Katoro Kawashima
T H E B A S I C S
Name: Katoro Kawashima
Nicknames: “K”, Dog, Crazy Kid, Berserker, Kats, Yukata (when brother’s present), Three Tails, Formerly the Eyepatch Brothers.
Age: 20
Height: 5’9”
Weight: 160
Date of Birth: ???
Place of Birth: Tokyo
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Straight
Appearance:
Katoro seems built pretty well, though he's not the largest or most muscular there is a bit of meat on his bones, though to say he wasn't built strangely would be a lie. For instance though his arms are toned, they are skinny, and though his body should be rife with muscles given his strength, it is rather more on the lanky side of things. He's not exactly the tallest, though he's taller than quite a few . In his days working for the CCG he could be seen occasionally wearing a muzzle in addition to his bandaged eyepatch. Though the muzzle was an occasional oddity to be sure, in practice it was an actual safety precaution when he was partnered up with anyone but his older brother. He has semi-long white hair that seems to be perpetually a mess, and though it was brown at a time it has long since changed, though whether by dyeing it or some other means is currently unknown.
He has no tattoos nor piercings, having no interest in things really in his mostly dazed state at the CCG and having not been in his fully awake state much outside of fieldwork. Formerly he
He wears a plain pair of jeans, with a simple enough shirt most days. Though when he was with the CCG he wore a nice suit jacket over that very same plain white shirt, now given his circumstances his clothes have taken a more tattered appearance, and the jacket is lost.
No now, Katoro wears a simple black zippered hoodie he scavenged, with holes in the hood that let his now fully white hair flow through it ever so. If he had one quirk it would have to be that he often wears shirts that are inappropriate with no idea what they're referencing or saying and he has a thing with mismatching his socks.
On top of that, while Katoro used to wear an eyepatch with the CCG, his eye has healed since becoming a ghoul, all the same he can still be caught with his bad eye closed or squinting more often than open. He collects keychains and has a number dangling from his jean belt loops.
Though Katoro isn't homeless anymore, now living under the roof of Rin Satsumura, (a human girl) he's still without a wardrobe and as such is more often seen wearing clothes repeatedly, not changing from day to day, only doing so as Rin advises or as the opportunity presents itself.
If Kat sees a shirt in his size on a victim, chances are it's now his shirt, y'know if its not soaked in blood, after all that stuff never washes out...
W H O A M I ?
Personality: Originally Katoro was a bright eyed boy with aspirations to become a hero, a fan of Kamen shows and a firecracker throughout his neighborhood. But after his family was slaughtered and his mentality changed, Katoro became deranged. Calling himself a ghoul, and fighting with reckless abandon, he’d savagely tear through his enemies rather than let up after the fighting had reached its conclusion.
After his psychological treatment at the hands of the CCG he became dull and apathetic, following orders with no real emotion or feeling one way or the other. That all changed however whenever his trigger words were uttered by his handlers, by doing so they unleashed the instinct of a childhood filled with bloodshed, of the man that called himself a ghoul, the man that literally wanted to “eat” his enemies alive.
Often times Katoro would shut down after a battle, his eyes going dim, his mind going back to that dulled state on its own. But on occasion he’d remain fixed in his erratic, instinctual state, his mind solely focused on killing ghouls. When this happened only Yuu was said to be able to pull him from the field.
Now though with his memory lost Katoro has regressed even more, sounding childish in his voice and being naïve by his very nature. Yes, Katoro hardly seems like a dangerous ghoul by any means, often times asking what words mean, or trying to learn human culture. Sometimes he does become quite handy, or handsy…I mean he does rip through bad guys so..? I dunno, the point is his instincts kick in like crazy fast and it’s like totally super amplified by his body’s naturally honed reflexes, this makes him a pretty scary though I guess not as much as if he’d heard his old trigger word.
"Yup so that’s Katoro’s problem, So now, where’s that pesky word!? We’ve tried a lot so far and nothing yet, guess we’ll just have to keep trying okay? "

History:
Let me tell you a tragic tale of two brothers on separate sides of a war, and on separate ends of the food chain. Once upon a time, the Kawashima brothers lived a happy life, a typical uneventful life, the kind that most parents dream to provide for their children. So far away from danger and death, the two were inseparable and often played together at the park or amongst friends. Yes that was their life, and it was a good one at that. Until the day that a certain ghoul happened upon the Kawashima house. That ghoul, that binge eating killer, had no care for the Kawashima’s happy boring lives, and so he ended them piece by piece as he devoured the boy’s mother and father. He’d then descend upon the younger brother, Katoro, plucking his eye out of his head and eating it, taking no small amount of pleasure in the agony of the two boys.
The ghoul deciding to preserve this anguish decided to keep these two morsels alive, after all the prospect of killing them then and there seemed wasteful when he considered the possibility of relishing their torment over the years.
And so the boys lost their happy boring lives and at the same time gained paths of exciting bloodshed and woe.
The ghoul tortured both boys frequently, but above all else he loved fighting them against men, women, dogs, small bears, and even child ghouls once properly suppressed. Oh how the ghoul relished in their growth, how he loved the absolutely thrilling entertainment! But alas all things come to an end, and so too did the games, no a crescendo had to be reached, a magnum opus to his fun!
It would start when the older brother Yuu was dragged away from their makeshift cell of sorts. For days Katoro would starve, no attention, no brother to keep him company, until things started to change for the boy, you see it was about then his master began to pay attention to him and after assuring him Yuu was fine, he’d treat the boy to fantastic meals and over the next few days make his fights especially easy for him. Katoro was lonely, but he couldn't help but feel better with the extra care his ghoulish master was showing him.
Or at least he did until he found out the truth, when a delicious meal was brought to an end with the appearance of Yuu. Katoro was thrilled to see his brother, only he wasn’t exactly the same, no, as he clawed his way to the table it became clear he was now missing an arm, eye, leg, and a number of fingers. Horrified, Katoro looked at his plate and came to the inevitable conclusion that he’d been eating his brother over the last few weeks, relishing every bite, asking his master for seconds, and thanking him over and over again.
Unable to process the terror, the revulsion, confusion, and dread, Katoro’s mind snapped. He had to be a ghoul right!? That was the only reason he’d do it! Right!? Right!? Well of course! That had to be it! From that moment Katoro was broken, and Yuu unable to do much in his damaged state, was in spite of his best efforts, unable to console him.
Their master so very thrilled with himself, decided he’d had enough of the boys and abandoned them. Shortly after the CCG would follow leads of a ghoul in the area to find the boys, emaciated, mentally unhinged, and on deaths door.
The CCG brought the boys in and after treating them psychologically, sent them to academy, years later the two would make quite the formidable team. In fact the team was even given the designation, “Yukata” and though the name originally started as a joke around the office it would soon change to mean something far more grim.
In the US the phrase “Bringing in the Suits” is a term commonly used to denote bringing in heavy hitters, in Tokyo, suits are common throughout all ranks while Yukata's are more formal and reserved for special occasions, and so perhaps that was why Team “Yukata" 's name stuck so well. For without a doubt the two brothers were a pair of those hitters, in Japan.
Katoro being a young adolescent still in the midst of growing, stood out the most in the office, but his older brother equipped with lavish and somewhat perpetually mangled prosthetic limbs undoubtedly had his quirks as well. Of course nothing would trump Katoro’s mental state; you see the doctor’s did all they could do but in the end Katoro’s mind was deemed far beyond damaged. The only solution found was a mental partition, to literally wall off parts of his mind through hypnosis and electro shock therapies. This ultimately took the fight out of Katoro making him rather obedient, apathetic, and complacent unless his trigger word was spoken by his brother, in which case the crazed boy who believed he was a ghoul would emerge from the dull emotionless adolescent. This terrifying trigger word induced frenzy switch, made Katoro’s partner’s legends and made Yuu a force to be reckoned with. Of course Yuu would grow bored with merely hunting, and despite his sizable rank he’d hang up his briefcase for a lab coat deciding to go into the research side of things. Meanwhile his brother having nothing else in the world remained an investigator, being passed from partner to partner and eliminating ghoul after ghoul.
That was until his 20th birthday, when his big brother got him an unusual gift. See Yuu for all his quiet poise and dedication was really more twisted than his younger brother. What’s worse was his deep seated hatred for Katoro, something he’d never shown outwardly at any point prior.
His plan started slow, methodically, first by summoning his brother into the research division of the CCG late after hours. Then he’d drug him, lacing his coffee and dragging his brother to an operating room used by the CCG for the new Quinx operations.
There he’d kidnapped a surgeon, and after holding him at gunpoint convinced him to transplant the Kagune of an S class into his darling little brother. Yes,Yuu had decided to grant his brother’s wish, he’d finally be a ghoul just like he thought he was! Of course that meant when he was turned, he’d have free reign to hunt Katoro, to see which of them really deserved their master’s attention all those years ago.
Against all odds Katoro survived the surgery, afterwards the doctor was slaughtered in a way to make it look like a ghoul attack and Katoro would be dumped somewhere in the slums of Tokyo with a briefcase handcuffed to his arm.
Upon awaking Katoro would find himself to be unable to remember anything, not his name, not his job, nothing. A result of overdosing on the drug Yuu had laced him with prior to the surgery, unfortunately the juvenile formerly known as Katoro found himself alone, lost, with both the CCG and ghouls who know his face hunting him.
But he's not alone, see not long after, he met me! His big sister Rin. I took him in, I mean what kind of big sis would I be if I didn't, huh? Yeah I know, I'm pretty great right!? Way better than that mean old brother of his! Of course he can be a pain, but he's sweet, and kind, and well he's...well...he's my brother.

Goals/Aspirations:
Wishes to help people like the heroes on cartoons and TV. Of course this stands at odds with his need to feed, so he makes it a point only to feed on "bad" people.
Also wants to get his memories back and find his big brother, So that together with big sister they can be a family.
Fears:
Above everything Kat fears losing his brother, but with his memory more or less lost he’s not entirely sure who his big brother is anymore. That being said, he’s recently grown attached to a human girl, a girl he’s convinced is his older sister. This new development has made his greatest fear change to losing her, and he will do anything to keep her safe, absolutely anything.

Kagune: A Bikaku Kagune was implanted into Katoro it takes the form of a rather long, blood red tail, with black stripes adorning it’s 8 ft length. The tail is characterized as being rather frayed and thinner than most Bikaku’s, perhaps a result of the surgery, it is split into three ends giving him the nickname three tails despite only having one. The tail seems to perpetually sway back and forth, sometimes even spinning itself into a coil and launching Kats spinning wildly into or away from prey.
Former Quinque: As a former Second Class Investigator Katoro owned a Class A Quinque with a claw gauntlet type configuration. The Claws were long and sharp, and terribly deadly in his hands, When he was abandoned by Yuu, he was left with the Claw Gauntlet Quinque, the briefcase locked around his arm in handcuffs. This initially made him a major target for ghouls, but after Rin Satsumura found him he was able to free himself from the handcuffs. Though he hasn't done so yet, he'd feel right at home, and has no qualms with opening the Quinque and using against other ghouls or humans.
The problem however is getting over his hero complex enough to use it. After all what kind of hero uses a corpse as a weapon, huh?
Rating: Normally B-B+ Class, but if his trigger word were to be in play that rating is likely much higher.
CCG Codename: Bag-Head (when not Identified) and Runaway (as Katoro)
Faction: N/A
Fighting Style: Vicious, Kats fights on instinct and as such his moves are unpredictable. He’s pain threshold was unusually high for a human, so as a ghoul he’s more than willing to take a beating if it means getting him closer to a bite or a kill. In addition to this Kats's Bikaku Kagune is known to fray, and contort, wrapping up victims in a vice, or grabbing hold of limbs so he can get in close. The one thing that he seems to do different is spin, by coiling his Kagune and releasing the tension of the coil Kats often sends himself spinning or flying at enemy combatants or prey.
Strengths: Brawling, Kats can dish it out and take it better than most. All the same he tends not to fight until he’s forced to or unless he’s been triggered by his word.
Weaknesses: Kats tends to hold back too long before unleashing himself, he doesn’t like feeling out of control and as a result this reservation makes him weak seeing as his strengths resides in his instinct and body’s naturally honed reflexes.
Eating Habits: Modest Eating Habits, but if memory was restored most likely binge and/or cannibalistic.
Mask:
(Knows no formal mask maker and as such made this piece of work)
http://i.ytimg.com/vi/9_QyvJZ6ZfM/maxresdefault.jpg
Scent: Smells a little like a human, but there’s ghoul, and spilled ghoul blood there too.
