BC = Before Coronation, AC = After Coronation
5,000 BC – The land of Equestria is formed by the Pegasi, Unicorn and Earth Pony tribes. The tribes have trouble agreeing amongst themselves and war often.
4,400 BC – The Age of Chaos begins. Discord appears and turns the warring land of Equestria into a chaotic playground for himself. He warps reality to disallow any of his subjects (ponies) to age, so that they may enjoy his unique brand of “fun” forever.
3,800 BC – Celestia is created and kept hidden as a regular unicorn inside the Unicorn tribe.
3,600 BC – Luna is created and kept hidden as a regular Pegasus inside the Pegasus tribe.
3,300 BC – Luna and Celestia first meet on the battlefield. They innately trust one another and together help to mend the wounds that war has had on the different pony tribes.
3,200 BC – Luna and Celestia begin a secret campaign to overthrow Discord and stop The Age of Unrest. All three pony tribes are united for the first time in history under Celestia and Luna’s reign, though the pact is tenuous.
3,100 BC – Luna and Celestia discover the Tree of Harmony and their true calling. Upon discovering the Tree of Harmony, they are transformed into their true alicorn selves. They take the Elements of Harmony from the tree and use them to turn Discord to stone. The Age of Chaos ends. Warring soon breaks out between the pony tribes yet again. This marks the beginning of the Age of War. Luna and Celestia fade into the background. Defeating Discord breaks the reality warping of time which he had created. All ponies begin to age and die at a regular pace.
3,098 BC - The griffin nation of Griffonstone, hearing of the defeat of Discord, seeks to invade Equestria. With Discord removed by two new deities, the griffon king fears what might happen if the three pony races were to unite; as the ponies would form an alliance far stronger than any other in the world. He seeks to destroy Equestria before they can unite. His war actually ends up pushing the pony tribes closer together.
3,015 BC – Canterlot is built as peaceful grounds between the pony tribes. Although peace is held within the city walls, it does nothing to stop them from waging war on each other outside. The Grand Galloping Gala is held every year on the date that Canterlot was built as celebration. Clover, Pansy, Cookie and Platinum oversee construction of Canterlot.
2,800 BC - Starswirl the Bearded is born (with a beard, obviously). He quickly rises to prominence as the most skilled magic user. Celestia and Luna seek him out for training as their new alicorn magic is difficult to keep control of. They bless him with immortality.
1,000 BC – The Crystal Empire is founded.
500 BC - The demon lord Baphomet, after learning of Luna and Celestia and their divine status, attempts to slay them. He invades Equestria for the next 120 years in an attempt to slaughter the Goddesses and reign over the world himself.
380 BC - The demon lord Baphomet and the Legions of Hell are finally defeated by Equestria, and Baphomet is banished back to Hell after being slain by the combined efforts of Luna, Celestia, and Starswirl. The remaining demons are either slaughtered or return to Hell with him.
New Age – The Sisters are approached by Starswirl the Bearded, Clover the Clever, Private Pansy and Smart Cookie and asked to rule the pony tribes. They are coronated without a hitch and titled Princesses of Equestria. The Age of War ends. The Era of the Alicorns begins.
100 AC – The Castle of the Two Sisters is built.
200 AC – The Unicorns responsible for the raising of the Sun and Moon lose their magic, Starswirl the Bearded tries to takeover but fails and expends his magic in the process. Celestia and Luna are asked to take over the duties of raising the Sun and Moon. The Princesses do so and earn their cutie marks (fucking finally). They give Starswirl and the other unicorns the magic back that they had burnt out.
300 AC – The Changeling empire appears.
350 AC – Tirek and Scorpan appear from a distant land. Scorpan befriends Starswirl and alerts the princesses to Tirek's plans when he refused to abandon his plans. Tirek is banished to Tartarus while Scorpan returned to his homeland.
500 AC – The War of the Shifters begins.
580 AC – The War of the Shifters ends.
1,200 AC – King Sombra overthrows the current ruler of The Crystal Empire, Princess Amore, and enslaves the population. Luna and Celestia banish him, but he places a curse on The Crystal Empire which causes it to vanish.
1,500 AC - The First Griffon War begins.
1,530 AC - The First Griffon War culminates with Princess Luna's culture being completely massacred by the encroaching griffon horde. Seeing the destruction of her birthplace and seeing all of her loved ones dead pushes Luna mentally to the breaking point, and the first seeds of Nightmare Moon begin to take over. Luna responds by hitting Griffonstone with a meteor and wiping out the forces attacking Equestria, leaving griffons almost extinct in the process. A few griffon survivors make their way back to Griffonstone and begin anew.
1,530 AC - After the end of the First Griffon War, Princess Luna disappears to confront her inner demons. Nobody is sure what happened during this time period, but it's obvious that she lost the battle of wills.
1,531 AC - Pegasi begin to go missing. Equestria isn't quite sure what's going on.
1,535 AC - After a large amount of magical experimentation on pegasi by Nightmare Moon, bat ponies are finally created. They were created as an order of elite guards, operating only at night. Mutated wings allowed them to fly silently, sharp fangs and teeth allowed them to bite at enemies, and their eyes were mutated to allow night vision. All bat ponies eat meat, but a select few can even drink blood, leading to frightening myths among the Celestial Troops of the time.
1,535 AC - Nightmare Moon makes herself known to Equestria for the first time during the Summer Sun Celebration, in which she attacks Celestia. Having fully possessed Princess Luna, she uses her newfound power to wipe out thousands at the brink of the initial attack, flanked by her elite bat ponies. These bat ponies are enhanced with divine blood, and quickly mow down regular troops. The combined forces of Princess Celestia, Starswirl the Bearded, and all of Equestria's military manage to fend off Nightmare Moon and her bat ponies.
1,535-1,550 AC - The Eclipse War continues, as Nightmare Moon does her best to combat Equestria. However, despite all her strength and power, she is no military strategist. She relies less on tactics and more on raw strength and surprise to appear and decimate populations.
1,550 AC – The Eclipse War reaches its final stages. Nightmare Moon and Princess Celestia's battle ends up creating the Ghastly Gorge and finally spills into the Castle of the Two Sisters. The castle is destroyed in the ensuing magical explosions and the war finally ends with Luna’s banishment. The Era of the Alicorns ends. The Era of Peace begins. It’s at this point when Celestia and Luna lost their connection to the elements. The magic of the Elements prematurely ages Celestia into the alicorn equivalent of adulthood.
1,555 AC – Without the addition of Luna’s magic, the immortality spell on Starswirl ends and he dies.
2,480 AC – Ponyville is founded.
2,550 AC – Nightmare Moon returns, Princess Luna is cleansed and the Era of Peace ends. Season 1 takes place. The Era of Harmony begins.
2,551 AC – Season 2 takes place. After being hit with the elements, Discord lost much power ad can no longer alter time like he did before.
2,552 AC – Season 3 takes place. The Crystal Empire returns, King Sombra is defeated for good. Twilight Sparkle ascends into Alicornhood. She is not immortal.
2,553 AC – Season 4 takes place. The Elements of Harmony are returned to the Tree of Harmony and the Tree gives a locked chest in return. Tirek escapes from Tartaurus and begins wreaking havoc upon Equestria. The Princesses give Twilight their magic to prevent it from being stolen. Twilight and co. unlock the chest and acquire the Rainbow Power which is used to stop Tirek. The Castle of Friendship appears.
2,554 AC – Season 5 takes place. The cutie map is used for the first time and Starlight Glimmer is first encountered, then defeated. Princess Luna stops giving herself nightmares via the tantabus. Princess Flurry Heart is born to Princess Cadance and Shining Armor. Starlight Glimmer goes back in time to prevent the Sonic Rainboom and spawns at least six alternate timelines. She eventually gives up and is taken as Twilight's student.
2,555 AC – Season 6 takes place. The Crystal Heart is destroyed but is soon fixed once again. The Changeling Thorax defects to the ponies. The Princesses and Mane Six are kidnapped/replaced by Changelings. Starlight Glimmer, Discord, Trixie Lulamoon and Thorax go on a suicide mission to the Changeling hive to rescue them. They succeed and the Changelings who defected to Thorax become Changelings. Queen Chrysalis escapes and refuses to be reformed.
2,560 AC – Present day. The Second Griffin War starts.
2,560 AC - The Second Griffon War ends.
