It's been a few years since Touma first met Index on a particular day. Since then, the worlds of magic and science has slowly merged. It has been quite common to see people openly studying magic in Academy City, just as it's common to see Espers scattered about.

Samantha duPont sighed softly, as she stretched lightly, looking around slowly as she smiled to herself. At the time, she was supposed to be at a simple Esper testing lab, to ensure that she was maintaining peak health conditions and the likes, and to test if her powers had advanced in any way. This, got her bored quickly, so she was standing, invisible, atop a power pole, looking around at the street below her, watching the people go about their daily lives. She mostly was on the lookout for anyone she knew or would like to know. Specifically, Accelerator or Misaka. Sighing softly, she continued people watching, enjoying the unique advantages, being unseen had.

It was a good day, or so Yuko Akiyama would will it to be.

Bobbing her head to the beat of the music playing in her headphones, her hands otherwise tucked into the pockets of her skirt, Yuko casually strolled along the sidewalk, doing little to draw attention to herself aside from her bobbing, which might have contrasted to the otherwise mundane or busy miens of the other students and people she passed by. Everyone was always so worried about something these days, and here she was, carrying herself like she didn't have a care in the world.

Perhaps to be fair, Academy City was by design a very busy place, all things considered; Yuko figured that maybe one of these days, she should sit down and count her blessings that she'd rarely found herself embroiled in such tribulations, not that it was exactly uncommon to take sight of some incident that Judgment had their hand in or some nasty rumors from the Dark Side of Academy City. But that was then, and this is now.

And here in the now, Yuko was content, just to have a nice walk on this nice day. With a confectionery coming in sight of her, the girl's lips widened into a smile, becoming eager at the opportunity to snack on something sweet while she could as she began hopping toward the shop.

Doors closing behind him, Isao leaves the hardware store with a paper bag in hand. Walking amongst the crowded streets, the young man reaches in and pulls out a handful of nuts, bolts and screws. Snacking on the metals as though they were trail mix rather than industrial products, he made for quite the odd sight to whomever may have seen him.

Iron has a tangy flavour to it, sort of but not quite similar to a sour candy, that Isao finds he enjoys. Nickel has a creaminess to it, though he finds copper bitter and to be frank, the less said about tin the better. He shudders.

Absentmindedly, he reminded himself to get his hands on some sand later on. The gritty texture is nice, even if the overly sweet flavour has never been a favorite of his, and he has been meaning to make some more flasks and beacons for his projects. Chewing a few seconds more, he finally swallows, letting the metal slide down his throat and into his stomach, soon to be melted down.

As the day went on, Samantha grew bored watching people, spying a few of the other high-level Espers, and a couple equivalent magic users, though this did nothing to appease her desire for entertainment. She chuckled softly, slowly jumping off the telephone pole, only to teleport down to the street, becoming visible at the last second, as she slid her hands into the pockets of her jacket, slowly looking around a bit as she did. She smiled softly, looking around once more as she moved about, heading across the street. She made no move to be noticed, and most people did, in fact, ignore her, only looking at her if she bumped into them, or they into her. She passed by close to Isao and Yuko, though she made no effort to either say hello or introduce herself to them, mostly trying to waste time, avoiding her checkup.

Isao blinked, turning to look over his shoulder at the girl who had just passed him by. He stared for a bit, before shrugging his shoulders and turning back to the pavement in front of him. His eyes suddenly caught sight of a confectionary just ahead, and just as quickly they became alight with sparks.

The blond hurried up the pace. While he preferred metals over actual candies and confections, the same couldn't be said for his many siblings. He figured that buying some for them would make them happy.

With a thoughtful expression and his chin in his hand, Hitori Akagami silently strolled the streets of Academy City. To those who knew him such a face wasn't much different from usual anyway, but given his relatively uncommon appearance, with red hair and eyes, dark skin, and a tattered white robe, others might have considered his appearance scary, or simply suspicious. Yet the problem he was thinking over was anything but.

His sister requested he buy some sugary confections. It wasn't as though she were incapable of doing it herself; she was in fine health and had money of her own. He just happened to need to go out shopping himself and decided he may as well help her out. Now the problem arose in which sugary treats he was supposed to buy. Being from the magic side, he had a habit of just leaving his cell phone somewhere when going out and often didn't have it with him. That wouldn't be a problem if he had just remembered to ask her what she wanted. If only he paid more attention to what she usually ate...

As he made his way towards a nearby confectionery, he noticed two people heading towards the same store. The various types of sweets that a confectionery offered were not usually of much interest to Hitori, but if he asked people who frequented the shop then they could help him choose something that wasn't so bad. His red eyes shifted between the two. One was a blond boy, the other a black-haired, cheerful looking girl. If he had to guess which would more likely be able to recommend him something, the choice, he felt, was obvious.

"Hey," he spoke with a somewhat low voice as he drew close to the girl. Sweets were more of a girl's thing in his mind, so asking her made more sense. She seemed to be wearing headphones, but it wasn't like those rendered one deaf. "I'm going to need to ask you something. Here," he continued speaking while his finger pointed towards the confectionery, "What's something good to buy?"

Bouncing on the heels of his feet, Isao made his way into the confectionary, the telltale sound of the bell announcing his entrance. As he walked in through the door, he was greeted by the sweet smell that can only come from having so much artificial flavour and sugar in so few square feet. The counter is a riot of vibrant shades. There are sugar covered fruit jellies, liquorice all-sorts, sour candies, fizzy cola bottles, chocolate pralines in purple wrappers and much more.

Moving with the ease of someone who's done this a million times before, Isao heaps one or two of everything into a brown paper bag identical to the one he's already holding.

Ambling out of the cafe she looks around, bored, she strolls carelessly down the street.Looking around she noticed some delinquents harassing a young boy "I'll let Justice take care of that" she says to herself. She wasn't looking for trouble and low level delinquents were the last thing she wanted to deal with.Passing by a confectionary shop she looks inside at two people buying sweets "Oh sweets" checking her wallet she was disappointed to find nothing "Damn i spent it all on the cake" Cursing under her breath she checks the time on her phone but drops it smashing the screen.Making no effort to hide her frustration she reverses time on her phone for 1 minute emanating a small glow.Putting it away she looks to see if anyone saw her and walks off at a fast pace.

"Mmm?"

Yuko blinked inquisitively as a curious looking fellow approached her at the confectionery. She didn't quite hear exactly what his greeting was, but she got the gist that he was hoping to get her attention from his gesture, prompting her to take off her headphones to listen to what he wanted. And as he posed his question to her, Yuko was admittedly... still a bit perplexed. It was a bit awkward, but the girl couldn't help but deride some amusement out of the fellow's wary, low mien, as though he were trying to keep a low profile, prompting a soft, amused breath and a smile on her lips.

"Something good to buy? Well... I suppose it would depend on your tastes, wouldn't it? Besides, hard to tell what there is if you haven't even looked, right?" She inquired in an upbeat manner, her voice free of condescension and more of a playful whimsy, before peering inside via the see-through doors, spotting one of the customers deftly snatching one of every item with a swift movement impressive enough for Yuko to take notice, pointing toward the customer in question with her thumb as she looked to the fellow before her. "Or just do like him! He's got the right idea."

With that, she marched right inside the confectionery, picking up a bag for herself with the assumption that the young man would follow her, before just as quickly picking up a small box of what appeared to be sour candies, shaking it slightly. "These are one of my personal favorites though if you must know! Care for one?"

With every single type of candy available in tow, Isao bounced over to the counter where a bemused clerk stood behind the register, having seen the entire process. The bag was weighed, and as is per usual when buying for his many siblings, cost the blond a rather pretty penny. Not that he cared one bit.

Whistling a happy little tune under his breath, he shovels another handful of nuts and bolts into his mouth. The image is made a lot more intense when he chews a little. Then he makes his way out of the confectionery, intent on delivering the sweets to his siblings before heading down to his workshop.

Samantha looked around once more, noticing people were going in and out of the confectionary a lot at the time, shrugging softly she slowly moved away. She smiled to herself softly humming to herself as she wandered about the city, still avoiding her checkup, not really feeling like going. She made no real moves to interact with other people, and in fact, mostly tried avoiding them, as she continued her wandering about. Stretching, she found herself wandering into a farmers market, that rested over a small canal that ran through Academy City, one of several canals, though it was a smaller one. She smiled to herself, tossing a coin at a vendor as she picked up an apple, biting into it as she wandered about the market now, taking in the smells.

"Yeah, but," Hitori stuttered out. He was too slow to respond to her before she waltzed into the confectionery. Rubbing his temple, he slowly trudged into the shop himself. His tastes didn't really matter since it was for his sister. Buying everything was not his ideal solution. The fault laid with him for not saying why he was buying sweets though so he'd just have to go with the flow. He turned his head from side to side, his red eyes scanning the available items. At the sight of all kinds of confections, Hitori thought the girl did have a point that going in to browse first beat asking for advice outside the store.

When she offered him what looked like sour candy, his eyes widened a little, though he quickly returned to a neutral expression. If he bought anything in this store, that was the thing least suited to him. Less than ideal if he ended up having to eat them himself later. Warning signs flashed in his head, but he did need her help. Rejecting what she'd claimed to be her favorite would be rude. Did these sort of things fit a girl's palate? If he thought about it, his sister didn't have the same reservations he did. After a bit of careful deliberation, he nodded. "Okay. Thank you for the suggestion," he said, doing his best to keep his voice level as he carefully bent over to pick up a box of his own.

Was this small box enough? He wasn't sure, but he wasn't against buying more for his sister so long as he didn't end up like that blond fellow and purchasing everything. Actually, he still had someone to ask so why not just ask? "Is this enough for a week?," he asked with a slight uncertainty in his voice while waving the box around, "that's about how long these sweets will need to last, I think." He didn't know how much his sister ate. They visited each other often and lived fairly close; yet even so, they didn't quite live together.

Tossing one such box of sour candies in her bag, followed by some bite-sized chocolates as well, she peered back with a curiously tilted head as her new compatriot began speaking again. Initially, she was a bit confused about his question before he went on to clarify what exactly he meant, prompting her to click her tongue lightly.

"Mmm, as long as you seal and store them properly after opening them, they should be able to last that long. Chocolate is the best for that kind of longevity though, but that's just my opinion ☆," Yuko spoke brightly, enough that she almost seemed to glisten even in the bright store. "What's wrong with the skitty look though? Is this all for someone else?" She inquired curiously, nonchalantly helping herself to a box of gummy candies while she was at it.

Once again cupping his chin in thought, Hitori nodded as Yuko answered his question. "I see," he nodded at first before suddenly realizing that the wrong question had been answered. His sister needed to be able to eat them for a week, not store them. While scratching the side of his head, as if in disappoint with himself, he was hit with the realization he'd never actually said why he was buying these confections.

Nodding, he said, "That's right. My sister likes to snack on these things. She said she ran out. I don't know what she likes though. I thought a regular's tastes would suit her." His hand reached out to grab a box of gummies before his eyes scanned around to look for chocolate. Copying her again, he picked up a similar package of chocolate.

"Ah, is that so? How nice! Well, that changes everything!" Yuko said in a delighted manner, as though the thought of the certain stranger buying all this for his sister brought joy to her mind for whatever reason, "Chocolate is definitely the key to a girl's heart, y'know! Good advice for a date, at least, just in case," she teased lightly, taking and shoving another box of chocolates into Hitori's bag, as though urging him to buy all that he could.

"In any case, is that enough for you or do you wanna look into some more? There's so many good options to choose from here!" Yuko exclaimed, seemingly done shopping for her own part at least.

Hitori wondered in temporary pause if the girl was implying he should open the door to his sister's heart, but decided that was certainly a misinterpretation and there was no way she would say something crazy like that. He rubbed the back of his neck before replying, "Right. Thanks. I'll keep that in mind." The thought of preventing the girl from just dumping another box into his bag crossed his mind, but in the end he withheld himself once again. He really was bad with these pushy but happy types. In response to her question, he gave a small shrug. "I'll look at other suggestions if you have any. Just, er, I can only afford another box or two," he spoke despite stammering for a moment.

"Sure, one more box then! Let's see... Chocolates, sour stuff, gummy candies, hmm. Actually, I wonder what would you be good with. Anything from the selection you want in particular? They got caramels, gum, taffy, cookies... How about those?" She inquired, sauntering toward the register as she spoke, gazing back at Hitori's direction as she did so, before briefly looking away to pay for what she'd brought into her bag, quickly finishing her transaction before long while exchanging a polite smile toward the cashier, and then hopping back to Hitori's position. "So what do you think?"

Miserable Alchemist Miserable Alchemist

"Not particularly," he shook his head, "but those will do." Who didn't like cookies? He didn't eat them often, but if Hitori were to pick a favorite desert it'd probably be cookies. It was uncommon for him to hear of people who didn't like cookies. Further, he was confident he'd witnessed his sister eat them as well. This was a sensible choice; at least, this was what he told himself as he nodded to himself. His hand reached out to grab the last thing he planned to buy and put it in his bag. When the girl came hopping back to him, he replied, "Decided on cookies. It was a good suggestion." He trudged towards the register so that he could pay as well before returning. "Thanks. Again. That saved me a real pain, uh," Hitori scratched his head as he tried to recall her name. However, he could not recall the impossible. He had never asked for her name. Instead of asking her, he cut off his sentence while falling into thought.

Samantha smiled softly as she slowly looked around the market, smiling to herself as she finished the apple. She smiled once again, before slowly looking around, when she noticed someone had been staring at her. This wasn't strange, as she was one of only a select few people who classified as above Level 5 in the city at the time, and so was rather popular. It was normal for people to stare at her, or even approach and ask for autographs, but something about this person put Samantha on edge. He seemed, off in some way. She couldn't put her hand on it, so she just assumed he was some other Esper, perhaps one that also had a reality affecting power, so she brushed it off, and continued wandering about the market.

"No problem! Glad I could help! ☆" Yuko exclaimed cheerfully as the two of them exited the confectionery, raising her free hand to make a sideways peace sign in front of her face like a playful gesture. From there, she quickly ascertained that the lad trailed off from his last sentence awkwardly like he was about to say her name, and that was when it also hit the young Esper that they hadn't exactly introduced themselves.

Deciding that she didn't see any harm in doing so, she brushed aside some stray hair behind her shoulder before going on again. "My name's Yuko Akiyama, just your average Level 4 Esper! And what about you, mister...?"

Isao was heading back from his home, a notably pleased grin spread across his lips. His family, of course, was ecstatic when they saw him—his siblings even more so when they saw the candy—as he rarely ever left his workshop nowadays. It was nice visiting them every now and then, and while he would love to swing by more often, his status as a Level 5 Esper left him with little free time. Nonetheless, Isao treasured every single second he could spend with them.

With the regular visit out of the way, the young inventor made his way towards his workshop. It was a small, insignificant building—to the point where your eyes would simply slide over it. What lied within, of course, were technological marvels that only the most eccentric of geniuses would come up with. And Isao could hardly be classified as normal, even amongst his fellow intellectuals.

Humming an unfamiliar tune under his breath, he bit down on an iron bolt.

Samantha slowly stretched, before lightly bumping into Isao as she left the market area. "Oh, sorry about that," she said softly, smiling up at him as she did, unaware of if he recognized her, or if she still had changed her looks to that of a brunette of a similar body shape. She did this whenever going out, as it had become troublesome to avoid people who knew of her, and wanted to meet one of the first level 6, now level 7, espers in the city, or the officials of Academy City. She smiled sweetly up at him, recognizing him as one of the people who ate metal, having seen him at one of the schools, getting a check up on his abilities as well, though she didn't know what his were, so she was a bit uneasy, not knowing if he could see through her transformation.

"Right, Yuko Akiyama," Hitori nodded as he repeated her name slowly. He decided to remember both that and the fact she was a level 4 Esper; her level probably wouldn't matter as far as he was concerned but if it came up it'd be rude to forget. Then he took his turn to introduce himself. "Hitori Akagami. An average confection buyer, or, something," he spoke in a completely serious tone, scratching the back of his head as he did. When it came to being "average" Hitori didn't qualify for much. His style of magic was strange, his appearance was strange, and even his purchasing of sweets was strangely below average. However, perhaps now he could at least be considered average at the latter of those thanks to today.

Yuko couldn't help but let out a soft giggle at Hitori's comparatively rigid, serious tone, not oblivious to the stark difference between their demeanors, but she found it a bit endearing admittedly. Certainly, it felt like he was trying, at least. "Ah? Well, it's nice to make your acquaintance, Hitori Akagami!" She exclaimed, using his full name just as he did hers to get a feel for it.

From there, she folded her arms behind her back and leaned forward, before speaking again. "In any case, I suppose if that's all, this is where we part ways then, no?"
