I gazed into the Abyss, and it blinked first!
While many cancers have afflicted the population, two new maladies have also afflicted the world.
Sun Poison The sun's radiation has begun to deteriorate your body at varying rate. Some die within days of being diagnosed others live years. There is no cure or treatment, nor is there a way to slow it down. NOT CONTAGIOUS.
Sun Spore The sun has mutated a fungus that feeds on humans and animals. The more sun exposure, the more aggressive. The fungi can start and spread to anywhere on the body, this decides how dire it is. Someone with it starting on the foot may only need an amputation to cure them. Though that isn't common since most doctors won't go anywhere near and infected person, others die from blood loss trying to do it themselves. If it starts at the face, torso or lungs, death may come in days. Many infected live out their days underneath the main city in colonies like lepers. HIGHLY CONTAGIOUS
Many organizations popped up for various reasons.
Sol A religious sect that has gathered the most power. No one stands against them because of the high powered Childs that work for them. They are very fanatical and believe all this is judgement for man's sin. Highly Dangerous. They often times volunteer at the Spore colonies and for some reason are unaffected. Many believe they have a vaccine or cure but they claim it is there devoutness that keeps them safe.
Following of Icarus A commune located outside the main city. The people believe the whole world was killed in the great Cataclysm and this is the next world. Everyone that exists are burdened by sin and must repent in order to be allowed to join the next world. When a member is believed to have atoned for their sin, they are burned alive at the stake in a ceremony that grants "passage" to the better life. They view any other form of death as a one way ticket to the true hell. They do not condemn violence or murder, anyone who breaks their commandments will be punished. Any transgression of course can be atoned for and you may still reach passage.
Hell The largest most populated city. It was once named Arka and was a bustling sea side city with many important tech companies. Far from the largest back then but the other major cities destroyed themselves and scattered their population. The headquarters for Sol and Following of Icarus are located here.
Notable Locations: Sun Tower: The headquarters of Sol, once a 90 story medical center/research facility. Now it stands 30 stories and is the tallest structure known to still exist. The Solians provied medical care and aid to those who renounce there wickedness and beg forgiveness from Ravi the Sun.
Following of Icarus Commune: Located at the north of Hell, sits a huge settlement inhabitant by occultist citizens. There are many in number but not a smart bunch. They only pose a threat to other humans.
Nectar: The hottest gentleman's club anywhere. It caters to men and women. It's employs are the most beautiful creatures around Nymphs. Their beauty and allure is beyond compare. Their patrons become addicted to their looks and pheromones. The staff have a habit of eating a few customers a day but that has done nothing to stop it's popularity.
The Spance: Any area outside of a major city or village. These areas are dangerous due to their open location which is often beset by the sun. Many creatures live in this wilderness and are unidentifiable as either rabid or normal, travel at your own peril.
Selene: A village that is relatively peaceful because it is between other villages so most raiders never need to venture that far. (More info to come)
Nymphs A butterfly mutant that has acquired a taste for blood.
There pheromones intoxicate and addict men and women alike. The girls are amazingly beautiful, wearing nothing but silky lingerie that is actually their wings folded around them. Many people visit their club but some never leave. The workers feed on human blood and can suck a man dry in seconds. When they are taking to the backrooms, there is a good chance you will experience the greatest pleasure ever, but every so often you'll catch them during their feeding time and you're the lunch. Even though everyone is aware of the dangers, many still visit, unable to resist their charm. When you get in the room, their teddy strap undoes itself and their wings spread, gorgeous translucent, just like stain glass, wings. They are gorgeous until they're hungry, then the unhinge there jaw and a long sharp tube emerges from their throat, and just like a harpoon, shoots straight into their necks. As they drink, the excess blood is stored in it's wings, which fills in the translucent parts with a beautiful crimson.
Mongrels Are any quadrupedal animal that stalks the spance. The are crazed and rabid and can be mutated with superior abilities. Those such creatures become pack leaders.
