Name: Sela Asper
Gender: Female
Pronouns: She/Her
Sexuality: Pansexual
Age: 16
Trainer Class: Psychic
Home Region: Johto
Starting Region: Hoenn
High Concept: A powerful psychic (but a bad trainer) who can sense oncoming danger, and is on a journey to prevent catastrophic disasters across the regions.
Personality:
Sela is...unique, to say the least. They carry the unmistakable presence of an outsider no matter where they travel to...but Sela is alright with that, and the lonely implications it can bring. In that regard, while some can consider them mature, they are patient and slow-to-anger to a fault; often times Sela fails to even stand up for herself against the superstitous accusations she frequently faces on her journeys. But Sela typically makes do. She finds happiness in what she has. And even if she can't? The girl moves on, anyways...because its not like the disasters will stop themselves, right?
Make no mistake. Though Sela may seem detached from regular society—a wandering outcast—she has an intense drive to save people from the disasters she can sense. To this end, she will do anything. Sela is a girl that can never sit around, knowing she can do something about these dangers...but whether this is her most admirable quality or her biggest flaw is up for debate.
History:
Sela does not remember the face of her father. Sela does not remember the voice of her mother. She does not remember the way he would rock her to sleep, nor the way her she would sing her lullabies.
Sela Asper, for as long as she can really remember, has lived with her grandpa up in the mountains.
She never considered this tragic, though. When her family house burnt down—when her family burnt down—she was only a small child. Even if she could remember, Sela is sure she would have blocked out the memory. And what was the point in remembering something horrible like that? Instead, Sela found that it was easiest to just...enjoy her new life for what it was.
And that life was of isolated tranquility. Her grandfather was a dedicated hermit, but one that cared deeply about seeing the Asper family line—all composed of powerful psychics—continue on in Sela, his last descendant. And so, as he took Sela under his wing...she found her days...well, dull, for a lack of a better word.
Meditation. Psychic Training. Tending to the garden. Cooking that night's dinner. Rinse, repeat. It would be wrong to say that Sela always enjoyed that lifestyle. To say her training wasn't repetitive, her isolated lifestyle boring, her world wasn't small...would be wrong. But no matter that...it was peaceful. There were a lack of worries in that life. A lack of any troubles at all, really. Even if her only two friends were a young Orie (a gift from her grandfather) and an overbearing Galahad (who refused to let her be alone, but never played with her either).
And sometimes...she would sneak out. Into the mountain's forests, where she could play with other Pokemon. And sometimes, she considering running away...running off the mountain, to the distance she always overlooked. But...then, who'd take care of her grandpa? Her grandpa, so serious, but so caring. So frail, so old. Only she could take care of him. And so Sela stayed...never venturing out except for the occasional trip to town, and the occasional sneaking off to the forest.
It was a nice life. A peaceful life. Cultivating her powers, cultivating the garden. Spending time with her grandfather, spending time with her Pokemon. It was nice while it lasted. It was nice...
Until her grandfather died.
...From there on, Sela tried to maintain that peaceful lifestyle. But...that routine...felt empty, now. Without meaning. Because now, there was a face to remember. A voice to recall. Memories, dozens of memories, that pained her every second she tried to imitate what once was. Yet, Sela was lost. She was so lost. The routine she relied on, the routine she whined about so frequently, no longer held meaning. There was no more guiding figures in her life to turn to as for what to do next. Sela...was lost.
But not lonely. No. Not lonely, with her Pokemon. With Orie, with Galahad. And it was in them that Sela would find her new purpose, awakening her Precognition.
There was no home for her to go back to. There was no family to return to. But...if she focused her powers to the world around her, there were people that did. People that were in danger! Intense danger, and not even knowing of it! And maybe it was envy of that which drove her to leave her mountain. Maybe it was jealousy, that they had what she had lost. Yet...that was no reason to make them go through what she had to. Sela wouldn't be too lonely, with her Pokemon. It...was a purpose. It was a purpose, one that was pure in intention, one that Sela could wholeheartedly but her heart and soul into. One that only Sela had the capacity to see through. And in that, she found comfort.
And so...Sela took off. With no end destination in mind. No plans for the future.
This has been the last 2 years of her life.
As of late...she has felt a massive danger approaching Hoenn. One unlike anything she has seen before. And so, Sela now journeys to Hoenn...not knowing what she'll be facing...but knowing that whatever it is her powers are leading her to, it will be something unlike anything else she has encountered yet.

Equipment: x3 Potions, x2 Revives, x1 Super Repel, x1 Escape Doll (Good for both falling asleep with and escaping with!)
Personal Items: Blue Unown Coat, Hoenn Map, 2 In-Use Pokeballs
Skills:
- Prodigious Psychic: However, opposed to what one would expect, her telekinesis is only slightly above-average, only able to move small objects in close proximity. However, if she were to exert all of her power, she could move an object even as large as a boulder—though this would tire her out greatly. If she trained more, however...that would be a different story.
- Trilingual: She can speak fluent Hoennian, Johtonese, and Kantonese. She didn't learn it anywhere in particular, instead just picking it up as she traveled across each language's respective region.
Powers:
- Danger Precognition: Though one would consider her "Psychic" abilities to be a power in its own, Psychic powers are not completely unheard of. Sela's prodigious talent manifests in her precognition, mirroring that of an Absol's. Sela can sense any kind of approaching danger, whether it be in her immediate proximity or miles away. While she can generally sense the magnitude of the danger and how fast it's coming, she has no idea of what it is specifically.
Usually, if her Orie senses it as well, then that narrows down the possibilities. But...if its just her? And it's closeby? That's when Galahad comes in.
Battle Theme:
Tropes:
- Psychic Powers - TV Tropes
- Spider-Sense - TV Tropes
- Reluctant Warrior - TV Tropes
Other:
- Sela's...a pretty bad trainer. Not in the sense that she's abusive or negligent...but rather, they lack any sense of tactics when it comes to combat. In fact, she's never actually properly caught a Pokemon.
- She has no phone. She has no idea how they're supposed to work. Please, help her.
- They have a surprising amount of stamina. After all, they're traveling wide and far on foot.

Moves: Quick Attack, Knock Off, Detect, Night Slash
History and Personality: Orie is her lifelong companion. Together, the two share an unbreakable bond. Though Orie shares Sela's desire to save people from the disasters they sense (with Orie being who she gleamed the ability from in the first place!), they refuse to do fight unless absolutely necessary. They carry Orie on their back most of the time, and enjoy traveling. Motherly and well-tempered.
View attachment 813440
Moves: Psycho Cut, Future Sight, Calm Mind, Fury Cutter
History and Personality: Her deceased father's old compaion, who was to him what Orie is to Sela. The last order given to him was to protect Sela...and Galahad follows this order to an absolute. While he is the only one amongst them capable and willing to fight, Galahad will frequently ignore orders to instead do what he himself thinks is best. Nevertheless, he is quite the dependable guardian for Orie and Sela. Independent and serious.

The Trainer
Name: Ivory Coquelicot
Nickname(s): Ivy, Ivee
Gender: Female
Pronouns: She/Her
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Age: 17
Trainer Class: Pokemon Trainer, Pokemon Photographer
Home Region: Kanto
Starting Region: Kanto
High Concept: A pokemon trainer/photographer who wants to travel the world taking pictures of pokemon.
Personality: A wallflower who doesn’t typically like to stand out in the crowd, it’s not so much that Ivory is shy, but she prefers to make others shine. She will almost never volunteer to take the spot light unless she has no choice. Ivory has a caring, nurturing personality that likes to see others grow and develop. She has a strong aesthetic sense and appreciates natural beauty. She enjoys nature hikes and peaceful environments away from the rowdy cities every once and a while, but she doesn’t hate urban life.
Ivory is also a truth seeker, very curious, and loves to learn (especially if it has to do with pokemon). She has an explorative nature and tends to be on the nosy side when it comes to something that catches her interest. While Ivory has a firm grasp on tactics and a calm mind necessary to make rational decisions she lacks the competitiveness or battle instincts necessary to be a Pokemon Champion. Ivory doesn’t care as much about winning, but she likes taking pictures of their fights—hence why she continues to collect badges and challenge gyms. She believes that it’s in battles where pokemon tend shine the best and through training that they develop into their full potential. Ivory also doesn’t like giving up. Despite the fact that she's not much a fan of hurting others, she isn't afraid to push back when shoved and can be quite stubborn.
History: Ivory grew up in Lavender Town where her father works as a caretaker of pokemon graves in the House of Memories while her mother at the Lavender Volunteer Pokemon House to help care for abandoned pokemon. Since a young age, she’s been surrounded by pokemon, having often helped her parents with their work—her mother especially, though she often goes to pray at the House of Memories before bringing her dad his lunch as well. The Coquelicot couple instilled in Ivory a love for pokemon, such that she wanted to learn more. She attended her local pokemon school until the age of 12 when her parents let her travel to Pallet Town, meet Professor Oak, and begin her very own Pokemon Journey.
Ivory’s first official pokemon was a bulbasaur she named Bulbeat, though Bulbeat was far from her first friend. Unbenownst to the young girl, a ghost pokemon she met once while praying at the House of Memories grew attached to her and secretly followed her on her journey. Haunter would sometimes help her whenever she found herself in a pinch. Other times it would find pleasure in pranking or tripping her up. It didn’t join officially join her team until her third gym in Viridian City.
It was also in Viridian City that she met the Pokemon Journalist, Valarie Verne, who would become her mentor. Having suffered a string of loses to the leader of the Viridian Gym, Ivory was questioning her worth as a pokemon trainer and whether she was cut out for gym battles when she met Valerie who cheered her up by showing Ivory her the collection of pokemon pictures she’d taken. Impressed by the beautiful images that seemed to capture both the joys and sorrows of pokemon, Ivory chose to stay in Viridian City and work as her assistant—living with the woman, learning from her, and reigniting the confidence she’d lost.
It was then that Ivory discovered her love for pokemon photography. More than winning battles, she enjoyed capturing the images of pokemon in their best moments. For four years, Ivory stayed in Viridian City, learning from Valerie about the art of pokemon journalism and photography…though she did return home every once in while to help her parents. She informed them of her switch in interest though she didn’t want to give up battling either. It was a matter of pride and Ivory wanted to finish what she already started. Besides, Ivory saw no reason she couldn’t do both. After learning everything she could from Valerie Verne, Ivy finally defeated the Viridian City Gym and continue on her pokemon journey. By this time, Bulbeat had evolved into an Ivysaur and she was joined by a Haunter who’d been following her and an old Ninetales she’d met when researching a haunted house for one of Valarie’s articles. Her goals had changed as well.
Ivory decided to travel on her own as freelance pokemon photographer, gaining experience and expanding her portfolio, while, at the same time, collecting badges and adding to her team along the way. She doesn’t neglect training her pokemon for battles, testing herself at pokemon gyms so she doesn’t get rusty, but Ivory became more focused on making memories and learning pokemon than winning fights. She also enjoys the jobs she does as a pokemon photographer more and often takes long breaks from gym battling to complete pokemon photography requests—for magazines, journals, research, etc—so the journey itself was slow-going. She had just earned her Cinnabar Island badge when a request from the pokemon journalist Valarie has her looking into the newly formed Team Rocket Neo.
Equipment: Pokeballs (8), Kanto Pokedex, photography equipment( high quality, water-resistant travel camera with strap, lots of film, various types of lenses, a tripod), Camping equipment (including a sleeping bag, lighter, rope, eating utensils, water bottle, and cooking pot), an updated PokeNav, a physical map (in case her PokeNav doesn’t work), tiny tracking/recording devices, Super Potions (3), Fishing rod (1), Binoculars, Box of PokeBlocks (3), Pokemon Grooming Kit (1).
Personal Items (anything that wouldn't be equipmemt): Phone, money, extra set of clothes, personal hygiene items, photo album, Kanto Badges (5), Notebook and pens.
Skills (things like "computers" or "acrobatics"): Observation, research, photography, writing, stealth (she has perfected the art of blending into the crowd, misdirection, disguises, and walking quietly). She can also hold her breath for a whole 5 minutes^^
Powers (if you have any): She tugged on the tail of her Ninetales (Kuzunoha) out of curiousity so she might have a 1000-year curse on her, but otherwise no otherworldly power to speak of.

Nickname (What is your Pokemon's Nickname): Bulbeat
Species (what kind of Pokemon is it?): Ivysaur
Ability: Overgrow
Moves (what moves does it know?): VineWhip, SolarBeam, Synthesis, SleepPowder
History and Personality (optional): Ivory’s first pokemon, Bulbeat is a determined, yet fairly easily going pokemon that enjoys battle, but also listen well to its trainer. Ivory never had any obedience problems with Bulbeat. Or any problems in general. When it’s not training, or eating, it enjoys lazing out in the sun where Ivory would often slap pictures of it. Since evolving, it’s grown a bit lazier and enjoys napping in areas with many flowers. However, while Bulbeat is mostly easy-going and obedient, when it does get stubborn, it’s hard-headed and pretty much immovable.
Nickname (What is your Pokemon's Nickname): Dupi
Species (what kind of Pokemon is it?): Ditto
Moves (what moves does it know?): Transform
History and Personality (optional): Friendly and fun-loving, Duppi is a showman and likes impressing others (especially kids) with its ability to transform. It enjoys mirroring others and can acted as Ivory’s doppleganger when they first met…stealing food from stores of Cerulean City. In order to clear her name, Ivory found it and battled it. After Dupi was defeated by Bulbeat, it joined her team as her second pokemon.
Nickname (What is your Pokemon's Nickname): Trouble.
Species (what kind of Pokemon is it?): Haunter
Moves (what moves does it know?): Hypnosis, ShadowBall, SuckerPunch, DestinyBond
History and Personality (optional): A pranky pokemon that enjoys laughs, Trouble has also been shown to be quite shy and a bit of a tsundere when it comes to the people it likes. It followed Ivory pulling pranks and haunting/bullying her, but also helping her in critical moments. It didn’t allow itself to be caught until Ivory was ready to challenge the Viridian Gym again. Ivy can’t seem to get a picture of Trouble who often vanish whenever she brandished her camera, suggesting that it is camera shy as well. It still has a pension for teasing her and creating mischief, hence the nickname ‘Trouble’.
Nickname (What is your Pokemon's Nickname): Kuzunoha
Species (what kind of Pokemon is it?): Ninetales.
Ability: Flash Fire.
Moves (what moves does it know?): Inferno, FireSpin, Pyschic, Will O’ Wisp
History and Personality (optional): Ivory’s most wise and knowledgeable pokemon, Kuzunoha is over 700 year old and has developed psychic powers as a result. Fully capable of understanding human speech, it met Ivory at a haunted house when she’d worked with Valarie on a story involving children that had gone missing. Ninetails was lonely and looking for friends to play with it, so it took control of the missing kids. After Ivory successfully caught it, it told Ivory that it’s favorite name—out of all the ones given to it—was Kuzunoha. Apparently, it had worked with many different trainers in the past before they eventually died. For the most part, it has a tranquil personality, but it is also prone to spite if irritated.
Nickname (What is your Pokemon's Nickname): Flafnir
Species (what kind of Pokemon is it?): Dratini
Ability: Shed skin
Moves (what moves does it know?): Twister, Safeguard, RainDance, ThunderWave
History and Personality (optional): A baby pokemon Ivory fished out the lake one day, it’s been growing quickly thanks to Ivory’s care and considers her to be a parental figure. It's currently 3.5 feet in length.

Name: Ignatius "Igni" Brando
Gender: Male
Pronouns: He/Him
Sexuality: Repressed Gay
Age: 19
Trainer Class: Lone Wolf
Home Region: Kanto
Starting Region: Kanto
High Concept: An everyday thug that could become the next Champion, but experiences frustration at the responsibilities holding him back—and proceeds to conviniently vent said frustrations on Team Rocket.
Personality: Igni's...complicated. He wears a thoroughly developed hardass exterior, as willing to fight using Pokemon as he is with his fists. To this end, he's built up his street cred as someone not to messed with—as long as you don't mess with him, he won't mess with you. Probably. Really, to most, he's just a thug with a knack for Pokemon battles...but in reality, Igni deep down cares too much about his Pokemon and his family. He feels responsible for them; and though he himself knows that his battling potential could bring him to far higher stages, to even national levels...! Protecting what he has left is far too important for that. Yet, it still brings him daily frustration knowing that he could be doing more...and thus, he caves into his thug-like routine to cope with it.
Still—as crude, impulsive, and brutish as Igni is...if he's your friend, you can always rely on him to stick by you through the thick and thin. Sadly, Igni has no actual friends.
History:
Igni's story is not anything special.
When he was young, his mother left his family. She didn't die, she didn't elope, she didn't mysteriously disappear. One day...she just decided that she didn't want to be a part of Igni's life, anymore.
And so, it was just his father, him, and his sister. Flint Brando, Ignatius Brando, and Melody Brando. They were a happy little family. Never the most well off, especially with the lingering economic aftermath of the Kanto-Johto war—in fact, once Igni came of age, he had to immediately start working in his free time to support their tiny little family. Yes, they were never particularly wealthy...but they made do. As time went on, Igni fell into a bad crowd. He knew his father never approved—but as long as Igni came home in one piece (and without handcuffs), he couldn't control Igni. The poorer side of town was always known for kids falling into this kind of behavior, anyways. And time went on. Igni grew up.
His story is nothing groundbreaking. Nothing noteworthy. Nothing special.
And yet...every day, Igni could feel the chance to make it that slipping away. Each day, his dream of becoming a Champion! The best trainer in all of Kanto! Something he knew he could do...! It...slipped away. His hopes, his dreams, his ambitions. It slipped through his fingers like sand with each day.
But Igni remained.
He couldn't just go up and off on an adventure. He had a family to take care of. Even if he was a thug, that responsibility weighed him down more than anything. And so...he stayed. But the frustration boiled up. Knowing that every day, every second, was another wasted chance at doing something he knew he could do. Igni knew he was better than the riff-raff in the streets. Igni knew that he was better than them. And yet, he was stuck here, all the same...
...And one day, when Igni was at his breaking point, wanting nothing more than to lash out, to vent his anger and his frustrations onto something...
Neo Team Rocket came knocking on his door.
Arceus have mercy on them.

Personal Items:
- Wallet (Containing a precious photograph of his family, and some stolen money)
- A pair of Brass Knuckles (Definitely illegal)
- Old Phone
Skills:
- Experienced Trainer. Igni has fought with Ember, Bruno, and Howler for a long, long time—even fighting side by side at times. Igni has an in-depth understanding of each of his Pokemon: knowing their strengths, their weaknesses, their limits. Not only this, but Igni is a natural talent for battling with Pokemon...whether that be commanding them in a fair battle, or in a no-rules, no-holds-barred fight.
- Experienced Fighter. Igni himself is highly physically capable, due to the fights and scuffles he commonly gets into. Igni can hold his own against others in an actual fight, even carrying around a pair of brass knuckles for whenever someone might jump him...but he can't bring himself to ever hit a kid or a girl. Unless that girl hit him first. Which, to him, is now totally fair game.
Other Details:
- Stands at 5'10.
- Athletic build.
- He keeps his items and his Pokeballs on a small brown bag, securely put on his left hip.

Other:
- He used to be a major fan of Red. He still is, and would like to think he could be the 2nd Red.
- Igni refuses to acknowledge that he thinks guys are cute. He will continue to not acknowledge this.
- Once joined Neo Team Rocket for the pay. Got kicked out when he viciously beat up another member Igni had caught abusing his Pokemon. Ever since then, he and Team Rocket have been on sour terms.

Moves: Eruption, Smokescreen, Inferno, Hyper Beam
History and Personality: Ember and Igni rose from the bottom top the top together. From a defiant little kid and his cyndaquil...to a thug and his typhlosion. Ember is every bit as as a thug as Igni is, if not even more hotheaded than Igni himself. Because of this, Igni is the only person who can rein in Ember's personality...especially when he rages, which has left Igni burnt on more than one occasion. It's said that his fire has never gone out, not even once. Rash and brutish.

Moves: Vital Throw, Low Kick, Strength, Helping Hand
History and Personality: Igni has relied on Bruno more than once to get him out of tight spots on the street. While Igni usually detests bringing Pokemon into more physical fights...Machoke proved to not only be a reliable partner, but that it relishes the thrill of a good no-holds-barred fistfight. Nevertheless, out of battle Bruno is actually a pretty gentle Pokemon, often helping out with the chores at home. Boisterous and jovial.

Moves: Beat Up, Odor Sleuth, Bite
History and Personality: Howler was found by Igni as a stray; unwanted by others for its dark reputation. In particular...he found Howler sick in the alleyway, in need of medical attention. Without Igni's help, Howler surely would've met a terrible fate—and for this, Howler is the most loyal out of all of his Pokemon. It's currently training to become his main partner, sparking a rivalry between it and Ember. Serious and loyal.

Moves: Sweet Kiss, Sing
History and Personality: Princess...is the last Pokemon you'd expect from Igni. Cleffas are not only exceptionally rare, but exceptionally wanted—yet, this thug has one (though he refuses to admit how many weeks it took to capture one). Igni is raising Princess to be the perfect Pokemon for his younger sister: something cute, but able of protecting her. Right now though...Princess is still very young, and Igni refuses to ever use her in battle. Ever. Innocent and naive.

For the most part Jay appears to be a rather chilled and laid back individual, seemingly content with maintaining the status quo rather then seeking to distrupt the balance. Neutral towards just about everything he rarely lets his emotion get the better of him and will often times shrug off 'news' that would normally elicit a much bigger reaction. His neutrality to most things enables him to often times retain an unbiased view towards what people classify as being 'good and evil' or 'Right and Wrong'. Rather then narrowing down actions to such vague categories, Jay tends to look at the bigger picture; avoiding the often times stereotypical impression one would form from those categories.
Rather mature, he understands that sometimes 'good people' do bad things and that it is often due to circumstances forcing their hand rather than the individual themself being 'corrupt'. Thus he doesn't readily decide that someone is bad and thus must be avoided because of a mere few actions. Good and Evil are merely two sides of the same coin; without one the other could not exist thus to write someone off just because they do bad things is something that Jay would rarely ever do.
Because of his chilled demeanour, Jay was often the target for ridicule during his school days; the typical school bullies initially seeing him as being weaker and thus a target ripe for the picking. Of course, Jay's relaxed composure was not just for show. Truly, he scarcely ever felt fazed by the bullies actions; rather he felt pity that they would act in such a manner for attention. Unlike many kids who would try to fight back or feed the bullies actions; Jay's reluctance to acknowledge their teasing would eventually lead them to finding someone else they could pick on; though it was only then that Jay would decide to step in.
It takes quite a lot to anger Jay and whilst he doesn't categorize people into being good and bad, even Jay would not tolerate it when someone else suffered because of his actions, or in this case lack of action. Jay hates the idea that his inaction would cause trouble for someone else. Not caring for how he would appear, Jay would willingly stoop to the lowest of lows, degrading himself to a state in which he would appear to be the actual bully. Evidently he had a natural knack at it as his venomous remarks would eventually get the bullies to stop their petty actions
The fire that lights his fuse is simple. Jay is a battler, a bona fide Pokémon battle is what truly gets him going; the fire in his eyes raging ever violently the longer the bout continues. The glimmer in his eyes as he is embroiled in combat with his trusted partner is often hard to miss. In the heat of combat, the problems that plague the world do not even exist; the differences between himself and the one he is fighting against do not matter. It is simply a moment in time where two fierce competitors test their wits against one another, where human and pokemon work hand in hand to defeat the opponent standing opposite them. It is during battle that Jay commonly loses his composure and well mannered persona, the venomous tongue that he hides away being revealed in full glory. Like a switch being flicked on, Jay is often far more colorful in the way he speaks, especially as the fight progresses.
It is due to his tempestuous battle spirit that Jay seeks to establish himself as a gym leader, if not a member of an elite four. The constant stream of competitors whose resolves have been hardened through experience and lives have been devoted to the ritual of pokemon battle are an idea that he simply can't push out of his mind.
The youngest son of two prominent pokemon researchers, Jay was largely expected to follow in the footsteps of both his parents as well as his older sister Violet. It was assumed by many that he would be the next in line to take up the title 'Professor'; pursuing a particular scientific field of interest in order to further understand the many mysteries surrounding Pokemon, just like his sister had done. Alas, that was not to be the case. Unlike his sister, who readily chased down a career in the Pokemon sciences, Jay showed no interest or inclination into doing as such; deciding early on that his interest lay elsewhere. This isn't to say that he had no real desire to find the missing answers to those mysteries that often dazzle Pokemon researchers. Jay's stance from the very beginning had always leaned towards experiencing things first hand and in person, rather than burying his head into books or research and theorising what those answers could be. It didn't help that from a very young age, the impressionable child that was Jay was hook immediately to the glamour of pokemon battles, the wide eyed youth enamoured with the various battles he had witnessed on the television, his hero being the infamous Lance of the Kanto Elite four.
His parents originally from Kanto and both Scientist in the field of 'Fossil Research' had once upon a time jumped on the opportunity to the region of Galar. Unlike the many other regions to choose from, Galar in particular held quite a 'specialized' field of fossil restoration. Pokemon such as Dracozolt and Arctovish are in essence, incomplete pokemon brought to life; their two halves originating from completely different fossils yet somehow being restored in todays era as a completely new species. Was the same possible for other fossil pokemon? Could a Kabutops and an Aerodactyl give rise to a new pokemon chimera? Of course outside of Galar's odd restoration methods, they were still concerned with the generic question that all fossil researchers contemplate; What other ancient pokemon roamed the earth all those years ago?.
For the most part, his mother had worked from their home; Jay only being a year old when they moved. With Violet's aide; Jay's mother was able to raise him as well as continue her research; documenting the discoveries that his father would make whenever they ventured to a new ruin or cave. To date however, no new fossil of undiscovered pokemon have been found.
Like the MeleMele school of Alola, Both Jay and Violet attended a school catered towards the cooperation between pokemon and trainer, an environment that allowed and nurtured a childs interest as well as their bahaviour around various pokemon of different types. Violet found success in the academic side of her studies, whereas Jay seemed to lean more towards the sporting side. Despite the pokemon belonging to the school, it was evident that Jay had a special understanding of them, knowing how to play to their strengths as well as the weaknesses of of the opponents. It was like he was a natural at finding a rythym that suited him and his partner. Jay's knack for pokemon battles did not go unnoticed.Even his teachers could see his potential as a trainer; the ingenious strategies that he implemented during the mock battles a clear sign of his potential. Despite this, many did question his habit of breaking out into dance.
Once coming of age and getting his first pokemon Scorbunny, Jay alongside his new partner spent many months travelling around Galar, gaining experience and new partners along the way as they perfected their own battle rythym, though despite becoming quite adept at battling bona fide pokemon trainers, the pair never did enter the Galar tournament. Jay instead had his sights set on the Kanto Elite Four , as well as the Pokeworld Tournament, an event that he could participate in whilst venturing through the region of Kanto. With Lance still at the top of the elite four and being the trainer that Jay most idolized, he saw no better way opportunity than to start his journey in the region that Lance ruled over.
Arriving in Kanto, Jay has set his sights on the Kanto Gym Challenge; a prerequisite to being allowed entry into the Elite Four Challenge.

Name: Whimsy Larson
Nickname(s): Whim
Gender: Female
Pronouns: She/Her
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Age: 18
Trainer Class: Musician/ Pokémon Trainer
Home Region: Kalos
Starting Region: Hoenn
High Concept: A trainer with a charming smile whose music touches the hearts and souls of those who hear it.
Personality: Despite posh her posh upbringing, Whimsy is a kind soul who seems to spread joy throughout her travels. Whenever someone sees her there is always a smile on the girl's face. Humming and singing to any song, primarily rock, that pops into her head, every now and then she bursts into a dance while singing. Underneath this outwardly cheerful demeanor though lies another side of Whimsy, a leader who is capable of thinking of plans on the dot. Given certain situations and circumstances of course. But her leadership qualities come from getting into sticky situations as a an early teen when she first started going outside her home city. Aside from all this the girl doesn't enjoy talking about her family matters or her upbringing much, leaving her background a complete mystery to those she grows close to.
History:
Hailing from a rather prestigious, obnoxiously rich, family in the Kalos region, specifically in Lumiose city, Whimsy disliked her life from an early beginning. Her father being a well known political figure within the region while her mother is a fashion designer known throughout every region. With parents like hers it didn't take very long before they started to push their daughter to act and appear a certain way in public, and private, in order fit in with Their high society way of life. They even sent her to a private school within the walls of the city. Her parents desperately wanting Whimsy to become something they wanted her to be. But one day, when she was around 10, she stumbled upon a music store in one of the many city alleyways. This particular day she found it they were offering free guitar lessons for anyone willing to learn, also a gimmick to get people to sign up for lessons. Being a curious child at the time she wandered in not knowing what to expect. It only took 10 minutes into the lesson for her to fall in love with the art, and for the instruct to notice raw talent in front of him. Not only that, but that Whimsy seemed to hold a gift that he had never seen within a person before.
For the next six years Whimsy kept going back to the music store for more and more lessons. Working extra chores in order to get enough allowance money to pay for her lessons. Whimsy lied to her parents day in and day out, telling her parents that she was staying after school hours to study. Although lessons were twice a week, she went everyday just to escape her home. It was also during these years that she met her partner Pokémon, abandoned as a young pup, in an alleyway. Over the years she would meet up with the Pokémon when she'd head to the shop to spend time with it.
Then one night she mustered the courage to tell her parents the she dreamed of becoming a musician, one that traveled the world spreading the joy that music had given her. Upon telling them the two became enraged. Demanding why she was wasting their money, her allowance, on such an unrealistic goal. No matter how much she tried to defend herself, her reasons, they would deny her in the most negative ways. Poor girl was left heart broken. It was in that moment Whimsy knew she didn't want to live this type of life anymore.
Whimsy came up with a plan that would be her ticket on fleeing the prison dubbed her home. She decided to become a trainer, and then on her eighteenth birthday to runaway and start a new life far away from Kalos where her parents might not be able to find her. After a lot of convincing her parents finally gave in to letting her become a Pokémon trainer, but only on the account that she only traveled around the cities closest to Lumiose. So for a year she traveled, and trained, in and around the city with the Pokémon she decided to partner with. During this duration she also practiced her art, learning that her singing seemed to have an effect on the ears of those who listened. It even brought Pokémon to her and soothed the souls of those who needed it the most. When her eighteenth birthday came around her parents held a large party for her, of course is was a musty posh one. An unpleasant birthday once again her parents put together. In the wee hours of the morning, after everyone had left and gone to sleep, Whimsy and her Pokémon prepared for their departure. Rummaging the house for whatever money she could comfortably carry on her person, mainly credit cards, and supplies they would need for their journey. Once everything was gathered, and a note left saying that she won't be back, they escaped into the night, but not without a detour of course. The shop owner begged Whimsy to meet him at his store before she left for good. It was there that he gave her the guitar she always practiced with, along with a case to carry it in and a miniature amp. Tear-eyed, Whimsy thanked them before catching a cab to the airport with a one-way ticket to Hoenn in her hand, the girl set off.
A runaway who was not going to return to her old way of life, and she couldn't be happier.

Just like her parents wanted. But she only knows enough to hold normal conversations. Any slang, idioms, phrases, or sayings she unfortunately was never taught as they weren't important enough according to her parents.

He had secretly watched from outside the home after following the girl home as Whimsy had told him of her plan. He's a mix between cocky and motherly, but the motherly side mainly comes out around Whimsy. Very rarely is he kind enough to strangers. Hating being stuck in his Poke Ball all the time he travels outside of it with his trainer under the disguise of man in their early 20's.

Alto is rather lax and doesn't stress out about anything, but along with the laxness he is known for having a short temper. If something makes him remotely angry he blows a fuse. Not much is known about how the egg ended up in Kalos, all that is known is that it was given to Whimsy as a gift for playing to the nearby daycare.

The Trainer
Name: Blair Marshall
Nickname(s): Phantom Thief Labir (former), Detective Blair
Gender: Male
Pronouns: He/His
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Age: 24
Trainer Class: Pokemon Detective
Home Region: Hoenn
Starting Region: Hoenn
High Concept (a brief one line description of your character's basic concept): A former phantom thief turned detective who is technically still on parole.
Personality: An easy-going and carefree guy, it’s hard to tell whether Blair’s surface reflects the inner self because he very easily lies—even to himself. He is someone who is so used to masking his feelings, he probably isn’t even sure what they are anymore. A social butterfly, Blair had little problems making ‘friends’ at school. Everything came off as easy to him. Studies. Sports. Blair grew bored of it all. Therefore, when offered an escape from the mundane-ness of his life, he took it, even if it led him down the wrong path.
In truth, Blair is probably a thrill seeker. He is whimsical, yet is also logic-minded enough to understand the rules of the world and weave through them to get the results he wants. He is ruthless and selfish, but also resourceful, clever, and charismatic. However, when he grows to like someone, he can be loyal as well. Blair enjoys challenges and his perfect match is someone who can keep him constantly entertained. He also has a flair for drama and likes putting on costumes.
History: Blair was born in Rustboro City to Mathias Marshall and Claire Coquelicot, archeologists who dedicated their life to researching ancient rock pokemon (fossils). Besides that, Blair lived a normal life all things considering. Went to school. Made friends. Studied. Learned about pokemon. All regular stuff you’d expect out of a kid raised in a normal family. However, if there was one thing that set him apart from others it was that he’d never really taken an interest in pokemon. They were an in-separable part of their world, sure, but he didn’t feel the need to fawn over them like many kids seemed to.
This feeling persisted from elementary to high school. Blair didn’t feel the urge to make his own pokemon ‘journey’. Didn’t particularly care about the creatures that could be caught and trained to battle. However, since everyone else around him loved pokemon, Blair knew he had to fit in to survive—so he took in a Trapinch from the Rustboro PokeShelter and raised it. These days, anything worth marketing/doing involved pokemon somehow. His ‘girlfriend’ wanted to be a pokemon doctor. His ‘best friend’ wanted to open his own pokemon gym. What about him? What did he want to do? Blair didn’t know. Everything just seemed so boring for him.
One day a transfer student came in. A weirdo named Ricky that seemed determined to join Team Magma…and made sure everyone knew that fact. As expected, the guy was shunned. Who in their right mind told the school that they wanted to become a criminal anyway? Blair ignored Ricky as he was bullied, thinking the transfer student deserved it for being stupid. However, even with all the bullying, the weak-looking guy never gave up his dream of becoming a criminal. Blair didn’t understand it. Therefore, one day, the curiosity got the better of Blair and he asked Ricky directly why he wanted to join Team Magma.
The answer was simple. So simple, it blew Blair’s mind: “It sounds like it would be exciting”
That was the day that Phantom Thief Labir was born. Along with his trusty sidekick, Trapinch—who dug all the escape holes—Labir (Blair) stole one precious item from Rustboro after another, leaving behind a calling card to let them know who’d done it. The game was no fun if no one went after him, after all. With every successful heist, Labir grew more confident and expanded his phantom thief team (with pokemon since they were more useful). Trapinch evolved into a Vibrava and then a Flygon—which became Labir’s main method of escape. Whether through the air or underground, few were faster than his partner in crime.
This went on for 4 years and the Phantom Thief Labir became a well known criminal in the Hoenn region underworld—his main pursuer and vigilant rival was the Officer Jenny from Rustboro City. Eventually, Labir was caught by and unmasked. Blair didn’t care that he was going to be sent to jail, but only asked that his pokemon received lighter sentences because they were too dumb to know what they were doing was wrong anyway. In returned, he would give back all the stolen items which he had kept hidden away. Surprised that the phantom thief seemed to care about his accomplices, and willing give back the stolen items without much trouble, Officer Jenny decided to not send him to prison on the condition that he do some community service and help them catch pokemon-using criminals like himself.
Blair agreed. Thus his unofficial partnership with the Officer Jenny of Rustboro City began.

A researcher of Regional Variants in the world of Pokemon.
Personality:
Laid back, relaxed and highly adaptable to the point where you might wonder if he is his own Regional Variant. Despite this calm-collected exterior, Vary is actually very keen and excited on learning more about the Regional Variants of Pokemon, and even what makes a Runerigus different from a Cofagrigus.
History:
Vary was always moving from region to region when he was a child, his parents changing jobs often. This was why he couldn't start his journey as a kid, and he never really did in his older years. During his ventures, he would always see how Pokemon in one region looked different from another. All this only made him want to explore the world even more.
One day, while in Alola, his curiousity lead him to venturing into the laboratory of Professor Oak - Samson Oak, that is. Oak noted his potential and decided to allow him to be under his wing for a while, slowly but surely becoming an assistant in his art - Regional Variants. When he had to move to Galar and believed that he had to leave this dream behind, Oak convinced him that this was a great opportunity, and that he could research Galarian forms for him while he was there.
Recently, however, he has been given the task of researching Kanto Pokemon and comparing them to their Regional Variant counterparts, which is where our story takes us...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~High Concept~
A budding Kahuna under the tutelage of Hala, Iosefa has ventured away from Alola to experience outside cultures and gain new experiences that may help him find the piece of the puzzle that is missing.
~Main Team~
Iosefa is a man with whom you would be able to place your complete trust with, someone who once a solid friendship has been established would be willing to lay his life down for you, provided he feels that you would do the same for him. Someone born and raised in the islands of Alola and who works with his heart on his chest, Iosefa seeks to re-establish an almost familial bond with those he befriends striving to replicate the peaceful and 'home-like' feeling that he experienced during his growth. Race, Color, Gender or species, Iosefa cares little for the trivial aspects of a person or pokemon and instead bases his relationships down towards those he spends time with and those who he feels he knows more indeptly.
For the most part, Iosefa is quite the gentle soul; someone who tends to float along with the Island breeze and end up wherever that winds take him. Whilst he has his own personal goals that he'd like to accomplish, he isn't one of those that rushes towards the finish line. Rather, he is more likely to stop and smell the roses along the way as he enjoys what life has to offer. He describes every step forward as simply him following his fate and every detour he takes as just another new journey to experience and relish.
As a budding future Kahuna under the tutelage of Hala, Iosefa's almost carefree and lax attitude takes a drastic flip amidst the heat of battle. Despite his gentle persona, he turns into quite the difficult obstacle for those that do battle him, having been drilled about the importance of the position of Island Kahuna, Iosefa's treats every battle as an Island challenge, one that puts him in the shoes of both the challenger and the Kahuna. As the budding Kahuna, he strives to make his battles a learning experience for those that he does battle yet simultaneously as one who has not yet achieved that rank, he seeks to learn from the experience of each and every fight and further grow and overcome his failings.
A negative habit of his is that, Iosefa tends to play the facade that everything is okay, putting on a happy and friendly appearance when in public yet in reality he could be feeling quite the opposite, in this regard he could best be described as a coin; having two completely different sides to himself. For the most part he likes to play the fool, make jokes, be the butt of jokes and even tease the girl he fancies. While he is the type who would keep your secret to the grave and have your back in a life or death situation, he is also the type who would sell you out for a quick joke and a few laughs. Gregarious by nature, a trait he most likely inherited from his parents, Iosefa relishes being in a high-spirited social gathering. While his contribution may sometimes be minuscule if not non-existent, he simply enjoys the warmth and company provided by those he cherishes.
A man who values and savours the taste of food, Iosefa can often times be found with some sort of edible treat in his hand. A good meal is just as rewarding as a good battle and both are just great avenues towards meeting new people. Who could possibly fight and hate one another over a delicious meal? Who could hate one that has shared and enjoyed the experience of combat? Be careful with Iosefa at a picnic or Barbeque as he shows no mercy towards those who wait.
Standing at 6ft 3 inches in height, Iosefa towers over most guys on the island of Melemele with both his height and girth above the average norm. Sporting a tanned yet chubby physique, you'd be hard pressed to believe that the large imposing figure was anywhere near 'fit', more so when you witness just how much of a glutton he can be. Though truth be told, appearances can be quite deceiving and Iosefa's general physique betrays a natural born athlete. Blessed with strength over speed, Iosefa is rather 'tank' like, having size and endurance that puts many to shame.
Dark brown medium length hair accompanied by Hazel brown eyes, Iosefa is your traditional island inhabitant of Alola, the sun blessed Isles inhabited by a unique group of flora and fauna have given him a naturally crisp tan that many inlanders would kill for. For the most part his skin is free of significant blemishes, sporting a few birthmarks here and there and a couple Minor scars from past experiences. The most notable mark on him however is a large tattoo that covers the majority of his back and shoulderblades.
Iosefa being quite rotund can often be found wearing baggy clothing, more often then not wearing cargo shorts with a loose fitting tee and unbuttoned polo t-shirt, the latter being mainly floral influenced thanks to his mentor Hala. He prefers to wear simple slippers over trainers and has a beach themed pendant around his neck.
Born on the island of MeleMele he is the nephew of Hala and therefore the cousin of Hau. One of the few disciples that the Island Kahuna has taken under his wing, Iosefa is a trainer whose potential was discovered from an early age and nurtured under the guidance of the kahuna. The grandson of Hala's sister, Iosefa spent a large portion of his youth watching the various challengers come and go, many failing to pass Hala's challenge or falling victim to the totem pokemon who slumbered deep within the caves on the island. Seeing his uncle do battle and gain the acknowledgment from the islanders all over Alola had left a severe impact on a young Iosefa, who couldn't help but admire him and in time want to be like him.
As a relative to Hala, Iosefa had to fight tooth and nail to claw his way towards becoming the Kahuna's disciple, having been given no special treatment from him and if anything was treated far harsher than the others who have had the same pleasure. From his early teens onwards, Iosefa would challenge the various trainers who came to take on the Island challenge, sparring them in a pokemon battle whenever he could as he saw this as a means to both gain experience and prove his strength towards the Kahuna. However despite the results of his efforts, Hala would consistently deny the boys request to teach him, the aging man seeing exactly what it was that Iosefa seemed to be missing. Whilst the boy's battle prowess and instinct was there, it was quite evident that Iosefa was still lacking what it meant to be a Kahuna and it was precisely because of this that Hala refused to take Iosefa under his wing. Finding what he lacked on his own was a journey that the kahuna believed was important for Iosefa, it wasn't something that could be taught to him.
Of course, a young Iosefa wasn't aware of this at the time and had still sought to prove his strength the old fashioned way. A foolhardy venture, yet one unsurprisingly taken by a younger, driven Iosefa. Entering into the deep caverns of MeleMele, Iosefa had stepped foot into the domain of the totem Gumshoos, the overconfident and impatient trainer seeking to prove his mettle by besting the king that slumbered deep within, a trip that not many could do so without coming out unharmed.
Alas it was not the Totem Gumshoos that Iosefa had found, rather it was the Totem Raticate that also dwelled on MeleMele island, the second king of the island and one whose rivalry with Gumshoos was well known across the islands inhabitants. Walking in during the middle of a turf war, It was quite clear that the raticate and rattata were invading the gumshoos and yungoos lair, the dark type pokemon overpowering the normal type cave dwellers whilst their Alpha was nowhere to be seen. Seeing the Yungoos and Gumshoos being easily overwhelmed, Iosefa and Manaia had taken their side in the conflict; the duo attacking the totem raticate as it raided the Gumshoos food nest. A battle quickly ensued between them and lasted just long enough for the Totem Gumshoos to return to the lair, arriving just as trainer and pokemon fell victim to Raticates 'Payback'.
Having gained the Gumshoos respect after helping defend their lair, the normal type pokemon and its followers had brought the fainted duo to the doorway of Hala, the Kahuna shocked at the sight of his Nephew passed out upon the back of the totem pokemon, yet relieved to see that he had passed out with a smile upon his face.
It was the day after that Hala had finally relented and taken Iosefa under his tutelage.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Years later, Iosefa has befriended more pokemon and added new partners to his team. A specialist with 'Normal' pokemon, the once hot headed young trainer has grown up to become quite a chilled and laid back individual. No longer focused on reaching his goal, the budding future Kahuna has opened his eyes to the world around him and now seeks to experience life to the fullest. Though experiencing life has made him a lot more chubbier than his youth.
That day in the cave had opened his eyes to the true meaning of fighting as equals with his pokemon as well as the value of fighting for something to protect. He had thrown away his selfish desire to prove himself against the totem Gumshoos and instead chose to protect its fellow brethren against the invading Raticate and its minions. It was during this fight to protect the peace that both he and Manaia had taken their first step towards becoming a worthy Kahuna.
Still no where near surpassing Hala as the MeleMele Kahuna, Iosefa has decided to venture to the other regions to gain experience and to adapt and change his approach to battling. Perhaps something beyond the beautiful blue sea's would give him the answer to surpassing Hala's strength.
Moveset:
- Dragon Breath
- Hyper Voice
- Icy Wind
- Hurricane
Personality:
Iosefa's most trusted partner and longest companion, Manaia is the one Iosefa turns to whenever the odds are not in his favor. A relax and chilled individual, Manaia's personality probably resembles Iosefa's the most in the sense of being one that tends to 'go with the flow'. Very little angers Manaia and he often lets the more mischievous antics of Enele slide without too much complaint. Mature, respectful and carrying an air of authority over the other pokemon, Manaia is the calm and collected leader of the group whose anger only ever arises when his companions are in trouble.
Nickname: Arihi
Species: 'The Strong Arm Pokemon'
Gender: Female
Type:
Ability: Fluffy
Moveset:
- Drain Punch
- Strength
- Payback
- Bulk Up
Personality:
Arihi is the diva of Iosefa's group. Like many of her species, Arihi is a rather clingy individual who enjoys the embrace of those she considers to be friends and family. Unaware of just how physically strong she is, Arihi will often times throw a tantrum whenever one of her 'overpowered' hugs are avoided, though the tantrum is more of a ploy to get those to lower their guard and feel sorry for her. While she does tend to hurt those she hugs, she isn't doing out of animosity or hate, rather she just really cherishes her trainer and fellow pokemon. She does however possess a slightly sadistic side to her personality, having learnt 'Drain Punch' as a way of weakening those that try to escape her embraces.
Moveset:
- Sketch
Personality:
The groups resident troublemaker, Enele possesses a mischievous nature unbefitting of one of those classical artist, rather he is more akin to one of those hoodlums that graffiti's all over the place. Proud in his definition of what art should be, Enele will use anything, everything and everyone as a canvas for his masterpieces, despite his art representing more Picasso over anything else. A nuisance to Hau'oli City, Enele had evaded capture for many months whilst simultaneously painting the city buildings in a plethora of colors, until finally being caught by Iosefa, who had finally had enough after his favourite restaurant was closed for 'repainting'.
Name: Tamah
Species: 'The Land Snake Pokemon'
Gender: Female
Type:
Ability: Serene Grace
Moveset:
- Headbutt
- Drill Run
- Astonish
- Iron Tail
Personality:
Tamah is the shy and reclusive one of the group. When not buried in the earth, she is often times hiding next to Manaia or Akamu, the two chilled ones in the party and the ones who cause her the least trouble. On the flip side she is often a prime target for Enele's practical jokes or one of Arihi's hugs and because of this has learnt to be quite the evasive individual when it comes to fighting. It also helps that her ability doubles her attacks additional effects such as 'Flinch'.
