At the ripe age of 42 Stanley is not only the leader of The Vigil's armed forces but is also its head of state as well.

History: Formed from survivors of the 2nd Ranger Battalion stationed in Fort Lewis Washington they were originally 75 with their families joining them. Carrying thousands of pounds of equipment and ammunition to assure their safety wherever they settled down they moved south into Oregon using humvees, setting up on the slopes of Diamond Peak. It was here for nearly a decade that the people lived in relative harmony and managed an astonishing birth rate and were even able to locate other military survivors, assimilating them into the community. Sadly however this time of prosperity swiftly ended and bands of raiders began to move into the area and begin attacking, attempting to steal military grade equipment. Initial losses were considered high as the Rangers had grown far too relaxed. Luckily however their experience and training served them well in the coming years, performing guerrilla warfare on their larger enemies, decimating them in shockingly fast hit and run tactics a man in full military gear should not be capable of. But this was the warfare of a ranger, swift, precise, and monstrously deadly and so they defended their lands. For generations since the Rangers have slowly formed themselves into a warrior society where young boys are trained from a young age to become rangers and it has even gone so far that they are not considered men until they kill their first enemy. To most the Vigil and their Rangers are little more than boogeymen, considered to be an overestimated force of warriors that are simply hyped up or non-existent due to the fact Polis remains so well camouflaged on the slopes. But to those close by, they are very real and to many a highly sought after ally or a dreaded enemy.

Political Structure: Within The Vigil there are three casts that capable of enacting legislation of any kind, the first and most important being the Head of State, or Colonel to those within the faction. This individual is given near unlimited authority to enact laws, as well as conduct diplomatic or military operations. The second cast are the Council, of which there are three individuals, each the officer of one of the three Company's that make up the armed forces of The Vigil and with a majority vote they may overrule the Colonel. The third cast is the entirety of the military itself (minus the previous four individuals), known as the Keepers politically and are capable of vetoing any legislation or action performed by the government with a 2/3 majority vote.

Social Structure: The Vigil is a highly militaristic society, placing great value on combat prowess. It is for this reason that every male child is raised for the purpose of warfare, brutally teaching them the values and skills required to fighting the seemingly endless battles they and their fellow soldiers face from aggressors who wish to take what is theirs. Furthermore, boys are not seen as men until they kill their first enemy in combat, whether that be with a firearm or their bare hands. The females however are given immense freedoms compared to their male counterparts and are largely responsible for creating and maintaining all things within The Vigils border. However, many males also take up crafts and jobs outside of their military duties, picking up whatever slack their wives and daughters are not capable of handling alone when not on duty. It is the intense determination of all people within the borders that allows The Vigil to not only protect itself from much large communities, but even thrive through vastly superior skill and equipment on the battlefield.

Military Structure: With a total military force of 144 men The Vigil splits such a force into three Company's of 48 men lead by Officer's which are further split into 8 squads of 6 men, each lead by a Sergeant. It is with this system that The Vigil maintains its well oiled fighting machine with each soldier wearing military grade body armor, camo, M4 Carbine, Beretta M9 as well as sufficient survival supplies to make it through a lone trek back to HQ. It is because of these supplies that the Rangers of The Vigil maintain themselves as a highly elite fighting force of considerable strength. However, due to their relatively low numbers compared to many other factions the Rangers tend to stick with raiding tactics and guerrilla warfare to slowly cripple enemy forces before they can reach their homes.

Other: The town on which The Vigil bases itself around is known as Polis, of which there is a total population of 389 counting The Vigil's military forces. The town itself is located 7 miles North West of Crescent Lake in Washington on the slopes of Diamond Peak.

So just thinking, your weapons are pretty damn powerful for a post-apoc setting.

Perhaps you could enlighten us on how you came upon these weapons with down sort of backstory to make it believeable? I know your roots are derived from rangers in Oregon as I saw your post in OOC but I thought you could elaborate on that here so that newcomers could see your post and know exactly how you went from rangers to post-apoc badasses. Cool nation!
