Guild Application
The guild, The Bedtime Story, is taking applications for new members. The purpose of our guild is to unearth the truth about our world. A lot of the citizens in our world think that The World Castle story is just that, a story. Our goal is to prove them wrong, our world is ancient and has tons of mysteries waiting to be discovered and solved out there. It's rumored that our world is infinite and that new lands can be discovered no matter how far you travel. It's said that if you can somehow make your way inside the castle into the kings throne room, the king himself will grant you any wish you desire. We're looking for strong, loyal, adventurers who are willing to risk their life in order to find out the secrets of our world.

Name:
Age:
Gender:
Race:
Power/Ability: (Power and what it will grow into and their weakness if you want them to be OP)
Background and other information: (Optional information you may wish to include about yourself, like personality)

(If you want to add something you want to share about your character like their height and weight or a picture to help us get a better mental image (doesn't matter if it's animated or not) feel free to do so! Also if you want you can keep information a secret like gender or age if you want. I'm not picky, if you want something to be a secret to be discovered throughout our adventure then by all means be as secretive as you like! Another thing, as I said before, I don't care for your character to be overpowered. However, if you're going to make them OP please, please, please for the love of god don't make them invincible. That is never fun, I want them to have a weakness as strong as their power, if you decide to make them OP. I'd prefer our characters to start out rather weak, not super weak, but still weak and grow into their powers. So in your guild application, say what their power is and what it will grow into. If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask!)

The Guild Leader

idk man i suck at this.jpeg

Name: Shadu Harbrun

Age: 26

Gender: Male

Race: Half-Demon

Power/Ability: Fast, agile and smart. Shadu focuses his training on swordsmanship and dark arcane magic, more specifically illusion and shadow magic. However, he can only use magic with his demon arm. He also has a demon eye that he can only use during nighttime, that allows him to see in the dark. During the day he keeps it covered. His true demon form and magic potential have been sealed, so compared to other demons from his clan he isn't that strong.

Background and other information: Shadu is from the Harbrun clan of demons. In the discovered areas of the world, you'd have to travel towards the hellish dunes to find his hometown. His clan is obsessed with the tale of The World Castle and have been searching for ancient artifacts and labyrinths that might hold the truth to the world they live in since he was a baby. Shadu is a cold and mysterious person and has decided to continue the search his family started, after training and moving around from place to place for most of his life, he realized the world they live in is far too dangerous to explore alone and settled down in one of the nearby villages in apart of the lands he was exploring at the time. There he decided he would start a guild. A guild known as The Bedtime Story.

The Bodyguard

Name: Mug

Age: ???

Gender: ???

Race: Monster

Power/Ability: Fast, extremely fast. Can shoot dark orbs that drain life essence. Can extend tentacle-like things from his arm as he wills. Can only be injured during daytime. At nighttime this monster can go invisible and can't be hurt. Water and fire magic and enchantments are extremely effective against it regardless of time of day.

Background and other information: A demonic monster Shadu's family captured and tamed. It is kind of sentient and can understand basic commands. Since Shadu had his powers sealed his family ordered it to follow him around and protect him. Shadu calls this monster, Mug. It can't speak and can only manage to let out moans and grunts to let others know it understands their commands. Mugs favorite place is standing behind Shadu. Mug is very tall.

Name: Raven the Craven

Age: ??

Gender: Female

Race: Human(Raven formerly).

Power/Ability: Raven's power is that of music, her voice mixed with certain chants or songs can have many different affects. Of course Raven does not know every chant.
Chants that Raven knows
Chant of Strength: This chant gives nearby allies more strength or power. If an ally is tiring they will feel reenvigored during this song. The effects will last for about half an hour after the chant ends.

Chant of Health: This chant can heal wounds on anyone that Raven wishes. The chant can heal just about any wound so long as it is not fatal though bigger hurts take longer to fix. The healing that this chant gives is permanent afterwards.

Chant of Tranquility: This chant can cool down even the hottest of tempers and it can pacify just about any monster that hears it, though once the chant ends the creature it was used on will no longer be peaceful.

Chant of Pain: Any enemy that listens to this chant will be subject to major headaches and other types of pain. The pain this chant gives off is pretty random, it can be a stubbed toe, a stomach ache, it can feel like they've stepped on a nail etc, but it will always inflict pain while it is being listened to. The longer it's being listened to the more pain the victim will feel and the effect of the pain may linger after the chant ends but it will not worsen.
(More Chants may be learned as the story goes on).

Any chant takes time and concentration for Raven to pull off, she also needs her instrument to be able to pull off chants.

Background and other information: Raven was born as a raven, just a normal corvid which lived in a cold northern town. The town had quite the scene of bards and Raven enjoyed listening to these bards almost everyday. She wanted nothing more then to stand among the musicians and give the audience happiness by playing amazing music for them. One day Raven found a fox caught in a trap while she was flying around the wild places at the edge of town. The fox pleaded with the bird to free him and even told her a tale that he was some form of deity that could give her anything that she wanted. Raven didn't believe that, but she was a good enough hearted soul not to leave the fox to his fate at a fur trappers hand. She freed the fox from his trap and the fox asked what her greatest wish was. Raven told the fox she wanted to be a human and be able to play music for people, the fox said some kind of chant and boom, Raven found herself as a human with an instrument. She also found herself knowing four different songs by heart and she was overjoyed. Unfortunately the gift was not completely perfect as Raven was forced to speak in rhyme.

The curse of rhyme does not mean that everything she says has to rhyme but everytime she opens her mouth to speak she needs to rhyme at least once or she cannot speak. The rhymes do not come automatically and Raven needs to think of them herself, but she is still completely unable to speak without them, which can hinder her ability to explain things and has caused her nothing but annoyance. This of course lead her to be able to sing like she had always wanted which was a blessing but she couldn't really speak to anyone normally, she couldn't even tell people the name she was called until she thought up a rhyme for it. From the word people called her when she attempted to speak. Raven the Craven. Eventually Raven heard of a tale about someone who could grant any wish if they were found. Of course Raven is skeptical of this from her run in with the fox but she sees it as her only chance at speaking like a normal person and she found herself looking for this World Castle which led her to finding a guild who were also looking for the World’s Castle and were accepting new members

Name: Mounir Hawkins
Age: 25
Gender: Female
Race: Elf

Power/Ability: Teleportation/Portal Creation
Mounir has the ability to rip open the fabric of the world, allowing her to shroud herself in mysterious universe-mist along with opening a variety of portals.

She constantly channels a part of her energy into an alternate dimension of her own creation that she uses as a personal storage and wardrobe.

When she wraps herself, other people or objects in her magic, Mounir can teleport them instantly to any place she has been to before. This ability is limited by the fact that she can only make 2 people travel through space at a time and the further she transports them, the more energy is getting drained. Teleporting herself, others or items into her alternate dimension takes little to no effort, but shifting them through reality might block her abilities for quite a while. She can also immediately retrieve said items or people from her storage, materializing a weapon or a shield as required.

The biggest drawback of her pushing past her limits is that she loses her ability to see – her eyes will cloud over with her galaxy magic until her energy recovers. Before this happens, her body warns her by painting intricate swirling patterns from her fingertips all the way up to her temples as she strains herself.

Give Mounir time to meditate and a clearly set location and she will be able to open up a direct portal to it, allowing a large group of people to pass through as she passes out from exhaustion - don't forget to take her along please lmao

With time, practice and experience, Mounir's limits will shift, allowing her to create an unlimited storage dimension, teleporting herself without any difficulties and taking along more people at a time with each teleportation.

Personality:

+ Empathetic + Mounir can feel the mood in the room by entering and listens more intently than most, intuitively picking up on social cues. She cares a great deal about others and shows it with genuine smiles and questions that go beyond the surface.

+ Independent and Determined + Where a will is, there's a way and nothing can stop Mounir when her mind is set on figuring something out.

+ Honest and Trustworthy + Take it as a positive or a negative trait, but Mounir never lies.

- Reserved - Despite being quite appraochable and open, Mounir has a secretive aura about her that goes beyond her hiding herself in her magic. It'll take a great amount of trust to make her open up fully to anyone as she fears judgement or being seen as an outcast.

- Clueless - Due to her secluded upbringing, Mounir lacks greatly in the 'street-smarts' department. For example, she has never made the experience of entering a tavern before...

- Indecisive- In dire situations when immediate reactions are the key to survival, Mounir might end up rendered useless like a deer in the headlights.

Greatest Fears:
- tight spaces
- falling
- drowning

Background:

Mounir grew up as an only child of highly business-oriented elven leaders. With her parents mostly out of the picture, she was raised by the servants of the city's most prestigious landmark: The castle by the cliffs. All she knew was the raging seas crashing against the rough stones beneath, the oppulent maze of an overgrown garden surrounding the castle and the mesmerizing view of the city stretching out below. Constant, harsh criticism kept Mounir on her toes as she picked up various skills over time - be it fencing, archery, table etiquette, languages, geography or the like, the elven council surrounding her would always nitpick until they could point out the smallest of flaws in her practice.

This is why when no one was paying attention to her, she would flee into the world of imagination, whether that was scavenging the library in the heart of the castle until she knew every book line by line or actually coming up with worlds of her own to get lost in. The legend of The World Castle felt less like a fairy-tale to her than to most considering that she could emphasize greatly with the king. On the other hand, magic was something the elves stopped practicing and believing in many generations ago, justifying their lack of interest in it with countless excuses from 'fading energy fields' to 'receeding bloodlines' – whatever the hell that meant.

Mounir fairly recently discovered that her daydreams about an alternate dimension weren't as out of this world as she thought when the sky in her room opened up in a bright burst, revealing a door to her actual imagination and a ticket out of her golden cage. Since that day about five years have gone by. Five years of daily explorations of the town she hadn't set foot into before and a world she only knew from recordings scribbled onto parchment pages. Five years of picking up the necessary skills to survive the monsters and the people she ran into, from smooth-talking to pick-pocketing to taking lives. Five years until she heard whispers of 'The Bedtime Story' emerge that she was set on joining today.

Hoy Warrior.jpg
Name: Maz Medore

Age: 18

Gender: Female

Race: Human-Monster Hybrid

Power/Ability: Maz has the spirit of a monster trapped inside her. She draws her powers from this monster, the powers this monster possess is a mystery, for the most part. Maz doesn't have much combat experience, but from the training she has done she has learned to use a little of her power. The spirit of the monster seems to amplify the magic she casts. She mainly focuses on holy magic for healing and supporting others, amplifying others speed and casting shields on allies. When she has to defend herself she uses the abilities from the monsters spirit and can shape-shift different part of her body to match that of the monsters spirit (it looks like a misty dark aura surrounds the monsters limbs). Doing this can greatly increase her speed and strength. Some of the abilities the monsters spirit granted her is what she considers doom magic, that she can only cast when her hand(s) is shape-shifted into the monsters spirit form. Orbs of darkness that disintegrate anything they touch, the orbs move slow and vary in size and are easy to dodge. She can also use doom magic to cast traps on the ground that slow her enemies. The size of the trap is about 10 feet wide and long, so not very big. The spirit of the monster is dormant or sleeping. When Maz loses control of her emotions the monster wakes up, taking total control of Maz. This has only happened once and the abilities and wrath of the monster weren't documented because everyone present died.

Background and other information: Maz's dad was a human, her mom a humanoid monster capable of mating with other species. Both of her parents died when she was young. Maz's mother was originally going to give birth to twins when Maz's twin died inside her mother. Maz absorbed the spirit and essence of her sibling.

“I just wish I could eat and wear this thing at the same time”

1588672875207.png

Name:
Celine Harlow

Gender:
Female

Age:
23

Height:
5’10” (178cm)
Or
6’3” (188cm) (horns included)

Weight:
181lbs (82kg)

Powers and Abilities:
Celine has a thick film of an extremely hard, crystalline yet dull material covering her body and replacing all of her skin- bar that on her face and neck. This material (which she simply refers to as crystal) can withstand high temperatures and is very resistant to blunt damage. As a result Celine is very durable and feels a heavily reduced amount of pain when she is hit somewhere where the crystal skin is.

Her main ability involves being able to grow, shape and control crystal constructs, similar to the horns on her head, from her crystal skin. Example applications of this ability include shaping her limbs into various weapons like blades and hammers to attack with or creating hooked protrusions on her palms and soles to help her dig into and scale a rock-face. Celine also uses this ability as a healing factor- filling in cracks on her crystal skin that may have formed after taking some kind of damage. Celine can reabsorb most crystal constructs back into her body to reform her original shape at will.

In terms of talents unrelated to her supernatural abilities she has a few: lockpicking, sleight of hand and climbing things being the ones she'll be the most raedy to brag about.

Weaknesses:
Celine cannot reabsorb her horns and some other, smaller crystal spikes that have emerged along her arms, legs and back- the reason for this is unknown. While very durable she is not completely invulnerable, piercing damage being far more effective than blunt force. A sure-fire way of damaging her is to use sonic attacks, powerful enough sound waves cause the crystal skin to crack and leave her in such great pain that she struggles to move- in theory this could shatter her crystal skin which would result in a swift death. Celine is somewhat heavy and sluggish for her size as a result of the crystal skin weighing her down. Naturally, the more extensions and protusions she stays in control of at once the slower and less agile she’ll be. Celine has breathing problems and makes wheezing noises while trying to breathe. She needs to wear a mask most of the time to remedy the problem (though her breathing is loud and airy with it on)- a few hours without it will cause her to suffocate and die.

Personality:
Celine has a carefree attitude to life, able to keep her composure in all but the worst situations and often wanting to joke around and have fun rather than do anything serious. She is highly personable, slow to anger and likes to talk a lot, when she's the only one in the room she will speak her train of thought out-loud with less than zero shame. Though fond of cattily spreading gossip and rambling about anything at all, Celine is quick to adjust herself and her behaviours to her company, often quite good at reading people and knowing how to behave to get close to them. Though she does genuinely enjoy the company of many friends, she is not the most reliable or altruistic person in the world and is not above throwing people under the bus if she can benefit enough from it- friends and starngers alike.

Celine is greedy, infatuated with material objects to an obsessive degree. Jewelery, nice clothes- anything considered rare or expensive will be something she desires. She is also very vain about both her appearance and abilities, she takes great pride in her reputation in her line of work. Her hubris often leads her to be rash and unhesitant to jump into dangerous situations if it means she can add another shiny rock, pretty hairclip or even just bragging rights to her name. Luckily for her, she thinks quickly on her feet and usually gets out of tough situations without a scratch. Usually...

Backstory:
A petty thief for the better part of her life, Celine and her family were well known for their skill in the shady circles they ran in. Celine's parents only took high paying jobs so that they could buy as many essentials as they needed while committing as few crimes as possible. But, much to her parents' chagrin, Celine had always different. She stole in excess, from the rich and the poor and everyone in between. Watches, earings, necklaces- she wanted it all and was unable to give more justification than the fact that she just liked pretty things.

After a particularly well-paying job, her parents tried to divorce her from her borderline-kleptomania, worryied that their daughter had become far too insensitive to other people. They gave up their life of crime and started trying to live honestly as children's entertainers. It worked for a while and Celine stayed (mostly) clean. Until she started to live alone that is. With her parents having less of an impact in her day to day life, Celine started stealing again- her name became commonly spoken of in theives' circles and, out of both disappointment and fear for their own safety, Celine's parents stopped all communications with her.

From then on Celine let her ego grow wildly, far too eager to bite off more than she could chew. She got sloppier, having to commit murder a few times just to cover things up. It was all building to the moment she'd (drunkenly) build up the gall to rob a well-known elf in the area, notorious for her magical might as well as her riches. Unbeknownst to Celine, the elf had dealt with burgulars before and caught Celine dead in the act of trying to nab a large red stone atop a pedestal in her house. Celine tried to escape but was hit by a bolt of red thunder. She fell to the floor and immediately felt a burning sensation all around her body. She raised her hands to her face, her skin becoming heavy, hard and red before her very eyes. What felt like two large bones erupted painfully from her forehead and her throat felt like it was closing up. Then blackness.

She woke up outside the house, something heavy on her face, a strange airy sound in her ears matching the pace of her breathing. She looked at her hands. Still red. She felt her face. There was a mask on it. She took the heavy mask off and started wheezing. Breathing was harder than she’d remembered. Ignoring it, she started stumbling to her home, doing her best to ignore any onlookers who were almost certainly staring at what she’d become. She got home a few hours later and found that she couldn't breathe after a few hours and needed to put it back on. Clearly something was wrong and she sought out absolutely anyone who she thought could help her, doctors, alchemists, magicians. No-one knew what the curse was or how to remedy it.

Begrudgingly deciding to live with it, Celine tried to continue her craft of theivery, though the effects of the curse had made it almost impossible to be as effective as before. Her reputation became more and more sullied with each job she took, and she’d almost given up hope until she heart about new guild. “The Bedtime Story”, or something like that. Setting her last hopes on them, Celine hastily set off to find them.

Name: Zealgigas

Age:
- 1293 (while dormant)
- 44 (while active)

Gender: Male

Race: Golem

Height: 7'1" (216 cm)

Weight: Several tonnes

Personality:

Zealgigas is often unpleasant and bitter, but will always do the right thing regardless of what words come from his lips. He has an immense will and determination, as well as a prideful nature, believing himself powerful enough to strike down even the gods. He has a tendency to either challenge those who appear strong, or to relax around them, growing strangely comfortable. He is occasionally dismissive and rude to people who don't appear physically strong or who don't exert a certain level of confidence. But of course, he would never refuse to aid them in any manner no matter how small, regardless of any circumstances. He seems to dislike any form of idle actions, he never sleeps or rests; the closest he would ever come to relaxation would be something like an all-night training session.

Power/Ability:

The Divine Aegis

TLDR - A gauntlet that grants strength from the gods at their discretion, attacks utilize divine thunder and lightning, but can inflict damage on the user.

This legendary artifact was forged by the gods themselves for the purpose of waging war against other pantheons. Taking the shape of a golden gauntlet, it allows the wielder to deliver a punch on par with or even beyond that of a god, due to becoming imbued with devastating divine thunder, a pure energy channeled from a divine will. Due to the sheer amount of force behind the wielder's punches while using the Aegis, it's capable of launching opponents across great distances. It also grants the wielder a degree of control over the electrical power conjured by the Aegis, along with being able to call for enemies to be judged, and struck by divine lightning if the gods will it.

However, the Aegis is a weapon built for one of heavenly strength and fortitude, and cannot be worn by lesser beings, at the risk of having their body and mind torn apart by crackling electricity and terrifying willpower held within. Though in theory, if an individual were to possess the strength of body and force of will sufficient enough to challenge the gods, then they would technically become a candidate for wielding the Aegis. Several risks come along with wielding the Aegis, as it is unrelenting and unforgiving much like the gods themselves. The Aegis was used throughout history as a weapon in battles between gods, and has since increased in power as it takes in the will of each god that was struck down by it. Today, the Aegis is made up of the combined will of several pantheons of cruel and spiteful gods. If the wielder were to show even a hint of weakness or other behavior deemed unworthy, then the Aegis would not only reject their pleas for power, but smite the individual, calling down lightning from the heavens to punish them for their insolence.

It also must be remembered that while the Aegis can form a bond with it's wielder, making them difficult to be disarmed, if the connection between wielder and the Aegis is truly severed, then they will lose all power granted to them, perhaps even painfully so. Though it's true potential is unknown to most mortals, the Aegis is not a simple gauntlet, but a supernatural weapon that will adapt to whoever is the wielder. If the Aegis' will deems the wielder worthy enough, it may alter it's form to accommodate their strength, allowing a greater influx of power to be granted from the heavens. But this comes with it's risks as well, as the Aegis can grant the wielder increased power at any moment, regardless of whether or not their physical body can withstand it at the time, and it requires significant skill and willpower to hone and control the raw power of the Aegis, so reckless use will lead to a swift end for the wielder.

Containing the terrifying will of several different divine entities, the power of the Aegis should be feared and respected, for it will always have an innate connection to the gods which met their end at the hands of the Aegis' wielder, and the will of a god is nothing if not unpredictable. While these defeated gods are no longer physically part of the world, their power is very real, and ever present, especially to the wielder of the Aegis.

The Immortal Champion

TLDR - Zealgigas is an immortal golem magically created from earth, resistant to damage but very heavy with sluggish movements, vulnerable when his insides are wet.

Built from rock, earth and metal and granted human form through an ancient ritual, Zealgigas is the name given to a magical, immortal golem by the great hero of legend who stood up to the wrath of a god. This hero had immense power, more than any mortal man known to that world, but his body had begun to age and weaken, and the weapon he had taken from the gods and used to defeat them; the Divine Aegis, was only growing in strength, to the point where the combination of his own old age and the dangers of wielding the Aegis would put his life at risk, making him unable to protect his fellow mortals if the gods were to threaten their creations once more. And so, he began work on a golem who could carry out his will beyond death, capable of wielding the Aegis in his stead, and forced to follow a series of commands magically inscribed upon it's body.

This became Zealgigas, a man who would not age or deteriorate no matter how many years may pass by. Created from some of the strongest substances in the world, earth and rock mimicked the body of the great hero, functioning in a similar way, but lacking the soul which made him human, and that which gave him free will. The golem's body is superficially human, but the materials that make up his body are much hardier and imbued with powerful magic that allows it to constantly regenerate and repair itself, similar to a natural human body, but highly accelerated. While his body does not actually deteriorate over time, if left dormant for long periods, imperfections may build up throughout his system, causing him to weaken and move more sluggishly. Though as long as the golem remains active, it's system will eventually flush itself of imperfections and begin to settle. Another factor is a way his body's materials can be "purified", when the golem pushes it's strength and abilities to their limits, for example, by exposing itself to extreme heat and pressure, the materials of his body will strengthen and become more resilient to damage, but only if given enough time to begin the repairing process. Furthermore, the golem can still be gravely wounded by a sufficient enough source of damage, where the body is destroyed to the point where it cannot be purified, and must be slowly regenerated instead. While being more resistant to slicing and piercing than a soft-bodied creature, the golem is made from earth in it's core, and will soften and become more vulnerable to damage if it's insides are thoroughly enough exposed to liquid, though this would only likely occur after the golem had been deeply wounded. The golem's body is tough and difficult to penetrate, but it suffers from a massive increase to body weight in exchange, and struggles to make quick movements, especially when in the process of regenerating materials.

After the golem's initial creation, it was placed deep underground in a great temple, along with the Divine Aegis. Guarded and maintained by the followers of the golem's creator, Zealgigas was improved and refined over centuries, remaining dormant while it's guardians worked tirelessly over generations in order to forge a body truly capable of challenging the gods and successfully wielding the Divine Aegis. Over this period, the name Zealgigas became synonymous with a god, with religions appearing far and wide, revering the protector who would one day return to save the mortal population from a great and tyrannical evil in the form of another god. However, the world's devastation never did arrive in that form. Wars for divine artifacts and weapons left behind by fallen pantheons which granted godly powers sprung up across the lands, with mortals wiped out en mass at the hands of mortal kings and generals possessing stolen divine power. Eventually, men would come for the Divine Aegis, different parties all in search of the most legendary of divine weapons in order to claim it's power. But knowing the terrifying might of the Aegis, they chose not to unleash it into the world for fear of the artifact falling into the wrong hands. As the final ritual needed to awaken Zealgigas was not yet prepared, the guardians instead sealed him away in a Divine Vault, a magically locked crypt, only to be opened with the power of the Divine. Within it lay the dormant golem Zealgigas, along with a group of simple golems tasked with completing the final stages of the ritual, a process that would extend beyond the lifespan of the guardians.

Several years would pass before Zealgigas finally awoke, surrounded by the ashen remains of other golems. With only the Supreme Commands guiding him, Zealgigas followed them and donned the golden gauntlet that was laid out before him. Immediately struck by an immense pain, lightning lashed out against his face, leaving great gashes deep into his skull, but when he held his hand against the wound, he discovered not blood, but ash. He went to throw the Aegis from his arm, but found himself unable to. It wasn't that he couldn't pry the gauntlet off, but that he couldn't will himself to even attempt so. And so he remained within the vault, gritting his teeth as the power surging from the Aegis scarred his hand over and over, inflicting unbearable pain and cruelly dealing just enough damage so that his wounds would heal before his arm collapsed into ash. For what seemed like decades, Zealgigas slammed his fist against the vault doors, suffering the Aegis' punishment each minute of every day, while his frustration, determination and will inevitably grew stronger. For knowing that he simply had to escape, had to wield the Aegis' power, had to use it to challenge the gods, was all that he knew. That was until one day, when he was on his very last legs, surrounded by ash from his wounds, his hand barely holding itself together, for a split second, he wished for something; and the way opened. The Divine Vault blew wide open with a wave of thunder, the earth rumbling and quaking from the impact. But crawling out from his prison, Zealgigas discovered the world around him in utter ruin, with nothing but devastation as far as the eye could see. His fate was to do battle with the gods, to protect the weak from them, but it became clear that there was none who remained in need of protection.

Embittered and hopeless, he wandered the land, still clutching the Aegis and still spurned on by the commands despite the instincts he had as an animal to reject them altogether. Eventually making his way to new worlds beyond his shattered homeland he was tasked to protect, he fought petty bandits for poor townsfolk with a scowl across his face, he slayed deadly beasts for a pocket of gold pieces with gritted teeth, from not only the physical pain of wielding the Aegis, but the anguish he felt from following this predetermined path of suffering laid out for him, as if his creator was god himself, but there was no challenging him now.

His story continues after seeking out The Bedtime Story, in a futile hope that this rumored "wish" would be able to somehow grant him free will, and if not, then perhaps this king would suffice as a god for him to challenge.
