World Building The World of Ithyra

CrazedFlamingo
Ithyra is only one out of many names of this world, for many cultures have named the world in different ways. Names for the world include: Inthyra, Chikyugo, Zhagöba, Diridze, Moshwal, and even the Sea of Souls.

Currently, I have six continents:
1) Hokalo
2) Isery
3) The Darklands
4) Dziwali
5) Vitanya
6) Ue'Zatl

Not all of them have actual confirmed names, so they may changed later on.

There are 15 races that inhabit this world as far as I've planned:

Human

The Chikyugogo

The Chikyugogo, or "Earth Children," are a Human race known for their short, petite builds and their ebony skin. These people are native to the predominantly jungle continent of Hokalo, a land filled with myth, superstition, and political strife. The race is currently divided over tradition and integration. Those whom conform into the societies of their Mughal dominators are known as the Anu, while those whom refuse to live within the Mughal way of life or in any developed societies of the Anu, are known as the Hyabusa, a large subpopulation of Hokalo whom mostly reside in the uncharted forestry of Hokalo, practicing ancient traditions and wielding magic.

The Kingo

The Kingo, or "Golden Children," are the northern neighbors of the Chikyugogo, believed to come from a land much more temperate and mountainous than that of the tropical region. Even fewer Kingo have assimilated as part of any civilized society, as most of them live amongst the Hyabusa. The Kingo have a very similar language to that of the rest of the Hyabusa, and are often scorned for their common practice of necromancy.

The Darklanders

The Darklanders are especially known for their vastly contrasting diversity, since they are amongst the only human races with such a feature. While some may have pale skin, others may have a pale pink or even an orange skin tone, while other may have a copper skin tone. Many suspect they are of two different races, and some even believe some historical event between the two may have caused the fusing of these two diversely colored peoples as one. It is also noted that Darklanders tend to be tall with a more built structure. Their first contact with other races was with the Mughal and Chikyugogo. Due to Hokalo's tropical, sunny, and hot climate, many assumed the Darklanders lived in colder areas where the sun was blocked by dark clouds, however, these rumors are only partially true. Most Darklanders live divided into tribes scattered throughout the Darklands, their homeland.

The Geneshi

The Geneshi is a race with a long history of trading, progressive and complex culture, imperialism, and diplomacy. They are native to the large jungle island of Shorvai, where their greatest empire had started. Currently, most Geneshi live within the continent of Hokalo through colonialism and the imperial expansion of the Duwabi Empire, in which is amongst the most powerful nations in history. While they have a strong foothold within Hokalo, they still have the Hyabusa and their Mughal rivals to compete with for the total domination of Hokalo.

The Vitanyan

The Vitanyans are a race that has mutated through both the exposure and the comforning with the Drakish Elves. It is also believed that this race is the result of the mass interbreeding between Suumer and Drakish that had bred the Suumer assimilators gone. The Vitanyans predominantly live on the continent of Ithyra with the Drakish, and are notably unique amongst the Humans. They are quite known for their stuffy accents and culturla affinity with magic, along with their lack of self-government.

The Ur Zuhai

The Ur Zuhai are a mysteriously unique race with no sort of connection to others. They are native to the isles of the same name, with a long history of conflict, warfare, and foreign contact. While the Ur Zuhai are often revered for their skill in trade, many realize that they don't typically manipulate magic, and have tamed dragons. With their own unique cultures and traditions, they distinguish themselves well from other races.

The Suumer

The Suumer are the first people of Man, native to the continent Vitanya, wherr they coexisted with the Hakkösi for most of their history. In the earliest days of the Khelossi occupation of Vitanya, the Drakea deemed them as a savage and idiotic race to to its tendency to learn not to touch fire only after getting a burn, or drowning themselves trying to catch fish. While they mostly progressed with the assistance of their Hakkösi neighbors, they still maintain their own cultural grounds, and often still practice warrior customs.

Elf
The Drakish

The Drakes, or Drakish are a race of Elf that is distinguishable from their light skin and their hair scaling between ginger and dark brown. The Drakes are native to the continent of Isery. They are mostly known for founding the Khelossi Order, a militant mage organization that acts as a military for several nations, as well as their own religious enclave. The Khelossi have spread throughout several continents excluding Vitanya.

The Hakkösi

The Hakkösi are the tall, hairy, and crimsom-skinned Elves of Vitanya, a continent located in the temperate zone of Ithyra. Neighbors to the Suumer, the Hakkösi were the source of many cultural reformations that allowed them to develop their people, and their assistance against the Khelossi Order was benificial to their rebellion against the Drakish militants. The Hakkösi are revered for a cursed prophecy their people have devised, believed to lead to Ithyra's doom, with several of its predictions already have coming true.

The Uele
Feven-Gebrehawaria.jpg

The Uele are amongst the most isolated of the Elven races. They call the isles of Dziwali their homeland, located in northwestern Ithyra. A mostly agricultural, warrior, and sea-faring culture, and an affinity for magical worship, many Uele are taught virtues such as courage, curiosity, stoicism, and the basic necessities of life at an early age.

Other
The Ilio

Probably the most mysterious sentient beings on Ithyra is the Ilio. Due to their isolation from other sentient beings in their underwater habitat, not much, if anything is known about these vastly diverse and horned octopus-like people. Whether they practice the use of magic, or understand the foundations of civilization is unknown, yet, it has been observed that these strange creatures share a common language.

The Mughal

The fierce, yet small monkey-people of Hokalo, the Mughal, are the current dominators of the continent. With a long history of civilization on the coast of Hokalo, the Mughal are extremely organized with a unique culture, and through warfare, have assimilated many members of other races into their societies. However, they do not reign unopposed, as the Duwabi Empire continues to snatch land and influence, as well as the support of several Hyabusa clans.

The Ue'Ezh

The Ue'Ezh are often debated over their racial status, whether they fit into Man or Elf. While the answer is unknown, it is widely popular amongst scholars and historians. The Ue'Ezh have very little onnection to most races, and act as their own subspecies. The Ue'Ezh live in the continent of Ue'Zatl, the jungle continent to the Far East, in tribal societies under matriarchal rulers, and often war for territories to build colonizations.

The Makahdi
lilmothiit_vuultir_concept_by_crmeyer-d5tbco2.jpg

The weak race of Makahdi, the fox people, have no diplomatic power in their native homeland of Vitanya, or anywhere in particular. They are a popular race in the goals of exploitation and discriminization due to their small size, yet, a largely unpopular slave race due to their lack of understanding of the rule of law. Most Makahdi have not conformed with Suumer or Hakkösi societies, and live their days under tribes controlled through theocratic cults of religious extremism, delusoon, and their much-desired racial supremacy.

The Yōga
tumblr_odlyx9NMcK1rv3tnjo1_1280.jpg

The estranged Yōga are the lizard people of Hokalo. They name their tribe Asaishiku, one tribe unified by race, culture, and religion. Much less theocratic than their Makahdi counterparts, the Yōga are an isolated people, and a Yōga whom has conformed with Mughal or Geneshi society is rare. Asaishiku remains relatively peaceful with the Hyabusa and shows support for the Duwabi Empire.

I am trying to further diversify the world of Ithyra, especially in the Elven races, along with the unique races. There will also be a long, detailed history that these many peoples will endure, and diverse complex cultures amongst all of them.

What do you all make of it so far?
I'm open to questions.
