Episode 1, The Journey Ahead

10/06/--

Everyone will meet each other eventually(it's up to you how and when), unless they're already acquainted. The setting is starting in Republic City in a famed Earthbender area(a Chinatown of sorts). It's early evening and freezing.

...

Ai stared up into the sky, arms folded across her chest as she leant against the bridge banister. Suddenly, the wind whipped through her strands of her hair, nipping at her ears. A kitten-like sneeze erupted from within. When did it get this cold?! It doesn't get this cold until November--usually. Taking a beanie out of her coat pocket, she placed it on her head. Just below her was a creek, not yet touched by Autumn's frost. Looking down into the water, her reflection rippled from the breezes of the North. She could only think of one person. Where is the new Avatar?

After thorough search, she had found out that the Earthbender was born in the Earthbender area of Republic City. But it was still unclear to who they are. Pouting, the petite figure twirled around and continued her way. As she walked, hands stuffed in her pockets, she passed by many Earthbenders. With a smile, she waved at some children as they played under a low snow cloud. The work of an Airbender and Waterbender, she assumed. When she turned around, she was hit in the face by something. A piece of paper? Pulling it off, she read it:

"Earthbenders go toe-to-toe in the final round to win the grand prize of 10,200yuan(about $1,500)!"

Only Earthbenders? Perhaps this was the answer she was looking for!

Black

Wandering boy

Admittedly, as Black walked though the all too busy streets of Republic City, he wondered to himself how he got there.  For the most part Black could only remember wanting to step out and get a breath of fresh air.  After that he began walking for one reason or the next.  Prior to finding himself in Republic City Black was sitting in his office, in Mad Dog HQ, which was in the fire nation, which was over seas from Republic City.  The journey over was still foggy in Black's mind, but if nothing else one thing was for certain.  The grumbling noise that had been ceaselessly following Black from moment one was indeed not a hungry assassin like he thought.  But his own stomach.

Black checked his pockets, nothing, no trace of even meager pocket change.  Maybe, he could steal from a food cart.  No, that would be too low, even for him.  Then how?  As Black pondered and walked, the noise only grew in volume.  Becoming so great that anyone within the area could hear it clearly past all the other prattle.  Black's walking began to slow, unwittingly, until he stopped completely, and fell.  In the middle of the street Black laid, unable to move out of his sheer hunger.

As Ai walked, she stumbled across a fellow that was swaying like a leaf. His walking was slow and sluggish, and reminded her of a drunkard. She turned away to ignore him, when all of a sudden she heard a small 'thud.' Looking back, she realized he had collapsed. Yep, really drunk. Cautiously, she made her way towards him. He wasn't moving. It almost scared her, honestly. What if he had been stabbed and was dead? She hoped that wasn't the case. Eventually, she was kneeling beside him. There was no foul aroma of alcohol, and he wasn't bleeding, so then what was it?

GRRRROWL

Ai's eyes widened slightly, and she lifted an eyebrow. Oh, was he starving? "You poor thing," she mumbled to herself, immediately pitying him. Pulling out a small apple from her other coat pocket, she wondered how he'd be able to eat it, what with being unconscious.

Black

Wandering boy

The ground: what an odd place to find oneself.  It was cold, yet comforting in a strange dirty sort of way.  Black found himself becoming very intimate with the ground below him.  His limbs would hardly move, was this what it felt like to be dying of starvation.  Black had heard that many people had died like this, but he had never seen it with his own eyes so he often dismissed it as fiction.  But as his eyes began closing without command, the possibility of dying right there did cross Black's mind.  However, before darkness took his sight, Black made out a visage.  A person, holding an apple, maybe as an offering.

Black's hand grabbed at the apple, in one swift movement he then moved it to his mouth and took a bite.  The cold juices hit his tongue, and his eyes widened in shock.  The rest of the apple was forcefully inserted into Black's mouth by his own hand.  In only a few short seconds Black was sitting upright and swallowing the chunks of apple in his mouth.  Once the apple was gone, Black looked around, his eyes settling on a young girl's face.  She was the one who gave him the apple, he had to be.

"Are you... perhaps... an angel?"  Black looked up at the girl, akin to a stray dog.

His stomach growled again, breaking the silence in two.  "Never mind that.  Do you have any more food?  Or better yet money?"

Fists flew in all directions, shouts and screams could be heard within the massive crowd that was now a brawl. Lockwood, being Lockwood was in the middle of all of this. Only five minutes earlier he had been enjoying a meal the air benders who had been babysitting him had paid for so willingly. Well if stealing their money and sneaking away was willingly that is. Lock brought an air blast up towards his opponent but he didn't have much room to move. The air blast missed and he was met with a sharp uppercut from a pillar of earth. This sent Lock flying out through the shop window and out into the street where passer-by's looked on. In the middle of the path were two others, a sickly looking boy and a healthy looking girl. But Lockwood had no time to be taking in his surroundings. "You think I can't take a little earth bending!" he shouted before jumping back into the brawl that was steadily moving out of the restaurant. Beside the crowd was the restaurant owner who was feebly trying to break it up with a spatula and a dirty towel.

Lock went in, completely forgetting about his bending and started punching anything within reach. His knuckles bled but that was the least of his worries as he was knocked even further back by another earth bender. Groaning Lock stood up, "I-I can take i-it!" he groaned holding his stomach. Lock sent two feeble air blasts before another pillar of rock hit him once again. Lock wasn't going to give up but when he heard shouts and the site of the air benders he stumbled away down and alley way. Lock leant against the wall and only realised how cold it actually was. Luckily for him, air benders can warm themselves with their breath one of the only tings he learned from the air nomads.

Lock slid down the wall and sat on the ground now grinning. "Finally a good punch up," he laughed. Lock, ever since he left the Earth Empire, was itching for some sort of fight or danger but the fight still didn't satisfy him so more than likely he would be up in an hour or two ready for something else.

Ai, as an experiment, decided to push the apple towards his nose with her hand. Perhaps the aroma of food would stir him? For a while, it didn't. Pursing her lips, she turned to call for help. The second time that she's turned from him, and already it was another mistake. Quickly, he snatched the apple right from her hand, giving him a surprised yelp from the girl. With a startled expression she watched him stuff the entire fruit into his mouth, swallowing it within seconds. "Whoa, you were really hungry!" She exclaimed, mouth agape in shock. When he asked her if she was an angel, she couldn't help but blush. "Aww.. Well, no," she mumbled with a sheepish smile, flustered.

Ai could obviously hear some commotion going on from her right, making her a bit worried for this man's safety and hers, ultimately. "Hey, can you stand? We can both get some food(idk Chinese hot dogs?) over at the Earthbending Arena, since I'm heading there," she told him, standing.

(I'll make a post for @Physiicz's post in a bit~)

From the shadows, he watched as Black fell to the floor, the man being on the brink of starvation. Even though this was the perfect opportunity to strike, he couldn't; for a young girl had stumbled upon his body, and was already offering him an apple. There wasn't enough people around to hide in, besides. However, his job wasn't finished just yet! As he turned to leave, he heard some fighting within the restaurant next to the alley he was in. A boy was thrown out, landing yards away from him. The Spirit Fox raised his eyebrows, curious. He was an Airbender fighting an Earthbender. The outcome of the fight had already been decided, obviously, as he escaped into the alley he was in.

With a a clearing of his throat, the Spirit Fox turned his attention to this boy. "Why were you fighting them?" He asked bluntly.

Lock lifted his green shirt and examined the bruise on his stomach. The bruise was quite large but it didn't hurt as much as it looked. Lock looked up towards the sky as a voice came from beside him. He looked around to find a figure dressed in black armour with a fox like mask. Lock used his airbending to launch himself up to his feet. "Who are you?" Lock asked cautiously. This person gave Lock a weird feeling in the pit of his stomach. Lock held is hands at his sides but was ready to bring them up into a fighting stance.

He folded his arms across his chest, eyeing the warrior calmly as he jumped up. "Sorry, did I frighten you?" he asked, tilting his head to one side. Instead of answering his question, however, the Spirit Fox moved close to Lock. After moments of simply staring at him, he told him,"I am called the Spirit Fox. None have wished to cross paths with me—or so the saying goes." Finally, he moved back, sitting on a nearby crate. "I'm not here to hurt you, if that's your concern. But that can change if you continue down the road you're going.." he glared daggers at hi behind his mask, a cold breeze passing through the alley. "I suggest changing it."
