at the same time; Jerylin and I will meet up with you soon enough"

~Jerylin R. Hazen~

Glad you could make it!

It only took ten minutes of the show for Jerylin's mood to brighten up again. She'd taken note of Charlie and Raphael as they made their way back to the group and then of Charlie almost immediately getting up and going. The spark of anger was back in her eyes. "Great he's leaving again. First dinner now this? Do he know how long it took me to get these seats? Does he even care of the troubles I went through to set up this entire trip? Of course not! Charlie only cares about Charlie." With arms crossed over her chest Jerylin sunk into the seat as the show begun. For the moment, she had no interest in Kings or knights. She just wanted for this night to be over already. Taking out her phone, Jerylin read the time 6:35 P.M. "Great...this is just getting started..."

"GO! Get him! Don't let him escape!" By the time the first knight was able to knock the second off of his horse, Jerylin was at the edge of her seat. At first it was a nail biting experience, wondering the entire time if the people were actually hurt or if it was just part of the show. About 3 rounds in, Jerylin stopped feeling sorry for the guys and actually started cheering them on. There was a rush of adrenaline as the horses galloped at full speed towards each other and then a loud cry of joy as one of the two jousters won. "Long live the King!" she shouted at the top of her lungs as a stage got ready for a new knight to appear. Smiling back at her friends Jerylin stood up stretching her arms and legs, "I'm going for a snack. Do you all want something?" After what felt like hours of order taking, mostly Cage going through every item on the menu, Jerylin left the arena and made her way to the snack bar.

"Alright...M&Ms for the princess" Jerylin handed two bags of chocolates to Felice. "Popcorn for Jax, Hot Dog for Raphael, Nachos for me, and everything else... " Jerylin looked down at the Nachos with an extra order of cheese, the hot dog with everything, popcorn with extra butter, three bags of chips, two chocolate bars, a pickle, and an extra large drink "This is all yours Cage. Enjoy!" As Jerylin took her seat, she overheard Jaxson speaking over to Cage, "Seems Charlie is getting into all the fun." Puzzled by the comment, Jerylin craned her neck around trying to get an idea of where Charlie might have gone to, but he was no where in sight. That's when she heard it. "OOOOOOO!" Jerylin's face went pale as she recognized the yell. She looked over towards the jousters, praying it wasn't true, but there he was. Charlie laying flat on the ground dressed in a ridiculous outfit.

Jerylin's eyes shot wide open, her face bubbled red, and her Nachos were soon dropped to the floor. She stomped over to the edge of the rails and, with her fists clenched tightly around the metal bars, she yelled, "WHAT THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING! I SWEAR IF HE DOESN'T KILL YOU, I WILL!"

The after show was filled with an awkward silence as Charlie marched out from backstage. He'd manage to win the title for Spain in an interesting turn of events, but seeing as that hadn't been planned in the show, the group was kicked out of Excalibur lucky that they didn't call the cops on them. They all waited outside the hotel, two friends were about to join them, with mixed emotions going about. It seemed like Cage, Jaxson and Raphael wanted to congratulate Charlie, but Jerylin's anger towards him was stopping them. Felice was the only one who seemed unfazed by the situation since getting drunk was her number one priority at the moment. It wasn't until Charlie stood in front of Jerylin to calm her down, that things began to ease up. One look at the guy's big brown eyes was enough to melt Jerylin's frozen heart. She wrapped her arms around him and pressed her head against his chest, "Do you know how worried I was? You could have gotten yourself killed!" Charlie pulled some snazzy comment about having nine lives and then everyone was back to laughing once again. The four boys cheered about the event as Charlie spared no details from his fights.

"Okay I'll give you a call once we get there! Bye!" Jerylin waved away Felice and Charlie as they headed over to Luxor, the hotel next to the Excalibur. As the rest of the group waited for Rowen and Kieran, two of her friends that were going to meet up with them in Vegas. Jerylin was very excited to have her friends finally join them! They both had to stay back for personal reasons, but the trip was just getting started and there was still much to do! "Okay how about this: Felice Charlie and Raphael can go to the Casino and Cage can wait with me." Jerylin's original plan was to just go on her own, but there was a slight exchange of flirtatious gestures between Cage and Felice, typical for their friendship, that made Jerylin feel oddly jealous. "He was my friend first Felice. Back off..." The only reasonable action Jerylin could see without throwing a tantrum was asking him to go with her instead.

After agreeing to meet up at the casino, the group split in two. "Okay... now to find Kieran and Rowen." Jerylin looked over at Cage as if he was the one who knew where they were. "Have they texted you?" Jerylin asked, but before Cage could answer, Jerylin felt a tap on her shoulder. She turned to find Raphael. "Geez Luis! You scared me! " "Ummm... Can I stick with you guys?" Jerylin looked surprised. She was sure she had sent Raphael with his two favorite people on this trip. Why wouldn't he want to be with them? She looked over towards the direction the three had gone to and, from the distance, you could see Charlie trying to make his move on Felice and Felice cooly rejecting him. "Oh... " there was an understanding smile on Jerylin's face "Of course you can stick with us!"

Raphael B

It would be very obvious to see the relief that would come across Raphael’s face when Jerylin gave him the okay to go with him and Cage. He truly wouldn’t have minded going off with those two but there was already tension and he wasn’t the best at handling it. Plus Charlie wasn’t making it better for himself either. So instead of sticking with the dramatics he’d instead hunker down with the comedic and wait for their two new arriving friends.

tumblr_ndt4p4iTSl1qd9ql4o1_1280.jpg

To say he was excited was an understatement. A grin would play at his lips over the thought of Kieran and Rowen finally joining them. The two were definitely people he enjoyed being with and they wouldn’t cause too much animosity amongst the group- he hoped. Kieran was the one Rapha knew would be fine with having quiet, peaceful moments and he enjoyed Rowen’s sweet nature and especially her drawings. Plus having two new people to add to the group would certainly be refreshing.

‘Fun. This will indeed be fun.’ He thought to himself, a content smile coming to his face as he looked over at Jerylin and Cage.

“I believe the casino is going to be very fun,” He spoke aloud, a small smile on his face as his body seemed to ease into a relaxed state. Unlike his times where he would be tense, Raphael actually looked like what some would consider ‘normal’. He looked at ease. “Casinos are constructed to have a maze-like structure which keeps the gamblers lost and therefore spending more time there to spend more money. It’s a pretty clever idea is I do say so myself.” He’d turn to look around afterwards, patiently waiting for the arrival of his friends. His mind would still be on the Casino, the excitement bubbling in his stomach and trying not to be contained.

“When we get there I want to find the nearest Black Jack table,” He mumbled more to himself, a grin playing at his lips. “For sure."

Jaxson Sebastian Mikko

Jaxson's eyes moved between Jerylin, Cage, and Raphael to Felice and Charlie. Even though Jerylin did not say it, earlier he could sense a slight irritation that spiked within the girl when Cage was interacting with Felice. A slight smirk lifted his lips but he zipped his lips and silently observed the unsaid conversations occurring. At times like this was when he felt like a bystander, someone outside of the group yet not completely a stranger. It was a peculiar feeling. He's physically there yet feeling distant. This phenomenon quickly vanished when he mentally scolded himself, Don't just stand there. Do something. Push forward. Stop moving back.

Jaxson cleared his throat to get himself moving and mark his presence. He took a step forward towards his bud, Cage, Felice and Raphael.
"I would join Felice and Charlie to get a headstart with preparing myself to win some money, but it's nice out here so I felt like staying here with you guys and wait for the others to join us. I hope you don't mind having me," Jaxson inserted himself in. Rowen was someone he was familiar with considering him and Cage often visited Rowen when she was at work, receiving a few perks here and there whenever the manager wasn't there. They had many crazy times there, considering when food is involved Cage and Jaxson can get a little crazy.

Kieran on the other hand though was someone that has been mentioned in conversations with Raphael and Jerlyin but he has never met him. Jaxson did not know how to feel when it comes to meeting a new individual so he decided to leave an open mind and decided to concentrate on his plan when it came to gambling in the casino as well as the way Jerylin was lingering close to Cage and an uneasy feeling growing inside of him that he did not understood. But then Raphael commented something about casinos.
"Hell yeah casinos can get confusing. But then that's where learning the map of them come in handy," Jaxson flashed a smile as he pulled out a drawing of the casino that they were to go and meet up with Felice and Charlie, "When I heard we were going to Vegas I took the liberty of studying the layout so I know exactly which tables I want to hit and when. Plus if one of us does get lost we can try to set up a designated meet up place. And a magician's always has to understand the tricks to things in order to be a step ahead of it."

Rowen Persephone Ranalds

The open road.

The twists and turns of traveling the busy highway, people honking their horns in excitement and feeling agitated with Rowen’s driving abilities. Not to say she was a bad driver but she just didn’t drive as slow as the others turning and cutting corners. Normally, this wasn’t Rowen. Normally she would be the one to follow the rules of the road to a tee. But now? Well, Rowen just wanted to get to Vegas and enjoy the time with her friends.

“You have the map right, do I take this exit or the next. Damn, the traffic is getting worse and worse the closer we get to the Party city.” Rowen clicked her tongue grinning as she looked to the sign then to Kieran out of the corner of her eye.

The two of them had to stay back for personal reasons, Rowen having to finish a tattoo that she had started months ago and finally was able to book the last appointment. To finally have the tattoo on the back of her neck down was a load off her mind, stung a bit but it was a good kind of pain. Hopefully the group wasn’t going to want to go swimming or something otherwise she would have to linger on the sidelines.

That would be a drag to say the least.

And she supposed Kieran wanted to hang out with her? She wasn’t a hundred percent sure what his motive was but hell, she was happy to have the company on the road anyways.

“Damn, I’m so looking forward to this trip. I need to relax and get away from the school, you know? The real world is such a drag sometimes.” Rowen started to talk, she was the one to drag him into the car and while she knew he wanted to come and all he did happen to be pretty cynic sometimes. But that was a little bit why she liked him. Always expecting the worse but she could get him to laugh.

“Hey, what are you excited most about this trip?” Suddenly her phone went off and she took it out of her pocket handing it to Kieran rolling her eyes. “What, I can’t text and drive. That would get met pulled over.” She smirked a bit jumping. “Oh our turn!” Looking over her shoulder she quickly zipped into the turning lane just in time.

“Nearly missed it. That would have been a bummer. Who’s the text from?”

Once the show was over, the group shuffled to the backstage to meet up with Charlie. Cage and Jaxson kept their mouth shut to avoid adding fuel to the fire but Cage managed to sneak in a congratulatory pat in the back as they were getting kicked out. “One day bro,” he joked shaking his head, “you’re going to get arrested instead. Jaxson will have to weave some magic via bail to get you out. And he may not even have enough tricks on his hands by then.”

Tense situations has never been his forte and once they were outside, he could feel that something was off but being Cage, he couldn’t put a finger on it. He was definitely thankful that Jerylin decided to divide and conquer. Once groups were settled, Cage rested his arm around Jerylin’s shoulder as he guided them away from the hotel. “C’mon guys, let’s go find these lost children,” he chuckled softly. Cage pulled his phone out of his pocket, checking for texts but before he could answer her question, she turned around causing him to follow her movements. His arm slipped away from her shoulder as he saw Raphael standing behind them.

Raising an eyebrow, Cage was fairly surprised that Raphael decided to join them since he was a lot closer to Charlie than anyone here. Leaning closer to Jaxson, his demeanor was more amused than anything. “How safe is it to let Felice and Charlie go together alone?” he asked Jaxson, his tone filled with innuendos. As Raphael joined them, the conversation shifted to casinos and Cage decided to text Rowen then.

Looking up from his phone, he grinned at Jaxson’s plans. “Jax, what would I do without you?” Cage gambled for fun but he wasn’t particularly great at it. Deciding Jaxson was his money making machine, Cage was going to stick to him all night long. Glancing at his phone again to check for texts, Cage tapped on his iMessage a couple more times. “I hope Rowen isn’t driving because Kieran is probably praying for his life by now,” Cage snickered, trying to take his mind off the time as he checked his phone, feeling impatient as seconds ticked by. He was never the one liking to wait for others.

Felice had happily started in on her second bag of M&Ms when they exited Excalibor and Jerylin was lecturing Charlie. Served him right, he could have seriously gotten injured. She highly doubted Jerylin's worrying phased him much though, it wouldn't be Charlie if he started following the rules, not to mention she figured he probably liked having Jerlyin worry over him.

A few M&Ms unceremoniously fell out of her mouth as she stared in disbelief as Jerylin paired her with Charlie, narrowing her eyes slightly. She inhaled sharply and cooled down, at least Raphael would be coming, maybe those two would keep each other occupied and she merely only had to walk along. However, that was quickly not the case as Raphael asked if he could stay with Jerylin. Jerilyn had also claimed Cage to stay with her and now even Jaxson rather stay with Jerilyn. She couldn't believe the betrayal she was receiving from her friends, leaving her with Charlie, alone. She couldn't believe Jerylin wouldn't have kept Charlie with her, and sent Cage with her self instead, knowing their histories. She quickly realized why and the sharp pang of being mistrusted hit swiftly and hard. It seemed Jerylin may have bit of a crush on Cage and Jerylin didn't trust her alone with him, they were simply friends there was nothing Jerylin needed to not trust. Surely Jerylin couldn't think of her in such a manner, girl talk was definitely in the near future.

She looked to Charlie, a hint of hurt and self doubt appeared in her eyes due to the possibility of her best friend thinking she was a tart but it was soon replaced with an unsurprising look of annoyance/glare as she hit him in the chest with her clutch and turned on her heels. "Let's go. I need a drink. The Casino's not even quite a half mile away we should be able to walk it" She started in the direction of the Luxor Casino, not staying quiet for long after that, giving him the reason for the smack in the chest with her clutch. "You know, you really shouldn't worry Jerylin as much as you do. She just wants everything on this trip to go perfectly" Though her tone was still sharp, it didn't have the usual "bitchyness" factor behind it as it usually did when she spoke to Charlie. Honestly, it was a bit exhausting to always be catty towards him, but she refused to let him know he won, that he got under her skin, that she had started to fall for him before she found out about him and Jerylin. She was snapped out of her thoughts as some guy on the street shouted out some lewd comment towards her which she responded by tossing the bag of M&Ms she had in his direction. And now she was out of chocolate, just great. She turned back to Charlie. "I could really use a smoke, you got one on you?"

Not so far back into the past was the morning Daisy Caulfield finally promised to send her flatmate’s computer to be repaired. That same afternoon (“first thing I wake up”, she had said, and she woke at 2PM), she learnt, much to her disappointment, that Jerylin was not at her computer shop. She then remembered in even greater disappointment that she had missed the departure date of that big road trip they had been planning by an entire day.

The next day she finally found her cell phone, set to airplane mode and buried under a pile of blankets. She spent a good while that day tinkering with the settings to finally figure out how to set it normal, and was greeted with the sudden influx of accumulated text messages and missed calls. That day she also missed out on the news that Kieran and Rowan were going together.

She was so sure they would’ve let her tag along if she had remembered about it early enough to ask.

For the record, that Kim’s boyfriend already had plans that summer to visit the Grand Canyon that summer was purely a convenient coincidence, despite Daisy’s insistence to attribute it to the success of her superb interpersonal skills.

Following the conversation as shown above were several more messages that also read “on my waaaay”, but with an increasing number of a’s in the word “way” with each successive instance. Said messages were sent by Daisy both out of frustration and out of lack of anything better to do when she was alone on the back seats of the car, having promised to “be quiet” after having received orders from both the driver and the other passenger to “shut the hell up”.

_____

Now. Vegas.

One would be inclined to argue that the colour neon pink belonged more on the flamboyant signs that lined every exposed structure in the city, and less on the pair of canvas shoes that were shuffling, aimlessly, through the streets between the restaurants and hotels.

Daisy was too occupied repeatedly checking each of the chats on her phone through which she had sent multiple instances of the sentence “where are you?”. In addition to nearly walking into several well-dressed people, had she not happened to lift her eyes from the responseless screen at just the right moment, she would have also failed to notice the small congregation of familiar people, a few dozen paces away, just outside of a themed restaurant.

She shot her arm into the air and waved (a difficult gesture to make without the puffed duffel bag that was her luggage sliding off her other shoulder), but most of them were looking away and the ones who were facing her direction didn’t react. She moved closer to the group and waved harder, while also producing a “hey” loud enough to earn her a couple of extra looks from the strangers walking past her.

With great enthusiasm, she declared her arrival as soon as she was finally certain she was in close enough range to have their attention:

- and the prodigal son returns!

Jerylin, Raphael, Cage, Jax.

Holy celery sticks you guys have no idea how much I miss you.”

Nevertheless, she was excited about finally catching up with everyone. But she had her arms thrown into the air when she made the “prodigal son” remark, and was at this point slightly underwhelmed by the fact that there were no hugs.

“Did I miss anything too important?” trotting to a stop, she found herself somewhere to stand in the loose little group. Her out-of-place outfit, and the fact that there was a large piece of luggage over her shoulder, though, added to her attempt to blend in a considerable level of difficulty.

“And where are the other folks?” noticed the headcount was slightly off. A second question before there was time for anyone to consider answering the first.

Then she paused, flitting her eyes past the faces of everyone else. Finally she looked down for a moment, eyes on herself.

“Also, snap. Does Vegas have dress codes and stuff?”
