Mortal Operative.
Appearance:
1703391254066.png
Name: Connor McKinley
Age: 57
Personality: Connor has lived for a particularly long time, for an SU operative, and has thus become a rather grim and pragmatic person, though that could just as easily be due to the nature of his contract as years of service. Lost operatives are merely numbers on a piece of paper to him, nothing to get all worked up about. And sooner or later, he'll be one of those numbers.
Background: Connor was born and raised in Tillway, though he probably never figured to be in the SU. His public records show that he was an outstanding student, never top of his class but at least in the upper percentile, and was an upstanding citizen before joining first the Tillway Police Department. There, something crawled into his head and gave him the idea to join the SU. Well, always hungry for new recruits, SU gladly accepted him. The resulting demonic contract destroyed the contracting area, Connor himself disappearing for half an hour before reappearing in the crater with his contracted partner. No one knows for sure what Connor agreed to, but both he and Kaglollan have been invaluable.
Standard Nonmagical (Dud) Equipment:
  • Bulletproof vest
  • S&W .500 Bone Collector

Demonic Partner.
Appearance:
1703391334407.png
Name: Kaglollan or simply Kag
Personality: Kaglollan cares for very little. And why should they? They were already promised what they wanted from Connor, and they'll get it eventually. In the meantime, they are caught up in cultivating an air of nonchalant refinement and nobility. Whether Kaglollan is demonic nobility or not is unknown, but it's definitely a possibility.
Powers: Kaglollan is able to summon and control metal shards, whether they are like darts or blades is up to him. They can be used as a shield, or to tear an opponent to bloody ribbons. Field testing has shown that this ability is effective against mortal and magical attacks and opponents.

SO MUCH TO LOVE,
SO MUCH TO SAVE,
SO MUCH TO LOSE...

I. Pamagat
"There is beauty and goodness to be found in this world, but it is the product of defiance."
Name: Elithin Huwad Kapitapitagan
Alias:
Age:
1000+
Gender: Variable
Classification: Pre-Modern - Local Deity
Type: Engkanto
Origins: Pagsanjan Falls - Forsaken Brother
Height: 5' 11" (180cm)
Hair Color: Black
Eye Color: Red
Paired With: Emeth Raleigh
II. Sulyap
"The halo shattered, revealing the beauty within my chaos."
Personality:
Elithin is a trickster, clad in wit and raconteur. And yet, it is hard to find where the revered deity began and where the demon ends.
He defies conventions, tensing the fabric of norms with a beguiling smirk. An irrepressible playfulness that manifests as whismical antics, erratic behavior and spontaneous whims. He revels in uncertainty, gleefully switching from benevolence to chaos at a mere flicker.
There are those who relate Elithin to a 'hypokrite'. He veils his intentions in layers and layers of lies and unspoken truths. The mask covers the real behind the false, and shows only a pretender, a character. He was given a role, and he fulfills it with delight.
Yet, amidst this chaos that is sown, there lies something deeper. Unconventional wisdom concealed within the laughter and mischief. He does not joke for the sake of humor - though it may seem as such. In his playful mayuhem, he wishes to impart a truth of the world. A lesson transmitted across generations, yet lost in modernity.
Elithin is both profound and absurd. A jumbled mess resulting from the whims of those in authority.
III. Kwento
"Once revered, now feared; my shadow eclipses the divine."
Biography:
Once mortal and ailing, Elithin was once called Balubad.
A drought had come to his land to thirst the plains and woods. In its wake followed ruin and death. Not a hint of rain fell from the dreary skies. Life was once plentiful. Hogs, birds, boars, and critters called this soil their home. But as it became as dry as tinder, and the flowers withered away, and so too did these creatures.
Balubad and his brother, Magdapio, suffered a terrible plight. From dusk till dawn, they prayed to those above and those below. Their messages fell on deaf ears. As their bodies withered and fell decrepit, it was only Magdapio that persevered. Balubad had fallen, the once supple body now a parchment piece of desiccation. A withered leaf left to dry under an unforgiving sun.
The soul was left untouched for a time. The spirits took to him with pity. Neither malevolent nor benevolent, they tended the soul and birthed it anew. Veiled in falsehoods, no longer was he to be addressed by Balubad. What was etched upon his slate was thus; "Elithin Huwad Kapitapitagan".
His rebirth brought with him a domain. His claim was to the drought-stricken deltas from which he had originated. Magdapio was yet a parched demise. Lips cracked and chapped, speaking of a thirst still unquenched. To prevent a death so similar to his own, Elithin brought down the weight of his gift and welled a spring of life. A torrent of fresh water that cascaded down the canyon walls, booming out in defiance to those above and to those below.
Such a feat was exhausting for a newborn like he. As a consequence to the stretching of power limited only in creativity, he fell into a deep slumber, one that imprisoned him in the folds of reality.
It took only a fraction of time, yet he was called not with a banquet but with a jagged piece of metal that struck his abode down. The land was no longer his. No longer his people's. His brethren, those who had saved the fledging soul from annihilation, had since voyaged beyond. In their place, something new stirred. A shard split from its core landed on these shores, supplanting faith with chains and swords.
The homes of mountain gods were ransacked, picked apart, and rebuilt in stone and glass. These were not made for the deities who had fled in fear, they were for a power too great to be seen on a such a small scale. They were infants to this shard, who held divine right over all that was and will ever be.
A spirit of the forest, lost in the age of modernity. With his infinitesimal strength, he could rouse the believers from their oppression. But what more could be done? He would plunge this realm to chaos, dooming all in his path to annihilation. What good would come of that?
Thus, he returned to his slumber. Roused from sleep only every century, to play tricks on those who ventured too close. He was starved of faith and belief, and he turned to feed on fear and grief.

IV. Larawan
"The celestial mask cracked, revealing the humanity I once denied."

Physical Abilities:
Unlike other spirits of a lesser age, Elithin retains a physical vessel from which he hosts his power. Although he does hate to chain himself to a form, it is not a matter of choice. Elithin's vessel is durable, far more than what is typically conceived, but put enough into him and he will fall.

Disregarding physical affects sharpened with an edge or cut to a point, there are some objects of import that can severely weaken him, both in physicality and spirituality. Pieces of religious belief, relics imbued with faith, even water blessed by one of a high office, all are capable of weakening the spirit within.

Arcane Trickeries:
Elithin is one for the art of sensory confusion. It is a simple thing, really, to trick the senses into believing there is truly something there. Whether that be an oasis amidst the desert or a wall where a door once was. This was Elithin's bread and butter, descending invaders to insanity as they lose themselves within a small grove.

Since being bound, he has begun to get more inventive about how he uses this gift. Urban sprawls are wrought with nooks and crannies, danger afoot in even the most unlikely of places. All he must do is internalize such fears in a person, and make them realize it themselves. This works much more readily on those who doubt already, but those of a sound and complete mind tend to be more resilient to its effects.
V. Awit

Name: Mr Evans (he's never really said anything about his first name his first name is Marcile)
Age: 35
Personality: Despite his youthful look Evan's is somewhat tired and cynical, and drinks way too much, but he gets the job done even if he complains a bit too much, he's nothing of not reliable.
Background: Evan's and Azar have.. been stuck with one another for.. a long as time, since he was about 10 ish.. family curse en all the "write follows" as he was told, of course, he assumed it was all bullshit for a while just im imaginary friend.. until the demon actually showed up physically one day appearing out of a notebook he was carrying.. just after he'd gotten his first job as a cop.. and well now he's here in the SU, boy was it a ride to get here.. and way too many annoying sitcom moments with an overly cheerful demon. Annoyingly enough he still hasn't managed to work out what deal is family struck with the damn thing that means he's stuck with them.

Standard Nonmagical (Dud) Equipment: AK-47 (he says its easier to maintain despite it being outdated), kevlar vest, 357 magnum revolver.

Demonic Partner.
Appearance:
1703504276115.png
Name: Azar'Miros master of sigils, hoarder of knowledge.
Personality: (If applicable)
Powers:
write of the runes: runes are sets of relatively simple words into strings of 4 that can produce a sort of spell, while useful for the demon themselves, these "spells" can be given to others when written upon a parchment, the parchment burning up upon use.

negativity feeder: Azar'miros has an odd aura of calmness around him not because he makes people calmer but because the demon feeds on axiety discontent and other stuch negative feelings

Write of discovery: azar is able to locate objects or people provided he had enough of a description of them regardless of distance while useful this does take some level of detective work initially,

written apperitions: the demon can take on a physical form by appearing out of any source of writing being, paper ipads or any storage medium that can contain written words so long as its near evan's tho.

Appearance:
Name: Yog' Sam'orth
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Asexual
Personality: Unpredictable, subtle, clever, intelligent, cruel, flirty, deceptive, ambitious. Unpredictable due to her erratic behavior. Which is often accredited to her rapid change in emotions and mood. Clever in a strange sense. Can plan and decipher vast amounts of information. And able to store vast amounts of information. Deceptive in the sense she rarely tells the truth (and even if she does she bends it considerably).
Alignment: Neutral Evil
Background: Ever since her creation Smorth has been ambitious. When she was created she was a lowly demon spawn. But quickly gained power when she eliminated a rival demon. And a group of (rather idiotic) human sorcerers. After this event, she played the game very well. Eliminating rivals quietly and loudly. Even elevating herself to a minor noble. She even got notice from higher generals. Due to her abnormal powers and strategic mind. Her unpredictability proved to be her greatest asset. Specifics of her history are unknown as she doesn't speak of it often.

-Completely human form
-No superhuman/magical powers

Flesh Control: She can control her own flesh to great degrees. She can form weapons from her own flesh (mainly spears, swords, etc.) These weapons are as durable as steel. This power can also be used to form shields, tools, and more. These tools work as their non-flesh counterparts. Uses this ability to incorporate traits from various animal species into its forms.

Agent Guillermo De La Rosa

Age:
39

Gender:
Male

Height/Weight:
6'1, 212 lbs.

Skills/Talents:

Special Operations Forces - De La Rosa was part of an undisclosed SOF unit that excelled in clandestine operations behind enemy lines. His military training and experience place him at a level that is considered world class. Survival, CQB, marksmanship, evasion, and reconnaissance are some of the things that his missions demanded of him daily. He is able to rumble with the best of them and knows how to handle most modern weapon platforms with practiced expertise.

Combat Medic - While serving, Guillermo specialized as the squad's medic. He is well-trained in both conventional and tactical medicine. His expertise and natural talent in keeping people alive was a golden goose in his line of work. He couldn't save everyone who needed him but it isn't a stretch to say that a lot more men and women would be in boxes if it wasn't for him.

Battle Hardened - It takes a large toll to serve in an active warzone. That toll is further compounded when it's your job to make sure your fellow soldiers make it back home. Guillermo is not unique when it comes to his force of will but it takes a lot more than most to break his composure.

Equipment:

AR-15 Rifle - Guillermo keeps an 16" AR platform chambered in .300 blk as his preferred long arm of choice. Whether he keeps it on his person or in the trunk of his car, he doesn't leave home without it. The former soldier also keeps a standard load (Seven 30 round mags) of supersonic and subsonic ammunition as needed. It has a 1x optic mounted on top, a foregrip, white light, and PEQ-15 box mounted on the opposite side of the light. The rifle does have a suppressor attached to help minimize hearing damage, as it is not often that he can wear proper hearing protection while in the field.

Sig Sauer P220 - A standard handgun chambered in .45 acp. While not the standard service pistol, it's his preferred sidearm and it is always on his person. The handgun has been fitted with custom iron night sights and has been prepared to take further customization if needed. He usually keeps 3 spare mags attached to his belt on the left side of his waist.

JPC - De La Rosa maintains his standard kit in a plate carrier strapped to his body. It carries two ceramic plates, one in the front and back, rated for everything up to 7.62 x 39. It can take two or three direct shots before becoming ineffective on each plate. This is also where he carries ammunition, carrying a standard load of 6 strapped to the carrier and one in the firearm, totaling 7 magazines. He carries 3 IFAKs (Individual First Aid Kit) on his carrier, two in front and one on the back, for emergency treatment if anyone should get hurt. This is rounded off by keeping two flashbangs secured to the top, left side of his JPC.

Low Visibility UHMWPE Ballistic Vest - When the situation calls for a less overt approach, Guillermo will wear a low visibility vest to protect him. It's rated for smaller ballistics (handguns) than his usual vest but is far lighter and easier to conceal under normal clothing than the plate carrier. He will switch out the JPC for this when needed. Obviously, he cannot carry his rifle mags or any of his usual items with this vest on and will opt for taking additonal spare mags for his sidearm on his belt instead.

Field Kit - Guillermo keeps a large, organized, field kit with all the medical supplies he could ever need in the trunk of his car as well. This also allows him to refill his IFAKs if he happens to use them and needs a resupply while on mission.

CS 1_1.jpg

Contracted Demon: Pilgrim59 Pilgrim59

Personality:
Guillermo is a man who is rarely ever considered to be negative. He is very optimistic and carries himself with the gentle compassion that only comes from knowing how to break someone. The veteran has been regarded as a person who can always see the funny side of even the darkest situations. This leads to him cracking jokes at inappropriate moments sometimes but is generally accepted as a good thing. Humor is how he copes with the stresses and evils in the world. Whether they are mortal in origin or otherwise.

He is a beacon of warmth, safety, and relief to his allies but this is not the case for those who cause him harm. One doesn't survive what he has gone through for his country by simply maintaining a chipper demeanor. De La Rosa has a measured ruthlessness to him that can run your blood cold if you weren't expecting it. Active threats to him or his companions are generally handled in the simplest, most efficient manner possible.

The man's observant nature means that he can very easily tell when even the slightest things could be bothering one of his friends. It also means that he is very insightful and is usually able to gleam a person's intentions after interacting with them for a few minutes. This intuition serves as both a sword and a shield in his line of work and is what marks him as one of the best SU has to offer.

Background:

Guillermo De La Rosa was born in Central America and immigrated to the States when he was young. He grew up in poverty and life was far from easy but all in all, he had a good childhood. The eldest of three siblings and a loving mother and father who did their best to provide for them. He wasn't the best student and pursuing a higher education just wasn't an option with their existing debt. So, the young man decided to join the military instead to help make ends meet.

He joined as a medic and ended up getting the stereotypical moniker of "Doc" among his peers. As it turned out, Guillermo had a very particular knack for not only making corpses but also preventing people from becoming one. His naturally cheerful demeanor ended up getting him in trouble more times than one would expect. Whether it was his drill sergeants or fellow recruits giving him shit was a coin toss. But he didn't allow any of that to get to him and it was because of his light-hearted attitude that his people trusted him with their lives.

Guillermo was just starting his third tour in the middle east when all hell broke loose. His fireteam got introduced to the business end of an rpg and kicked off the patrol with 3 casualties. These were men that Guillermo had served with for over 6 years now and had just been killed instantly.

He had lost people before during firefights but to have lost that many without being able to do anything. Without having ANY control whatsoever was different.

De La Rosa didn't have the luxury of time to process the situation because the enemy started bearing down on them with automatic fire before the smoke even cleared. They knew their enemy was hurt and smelled blood in the water.

The fighting went on for over 18 hours and there wasn't a single person left of the 20 man fireteam that wasn't KIA or WIA, including Guillermo. He had been hit 4 times himself and the effects of blood loss, sleep exhaustion, and repeated adrenal dumps was taking its toll.

That said, it didn't change his optimistic nature. His teammates at the time tell the story of how he was still cracking jokes and pissing some of the more serious members off. It was with those jokes, however, that morale was kept at a barely acceptable level. Otherwise, they all would have sunk into despair and fail to last the night.

With the help of the other combat medics, they had managed to stabilize over 70% of the surviving team members. It was on the dawn of the 2nd day that the calvary came in and was able to drive the enemy out of the AO for good.

Guillermo received multiple awards for his valor and service. He was to be honorably discharged before he received an invitation to join the training of an elite group of soldiers once he recovered. The wounded man accepted the invitation without much thought.

This was because he was in a mental fog after the fight. He felt lost after that battle and was just mindlessly following the orders his superiors gave him. "Fill these papers out, talk to the counselor, answer these questions, do you want to join this group?"

He just mindlessly nodded. It could even be said that he barely understood what was happening at the time.

What the man quickly found out was that he had just signed up for the training to qualify for a SOF unit. The training made everything he had experienced before seem like child's play, including his tours in the middle east.

Out of the 15 that were invited to training, only 3 passed and Guillermo was one of the them. He had earned the right. The training to qualify for the training.

A few more months go by and De La Rosa is officially inducted as Special Forces. He was now someone that people made video games and movies about. A spec-ops soldier.

He wasn't seeing combat on the frontlines like before but they certainly kept his team busy with little down time. Deployment after deployment after deployment. Every time they deployed, someone important was wiped off the face of the Earth.

Officially, they were never there. They were ghosts on the grid that couldn't be tracked or traced. Everywhere they went, death followed.

Before he even realized, 10 years had gone by like that.

So, by the time Guillermo fully retired, he had over a decade of special forces deployments that he couldn't legally talk about. Many of the missions he was on were clandestine. The kind with a lot of black bars through the folder. He left with full honors and as one of the most decorated soldiers still drawing breath. Film and advertisement companies reached out to make offers but were all turned away.

Then came that familiar sensation. It had been a long time but the unease has started to settle back in. That sense of loss. Of not having direction or purpose. It dawned on him that he didn't know how to.... live... normally anymore. After everything he had seen and done, how could he? How could he relate to people who have sat at desks their whole life.

It wasn't that he couldn't respect those jobs or appreciate what it was they did. Far from it. It was that he had nothing to relate the last 2/3rds of his life to in society.

Upon speaking to his, now much older, parents, they suggested for Guillermo to try joining the police. It's not as serious as the military but it was close enough while still being a civilian.

And so, the veteran did just that. He enlisted at the police academy and unsurprisingly, breezed through at the top of his class. He was quickly placed into one of the more troubled precincts. The hope was that Guillermo's talents and character would change the department for the better.

While it wasn't his intention, the academy's hopes were not unfounded. His experience, training, leadership, and compassionate mannerisms led him to be placed on the SWAT team for the precinct. There he spent another 2 years before being pushed up to detective after some quick, provided-for schooling from the academy.

De La Rosa is a rookie in the SU, coming up on his second year since joining. Even as a relative newcomer, he behaves as if he had been there forever. He pretty much blends right in with his coworkers. Even though he's new, his team treats him as if he has been one of theirs for a lifetime.

Mortal Operative:
Name: Echo Rhorer
Age: 24
Personality: Despite being born mute, Echo has never had a problem being heard. If anything, she makes more noise than most, and her larger-than-life antics often make her the forefront of attention. Despite that, she can be incredibly focused when it comes to her work with the Tillway unit. Raised by a religious family, she performs her work with devout practicality, often making use of unorthodox methods to achieve success in the field.

Background: Born to a family of ardent Catholics, Echo was raised with piety at the forefront of her identity. Her father, and his father before him were demon contractors, men who turned the devil's servants against him and did the Lord's work with ease. Her parents always imagined their son would take up the family legacy, but he was never born. Instead, they had Echo, a soft, short young lady.

Dismayed by their inability to produce a legitimate heir, Echo's parents often ignored or treated her with outright vehemence. That all changed when she turned fifteen and subjugated a demon successfully with a particularly clever binding contract. From there she dropped out of high school, got her GED, and attended an Academy for Demon Summoners. It wasn't long before the Tillway Summoning Unit was impressed by her test scores and recruited her. She has served the unit for almost six years now.

Standard Nonmagical Equipment:
-Converted Glock 19X fully automatic machine pistol
-Bullet-Proof Vest with removable trauma plates
-Gas Grenade Canisters

Captain Markham during a Halo Jump, Art by Thomas Chen
Mortal Operative.

Name: Niccolo Markham;
Age: 31;
Gender: Male;
Appearance: Despite his middling age, Police Detective Markham has a certain youthful grace; smooth, clean, and well-shaven like his face was moulded by a master ceramist and unblemished by life's long withering. He is tall, but not lanky, baring a resemblance to a Roman pillar rather than a bent double street lamp. He is broad, particularly so. Jet, short hair complimenting his lighter skin tone. And his lively, walnut-coloured eyes. Sometimes, they streaked with a hardness like ice, a service record affected with countless cruelties.
Height: 5'11 - 184 cm;
Weight: 171.2 lbs - 78 kg;

Personality: Niccolo, despite the hardships, is an easy-going, warm-spirited soul. He is staunch when it comes to his principles, almost to the point of iron-headed stubbornness. Not at all reserved and always eager to speak with anyone or anything on the Summoning Unit, but strangely, not the type to laugh at jokes, preferring to enjoy them with a softly-wide smile. He tries to hold everyone to strict standards, including (especially) himself and quite protective of his team. At time, he can be quite distrusting. He is confident and reservedly proud. Once a year, he visits the graves of his former teammates from the ranger days, leaving them a single cigarette each. Has been nursing his knack for cooking, inherited from his father's side of the family. And to this day, remains a stalwart patriot for his country. Oddly, he dislikes most sports, except for mountain - climbing and skiing, the latter of which he discovered after a trip to ski resort years ago. And surprisingly, he's a teetotaler.

Rank: Detective;

Background: Born to an all-military family, Niccolo had been the prodigal son, a gem in their long lineage; a star pupil, well-mannered, and disciplined to the highest degree of his father's strict regulations. However, the young teen had an obstinate revulsion to his the career military within his life, secretly rebellious against his family's wishes to continue the honoured tradition. It was not distaste or hate that drove his dislike, it had simply been a gut feeling. A sickening thought, that chilled his blood, whenever it came up. He could never figure out the why of it. So, as all life tends to do when faced with discomfort, he tried to avoid it. Except, Life had other plans.

His family was devastated by senseless tragedy. A simple, ordinary car ride careened into a lethal accident, resulting in the death and dismemberment of his father. Sometimes, Niccolo wondered if his presence there was the wrong choice. He sat next to him then. As he always had. And like always, their talks devolved into his father's expected pressuring. Until he the young Markham gave in to his emotions. He snapped back, out of indignation, and fought his father with jagged words and voice uneven with anger. Attentions split as they were, neither of them noticed the oncoming truck until precious seconds before impact. His father twisted the wheel of his car to swerve, a last desperate move. As sharp as his reflexes were, they simply weren't enough. The truck impacted the car's side in a welter of shorn aluminum and blood, a blizzard of glass blowing out.

His father was flattened against the truck's radiator grill in an unrecognizable gore-heap of broken bones, torn muscle, and half-paste organs. Niccolo fared no better, glass carpeted his left arm like glitter, fractured multiple bones, the left lung punctured from a stray rib.

The surgery took six hours. Startlingly, Markham awoke that dark evening. Grief-stricken with a self-loathing so deep, his stomach acids boiled. His family were devastated by the senseless tragedy. But none wished for repentance more than Markham. The feeling bit and chafed at his mind. In an aimless, and perhaps in an irrational bid of guilt, he signed on the recruiter's papers.

He thought it a chance to fulfill his father's last wish. Hopefully, to finally rid himself of that malignant root in his chest. He averaged at basic training, but it was his first deployment that earned him praise from the top-brass and his battle buddies. The latter of who had made it easier to forget the incident. Salved the pain with camaraderie. He climbed the ranks with highs and lows, and surprisingly, boredom. Until he was presented with the opportunity to join the Army Rangers.

It took all the blood, sweat, and will he could muster to pass the intensive training regime. Many thought he would fail. Markham, however, knew that it was possible to succeed, that he must! And with it, came loose the final yoke around his neck. He felt a surge of satisfaction as his eyes picked out the smiles of his family at the graduation ceremony.

The missions came one after another; from special operation raids to reconnaissance tasks. He and his ranger team had managed to settle into a predictable routine; ensuring maximum potency with as little loss of efficiency as possible. Distinguishing themselves over and over and over. The ranger team's confidence grew to arrogance — too many successes, too few losses to remind them. Eventually, the sword that hung over their heads fell. During a rudimentary operation, under the long and hard cover of darkness, the ranger team's task was to raid a terrorist base in the Middle East. Unbeknownst to them and their indolent recon-gathering, they would be hunted, turned to prey, by things that prowled places far darker and deadlier than the desert they presently found themselves.

Captain Markham took point as always, rifle trained as he lead his team through the building. Its smooth walls were even from all sides, and the long, simple corridors within were lined with carpets, and other decor baubles, few doors inset shallowly in the walls opened to empty rooms, as if the occupants simply dropped their tasks and left unhurriedly, inexplicably. With his team still behind him Markham pushed on with their assent. It was then that a thought occurred to Markham. There was something to this base, the construction was too perfect, too subtle for human minds, eyes, or hands to build. He tore down one of the hanging carpets, letting his optics pick out the markings on the wall beneath. The trap was sprung with a demonic screech that echoed sickeningly through the dusty halls. And terror began.

The team doubled back, now hounded at every turn by vicious maws snapping at their heels, their gunfire did not help, their running less so as each teammate was dragged down by wicked talons. By the time, they left the premises behind them, only Markham and two other teammates remained. As he escaped, he spat at that house of horrors and retreated for exfil.

Embittered by the outcome, Markham had decided to leave the armed forces at last. With kitbag over his shoulder, he was greeted by his family warmly at the airport.

He moved to Tillway for a change of scenery, becoming an officer of the law then detective after two years.

Standing modestly and weighing in average with a sturdy built, his statures exudes a steadfast resolve, an understated resilience gleaned from the enduring trials of his service. There exists a poised yet unassuming air about him, one that speaks volumes despite its otherwise subdued nature.
There lies a hint of weariness in his gaze, a burden that keeps his eyelids heavy and his eyes glazed. Behind the windows of his soul, stands a depth that betrays the myriad of emotions veiled quietly behind those unexpressive eyes.

II. Aria
Personality:
Shaped by a crucible of loss and doubt, Emeth embodies a unique blend of resilence, introspection, and a sense of vulnerability. At his core, he carries the burden of past failures. Emeth has fostered a cautious and reflective nature, keenly self-aware, and often second-guessing his decisions. A lingering doubt follows in his shadow, a maligned creature that tinges his interactions and choices.
Many around him discern a quiet strength that exudes from him, born not out of unwavering confidence in the face of overwhelming odds. It is instead born from the resilience he forged in the fires of adversity. Emeth is a delicious blend of uncertainty and determination, grappling with past mistakes while striving for redemption.
While he may appear reserved and contemplative, there lies within a kindling-- a flicker of hope that moves him forward despite all that weighs him down. His style of leadership, although flecked with hesitation, carries an inherent sense of caution and thoughtfulness, all derived from the painful lessons of his past.

III. Recitative
Biography:
Emeth learned, at a very early age, that he was of little import. His life was too inconsistent, bouncing from place to place, breaking bread then abandoning the table. What came to his peers as simple and expected, came to him as difficult and undeserving. Entertainment for him was two sticks and whatever else he could find littered around the block.
There was, at least, some formal education in his life. Emeth did his best, not to fulfill some inner wish, but to merely garner the attention of his dejected mother. However, the institution who he was given to, did not make it such an easy thing. The adults too, were dejected, a void of nothingness clouded their eyes and the fuel by which they ran always seemed to be low in supply. He was always told of opportunities never sticking around long enough for you take them, to do what you can while you can.
Shaped by disheartened adults and fleeting chances, he yearned for something steadfast, something that anchored his life. It was amidst this longing that he stumbled upon a recruitment drive by a lesser-known branch of the military—one that emphasized unconventional tactics, relying on swift decision-making and precision, aspects that piqued Emeth's interest.
Boot camp was an exhausting endeavor, but the adults seemed to have more drive behind them, this way, he felt better looking up to them. Drills, drills, and more drills, it never truly seemed to end. He never voiced a complaint, of course. A place to sleep, food to fill, and company to enjoy. This was utopia. Or at least as close as he could get.
With dogged determination and a desire to break free from his cycle of impermanence, he threw himself forth into their rigorous demands. The arduous drills and relentless training gave him purpose. For the first time in all his life, Emeth had found a sanctuary in the structure and fellowship that his branch offered.
His innate ability to strategize and make swift, albeit uncalculated decisions caught the attention of commanding officers. Recognizing his potential, they honed his skills further, placing him in a unique role overseeing the actions of a single squad. Emeth's knack for leadership, coupled with his own ability, led to his ascent as the commander of a specialized unit within the branch.
Amidst his service, he found some semblance of stability and normality. The role he was given, gave him a sense of worth and direction, fulfilling the void that had haunted him since adolescence. The radio became his conduit to command, a lifeline that connected him to his team.
It was only, after some time, that he learned the burden of leadership. Orders are final, and once given, he dooms his men to their fate. The radio he held seemed to grow more hefty, and the monitors with which he surveilled seemed more blurry.
The weight of responsibility burdened his mind as he led his team through treacherous missions and operations. Moments of hesitation led to indecision, leaving the team exposed to grave danger. Other times, in the frenzy, his haste would lead to ill-judged maneuvers. No matter what he did, everything he sent down the pipeline sent another to an early grave.
Every loss sustained etched a deep scar into Emeth's heart. The comrades whom he danced with, drank with, he could remember each and every merry face. Those same faces haunt his sleepless nights. Their sacrifices became a reminder of what it to tread the fine line between decisive action and bated hesitation.
Burdened by the loss of comrades and his own self-doubt; he grappled with his choices, questioning their ability to avert tragedies. The camaraderie that once strengthened him now felt like a weight, as he blamed himself for others' suffering. The mounting casualties fueled his sense of incompetence, trapping him in cycles of doubt and uncertainty.
Though hesitancy and self-doubt lingers within his shadow, his innate sense of duty sent him to Tillway, to throw himself into the fire and to hope that fate does not strike him down.

IV. Chorus
Dud Equipment:
Patrol Equipment:
Staccato P - Chambered in 9mm, Emeth is a sucker for something as simple and well-known as this piece. Kept entirely stock, there isn't much to say about the firearm that he most commonly carries. That is, of course, without noting the 47 tallies etched into the lower receiver just above the trigger guard.

Mission Equipment:
MAC-11 - Chambered in 9x19mm Parabellum, Emeth has very little experience accurately using a firearm, thus he has decided to lean towards 'accuracy via volume'. They can't dodge the bullet if the area of fire encompasses an entire room. But really, this choice of firearm is really only good for a firefight in a phone booth.

Age:
29

Personality:
A man of few words, most people mistake Danny's soft spoken nature as shyness or a stoicism, his quiet nature stems from a belief that if he has nothing important to say he should remain silent. Despite this Danny is still sociable and able to interact cordially enough with most, he can easily talk someone's ear off when any subject he has an interest in is brought up, talk of American football and world history are the easiest ways to get him to join a conversation. A fighter to his core, Danny is always the first to advocate for decisive and often violent action to resolve conflict if it is unavoidable and doesn't have patience for those unwilling or unable to stomach the dark necessities of the Summoning Unit. Despite his intense manner, Danny is fiercely protective of his team, especially of bystanders and the quickest way to see his more aggressive side emerge is to put his fellows or innocents in danger. The life he's lived hasn't come without its scars, despite his attempts to suppress the inner voice and feelings of bitterness, hate, and wasted potential, their whispers have begun to slip through the cracks of his mental fortitude. A shadow of a feeling, like a twisted reflection of his soul, has begun to tug and influence him. One that desires bloody retribution against the malevolent and relishes enacting the punishment due.

Background:
A native of Tillway, Danny's father Jaime was his hero growing up, and all Danny ever wanted was to be a soldier like his dad. His father was deployed for a majority of his childhood, something Danny never held against the man as he grew despite other kids parents being there for their games or parent-teacher conferences, knowing that he was fighting to protect others. Unfortunately Danny was never a good student, being above average at his absolute best, Danny's prodigal physical talent made up for his academic shortcomings and his appetite for learning the ins and outs of whatever sport he took part in led to him being a standout athlete as a child and teenager.

His father having concluded his final tour of duty while Danny was a freshman in high school, Danny had informed his family of his intention to follow in his father's footsteps and enlist upon his graduation from high school, a choice Jaime vehemently argued against, his father outright forbidding and threatening to disown Danny if he did, not willing to sever his ties with his family over the matter, Danny begrudgingly acquiesced. In his Sophmere year he became the starting Free Safety of the varsity squad of his high school football team, becoming one of the key pieces of getting his team to a state championship which they fell short of acquiring. As a Junior he had attracted the attention of college scouts statewide and helped lead his team again to a state championship that they won. In his final year of highschool he received an offer of a full ride scholarship to Tillway State University, which he eagerly accepted.

Now a college student and athlete. Danny was pushed harder than he ever was before, a challenge he eagerly accepted. Making passing grades and academic eligibility however was a more daunting task, but his desire to compete outweighed his hatred of homework, even managing to make honor roll in his history classes. Despite not seeing much playtime as a 1st year player, Danny made strides and managed to impress some starters and coaches in practice with his ability to read quarterbacks and predict which receiver was about to be passed to. In his second year of college he had played his way into a starter spot and became a sparkplug for the defense, he had set a record for pick 6's and interceptions in a season for TSU, and was considered a very possible candidate for the national league draft.

It was the night before one of the biggest games in the year against a rival that would've locked the team into a 1st seed spot in their conference for the national championship. Danny was at his dorm when the shooting started, for the next hour a group of active shooters swept through the campus, indiscriminately firing on anything that moved. Police response was swift but the shooters knew what they were doing, barricading themselves within various dorms and faculty buildings. Tillway police SWAT teams managed to eliminate the threats, but not before they had tallied a large amount of injured and killed students and staff.

The aftermath felt like a dream to Danny, expecting to see certain faces at practices and classrooms that should've been there, but weren't. His performance fell drastically on the field in the weeks following the attack, some saying it had affected more than Danny let on. after an international terror organization took credit for the attack, a wildfire replaced the aimlessness and haze of his reaction to the trauma, his resurgence was marked by a focus and aggression that was previously unknown to even himself. returning to form in the final leg of the season and locking TSU into an eventual championship win. But the anger that had replaced his lethargy hadn't left, in fact it had only been magnified as time went on, his irritability soaring along with the number of times he lashed out around those around him, isolating himself even more. Over the summer of his Junior year in college, it dawned on Danny what he had to do to right whatever perceived wrong the world had dealt him.

Danny dropped out and enlisted over that same summer, an action that infuriated his father, but Danny had made his decision and was hell bent on seeing it through. Joining the Marines at the age of 21, Danny was quickly in for the system shock of basic training, the DI's showing no mercy to him or any of the other recruits, something that was oddly comforting, the feeling of equality and shared struggle giving him a sense of solace throughout the first phase of training. Danny quickly distinguished himself physically, passing the physical tests of strength and endurance with flying colors. After graduating from basic, his advanced scores in fitness and marksmanship allowed him to be fast tracked into reconnaissance training. Serving in the force recon for most of his military career, he had completed multiple tours of duty in the middle east by his 26th birthday.

In his last active deployment him and his platoon of other recon marines managed to harass and deter enemy combatants from assaulting a field hospital for 2 days and nights, allowing for a partial evacuation and bought time for reinforcements to arrive. Despite sustaining multiple injuries during the intense battle, he refused to evacuate before the more seriously injured, and held his position single-handedly at times for the duration of the conflict, scattering pockets of resistance and forcing the enemy to divert manpower to seek out the elusive sniper. His actions earned him a Navy Cross, and he spent that last year of his contract stationed in Japan after recovering from his injuries. Having such a close encounter with death made Danny re evaluate his life, Deciding to muster out of the military and try to repair his relationship with his father. Returning to Tillway and joining the Summoners Unit shortly after his homecoming.

Name:
Samni'arius

Personality:
RAGE

Powers:
Extreme strength and durability, is able to shrug off damage that would give even demons pause and rend steel as if it was mere paper. A very stubborn and headstrong demon, the contract binder would need an iron will to make the demon obey. The demon can imbue the contractee with its power, massively heightening strength and pain tolerance as well as imbuing them with Samni'arius' bloodlust and fury, which can quickly turn to a detriment if the operative cannot resist the malign influence of the demon.

Appearance:

Name: Finely Holland
Age: 27
Personality: Straight laced and a rod up his backside. This by the book's nature is put to the test when forming contracts with, and fighting, demons. This has caused a large amount of undue stress. Lucky for him, operations tend to act as a form of stress relief. Perhaps influenced by his demonic contract, he has even begun to take a small measure of joy from it.
Background: Compared to most everyone else he works with, Finely has no real stand out moments. He never served in the military, let alone special forces. He wasn't transferred in from another department because he could do what needed to be done. No, he was your average Joe living the American Dream of getting paid just enough to keep a roof over his head and food in his belly. The only reason he took the chance to be taken in by the SU was for the pay. And now look at him, contracted to a demon that would just as soon have him for breakfast as do what she's supposed to.
Standard Nonmagical (Dud) Equipment:
  • Heavy duty ballistic equipment, ie helmet with face shield and ballistic vest capable of carrying ceramic plates.
  • Breaching tools including but not limited to, door ram, sledge hammer, shotgun loaded with breaching rounds, and explosives if necessary.
