Name: Yuri Kapila

Age: 23

Faction: Imperial Guard, 56th Allaren Guard (Rank: Trooper)

Equipment:

  • x1 M35 M-Galaxy Short pattern lasgun w/required equipment, bayonet, and power packs
  • x1 standard Allaren flak-armor set w/helmet and rebreather
  • x3 fragmentation grenades
  • x1 standard Allaren stub-revolver (Caliber: .35) with extra rounds
  • All additional Guardsman equipment (including the Uplifting Primer).

Personality:

Trooper Kapila is a rather plain man. With the sort of religious reverence to the Emperor expected of the Imperium's citizens, gained from a lifetime of prayers, sermons, and reading scripture, he is a very duty-oriented man and not one to slouch at standards expected of Guardsman. This comes in part from his belief that the Emperor requires nothing but his best- and from the very real observation that lazy Guardsman are shot. He, however, privately holds no delusions about what's out there- like any other surviving Guardsman, he knows well that the info in the Uplifting Primer is at best a half-decent source of toilet paper. Very aware that he is one soldier among billions, and that his individual survival isn't even of consideration to most Imperial commanders, he finds solace in gritting his teeth and doing his duty to the Emperor.

Biography:

Yuri Kapila was born twenty-three years beforehand on the Civilized World of Allaren III. A relatively "natural" planet, not dedicated toward any one center of production, Allaren III served as a local trading hub, where starships would come and go. Kapila himself came from a lower-class military family; at the age of 18 he volunteered for the Plantary Defense Force, which mostly concerned itself with periodic, brief Ork appearances, which had come from a WAAAGH millenia ago. For a period of time, he served on peacetime duty; this changed when an Orkish infestation suddenly became known in one of Allaren's northern continents. He was promptly shipped to the area to contain the infestation, with hundreds of others.

Kapila promptly proved his worth in the coming battle. While the Orks were weak there, barely above Gretchins indeed, they proved to be a daunting foe, given the number of them and their sheer unwillingness to surrender or retreat. Armed with spears, crude shootas, and bomms of various kind, the Orks charged the PDF lines again and again, seemingly numberless. Kapila scored multiple kills with his lasgun and bayonet in this period of time. Eventually, the Orkish waves began to break through, however. It was observed that the Orks had suicidal courage; some in fact leaped onto Leman Russes with satchels of explosives and blew the tanks to chunks. With a lack of proper air support and the PDF general proving incapable of adapting to the situation, Kapila found himself in the middle of a swarming melee, in which countless Orks and PDF troopers fell, creating a charnel scene.

In the end, Kapila proved to be a survivor, now with many kills on his belt. He was promptly recommended for tithe status, transfer to the Guard, due to his capability being above and beyond that of the rest of the PDF around him. He was placed within the 56th Allaren Guard, and shipped off-world at the end of the year, where his first action past this initial trial by fire came to be the Tercian Crusade.

Strengths:

Kapila is a competent shot with his lasgun. Owing to its very low recoil, he has drilled and practiced until he can fairly consistently strike heads or other weak points, and is mentally sharp enough to recognize these quickly in the heat of battle. Beyond this, he is a good bayonet fighter, and has brought down many Allaren-based Orks with it fixed. He definitively has numbers on his side; the strategy of the 56th Allaren after all is overwhelming infantry assaults. If there is something "special" to Kapila, it is his luck: time and time again, he has found himself in deadly situations, and somehow come out without serious harm or death.

Weaknesses:

Kapila is nothing more than a standard Guardsman, alone. With a set of Allaren flak armor, nearly useless against anything more than a lasrifle or stubber, and nothing even close to augments or enhancements, he is unlikely to survive a blow by one of the galaxy's larger horrors. His lasrifle, while respectably strong, has little use against power-armor or other heavy threats (unless, of course, it is aimed for a weak section, such as jointage).

Army Name: 56th Allaren Guard

Army Description/appearance:

The 56th Allaren is perhaps the most generic regiment there is, at least to its own members. Copying the widespread standard of Cadian dress, it is a standard Guard regiment in the service of the Emperor.

Army Specialty: The 56th Allaren focuses on crushing infantry assaults, with a pool of Leman Russ tanks for reserve armored support.

Army Weakness: The 56th is not known for its extremely likeable commanders- they have no respect for the lives of the men that serve them, and indeed the standard strategy of the 56th is to simply open up with artillery, then send in waves of soldiers to absorb bullets so that the tanks can remain safe while destroying the enemy.

Army History:

The 56th Allaren is a newly-formed regiment, sent out to support the Tercian Crusade, and using the standard Allaran regimental fashion (which is a direct clone of the common Cadian dress and armor appearance). Its members are mostly drawn from the best of the PDF, and its leaders in much the same fashion. As it is a very "new" regiment, it has very little history to speak of- its first baptizing in flame will come with the battles of the Tercian Crusade.
