Thonro Halen | 34 | Male

Human

1468371-vanhelsing5.jpg

History

Although he wasn’t the first-born of the family, he may as well have been. The eldest child of the family left and never came back, and he is now said to be dead, either in a gutter in far east of civilization, or in a gave anywhere in the land of Skyrim. Both of them are very different, obviously. Leaving when he was only five years old, Thonro was confused. The brother that he loved so dearly and in a lot of cases taught him everything he kept close to his heart, he was bitter and even quite depressed about his departure, but there was nothing he could do about that right now, was there? He hoped to be a brother himself one day, and eventually, the dream did become true, but not without error.

Every sibling he held in his arms soon died, not within minutes, but within hours, sometimes days, sometimes weeks, and rarely months and years. As a heartbroken child, he didn’t know what else to do with his life, really, he didn’t. He didn’t know who to go to or what to do, but when he was ten years old, his sister was born. She survived the birth, she survived a day, and then a week, a month, and finally a year. From there, he did everything to make sure she was safe. It was what he needed, to be honest. To know that he was… With someone else, he wasn’t alone, he had someone else there, someone who wouldn’t be leaving anytime soon. He was more than happy with her, and despite the age difference, he did what he could to protect her. He did literally everything, from fighting to helping her learn to read.

Name it and he did it.

Anyway, as the brute of the siblings, yes, there were more than just the two of them, because soon, aside from his sister Nydanna, he ended up having another brother. Yes, he enjoyed his company just as much, too, because… Well, he had a brother, and despite an even bigger age difference, he still had a good time with them both as brothers and sister, so that was all there was to worry about. Don’t get me wrong, there were some things he didn’t like to say much about, one of them being the brother they never met. He tried to keep it secret, but obviously his parents didn’t keep it secret for long. Secondly, we’ve got another issue. The vampire. I know, don’t get me wrong, he liked Ciel as much as the next guy, but it was just… It was something he was wary of when he grew older, but then he came to trust him and it was just fine. And of course, seeing as he was the youngest and met him before the others were even born, he was partially raised on his stories.

As time went on, watching friends and family alike get abused by the people that were meant to be the protectors of them, the ones that wandered the streets at night and worked to keep them safe, and it was generally pushing the once innocent family into a spot where they had nowhere to turn, and with that, the big and influential older brother (you know what older siblings are like), still rather bitter from his sister’s small disappearance to the Winterhold College (not at her, don’t worry), decided that… Stealing, pillaging, sending a message was… More his thing, even though he was raised as the strong boy of the family to be a master of smithing and such. He didn’t want that life.

With his skills, he left the town and they hit the road, all of them, and they were on the path to crime, but not the path to corruption. As crazy as it sounds, Thonro wasn’t a bad guy, but as time went on, with time after time of things going wrong, sometimes… You want things to go right, even if you have to force them to happen. Like I said, not a bad guy, but not exactly a good one either. Soon, as the path went on, The Resistance was formed, and person-through-person, accepted and denied, the power began to rise and fall, but it’s been said – It’s only the beginning, and the fight that this would lead them into would be what decided the future of their lives, the future of their family’s lives, and any families that they created… It would decide their future, too, but no goal is easy to reach no matter how you put it, so although the fight was ready to be sent forward, stopping it from getting pushed back was a hard task to do, as well.

And his personal goal was to help carry it forward. Lacking in the magic and such, his physical strength and his smarts made up for it. Tactical and brave, he was willing to do whatever it took to get the job done, and if that meant throwing himself in the line of danger, he’d do that without a doubt. Of course, if it meant death he wouldn’t do it, but you know, general danger was something he was cautious of but less… Anxious about, if you will. Nothing extreme, though.

Brave, protective, aggressive, serious, faithful, loyal, careful, observant, judgmental, strict

Skills

Skilled in sword-play and the use of a crossbow, physically strong, speech (only when threatening)

Engar Halen | 19 | Male

Human

0b3c1cf93f343d58773bb5691c3afa61.jpg

History

Engar is the youngest sibling of the Halens, and is generally the one that is, sadly, the most sane. He knew that his brother and sister weren’t exactly the most stable of people, and while he may have preferred spell-casting, crafting, and potion-mixing… I mean, hey, it didn’t mean he was useless. He wasn’t as skilled in magic as his sister was, but he knew what he was doing all the same. He knew the Electric side of Destruction, but fire, ice… All of that was out of his grade. He didn’t like tinkering with that, and he usually found that electricity could have a lot of uses. Still, let’s take it back to the start, because this is history, not what’s going on now.

Engar was the good kid, the one who listened and did what he was told, but that didn’t mean he didn’t like to have fun. I suppose he spent an equal amount of time with his brother and sister, and he was treated well, being the youngest. Sure, he eventually fell into the life of crime, but he had three major influences. He had Ciel, and he heard all of his stories when growing up. It was too much of an influence to not want to be part of it, and deep down there was that feeling that he was in the wrong place, but without his siblings, no place felt right. He had no choice, but he had his uses, like I said. He grew up normally, but the bad thing was that he was one of… ‘those kids’.

He was that weird kid that ate the mushrooms on the side of the riverbank, you know? Sure, some things made him sick, some things brought him close to death, almost, but he was the kid that went back for more. As he got older, he began to figure out what mushrooms created poison, what flowers eased pain, what nectar closed wounds, and what water-plants prevented – and sometimes cured – illness. It was something that he picked up on, and as he got into his teenage years, he began to mix things, making them better and stronger, but of course, we all have our limitations. His limit was the fact that the town they were in didn’t have what he needed.

He was into a lot of reading, and he picked up the art of Destructive and Illusion-based magic. Destructive being the electricity, and Clairvoyance being the Illusion side of things. Generally he was more skilled in the said electricity, but that’ll show later on. His potion-mixing, general crafting, and magical capabilities all improved over the two years that they were out on their own. He was capable, even when people said that he wasn’t. He prefers to stay behind the lines seeing as his physical combat isn’t exactly fantastic, but… I’ll say it time and time again.

He has his uses.

He just shows them in different places.

Personality

Open-minded, quiet, intellectual, logical, dedicated, respectful

Skills

Alchemy, crafting, destructive magic, illusion-based magic (both are limited)

Weapons

Ebony dagger (used in emergencies only)

Dark auburn hair, goes down to her lower back, brown eyes, pale skin.

History

Nydanna Halen is the daughter of Analinde and Galas Halen, both of which worked in the forgery trade, making armor for some of the best warriors in Skyrim. This attracted the attention of the notorious Haivain the Bloodthirty’s clan. By the time that Nydanna was born, the vampires had been working with their family for three years, so she knew nothing else but their faces and treated them like family, rather than like the vampires that they were.

Of course, she wasn’t particularly allowed to spend time with the vampires, her father worried for her safety more than anything. He only had three children remaining, the last thing he wanted was for them to become the vampires next three course meal. But she continued on, with her siblings, to become close to the vampire Ciel Ezar, the stories he would tell and the ideas he planted in their heads mesmerizing them. Don’t get me wrong, Nydanna wasn’t manipulated into becoming the woman that she did, she was more… Encouraged.

Nydanna had always been mad. Crazy. No one knows what caused it or why she was the way that she was. Was she born that way? Did something happen to her? She was just mad. And as she grew, it stayed that way. She found it hard to make attachments to people outside of her family, and so she didn’t try. Despite the ten year age difference between her and her older brother, she was still close to him, and close to her younger brother too.

When Nydanna was in her early teens she began to experiment with destruction magic, but obviously she was not so skilled, and with no one but books to teach her she didn’t get very far. But, when she was seventeen she made her way out into the world and found her way to the College of Winterhold to learn more about destruction magic, but unfortunately her time there was cut short when she was nineteen years old, and she was kicked out of the college, permanently denied. What happened? Let’s just say that Nydanna didn’t like a particular Altmer’s attitude, and things got a little ‘heated’, if you catch my drift.

She was sent back to her home, permanently forbidden to return to the college. So what did she do now? Well. Bitter, mad, and now a lot more skilled in the art of destruction, Nydanna was a lot more willing to go down the route of crime with her brothers and Ciel, and since she made the decision to go with them and help them, oddly, she has never been happier.

Personality

Captivating, curious, deceitful, playful, seductive, crazy, devious, destructive, reactive, venomous, mystical.

Skills

Destruction, speech

Standing Stone

The Lover Stone

Weapons

Mainly relies on her destructive magic skills, however does have an ebony dagger on her at all times just for those sticky situations where magic should not be used.

Silver-blonde hair, grey eyes (unless he needs to feed, in which case, black), very pale skin.

History

Ciel was born a long time ago, and his life during that time was just that of a simple farmer. His mother died in childbirth, but his father raised him to work hard and get the job done, and he intended to raise his children that way too. When he was nineteen he married a local girl, Adia, and a year later his daughter, Vinia, was born. For two years he continued his life as a farmer, in a house opposite to his fathers, with his small family.

When he was twenty one, his wife was expecting once again, but they had hit a hard winter and money was scarce. Desperate to battle through and make sure that they could afford to live, Ciel decided to look for other work. With the rumor floating around that a cave to the north of his city was brimming with jewels and gold, Ciel climbed onto his fastest horse and made his way to it. However, when he got there he found that the cave was indeed brimming with jewels and gold, but also corpses. Foolishly, he did not return to his home and get someone more experienced to help, but instead decided to go and investigate.

He did not emerge from the cave as a living man. Stuck in the body of a twenty one year old man, vulnerable to sunlight and hungry for blood, Ciel became a part of a new family, but he could not return to his old one. And so, from the shadows he watched as his wife mourned his death, and he watched Vinia and his son, Mikage, grow into adults. Mikage died in battle with no children, Vinia became a priestess dedicating her life to the worship of the goddess Mara. He had no grandchildren. He outlived the three of them, unable to tell them the truth about what had happened as he was under the watchful eye of Haivain the Bloodthirsty, the vampire who turned him.

Over the years he went on many adventures with Haivain, and has a few stories to tell of his times with him, but his adventures with Haivain stopped after they decided to begin working with the Halen’s. Galas Halen needed the vampire clan to take down some enemies that he could not do himself, in exchange for a supply of armor for each vampire. This was where Ciel met the Halen children. Seeing in them what he missed in his own children, he became friends with them rather quickly, against the wishes of both their father and Haivain.

As they got older, Ciel began to notice talents in the three (remaining) Halen children that he believed could be used elsewhere. Over the years he began to fill their heads with stories and plans, and eventually when they were old enough they began to discuss leaving the Halen family and beginning a life of crime. A year later, and they did just that, with Ciel murdering Haivain and abandoning his other undead brothers, and the four of them fleeing into the night (let’s face it, with Ciel they couldn’t exactly go during the day). Over the next two years they created The Resistance, a feared group of criminals who began to make names for themselves, butchering and stealing with no second thoughts.

And now? Now they’re looking for recruits, because that was all just the beginning.

Personality

Alert, firm, hardworking, liar, observant, hypnotic, brutal, charming, disconcerting, patient, malicious, irascible, protective, sly.

Skills

Sneak, one handed, Vampire Lord

History

Aurrelius was born in Riften, the son of a merchant and diplomat. He lived, for the early years of his life, a sheltered existence and was to be considered for a high political position in Cyroodiil. However, due to the cutthroat nature of politics in his ancestral province, Aurrelius' parents were killed by their rivals for political gain. Aurrelius however wasn't there at the time of his parents assassination. Under the laws that governed orphans, he was given to Honorhall orphanage, a place he would come to loath due to the severe lapse in the luxury he was used to. At age 16 he left Riften, escaping and stealing a horse before riding off into the wilderness.

After two weeks he joined a group of bandits holed up in Fort Greenwall, but later moved on due to fundamental differences in approach, that and the fact he shagged the bandit chiefs daughter. Soon after he rode to the Reach and became a mercenary there, having learnt the art of archery and swordsmanship from the bandits. Soon enough, Aurrelius formed his own militia group and began to claim bounties on Forsowrn commanders and often burnt their camps to the ground. This occured over the space of five years, and the unit claimed seventeen thousand septims through this period. Their downfall came at Fort Sungard, when the Forsworn outflanked them and attacked them on two fronts. Out of the seven mercenaries that had come to attack the fort, only three remained.

The three were captured and ruthlessly tortured. Aurrelius was forced to watch the execution of his two compatriots. It disgusted him, and he would always swear to root out Forsworn till the day he died. His rescue came with a prisoner exchange, where he was traded for two Forsworn officers. Since that day, he has traveled the Reach, killing Forsworn and those allied with them. Soon enough he heard about the Resistance, and decided to join after having spent nearly a decade avenging his former comrades.

History

Being the son of an Orc Chieftain wasn't easy for Balroc. All his life, he was trained to be the leader of the Orc Stronghold, with constant disciplinary tactics enacted by his father and being taught that should a time come that the Stronghold is in danger, you must defend it to death. Though that was common for all people living in the Stronghold, it was especially true for the chieftain. Balroc was hardened by his experience here, and when the time came for him to take over the Stronghold, he did so by killing his father.

Some years past and Balroc handled being the new leader fairly well, utilizing equal treatment among people, among other things. He never married or took on a woman because he didn't want to have his son be treated the way his father treated him, though he knew it was necessary.

One day, a female Wood Elf happened upon this Stronghold and was almost killed on sight until Balroc ordered them not to. After asking what her purpose for coming here was, she told them she was just a mere traveler that didn't want to harm anyone. The other orcs didn't believe her, but Balroc decided to admit her into the camp to stay the night if necessary. Of course, the woman graciously accepted and entered the camp. Since no one wanted her in the first place, she had stayed with Balroc the night. She was extremely kind and gentle to Balroc, and he began to develop feelings for this woman. Feelings were mutual. Events ensued until morning, and she left, promising to come back to him at some point, though she never did. Balroc knew she wouldn't be able to stay in the tribe, as much as he wanted her to, but he was determined to see her at least once more.

Many years had passed, Balroc still not taken on a woman and still the strongest warrior of the Stronghold, defeating countless numbers of people who tried to take his spot, and a courier had come to the Stronghold. Looking to see if it was the Wood Elf from years ago, he was saddened when he saw it just a courier delivering a letter to him. He ordered one of the other orcs to take the letter, and he did so, but the letter was from the Wood Elf, explaining that she was still alive and that he had a son. Half-orc, half-wood elf. The orc that was ordered to take the letter had read it aloud, and all the other orcs armed themselves, believing that Balroc had betrayed them.

Though overjoyed, he didn't have time to think about it right now; Balroc had to get out of there. He went into his house and stripped himself of his armor and applied the lightest clothes he could find, making sure he could be faster than the others that tried to chase after him. After making a makeshift shield, the other orcs had broke through the barrier he made earlier to protect himself, and started attacking him. He jumped out the window, rolled on the floor and immediately got up from the roll and started running out of the camp. He fought his way through the small army of orcs that were once his allies, killing anyone who tried to stop him, he got away, losing his shield in the process, however.

Though he was unable to find the letter in the camp that may have led him to his beloved, it didn't stop him from looking. In this process, he became extremely skilled with a one-handed sword and his own fists. He never found the Wood Elf from years ago or his son, but what he did come upon... was the Resistance.
