indigo lockhearst
full name
indigo lockhearst.
nicknames
her family sometimes refers to her as indie.
age
seventeen.
birthday
july 7th.
gender
female.
sexuality
heterosexual.
place of birth
district 8, panem.
district specialty
textiles.
appearance
height
indigo is about 5'1 / 155cm.

weight
somewhere around 95 lbs / 43 kg.

hair
her hais is a mix between blonde and a copperr-ish red that can best be described as strawberry blonde. it falls to her shoulderblades in slight waves and can be found left open except when she's working, at which point she prefers to keep it up as high as possible and away from her eyes.

eyes
indigo's eyes are a brilliant, crystal blue.

build
indigo has a very thin build, partly because of her dna and also due to the lack of a proper diet. district 8 is a relatively poor district to begin with, and indigo sits rather uncomfortably at the bottom of that barrel.

modifications
the only marking on indigo's body is her half of her soulmate tattoo. it's on the back of her shoulder, and represents the light side of the yin and yang symbol. what makes the symbol unique are the small black tendrils surrounding it that make it look like it's on fire. indigo suspects that when she meets her soulmate and the tattoo completes, it will resemble a sun.

face claim

our lives

ours
persona
personality
indigo is a perfect combination of both of her parents.

from her father she developed a
headstrong
attitude and a tendency to spit fire whenever she deemed necessary. she learned how to stand up for herself and those around her, and how to
rebel
against the system in ways so subtle that one might miss it if they weren't looking hard enough. of course, there have also been several instances when she hadn't been as subtle as she hoped, but that's
poor planning
on her part. thinking ahead hasn't always been her forte, and her
impulsive
nature doesn't help much with it, but it's not really for lack of trying. for the most part, indigo does try to think before making decisions, but given the way she grew up and the circumstances of her living situation, thinking hasn't always been a luxury she could afford.

from her mother, on the other hand, indigo gained a sort of
charm
and girl-next-door type of appearance that helps her get away with all those other things. most of the time. indigo grew up to be
kind
and
nurturing
and always willing to help those in need, and when she speaks, people tend to listen. she may be small, and she may be poor, but she has a
strong voice
that commands the attention of the people around her. it's not always perfect โ€” indigo's impulsiveness means that she might say things without thinking them through sometimes, but she's smart enough to know when to keep herself on a tighter leash in case peacekeepers are around. and, unfortunately, indigo's
optimism
and willingness to see the good in (most) people is something others easily prey upon. she never makes the same mistake twice, but in the games, she can't afford to make that mistake even once because it could cost her her life.

putting together the traits she inherited from her parents could be a dangerous combination, and quite frankly, it's all indigo has to rely on because other than speed and a knack for healing, she doesn't have much that would help her once she's in the arena.

hobbies
sewing ; running ; getting lost in her own thoughts 99% of the time ; foraging ; reading, whenever she can ; learning new things.

fears
indigo is terrified of heights. she's not sure where the fear stems from, and it's more irrational than anything, but she freezes up and is prone to having a panic attack. she prefers referring to it as an allergy though, instead of acknowledging it as a fear.

ailments
there's probably a term that explains indigo's mood swings, but whatever it is, she doesn't know it. she's a little unstable โ€” and she would say rightfully so โ€” but it often hinders her ability to make reasonable, logical decisions.

skills
indigo is a natural at healing, which means she's a good ally to have. she can do wonders with a needle and thread, which some may not think is a very useful ability for the games, but it's definitely proved to be quite fatal in her hands before. aside from this, she's quite agile, and she's an extremely fast runner. she has to make up for what she grossly lacks in physical strength, after all.

background
indigo's parents were high school sweethearts that got married as soon as they graduated. within a year of that, they had their first child, and four years later they had indigo. despite living a poverty ridden life, they were happy with each other, and for a while, that was all that mattered.

things changed shortly before indigo turned eight. there was a collapse in the factory where her mother worked and she was one of several casualties that day. needless to say, her death made things much harder on the family, both financially and emotionally.

indigo continued to grow, and her father continued to struggle when it came to feeding both his children. there were many days when indigo sustained herself with parts of a single meal throughout the day, and several nights when she went to sleep hungry.

her only solace was when she began school and was able to distract herself. indigo was a fairly bright student, but she sure was a crowd favourite for other reasons โ€” whether it was for her ability to make friends easily, or because she nearly broke a student's nose when he tried to steal her mother's ring. she tries not to think about the fact that she broke her own hand in the process, not realising that punching someone in the face could hurt so badly, especially with her weak bones.

when indigo hit the age of thirteen, she offered to volunteer at the local clinic. she'd already taught herself how to sew while at home, and because she was rather good at it โ€” and had some prior experience stitching her brother up when he got into fights โ€” she thought it would be nice to use her skills to help people.

while most women went on to work in factories in district eight, indigo seemed to have a promising career in the medical field, and it was a better paying job in the district since it was much harder to do, and not entirely favourable either. she wasn't going to get paid till she turned eighteen and graduated from school โ€” and managed to avoid being reaped for the games โ€” but she knew she had a job waiting for her once that was all done.

it was shortly after indigo turned seventeen that things began to change again. she had always grown up with feelings of distaste toward the capitol and peacekeepers, and many of the citizens in district eight shared those views, though those feelings were intensified one day when her brother, who was caught dealing in the black market, had been sentenced to a public flogging.

it wasn't unusual for someone who broke the rules, but the fact that it was her brother filled indigo with a different kind of fire. there wasn't much she could do to act on it, and she knew that, but indigo got an opportunity a few days later, and it wasn't something she could pass up.

two peacekeepers stopped by at the clinic to be patched up after a brief fight broke out in the main square. indigo had been tasked with stitching them up, which wasn't uncommon for her. she tended to a lot of people, and sometimes peacekeepers were among them. she was only a volunteer, and still only seventeen, so stitches were about the extent of what she was allowed to do with a patient, and because one of these two peacekeepers had been the same one to flog her brother, indigo laced their stitches with a little something extra that only took effect a day later, killing the peacekeeper in his sleep.

indigo suspected that if a few more days had passed, they'd figure out that the poison had been administered by the very person who treated the peacekeeper, and if it came to that, she'd likely face repercussions as extreme as death. as it so happened, however, the day after he died was the day of the reaping. whether it was fate giving her a chance to avoid punishment, or fate punishing her in its own way, indigo did not know, but when she heard her name being called out, she tried to look at it as a second chance. she had a better chance at survival in the arena than if she stayed behind. or, at the very least, she had more time.

the majority of the citizens of district eight, however, believe that their chosen female tribute has a real fighting chance to come home a victor, which would make her the first one to do so in decades.
aidan lockhearst
father
though aidan was often out and about trying to make money and feed his two children all on his own, he tried to be around as much as he could, and indigo realises that he's only ever done things to keep his family safe and well fed. she holds a great deal of respect for her father and they have a close bond, especially since, whenever they're at home, they often discuss their shared interest of hating on the capitol and peacekeepers. he wasn't happy at all to have to watch her be sent off into the games, but he has confidence in her, and knows she'll fight hard to stay alive, if only to stick it to the capitol.
eloise lockhearst
mother
indigo remembers very little of her mother since the woman died before she turned nine-years-old. regardless, she tries to stay close to her mother in any way she can, and she's never seen without her mother's engagement ring hanging from a thin silver chain around her neck. while she knows that selling it in the black markets could be what the family needed to lead a life where they'd be slightly less impoverished than they already are, indigo can't bring herself to let go of the only thing she has of her mother. as tributes are allowed a single token to take into the games, indigo chose to keep her mother's ring.
tyler lockhearst
older brother
tyler and indigo are close since they've always had to support each other when their father was busy working. as they grew up, they began to bicker a lot more, since both siblings had a fire in them that refused to be tamed, though tyler had more of a penchant for trouble and getting into fights. instead of working or volunteering, he resorted to stealing and dealing in the black market, though he got caught eventually. while they may fight often, they are also dedicated to making sure the other is safe. while he knows there isn't much he can do for her while she's in the arena, he's confident that she has a good chance at coming back home to the family.

Ambrosius Wellvale
full name

nicknames
most of his peers call him ambrose
age

gender

sexuality
heterosexual
place of birth
district 2, panem
district specialty
masonry
appearance
height
189 cm - 6'2

weight
76 kg - 167.6 lbs

hair
ambrose has dark brown hair with a fringe that covers part of his forehead and, when he does not feel bothered to have it trimmed, even part of his eye. during more formal ocasions or when training, he often sports a more slick back haircut.

eyes
a light blue fire that scorches the earth with determination and strength. people are often drawn to the light hue in his eyes and ambrose does pride himself on this feature.

build
ambrose might not have the most hercules build out of the past district 2's tributes, but it would be wrong to underestimate him because of this. despite being on the slimmer side, his body is still trained to have an advanteous strength and stamina.

modifications
aside from the soulmate tattoo that appears on the back of his right shoulder, ambrose has no other modifications. the cosmic ink resembles the dark side of the ying and yang symbol. there are also some strange twirls running in crescent around the incomplete symbol. libentina theorizes that it is meant to represent fire but ambrose does not care enough to bother with any theories.

โ the victor pays the price โž
persona
personality
For someone born and raised in a society that denounces emotions as a weakness, it may come as a surprise to find out Ambrose is often at a mercy of them. Behind the locked facade of even temper and collected mind, an unbidden tempest of love, care and want domineers the soul. Among the stillness, his heart beats, and perhaps more deeply than desired. Even though Ambrose has learned how to appear as unwavering as possible, there are still pieces of him unwilling to be tamed. There are still emotions taking apart bit by bit the rational blueprints of his mindscape, a thread leading him into a labyrinth too easy to get lost in. It is the guest he can't get rid of, no matter how treacherous its identity may turn out to be. His feelings might make him human, but in a game where humanity is the one thing tested, these emotions might not be something he can afford.

Lauded by status and potential from a very young age, Ambrose has not grown up with in shortage of confidence. Rarely does self-doubt or a fear of failure plague this male's life, his dauntless core having formed a shield against these things -- almost to the point of arrogance. Aside from his confidence, his charms also lie in his easy smiles, teasing smirks and humorous remarks. Social in a way words run like water and captivating verses flow as if beckoned by springs of life. Ambrose knows how to lead a conversation and, although not desperate for attention, strives for a crown ornamented with praise.

He lives for pride, breathes determination because history is always written by the victors and he refuses to be buried and forgotten under the footnotes of panem's chronicle. Ambition fuels and his passion burns so brightly he has to be careful not to get blinded by it. He's an icarus willing to risk flying too close to the sun if it means victory, has an expanding greed in him not even his best virtue might be able to defeat. Ambrose hasn't sacrificed his humanity yet during the climb to the sunmit, but with a life so deeply rooted in pledged victory, it is the question how far this aspiring tribute is willing to go. His perseverance might deliver him the throne woven out of the materia only his dreams have been able to afford till now, but it could very well also be thing leading him to his own demise. Ambrose is one with only goals in his mind, so focused on the heavens that he forgets what transpires on earth.

A boy so captivated by the glory calling his name, he might not be aware he's bargaining with more than his life.

hobbies
surprisingly, ambrose does take enjoyment in cooking. it helps him relax after an adrenaline filled training and makes it easier to stick to a diet regimen as he can cater it to his own tastes. aside from cooking. this tribute also likes collecting photos and crafting stone figures.

fears
underneath the dauntless exterior is a fearful current of soiling the reputation of his family and district 2. he fears losing praise and obtaining disappointment. though, perhaps the most secret one of all, ambrose fears dying a painful death.

ailments
there are no ailments diagnosed.

skills
while ambrose's main strength lies with long blade weapons, especially swords, his skills are not solely restricted to those of physical origin. his strategic prowess is certainly not to be overlooked, being able to quickly conjure different battle plans and adapt on the spot. there is also a leader like quality to him you also can't deny being useful if you happen to be lucky enough to belong to his group. his lack in agility is largely covered by his strength.

background

Ambroseโ€™s tale might have begun at birth, but his purposed legacy is one wreathed out of familial blood and past glory.

The Wellvale family commands a significant amount of influence throughout the second district of Panem, their lineage glittering like [blood] diamonds under the light. Closely tied to the capitol and outspoken supporters of the wicked games, the Wellvales have nestled themselves into a powerful position. Not only has the Capitol favoured the familyโ€™s tributes, rumours circle around that rose scented letters have arrived at the family's residence a few times, speaking of an endorsement one could not simply afford to lose. It was the first rose scented letter that tethered the future of the family to the Hunger Games, a purpose that could not be denied sinking into their bones.

For Ambrose's family, there has always been an undeniable honour tied to the Hunger Games, having bred at least 4 victors and having trained 10 more. To be a Wellvale is to breathe victory; it is to bleed nothing more than glory and to honor a legacy people die for to get. Ambrose had been no exception. It was that very winter day, when the son was delivered kicking and screaming, that destiny was written. He was crowned future victor that very moment and, as if it was something obtained solely by birth right, got raised as nothing less.

It has been three decennia since a family member won the honorable title of victor, so the Wellvales invest most of their energy in ensuring the following generation knows at least one. Ambrose is trained from a very young age alongside his two year older cousin Ignis. Together, their life only knows the sore aches in muscles, the awful taste of pills meant to help sculp the body into something undefeated, and one drilling mantra: be ashamed to die until you win. There is a bond between the two Wellvale boys, a camaraderie shaped by the same spilled blood, sweat and tears. There is a rivalry too, a force to do better, but nothing that could shatter the foundation. Ambrose and Ignis go through life together, depend on one another because to carry the weight of the family is sometimes crushing. It becomes a little more bearable with two, and with two they are for quite some time.

That is until a young girl infiltrates the two-man-group with a bright smile and fiery gaze.

Three it is then, and what a group they make.

Ambrose learns more and more about life, or more so what completes it. His goal might get him the accolade he has dreamed to have, but it is the friends around him who provide the love he needs. The trio seems unshakeable, and he continues to believe in the invincibility even when Ignis volunteers for the 70th Hunger Games. Ambrose believes his cousin will return โ€“ right until the boy has to watch him screaming as skin burns and peels from the bones.

[ Ignis dies without making it to the top 4.]

It doesnโ€™t really dawn into him till the real victor stands on the podium during the victory tour; a hollow gazed girl who does not make it halfway through before screaming like Ignis did. She is whisked away and returns later on, voice and expression sedated as she finishes the speech. [She is later known as Crazy Annie Cresta]. Ambrose canโ€™t focus on the speech though, the fourteen-year old boyโ€™s attention instead seized by the shift of weight, now pressing more heavy than before. He is overcome by a sharp pain and an overwhelming emptiness. It is that day when Ambrose truly realizes that Ignis is not going to come back. That the Wellvaleโ€™s legacy entirely falls upon him.

How does Ambrose deal with grief? He tries to kick it down as he has done with any other fear. He tries to go on with life as quickly as possible, though sometimes falls through the cracks of the path and ends up weeping in the dark hollows of life. He tries to unleash the burning anger in punches and sword-fighting till blisters and blood line his palm and knuckles. He tries so hard to forget โ€“ to deny what he has lost.

[It doesnโ€™t work.]

He is not alone, though. A loud girl stands by his side, screaming all the words he has kept inside to the heavens, in the cold of the night. She shares his sorrows, his anger, and battles it with an unnerving amount of fire. She helps him and Ambrose learns how to convert his grief into determination. The two make a pact to train even harder than before, emblazes their goal with a new kind of inferno.

Ambrose volunteers alongside his best friend for the 74th Hunger Games, eyes set on the title and willing to do whatever it takes to win.

It is the only way to bring glory to his family.

It is the only way he can keep his cousin's spirit alive.
August Wellvale
father
august wellvale is a proudful man and has dedicated his whole life to upholding the prestige of the family name. as praising the man was of everything that ambrose did well, he did not hold back on punishing his son whenever he found something lacking either. it was a constant push and pull between laudation and reproach -- something that held their relationship together while also tearing it apart. it was not easy to live as August's legacy and Ambrose hated how that was the only thing his father saw him as. nevertheless, he admits that without his father's training, he would not be on the same level as he is now. they have a good relationship now and ambrose is thankful to have him as his father.
Libentina Starling
best friend
the girl who stormed the fortress and managed to obtain a permanent seat in the throne room among the two other princes. libentina is one who goes through life with a thousand sparks and zero regrets. a friendship had blossomed between the two at the early age, the girl being a piece that seamlessly fitted into a puzzle ambrose already thought was completed. they continued to grow up together and even though the sudden death of a dear one briefly caused a rift between the two, they ended up closer than ever before. ambrose regards libentina as the one person he would not mind losing to, knowing that the girl is worth both his and ignis's legacy. she is the spark that keeps his world alight, even when the universe is pitch black.
Ignis Wellvale
cousin
they were bound by blood but their bond was never meant to stay within those confines. the relationship ambrose had with his cousin stretched beyond borders of familial friendliness, the two growing up so closely tied to each other it almost felt like they were two halves of the same coin. despite being two years older, ignis was his equal; the brother he didn't have. ignis is also the one death he still struggles to accept. alas, the ghost of his cousin drives him more than the reputation of the family. ignis is the fire unbidden by time or death.
