Personality: Valerian, or just Val, isn't the sleazy engineer that works to get the job done, no matter how slack jawed he may appear to be, that isn't his gig. Val isn't the cheesy, action movie hero either, blasting baddies with one hand and bringing a mech to life with the other. No, he's more of somewhere in between. He enjoys his time alone, as it gives him time to think. But, he more so enjoys his time with others, as he's quick to a joke, or to light a smoke. It isn't strange for him to suddenly walk off from a conversation either, as he probably left a toaster on, or whatever the excuse is, but frankly, his mind is always working, and sometimes when an idea is put into his head, he has to act upon it before he forgets what it might've been.
This erratic behavior has had others believe him to be eccentric, and behind his back, many have called his room the "Mad Scientist's Lab." But few would say it to his face due to his incredibly friendly, if not forced attitude towards others, and his near fanatical volunteering for the more dangerous jobs, like taking care of spacewalks and making sure the engines and functioning properly. If anything, he is a somewhat valued member on board, and though he may not be the most charming of the Merlin, he would most certainly be missed by the AI he loves to talk to, no matter how simple they may be.
-Good Traits:
Selfless- Valerian would more than likely be the man to sacrifice himself, or put himself into the line of fire than his teammates. Not that this comes up all to much, but he would rather he would go through a suicidal mission than to let valued teammates run the risk of their lives being wasted.
Master of the Craft- Though he does have a certificate in engineering, he doesn't know everything there is out there, he does make a few good educated guesses. When using unknown tech to him, he can quickly find out how it works by reverse engineering it back at his lab.
Ingenious Improv- In the heat of the moment, Val can make do with a little elbow grease, grit, and a will to do. Val can jury-rig quick repairs or zip guns to improve survival rates for those that are leaving for battle.
-Bad Traits:
Scatterbrained- No matter how many ideas might zing through his brain, he can't contain them all. He doesn't have the time to write it down, because by the time he looks at the strange words like "Sonic Nades", he scratches his head in confusion at the two strange words put together.
Not Quite The Master of Charms- Though he does do much for the logistics and tech department, he does not know how to talk to people much at all. Due to his social anxiety, he prefers to keep his sentences to short quips. He finds that people are much too judgmental for him, and confides all of his time with machines. This is the same reason why he stays up for long periods of time.
Long Nights- Valerian is always trying to innovate, and spends many hours working. He runs the day and night shift, is does not get much sleep. To compensate, he has one too many energy boosters. To compare him to normal person would be like describing a house in construction. After some time, he ran out of nails, so instead of running to the store, he started using scotch tape in its place.
