The Treaty of Dratonia

Marie Rain

Two Thousand Club
In a world which is known by no name, there is a small island country called Dratonia which has been plagued by wars for centuries, if not longer. Why are there wars exactly? It's because of the Originals and the Clans both fighting over rights to the land they live on, which was never decided, causing the island to be cut into two unequal halves, where the Originals have more land. The "Originals" are the only humans left in the country who are equipped with many different weapons that they made themselves within their homes but have no physical gain over the Clans. The "Clans" are the half animal advanced race who are weak as far as weaponry but make up for it with their super human abilities and strength.

In order to end the loss of life and constant fighting without any actual progress, the two leaders met and decided together to form a treaty. The island was cut into exactly equal halves, the west of the island belongs to the Originals, the east is now all for the Clans. The main difference created from the treaty is the territory in the middle where they meet, which is now shared together between the two. The treaty had also decided that any unjust killing of anyone will result in imprisonment or possibly worse if caught. Though not many were accepting of this, they had no choice in the matter. People who disobeyed orders may be shipped off the island forever.

Since the treaty, four years have now passed and there are still small fights as well as racism on Dratonia. The accepting ones, on the other hand, have started creating friendships and even intimate relationships with each other. This is still quite frowned upon by many citizens. But, racism isn't the only problem people have faced since the treaty, there are now kidnappings, drugs, extreme crime, and even selling people to the other side. Life has definitely changed, but it may not all be for the better.

(Starting off, everyone is in the shared main city.)

Lilith was sitting on her roof looking over the city, she had her throwing knives on a belt around her waist. As she observed the town she noticed many atrocities. Be it a beating of a child, robbery, or worse. Sighing she jumped down and started wandering through the roads. It was still strange for her to be around the Clans without deadly intent on them and herself. Instead of just walking to her favorite special place she decided to jump on the back of a cart and hitch a ride.

Lumi Cenk

"Snow leopard."

"Look at her..."

"How rare!"

"Look at her ears! And a tail as well!"

"Wow, I thought they were all dead!"

"How unlucky, I've heard that Snow Leopards are omens of death."

"Do you think it's safe? Letting things like that wander around?"

"So many of them. Maybe we should leave town."

"Will this treaty really work? Somehow it seems impossible for animals to be peaceful."

"It's worked so far right? It's been a few years."

"I still don't trust them."

The slender figure of woman shifted slightly as the people around her talked, her ears twitching unhappily as she found to remain calm. Originals. The word made her blood curl but to actually be around them without being able to even inflict harm? She growled lowly and tugged up the hood of her cloak, the brown fabric covering her long white hair as she turned and started down the road. Lumi Cenk wasn't one to agree with this arrangement between the Clans and Originals. She hated the idea more then anything but that didn't stop their insistence on her involvement.

"You are the last Snow Leopard, the daughter of a leader at that." The strong voice of the Elders stated as they stood in the plain courtyard of the Clans City, "You have a duty to your heritage to make peace with this people and that is what you will do. Violence is a thing of the past. Take stride and bear the weight of the future on those thin shoulders of yours." Lumi's face turned into a scowl at the thought. Take stride? A duty? He was right though, she did have a duty. A duty to avenge her people and her family. She looked down at the plain clothing she had been forced to wear instead of the 'revealing' attire that she normally was dressed in. The tunic and trousers restricted her movement, making her feel trapped in layers of cloth.

"Hate this..." She mumbled tugging at the clothes unhappily, "It smells too." Almost as if in habit she took in a whiff of the surrounding smells and nearly gaged. The smell of Originals mingled with the filth of the city clogged her nose and made her eyes water. She just wanted to leave.

Riley tucked away a letter that was sent from her father into the back of her leather bound journal frowning a little. Jumping up from her spot in her apartment she thought about what her father has said. He had mentioned clan leaders son coming into the main city. Her father use to take her as a child to work and she use to see him always with his father serious as can be marching behind him like the born leader he was. She use to look up to the way he fit in well and him being two years older than she was at the age of 12 she would often try to catch his attention although mostly failing she wondered if he still remembered the goofy looking lopsided grin of a 12 year old rabbit girl not grown into her own skin. She was now grown into her skin at the age of 19 and didn't bother thinking about boys as she was fully possessed with training to join the military. They often didn't let women in but she was a good as most men and even without the war the military was still needed to handle disputes with outside countries.

Falco Peregrine

"What's wrong, bird man? Cat got your tongue?"

No, but I sure would like to cut off yours, Original scum.

"It would seem that there's been a misunderstanding." After what seemed like an eternity, Falco spoke. He slowly stood up from the table that he had quietly been sitting at. He had come to the local bar to have a drink so he could relax before heading out, but it seemed that today is just not his day. His voice was calm and smooth, with no hint of a threat. "I was simply here having a drink by myself, when you...
bumped into my cup." Which I should definitely strangle you for. "After which you proceed to mock me, but I'll overlook that if you agree to apolo-" Falco was interrupted mid-sentence as the larger, pot-bellied, smellier man cut in.

"I knocked it over on PURPOSE, stupid! Animals like you don't belong here!"

Don't worry, I would be more than happy to leave after I've replaced your trachea with your lower intestines.

"Please, there is no need for this. I have done nothing to you."

"How about you do nothing to THIS, feather boy!!!" Then, suddenly, the obviously-drunken man leaned over and grabbed a feather on one of Falco's wings. With a little pull, he plucked it right off and waved it in his face.

Falco simply stood there for a moment, speechless.
How DARE this insolent, lowly, incompetent, and downright disgusting being touch me?! And my feather, my precious feather, no less! YOU WILL PAY. Falco's facial expression finally changed from his usual calm facade to that of deadly anger, although the difference was minute; only those who knew him well would have noticed how his face seemed to turn to stone and his eyes darkening.

"You have three seconds to run."

"What are you gunna do about it? Squawk at me?" The man waved the feather around even more.

"Three."

"Oooohh, I'm so scared of a little birdie, oooohhh!" Drunkenly, the man began to make 'chicken' motions.

"Two."

"CHICKEN! BAWK BAWK BAWK BAWK!!!"

To falcons, calling them 'chickens' was about the same as calling a king a slave. It was the most insulting thing the drunken, pot-bellied man could have said. The man had been trying to get to him; well, he sure got to him all right.

In a split second, Falco grabbed the man by the throat and slammed him onto the table. As his head hit, remnants of Falco's whiskey splashed and soaked his hair with what little was left of it. He proceeded to punch the man in quick succession, his wings fluttering out at his sides as he did so. He didn't stop until the man's face was completely and utterly covered in bright, red blood that darkened by the second.

"One."

Falco was breathing heavily when he finally stopped punching the man, who had been beaten unconscious. He let go of him and simply watched as the man slipped to the floor.
If only my father hadn't helped make that stupid treaty, then I could have beaten the idiot to death. At this time, he knew that he was getting a lot of stares; if he didn't leave before the rest of the bar got out of it's shock, it was very possible that some other idiot human would have something to say. And so, after straightening his jacket and making sure to leave enough money on the table to pay for his drink and the damages, he silently left the bar.

Sasha Brevinskaya

Sasha stood at the counter of her bakery as she normally did, leaning on it as she watched the world outside. The doors were wide open, just the way she liked it. Since it was a relatively small shop, the windows and doors were actually pretty close to the counter. Unfortunately, the day was uncommonly slow so she was forced to hawk her goods from the inside, often calling out to those walking by. It seemed more and more lately that people hated the fact that she would sell to both Originals and Clans alike; to her, it was simply ridiculous not to oblige a paying customer unless they were unreasonably rude.

"Fresh cheese rolls, famously made by Brevinskaya! Come one, come all, come have a taste of some freshly baked muffins, croissants, bagels, pastries and more!"

Suddenly, something entirely out of the ordinary happened. A leopard girl, a clan that had been thought to be extinct, actually walked by! Of course, since she had her hood up, most people might have missed it. However, Sasha had spotted the girl's tail.

"You there, with the beautiful coat! Leopard girl! Please, would you come in to try a cheese roll? They're fresh and delicious!" She called out, excited to see something new. "I'll even give it to you for free, if you'll grace me with a moment of your time!"

Lilith made it to the top of the hill with the tree that overlooked the whole city. From here everything looked beautiful and peaceful. It created false hope in this treaty. Smiling softly she sat at the bottom of the tree before she noticed some Clans heading up the hill. She bit her lip nervously hoping they wouldn't bully her. They were wolf boys around eighteen years old. They surrounded her and the tree,"What's an Original girl doing here alone?", the oldest asked leaning over her. Lilith gripped her knife,"I-I don't want trouble Matt", she said glaring at him. She actually knew this one, he had always been a bully, even to his own kind. Matt stomped on her hand when he noticed the knives,"Then get out of the city and hide like most of you Originals", he said laughing. Lilith used her other hand to pull out a knife and sliced his fluffy tail making him yelp and kick her in the stomach. Once they finished kicking her repeatedly all together they took off like a bullet at the sound of adults yelling.

As soon as they left Lilith rolled onto her back looking up at the sky,"Pretty....", she said while covered in blood.

Throwing on a black tank top and some sweat pants Riley stretched quickly before going on her routine run around the city having her route memorized and perfectly planned for seven miles. She stepped outside blinking at the brightness for a few seconds before becoming more comfortable with the sun. She was always careful where she run she had been cornered more times than she liked for either being a woman, a clan member, or her appearance not that she would tell anybody because then her father would for sure find out and order her home which is worst than a few beatings.

She was about half way through and had barely worked up a sweat passing by her least favorite bar in the whole city she closed her eyes for a second to cool her nerves. This bar was a well known hangout for racist Originals who were always itching to get their hands on a clan member to beat up. Of course she had been their a few times to practice her fighting skill but mostly kept away because the people their said some really awful things about her kind and she mostly couldn't stand it.

She then ran straight into what felt like a brick wall falling knocking the breath out of her chest and stopping her in her tracks. She fell back onto her back and smacked her head into concrete looking up and seeing stars as her vision blurred and her head felt like it was splitting in two.

Just as Falco left the bar, 'The Sneaky Spittoon', he immediately felt someone slam into him. Being light-boned, he staggered, but that was practically nothing compared to the poor rabbit girl that bumped into him. She was laid out on the concrete, seemingly seeing stars.

"Oh my." Quickly leaning down, he went to help her by gently lifting her head off the ground. "I'm so sorry, are you all right?" He asked her, genuinely concerned. "Wait." He stopped for a moment, looking at her with curiousity. "You look familiar...."

Lumi Cenk

Pushing through a particularly noisy Originals, Lumi found herself passing a rather nice smelling shop. One the she knew was owned by a particularly friendly Original who refused to sell to just Originals. It was one of the few shops that didn't discriminate against the opposite kind. On top of that it was a bakery, a very good smelling one. Lumi hadn't had the chance to visit it before, not that she wanted to. She just found the smell rather tempting as she drifted past, her tail flicking slightly.

"You there, with the beautiful coat! Leopard girl! Please, would you come in to try a cheese roll? They're fresh and delicious!" a voice called out, drawing quite a lot of attention to Lumi, "I'll even give it to you for free, if you'll grace me with a moment of your time!" Faces began to look around and the crowd started to part, creating a circle around Lumi as if she was the plague. She sighed, wondering if she'd ever be able to go about her day without this type of reaction. Her gazed fixed on the girl, slight annoyance flickering across her face.

"You draw to much attention," Lumi stated going over to stand in the doorway, "Now you've gone and alerted everyone to my existence." She shook her head, tugging the hood down a bit more in dread. She shouldn't have been wandering around in the marketplace anyways. How many times had Falco told her that she drew attention by simply walking by? Not that it was her fault. She had been born the way she was. She made a face at the Original, an annoyed one.

"What do you want?" She demanded.

Her head cleared quickly and she blinked up as she felt someone cradle her head in their hands. Looking up at fist she thought she saw an angel but after a few seconds of staring she figured out that she was looking at a Peregrine Falcon original his feathers and features unmistakable to any clan member. He looked familiar and she nodded pushing herself up and standing slowly.

"Sorry, I'm okay," she dusted herself off quickly rubbing the back of her head for a second then she turned her attention to the male in front of her. Staring for a few second with her mouth slightly open she closed it quickly turning it into a smirk and leaning back crossing her arms.

"I would say we saw each other everyday for about three years. You were always a little slow hmm." She teased recognizing her childhood crush and smiling to herself. Her father had mentioned him but she hadn't expected to see him right away.

[sasha]

"Now don't you worry." Sasha quickly assured her, "No one would dare touch a customer of mine while they've set foot in my shop- everyone knows I won't service anyone that dares cause trouble on this premises." Not to mention, the few Originals and Clan members that she had happened to befriend by chance would have no problem if she asked for a...favor. "So, please, come in, come in!" She waved the obviously-annoyed leopard inside.

"What do you want?"

"Why, of course I want a word with you, and to give you....this!" After grabbing something and putting on a clean plate, Sasha leapt from her spot at the counter and went up to the girl. She revealed herself to be a lot shorter than the counter led her to look; the tall stool she had sat at had made her look a lot taller than she really was. The obviously shorter girl practically darted to the door, turned the 'open' sign to say 'at lunch-be back later', and closed it. She did make sure, however, not to lock it so as not to startle the leopard girl.

When she was done, she went to the single table in the shop and set the plate down. On the plate was about ten of the cheese rolls, all of them still warm from the oven. "Come sit! May I get you some tea, or milk, or water?" She smiled at the girl. "I own this shop, so don't worry about any costs or anything like that. I haven't had lunch anyway, so this is actually really great! To me. I mean..." She began to blabber, her excitedness beginning to get the best of her.

"I've never met a leopard before! I would be honored if you would share a quick lunch with me, courtesy of Brevinskaya's. I'm so sorry if I'm coming on a little strong, but I saw you and I simply CANNOT help myself."

[Falco]

After a long moment of confused thinking, it finally clicked to him who she was. After she told him she was okay and got up, he followed suit. He tried his best to hide his bloody fist behind his back; he wasn't sure how she would take seeing it since it was actually unnatural for him to be getting into fights. Falco smiled back at the rabbit girl, laughing just a little bit. "Now it's just silly to call a Peregrine slow, and you know it Riley." He taunted.

After a long pause, Falco softly spoke. "Anyway, it is a bit of a surprise to see you here, of all people. It seems like it's been forever....how long has it been, four years? Five years?"

Riley smirked at him surprised he hadn't mentioned how much she had changed since they had seen each other last. She nodded at him smiling still. He had grown a lot since she had seen him he wasn't the awkward sixteen year old anymore he had grown into his height and now towered over her in an amusing way. He hadn't changed much otherwise he seemed the same except now a little more serious than he use to be. She glanced at the bar and pulled his arm until they were a little farther away from the bar looking over she didn't notice any of the regulars following them and all the originals around milled about with almost zero interest in their conversation.

"Yeah four it was just before the peace treaty I remember you arguing with me about whether it was good or bad for our people." She nodded then her face turned serious for a second looking at him skeptically. "You know I always was a perceptive kind of person and don't think I didn't noticed blood on you fist." She said laying out her hand in front of them and motioning for him to let her see it.

Falco let her lead him away from the bar, silently thinking of how different she looked. He hadn't mentioned it earlier, but Riley was definitely much different than she was four years ago- she was no longer a 'girl', but a 'woman'.

The thought of seeing Riley that way actually made him blush a little, which may have been misinterpreted as she motioned for him to show her his hand.

"I'm not harmed." He assured her, "I merely had a run-in with scum that decided it would be a good idea to ruin my afternoon drink, which, by the way, only further helps to say that humans simply cannot be trusted." He frowned for a moment, but continued on. "Anyway, I just need to wash my hand off before I catch whatever disgusting disease those things carry." He spat, his distaste for humans showing as usual.

"Riley...do you...live here, in this city?"

Frowning at his obvious hatred for originals that had surely been wired in his brain since he was only a child from his father. She wished he wasn't so harsh on them and even though she agreed they were much crueler than her kind sometimes not all of them were that bad. She looked up at him sadly thinking back to the days before the treaty when they were younger and didn't care about any wars or treaties.

She looked away from him for a second saddened and It showed across her face as her fun loving manor changed within second she dropped her hand down shoving them in her pockets and stepping back a little. She was very worried about him he had lost all his optimistic sense and had completely given up on the idea of peace that she liked to believe in.

"Yeah I live here. My father thinks it safe and a good idea to get experience with originals he doesn't know anything about them really though." She says quietly looking back at him "they say I am a freak because I am not pure human that my blood is tainted." she said looking at the people walking around thinking back to when she first moved here. "its getting rather late its no good for clan members to be out after dark." she said motioning to alleys and shops shutting their doors and how only a few clan members walked quickly about rushing to take shelter presumably.

Her eyes studied the girl, human eyes meeting cat, as she shifted out of the doorway. Following the girl to a table she took a seat, allowing the girl to ramble as Lumi looked around. It seemed that the girl enjoyed to talk, something that Lumi wasn't to keen on. However, she would allow it this time. Something about the smell of the baked goods made her stomach grumble in want.

"I have time," She stated sweeping off her hood, "Anything you have it fine. I'm not picky with what I drink." Was that a lie? Well, no not particularly. Lumi had never been picking about things. She had no reason to be growing up. Brushing back a bit of her hair she looked over the girl. Why was she so interested in Clans? Lumi couldn't understand but in most way she was thankful. It was better inside the bakery, the smells were much less horrible compared to the hot market street that had no interest in welcoming someone such as her.

"Sometimes, strong is good." Lumi stated bluntly, "Why are you so interested in me?"

(Hm...well, it could be that Falco's father hated them in the past, and that's what she's referencing. I mean, he DID help wage war against them as a top general, you know?)

(Doesn't seem like an argument to me~)

Lilith eventually stood up and started wandering through the town. She was still soaked in blood from the earlier incident. Many people were staring and whispering, assuming it was the Clans. Of course they weren't wrong but it seemed bad to just assume so. Soon enough she noticed something happening in town square where people were all gathered. As she climbed a pole to see what was going on, she soon found out. Another teenage Clan and Original went missing. Everyone knew that they were selling them off into the other sides to be used for various things. Lilith sighed and jumped down walking more cautiously. Many children were being taken lately. Weather it be for slavery, experimentation, or even more "personal" slaves. It was a dangerous world for everyone. As she passed the board she noticed that the faces had more than doubled in two days. That board was filled with pictures of missing children. She shuddered at the thought and quickly moved along.

(hey, its ok @Sadlyimnotbatman . We work stuff out by talking about it, ya? I don't think anyone had any spiteful intentions, we're all friends here!)

[Falco]

To Falco, when Riley dropped her hand down and stepped away, it was like she was suddenly depressed. He stayed silent as she spoke, even though he regretted speaking so harshly to her. He remembered her fondly- when he was little, she would always play games with him whenever he wasn't studying. It would always brighten up his day after the ever-constant, strict ways of teaching his tutors had.

"You're not a freak, and you never will be.....don't forget that. Listen, I have to attend to some business in town. But, would it be okay if we hung out when I'm done? It would be nice to catch up with you." Falco gave her a small smile.

[sasha]

After getting some tea and pouring it for Lumi, Sasha sat down at the table.

"Sometimes, strong is good." Lumi stated bluntly, "Why are you so interested in me?"

"Why, shouldn't that be obvious? You're a Leopard! Now, despite the grim circumstances, I'll have you know that leopards are my favorite animal. I've always wanted to meet one of your clan. It really saddened me to see what happened to them, and I honestly do mean that. My mother always loved trading with your clan; she would tell my sister and I all about how fair and thoughtful they were, although also very proud." Sasha took a moment to look out of the window of the shop, wistfully thinking.

"You know, even though I get some customers that are Clan members, none of them stay long enough to talk, really. They usually just grab what they need and leave, like they're scared."

Lumi Cenk

"Leopard... You're interested in because of that?" Lumi wasn't sure what to think of this Original. She was odd in many ways that annoyed Lumi but for some season she couldn't hate the girl. Picking up the drink, she took a hesitant sip before placing it back down exactly where it had been before. When she brought up the 'sad' past that Lumi perfered not to bring into conversation, Leopard frowned. Her eyes fixing on the liquid inside her cut as the girl kept talking. How long had it been since the last time she had heard someone talk about her past? Most people she talked to knew her well enough to know that the subject was still raw when it came to her emotions. This girl didn't know any better, she was merely saying something that was something everyone associated with her. She was a Leopard, the only surviving one from the Bloody massacre that happened more then a decade prior. Swallowing slightly Lumi struggled to remain calm.

"Well. It's understandable since more Originals are hateful and disgusting." Lumi snapped, letting her emotions get the better of her, "I should go. That you for the baked goods." Lumi then pushed up from her chair, taking a cheese roll from her plate and downing her drink before pacing to the exit and swinging the door open. She had places to be anyways, people to meet. If she didn't hurry she'd be late to the gathering with the other Clans, something that she was expected to attend simply because of her birthright.
