Peyton wiped the sweat from his brow as he added the final stone to the wall of his house, sealing the gaps with a layer of clay. It was well built for him, having taken 1 month of hard work. It was 4 bedrooms, and a total of 2 stories. The master bedroom was down stairs in the corner, adjacent to the staircase. They top floor had 3 bedrooms.

It was still early, so he decided to add the roof, for he had already assembled it, he just had to take the three pieces up, and apply them. Since the pieces were angled against the wall so he could pull them up to the top from the top floor, he began to lift them up one by one, sealing the wooden roof to the stone with clay. Once he had attached each piece to it's neighbor, he propped a ladder up against the front of the house, climbing up, and beginning to put on the shingles, applying them with nails, and sealing them with more clay.

Towards mid-day, he finished, going to the nearby spring to bathe, and full up his flask. The coolness of the water felt so good after a long hot day, and he soaked for nearly 30 minutes. It was after this that he walked back to the house, sitting in front of it, resting his back against the wall, and taking a long sip from his flask. He thought of his beloved, this has been her dream. To start a small community, and to enjoy the people within it. But she was gone now, and it was up to him to fulfill that dream of hers. He took another long sip from his flask, with a long satisfied sigh afterwards, and watched the road for newcomers.

As Kilian left the forest, packed with meat and the skin from the doe, he saw a stone house, 1 house in the middle of nowhere. He chuckled, not the strangest thing he has ever seen.

Maybe the homeowner would trade a night in a real bed for fresh meat and maybe he knows the way to the next city, couldn't be too far, who would be so insane and build his own house far away from a city?

Kilian shaked his head, he shouldn't waste time, standing around doing nothing won't help him, so he started to move to the house.

When he was certain that he was in shouting range, Kilian screamed a nice "Hello!" waving one of his arms with a big smile on his face. "My friend, I wondered if you could help me. I wandered for days and haven't seen a real bed in weeks, would you be so kind and let me rest for day here? I would even give you this fresh meat." Getting closer to the house and it's owner, Kilian retrieved a bundle full of nice looking doe meat. "Just hunted last evening."

Peyton looked at the man. "I may say yes to this deal, if I were to have a way to preserve the meat, but I do not. I do not believe myself capable of eating an entire doe in one night, even if I had a man such as yourself to help me. What if I offered you lodge here, and built you a house of your own, and in exchange, you hunted for food, feeding myself and you. I believe a man such as yourself deserves greater purpose than wondering from town to town, getting lost in the way, just so you can make enough money for your next journey. I believe that if you were to stay in the area, and feed this community that I am building in my wife's remembrance, you could make more money and have a more comfortable life style. I believe you should stay here." He finished, taking a sip from his flask, and going inside to get another flask. He filled it with a fine wine, making sure to fill his own flask, now empty with some of the delicious beverage. "Made by the monks, a well crafted beverage, I assure you. The least I can do is offer you a drink and place to eat." He waved the man inside. "Come along." then

It was then that he lit the fire place, and putting a pan in front of it. " You can cook the meat here." He stated, pointing at the fire place. He then grabbed a seat at the table, one that happened to be in the side closest to the fire, and turned it so it was facing the fire. He took a seat, and took a sip from his own flask. "So where does a man such as yourself hail from? One of the nearby villages? Or somewhere farther off?"

Kilian smiled at the man, a place he could call his home, heck it's crazy enough to work. "Well, I can say that I come from everywhere and nowhere, my parents and I never had a real home." Kilian looked through his back for some herbs he could use as spices, when he found some he looked back to the homeowner. "By the way, call me Kilian." Kilian started to cook the meat, carefully so that it doesn't burn or is too raw.

Kilian served it after he thought it was ready. "I may not be the best cook, but i know my way around herbs, you can actually learn so much from nature." He had some sort of a dreamy smile on his face. Snapping back into reality Kilian took out his knife and started to eat. "So you said that you wanna built a community here, in the name of your wife, how do you think people will know about it, I didn't and only found it through sheer luck."

The man smiles as Kilian introduced himself. "Names Peyton , nice to meet you." The man watched as he cooked , as the man had stated he definitely was no master chef, but he definitely seemed to know his way with herbs. Peyton took another sip from his flask, enjoying the sweet and savory taste, but knowing that he had to save the rest for the venison.

When the man asked the question, he was slightly taken aback, but ended up smoothly replying "This valley is surrounded by several neighboring villages just a day away in each direction. The road is a commonly traveled one, and is actually quite new. I figured I could recruit passerby such as yourself, in fact, I just finished building this house today! Just got the roof finished, and someone has already presented themselves. At this rate, we should have a small little community in a week's time, maybe less of we can get a builder or two on board. I assume you will need a little shop to sell your goods? I can start building that at dawn tomorrow. It won't be much, just enough for a few shelves, a counter, and some salt boxes, but it will have a small room in the back for you to sleep in. "

it was after this that he finally began to eat his venison, cutting it into pieces, before finally taking a bite. It definitely wasn't his wife's cooking, but it was the best he had eaten since she passed. "Hopefully a merchant will pass through town tomorrow, I need a female cow, you know, so I can get some milk around here. Some milk would make meals a lot nicer." He took another bite, chewing, and swallowing . Her then chased down the food with some more wine from his flask.

Quados Quados

The more Kilian heared, the more he liked the idea to settle down. "A whole shop with a room for myself, damn that's better then everything in my past." Trying his best serious voice without smiling too much, Kilian said. "Lord Peyton, I will be at your service, what is it that you desire my liege." Kilian bows slightly and has a big grin on his face.

Taking another bite from the meat, Kilian said. "Jokes aside, if you want I could hunt another deer and sell its meat and skin in one of those villages and I could look at the cows and chickens for you, if no merchant comes through here."

"That sounds good my friend." He said as he finishes the meat up, taking the other man's plate, and putting it in the dish basket. He would wash them at the spring in the morning. He looked at the man, before finally speaking in return. "I am going to retire for the night, of course after I finish this." He said, shaking the flask slightly , he wasn't a silly drunk, but he did enjoy a good drink with dinner. He took a large gulp, finishing what was left in his flask, before adding that to the dish basket as well, and heading into his room, and taking his scabbard off. He locked the door to his bedroom, because even though the man seemed trustworthy, it was still a necessary precaution. He set his scabbard against the wall drawing the swords hilt an inch from the scabbard, checking up on the blade, still sharp as usual.

Time Skip - Morning

Peyton woke up just before sunrise, and prepared some of the meat from last night, oh how he loves some venison sausage. It has a natural slight spice to it that have off such a distinct flavor. He scooped it onto a wooden plate he had, and began to walk to the spring, making sure to bring the dish basket with him. When he arrived in all but 30 seconds, he began to scrub the plates off with his hands, and rinse out the flasks. He filled up 4 flasks of water, before heading back to the house, and leaving two on the table for Kilian. With that, he walked out and began to move the pile of extra stones and wood planks over across the street.

He made a ring of stone, filling in the cracks with clay, and began working on the floor, sealing each plank to it's neighbor with pitch. Build two rows across, apply pitch as a sealant, repeat. In the still and quiet of the morning, he got the entire floor down, sitting in front of the house and taking a small break, wiping the few beads of sweat from his brow, and taking a nice long and refreshing sip from his flask.

Michelle

Michelle was walking through the forest almost silently, for she was but an orphan girl who had lost her parents when she was young. She has been living on her own, trying to survive, and her village people pushed her out. She just grabbed her bow and arrow, as she decided to go on a walk. She was quite hungry. It wasn't long before she smelt some food. She didn't know where it was coming from, so she just followed the smell. It was then that she saw a house in the middle of nowhere.' That's strange a house' she thought as she looked around making sure it was safe to go, after all, she was only 17. She wanted a place to sleep, somewhere warm and cozy. She walked out of the woods, and she saw a house and a man there. She just heard her stomach growling the 17-year-old was hungry and she wanted some food.

Peyton looks up from the house, noticing the girl with a nice shield, sword, and bow. Someone armed practically to the teeth. Maybe a scout? He drew his sword, the metallic shing resonating throughout the area. "State your business girl. We are but peaceful people, and so not want a fight. However if you so wish, I will gladly fight you, and win. However, if you come in peace, drop your weapons at my feet, and come drink some water from this flask." It wasn't until now that he noticed the condition of this girl, so skinny, her stomach growling. She was practically starving to death! He quickly waves her inside, handing her the flask. " Come, come eat, you must be starving. " He quickly heated up the sausage on a pan, grabbing one of the freshly cleaned wooden plates from a cabinet he had made inside his counters. He set the plate down, pushing the sausage from the man into her plate, and put the pan in the dish basket. "Where are your parents, your family?" He asked, practically interrogating her.

Michelle just looked at the man that was pointing a sword at her as she just looked at the man" I'm not here for trouble sir I was just passing through and I saw this house I was curious sir" she told him. Michelle dropped her weapons but kept hold of her bow as she was cautious of the man she saw he had food as she looked inside" okay" she told him as she followed him inside. When he asked about her family she got a bit sad tears rolling down her face as she wipes them away she didn't want them to see her weak" um.... they died I have no family I'm actually an orphan sir" she told him. Michelle just looked up at the man" my parents well they were Knights" she says as she looked down eating the sausage having her bow on the ground next to her in case anything happens she didn't want to be killed but the man seemed nice enough

"I see." He goes outside and grabs her sword and shield, bringing both inside. "Here you go, don't make me regret it." He then put some more sausage on the pan, hoping to feed the girl as much as possible. "You can stay here as long as you like." He then walked to the door. "I gotta house to build, you can come outside of you like, or you can stay in here by the fire. It's your choice, but it is starting to warm up outside anyways." He then went back to the house he was working on, building the first layer of the stone wall, sealing the cracks with clay, and making sure to leave a spot big enough for a door frame.

Kilian came out of the room that Peyton gave him till his own home would be ready. Kilian was a little shocked that he slept so long.

He was on his way down the stairs when he heard talking, a girl and Peyton. When he arrived downstairs, he just saw how Peyton left the house"Morning my Lady." He bowed a little and looked back up to the girl. "So are you a new guest of Peyton or were you here befor I arrived yesterday?" Looking down he saw the bow of the girl and his face became a little sour. "I don't want to be rude, but if you don't intend to use your bow in the next time then you should unhook the string, if you leave it on the whole time then your bow will be damaged."

Smiling at the Girl, Kilian leaned against the wall behind him.

Mitchelle just looked at the man as she nodded" yeah I just got here today I saw a strange house middle of nowhere as I was searching for food I smelt something good" she say as she just smiled" I just follow the food and now I'm here" she said as she looked at him" yeah I know thank you thou Mr...... uh, what's your name i'm Michelle you don't have to call me My lady" she told him. She just looked up as she looked outside' maybe I should go outside the other guy said it was getting warm outside' she thought as she bite her lip she was a bit shy about these people but they seemed like nice people.

Peyton wiped the sweat from his brow, and took a sip from his flask as he completed another two layers, making the actual walls 3 stones high, and the foundation one stone high, for a total of four stones high. The shop portion was a rectangle, and behind that there was a small square with a hole in it for a door. He walked back into the house, and sat on his shins, starting on another layer.

"Michelle, a nice name, call me Kilian..." Kilian walked to the door and looked back. "So Michelle, you wanna stay with Peyton and me and build with us together his dream?" Kilian smiled and left the building.

He looked around and saw Peyton working like a maniac. "Lord Peyton, you don't need to build the whole town in one day." Chuckling a little Kilian walked over to the new building. "So this is going to be my own Shop... I kinda feel bad now, you are nearly done with your work and I stood just up." Now laughing Kilian looked around. "So in with direction is now with village, I don't intend to wander the whole world again."

Mitchelle just looked at him" nice to meet you Mr Killen" she say as she went outside"I can help I don't know how to build but I could at least help just tell me what to do" she says as she just smiled" yeah Mr. Killan I like to stay beside I don't have anywhere else to go this can be my home" she said happily. She just watched Peyton build the shop as she smiled it looked so cool she wished she can do that but she didn't know how to she just watched him and the other guy" I wish to help I can learn something new besides being good at the bow" she said happily she was happy she had something to eat earlier and glad she found this place.

He pointed up the road with his hand. "Just follow the path. It will take you there. Merchants flow through here daily, in fact I have gotten to know a few by name. If you really want, then you can go, but I think waiting is the best option, there are enough raiders along this road that the merchants have to pay bodyguards to escort them. Gerald should be coming through today, and he sells and buys horses and cows. You could stay and hunt instead, that way you can sell some of the meat and earn some money."

He then waves to Michelle, showing her how the stones go in place, and then are sealed with the clay that dries and holds everything together. "This method is quite simple really, even you could do it. He hands her his bucket of clay, and gave a her half of the stones, before going and getting another bucket of clay for himself.

Kilian watched both of them building a little and then went back into the house to gather his things, as he left the house again, he grabbed one of the flasks full of water. "Peyton, I took one of your flasks, don't worry, I will be back shortly."

Kilian wandered back into the forest, searching for any kind of tracks and any useful herbs. "Wow, I didn't know that this would grow here." Kilian looked stunned as he picked some of the rarer herbs. "If I remember correctly, then I could use this as medicine." He gathered some more until he heard the cracking of dry twigs.

Kilian turned around and saw a giant deer, but as he grabbed one of his arrows the animal ran away. Kilian stormed after it but could only see how it disappeared into the woods. "Well, you can't always have the luck that they stay still." Kilian started to search for ne tracks and found a new set of them. "Let's see if I can find it."

Peyton came back with the bucket full of clay, and began to add other layers, he did the work twice as fast as Michelle, but considering she was new, she seemed to be doing a great job. Art this rate they would start working on the roof in no time at all! He wiped the sweat from his brow once again, another 2 layers already finished between the two of them, since each layer was about a foot, he figured that three more layers would do the trick. It was already about 11:00 o'clock judging by the position of the sun, but he was happy with the progress so far, and he took another sip from his flask, jogging down to the spring to refill his flasks, and jogging back. He handed one to Michelle. "Drink, you have earned it, you have worked hard and been a big help to me today." He took a swig from his own flask, and got back to work, applying more stones, and sealing them with clay. "Hopefully Kilian will bring back a large dear, bring business to this quaint little outpost."

Never in her life would she have imagined herself in this situation. Allison grunted as she tugged harder at the ropes that were neatly tied around the horse and two cows she had bought in the village she had just left the afternoon before. Her parents had been farmers, so the redhead was familiar with dealing with the stubborn animals, but now that she was alone? Everything proved to be much more difficult. It had been a few months now that William had left her, and in her opinion she had gotten quite good at learning to live on her own, but some tasks seemed to randomly come to challenge her patience at times.

"Oh come on you...you cow." Although it was meant as an insult, it didnt do much to curb her growing anger at their laziness for the fact that they were, indeed, cows. The only reason she had bought these animals in the first place was because a nice gentleman in the village she had left had correctly guessed the kind of situation she was in. Thankfully for her, in the few months she had been alone she had found various jobs to earn her enough money for these beasts. The man had suggested she get a horse to get from place to place faster, although this particular stallion wasnt even broken in yet. Allison knew how to train a horse to ride, but she didnt have the energy as of now, so she resorted to dragging the stubborn boy around. The cows were for food or trading, whichever she managed to run into first.

As she tugged the animals along, headed for the next village over, she happened upon a small house that seemed very well built for something in the middle of nowhere. Allison stopped in her tracks, pushing her sweaty hair out of her eyes to get a better look at the odd scene in front of her. There were two people, a guy and a younger girl. The two seemed to be busily working on what looked to be an unfinished house beside the house that was already standing. Curious as to what might be going on, she tugged again at the ropes to lead the animals over to the two strangers.

"Ah, excuse me? I'm very sorry, I dont mean to be a bother... I was wondering what you two were building here? It's seems a little strange to put some houses in the middle of nowhere.."

"Well that's my house right there." He said pointing at the house across the street . "Oh and the one I am building is for another member of our little outpost, he is currently out hunting at the moment." He said as if everything made perfect sense. "I'll trade you a house for that horse and one of the cows. What do you specialize in?" He asked this with a trademark grin on his face. He took another long sip of water.

Michelle simply kept working, figuring it best to let Peyton do the talking. Peyton was the one with the dream, one that she would become aware of it he told her. She placed a stone, filing in the gaps with clay. She placed another one, filled in the gaps, she did th I again and again, motivated to work for even reasons she herself didn't know.
(Controlling Michelle while Texangamer Texangamer is at work per her request)

Allison turned to look at the house that was completely standing, admiring the finished product.

“You actually built that? I cant imagine how long that took you,” she then turned to look at the house the girl was still focused on. Allison wasnt sure if she knew she was there, or if she was so invested in the work that everything else was drowned out. It didnt matter to her though as she gawked at the buildings, “I admire the effort you put into ‘em...”

After a few more moments of silent admiration, the redhead turned back to the older man that had addressed her. He was fairly attractive, in an older sort of way. Exactly what he was trying to do here was beyond Allison though.

“And luckily for you these cows are for trading... I suppose the horse too... but you want to give me a house in return? I dont mean to sound rude, but what makes you think I need somewhere to stay?” Of course she had to be stubborn. She didnt know who these people were. She was just merely curious as to what these people were up to, and here they were trying to offer her a home... she needed one, that much was certain, but they didnt need to know that.

What do you specialize in..?

What in the world did he mean by that? Maybe what she did well?

“And um.. I suppose I’m fairly good at farming... mostly looking after the animals and gardening. Ive been told im a good cook too!”

He gave her a flask of water. "It's not a matter of what you need. It's a matter of what you want. What most would want is a nice comfortable living, in a nice comfortable house, surrounded by nice comfortable people. I need the people in this community, as small as it may be. Just as you need a stable income. This is a commonly traveled road, so people will come through here, and buy things that they need. So I ask again. What do you specialize in fair maiden? " He took a large gulp from his own flask. "I assure you it's not toxic, if you would like I can get you water just out of the spring to prove my honesty. Would you like something to eat by any chance, or are you not hungry? I can feed you free of charge."

Despite her initial distrust in the man, something about him made her smile. A genuine, warm smile. Something she hadnt done in a while... Allison took the flask happily and took a swig from it, showing the man that she didnt need him to go out of his way to fetch some fresher water. The liquid tasted amazing, its coolness definitely something she hadnt realized she needed. Finally she nodded.

"Fair enough.. I suppose I could use somewhere to stay, but please tell me you dont intend building me a whole other building for me to sleep," despite herself, she gave a small chuckle. The whole idea seemed a bit insane to her, if not very ambitious, "you seem so busy already...If you really mean what you say, and I can stay here, at least let me help out."

Suddenly and a bit comically, her stomach began to rumble, answering the question about the food.

"By the way, I'm Allison. It's very nice to meet you," She woudlve held her hand out in a polite greeting except that she had to keep both hands on the ropes in order to control the cows and horse, "and I'm afraid I'm a bit confused about the question? If you are asking what I'm good at, as I mentioned before I'm pretty good at farming. Takin' care of the animals and crops and stuff? I grew up on a farm, so I would say I'm capable. My family and some folks that used to live around us said my cooking was fantastic, so I suppose I can cook too."

Peton thought hard for a second about the housing situation. I could give you land. You can farm for the community. Imagine if you were to start trading cattle through here! You could make a fortune. " He then seemed to be in deep thought. This woman seemed pretty honest, so she would want to repay him somehow. "And whatever you make off the property I will get 5% of. Does that sound fair? I wouldn't have been able to have a farm without you anyways." He took another swig from his flask, and began working on the stones as he talked, Michelle was getting ahead of him. " I reckon our hunter will be here soon, better get this little shop set up. Are you familiar with building? I can teach you, laying stone is quite simple really, the girl behind me just learned today. "
