Realistic or Modern True Colors of Love

Mary looked around as the door was opened of the SUV and she stepped out carrying a small brown shoulder bag with her. She took a deep breath and crossed the street with some quick steps. It was a weird feeling to be there but she hoped it would eventually subside. The princess stepped into the bakery and breathed in the scent of freshly baked items. It looked cozy and she looked around if she could spot James somewhere. A big part of her hoped dearly that he would show up and she could spend the afternoon as every other person in here and enjoy her date. Somehow she had watched too many romantic movies about the man not showing up and her lack of experience in the whole dating scene wasn't helping either.

As someone behind her wanted to enter the small shop, she stepped forward making space for the person. She nervously pushed her fake glasses up the bridge of her nose. At least for now blending in with the small crowd seemed to work as none of the patrons eyed her or had looked up from their current occupation.

The walk from his office to the bakery was short and James quickly traversed the distance. He kept his hands in his pocket and stared down at the pavement the entire walk while the nervousness from the week came to a rolling boil. "What are you doing?" He repeated to himself over and over as he walked, eliciting strange looks from several passersby.

With the same sense of a man approaching his impending doom, James turned the final corner and saw the bakery. His eye was drawn to the door, and there she was, standing right there at the entrance. He stopped for a second and waited, half hoping she would make the decision for him. That she would realize that she was making a mistake by showing up and meeting with some nobody.

After a few seconds she stepped aside and let someone else in and he knew that he had to go through with it. He stepped forward and made his way to the door. As he opened it he smiled and said, "Hello!" He then mentally kicked himself for being too enthusiastic.

Mary was about to enter the bakery as she heard a familiar male voice behind her. She turned around to see who was approaching her and a smile appeared on her lips. "Hello. Glad you could make it.", she greeted them and started smiling at him. She noticed his enthusiasm and found it to be cute. The redhead walked inside the bakery before turning back to James. "How are you, today?", she asked him as she stepped inside the bakery once he opened the door. She turned to him and randomly placed her hands into the front pockets of her jeans.

She looked around as the warm air enveloped her and smiled at him. Unlike her usual demeanour she felt quite nervous about meeting James. It wasn't because he wasn't nice or anything. But dates weren't her forte at all. So she still hoped that this would go well.
